Boojum is a Belfast institution, if you haven't been to Boojum I don't want to know you! Wait, maybe that's a bit harsh. I will start over... Boojum was the first eatery in Belfast that cottoned on to the idea that people wanted Mexican food and they wanted it in a handy tin foil wrap that they could take to the streets with. This has been their ethos from day one and it has worked for them. I haven't visited the Botanic Boojum but the site on Chichester Street has become a second home to me, it's handy for a working lunch, a casual dinner and a hangover recovery meal. Ticks every box. My meal of choice is a beef burrito with salsa verde (medium heat) and topped off with plenty of sour cream - definitely give it a go. It's filling enough for lunch. The staff are absolute magicians, the way they manipulate that foil around your meal would put you in mind of David Blaine- blink and you'll miss it! read more

My coworkers couldn't hype it up more: the Chipotle of NI, and basically equally satisfying if you're craving a huge burrito that is Mexican but not super Mexican. One of my most enthusiastic Boojum fan coworkers pointed out that they have "Mexican savoury rice" which Chipotle does not offer, a red tomato-based rice option in addition to the lime cilantro one. It's interesting that beans and fajitas vegetables are sort of treated as substitutes, as the Burrito menu option includes beans and the Fajita option includes the bell peppers. I can't fathom a burrito without beans! One brick-like Boojum burrito is easily 1.5-2 meals for me, which makes it a pretty good deal. I've never been in this boojum store , I got one delivered through deliveroo. This was actually my first time tasting a boojum burrito. I got the shredded beef with cheese, sour cream, pinto beans and mexican rice, It was a big burrito wrap well in tin foil to keep it warm. The flavour was lovely and the beef was lovely and tender , the burrito was well filled, the rice was lovely and fluffy, I also got tortillas with medium salsa and hot salsa, I liked the tortillas but both the dips were not nice at all. I got a green see through dip which was meant to be medium salsa Verde but it didn't taste of salsa at all tasted of grass really and the hot salsa was orange tasted very hot but didnt have a nice salsa taste to it. I wouldn't buy the dips again but I would buy the burrito and tortillas. read more

Boojum is delicious! The burritos here are beautiful. The staff are really helpful if you're a burrito amateur and need a bit of help deciding what to have. They sell soft drinks and beer too...perfect, burrito and beer...yummmm The city centre location makes it very handy. There is seating inside so you don't have to run off if you don't want to. There does tend to be a queue but it moves fairly quickly so don't be put off. read more

Boojum efficiently and quickly serves up freshly made Mexican food including burritos, fajitas and tacos. There is a vegetarian option which includes guacamole and grilled peppers and onions but most of the options include some form of meat. My go to is the vegetarian burrito with Mexican rice, both beans, hot salsa, plus the all the toppings and jalapeños. The staff are very courteous and generous with their portions. There is also a loyalty card for those who develop a burrito addiction (quite possible given the quality of the product and reasonable prices). The one drawback is that there is often a line at Boojum around meal times but it moves quickly and is merely a reflection of successfully serving the needs of its customers. At first, when I passed this place, I didn't want to go in, because all the condensation on the window makes it look very unprofessional from the outside. However, the long queue at lunch time did not go unnoticed. This is now one of my favorite places in Belfast for a high value, casual meal. The burritos are fresh, delicious, and generously sized. At 5.5 pounds they are a bargain. Note that after going here, you will be getting hungry looks for all the wrong reasons. The absence of ventilation over the service counter means that the room is full of steam, carrying with it the smell of Mexican food. In essence, your clothes will smell like burrito for a couple of days. Having spent an h our here, I had to wash all my clothes, and hang my jacket outside to air out the smell. This steam also causes the condensation problem on the windows. The owners should really consider investing in ventilation. To summarize, the food is great value. If you are so enthusiastic about burritos that you don't mind smelling like one, the place is 5 stars. For people like myself, who primarily see burritos as a delicious meal, the place is more suitable for a quick bite, and if you have no plans after. read more

Placed an order for delivery via Deliveroo as part of Yelp's Deliveroo Big Night In event, ordering was really easy online. Had 3 burrito bowls delivered to my friend's place of work, food arrived on time & nice and hot. Burrito bowls are excellent value all the stuff from inside a burrito without the wrap and more of it! Also someway easier to eat than a big fat burrito. I went for cilantro/lime rice, shredded pork, pinto beans, salsa verde (medium), sour cream & cheese. I ate approximately half a burrito bowl sharing the rest with my daughter & friend, this was plenty for lunch and I was left feeling satisfied by what I ate. The other 2 bowls had mexican rice, pinto beans, chicken, salsa roja (hot), sour cream & cheese. Everyone was really happy with their food and 3 bowls between 5 people was sufficient for lunch portions. Having eaten from boojum before I am rather liking this whole deliveroo thing as it saves having to queue and food was just as warm as when my friend has called in after work to pick some up and bring up here. read more

I don't know what it is about this place but I can't get it out of my head. I don't think these burritos are authentic in the least and you kind of KNOW it's an Irish thing, as someone who has had TexMex, CalMex, et al. straight from the source. It's definitely designed for an Irish palette. You can taste it in the cheese, in their choice of spices for the chicken... But I do love it. We named our dog after Boojum. Tasty food and drink, but the staff are sometimes rude to customers. This happened to me a few months back. It was only my second or third time in the place so I was unsure what the options were to put in my burrito, so asked the server. She spoke to me very disrespectfully and made an idiot out of me in front of the other customers in the queue. I called the manager, but I'm still waiting for them to get back to me 3 months later. I understand it's a busy place, but this cost them a customer and a bad review. So I suggest staff are spoken to (the larger female one in particular. You know who you are!).
