Magnificent moments are made of this = Margaritas, Mexican food, great service, magical atmosphere and a chilled vibe. We indulged in a menu of authentic, delicious food. I've been to Mexico twice and can vouch for the fact that La Taqueria really do sell fresh, truly authentic Mexican fare. I loved the guacamole with tortilla chip starter, oyster mushrooms with green chilli quesadilla main and side of crispy potato cubes, sour cream and herbs. Cocktails were fantastic, nothing like I've ever tasted before. Pure, unique flavour combinations which worked together superbly. The wine list boasts Spanish, Chilean and Argentinian wines and the Spanish wine was luscious. La Taqueria is a wonderful addition to the Belfast restaurant scene and offers great Mexican flavours which cannot be found elsewhere in Northern Ireland. It's super to see clearly marked vegetarian dishes on the menu and some vegan options too. Everyone in my party loved La Taqueria and I've already booked a return visit.

Today (3/11/16) I choose a daily special of spicy pinto-bean quesadilla with Swiss cheese, dressed side salad and coleslaw. The food was immense; fresh, filling, delicious and moreish. Service was brisk and cost excellent at circa £5 for my meal plus a bottle of mineral water. Grapevine's major drawback is the size, it's a very small cafe with few seats. Ambience is relaxed and there's some seriously cool soul music playing in the background. I will definitely return, but only outside of the hectic lunchtime rush hour.

The positives of Grapevine are there for all to see, it is in an excellent central location for both office workers and hungry shoppers. It also has brilliant outside seating. Smokers will feel welcome, as each table is equipped with an ashtray, which is actually something you don't see too often these days. Inside they have Special Boards literally crammed full of delicious lunch options. Whitebean Stew and Homemade bread caught my eye and it's definitely something I'm going to try on my next visit, provided it hasn't been scrubbed off the specials board. I love the seating set up inside; they have those big high benches with stools that face out and you can sit and watch the world go by while enjoying a coffee, bit of fruit or a hearty stew. Overall I think the Grapevine is an endearing wee café, it's got everything you want from a city center food shack - beaut grub and a relaxing set up, I'll be back that's for sure.

Another competitor in the Mexican fast food market in Belfast, with more or less the usual range of…read moreformats (burrito, fajita, burrito bowl, taco) and choice of beef, pork, chicken or peppers as filling. Tacos are soft by default, which I think makes good sense in terms of trying to hold them together when eating them. I'm happy enough about the food but after having to wait for weeks turning to months for this place to open, they could have given more consideration to the people-flow aspects of design and layout. If the place is busy, the queue obstructs the flow of people from counter to seating. Then anybody sitting by the window has to cut through the queue to access the waste bins. Surely there are better ways of doing this. The counter could have been operated in the opposite direction with the queue directed anticlockwise around the wall by a balustrade. Then anybody leaving the counter could access all seating areas and bins without crossing the queue or squeezing past it.

She sat me at a table of four even though I was on my own which made me feel less of a loser. I sat down and browsed the menu made up of various burgers. I was going to go for the double cheese burger when the waitress came over and showed me their offer. A double cheese burger, fries and a drink for £8! Unreal! I obviously went for that deal, helpfully guided by the waitress. The food took about 10 minutes to come, the chips were served on a tray and the burger dame covered in foil. Packed lunch style! The chips were deep fried but still had a potatoey consistency. The burger was American style just the way I like it. A soft bun and a tender burger patty with plenty of fresh salad. Incredible! It has the same high price as Five Guys (for 2 people, one having a double burger with bacon, the other having a single burger with cheese, some angry fries to share and two milkshakes, it was £24), but unfortunately it doesn't quite have as much of an appeal in terms of the quality of the food. The burgers are quite dry, they're extremely messy, which isn't a great thing if you're trying not to spill it all over yourself, the redeemer is the crack sauce which is pretty great. The fries are strange, they're the same quality as you would get from a good chip shop, but I don't think they goes very well with the whole American restaurant aesthetic they're going for. Really, if you're wanting to support local, eat here. If you're wanting to have something a bit more put together but for the exact same price, go eat at Five Guys.
