Single scoop with two flavors strawberry lime and orange blossom lime cream - so generous!

We ordered the orange blossom with lime curd and the raspberry with like curd. The gelato was super creamy and easy to eat. The menu was large and it was hard to choose between the ice cream flavors. But the ones we chose went together well, based on the recommendation of staff, who were super helpful especially with samples and pairings. I like that you can get a mix of gelato even if you get a single scoop. So good and definitely recommend. The parking is street parking so it can be difficult to park very close to the establishment, but it's a short walk from various parking spots. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well. For about $6 for a single scoop, the prices are very reasonable.

Stopped by Bonta Gelato for an evening treat. I had the roasted strawberry and honey with the mascarpone flavors! The gelato seemed fresh with very complimentary flavors. This location is walkable downtown, but looks like they have several locations in the area. Plenty of seating available and good service!

A fairly famous, multiple location gelato place in the Redmond/Bend and surrounding Oregon areas. I got the roasted strawberry and peanut butter fudge for my flavors in the small cup ($5.75) which is a good deal given that they allowed sampling other flavors. The stracciatella was creamy and the chocolate ones were fairly good too, but I wasn't as in the mood for that versus the 2 flavors I got. The strawberry one is amazing but I didn't really taste a difference in a supposed roasted flavor, and the peanut butter one was flavorful. The gelato overall is good but the process could be a bit better since I felt and bit into several small ice chunks while a good gelato should be a smooth velvet-like consistency.

The gelato was delicious and so creamy! My favorite flavor was the mascarpone flavor - I regret not taking a pint home! The servers were very sweet and gave me a few samples of their flavors. Perfect dessert!

A cute little gelato shop in Bend! Service was friendly and fast, you are able to try flavors before too. Got a regular size with brownies and coffee gelato and coffee chip gelato. Both were creamy, fresh, and had spot-on delicious flavors. Would highly recommend trying out or buying some of their pints!

Absolutely love this place! The staff is always friendly and they even gave me a small cup of vanilla for my foster puppy. Every flavor I've had is delicious. If you like gelato and/or ice cream go here. It does not disappoint! I enjoy going to their window counter location in East Bend. Plenty of parking and don't need to deal with downtown.

This place is hands down the best gelato spot I've ever been to--and I've tried quite a few. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a rainbow of flavors and the freedom to sample as many as you want (yes, really!). The staff is super friendly and patient, even when you're torn between ten different mouthwatering options. The gelato itself? Absolutely divine. Creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. I went with rootbeer and strawberry cream, and WOW. The rootbeer tasted exactly like sipping a cold rootbeer float--nostalgic and refreshing. The strawberry cream was velvety and perfectly sweet, like summer in a scoop. And let's talk portions. Most gelato places give you a sad little scoop scraped from the bottom of the bin. Not here. They stack it high and don't skimp. You get a generous, towering serving that feels like a true treat. I loved it so much, I came back twice before leaving Bend. If you're in town and even remotely into dessert, do yourself a favor and stop by. Your taste buds will thank you.

SO GOOD! There's always a queue, but it goes by quick. Bonta gelato IS THE SPOT for your gelato fix. Not only is their gelato creamy with the right level of sweetness, but they have incredible flavors too. Feel free to sample a few flavors before you take your pick. My favorites were Lavender and Stracciatella. Lavender is dairy free and blended with coconut milk. Located in downtown Bend, this is a must stop!

This gelato spot is always crowded and my mom and I decided to check it out tonight. The employees were really friendly and let you try as many flavors as you want. The mascarpone was my favorite-so creamy and milky, really good. They had a ton of other flavors too like roasted strawberry, coffee brownie, lime curd, and more. Some tables inside to sit. If you like gelato this spot was very high high quality.

Very authentic flavors and rich texture. Even the non-dairy options were very smooth and rich! THE WAIT A 5-10 minute wait on Wednesday 7/3 at at 7:30pm. The line was to the end of the store. By the time we left around 8:15, the line had crossed the alleyway next to Bonta. Salted Chocolate - 4.5 stars. Loved this, rich, subtlely salted. Roasted Strawberry & Honey - 4 stars. Really could taste the genuine strawberry flavor. Orange Cream - 4 stars. Quite literally tasted like creamsicles! Lemon Sorbetto - 4 stars. Quite rich, if you ate this it wouldn't be obvious it's dairy-free. Lavender - 3.5 stars. A little on the sweet side. Brownies & Coffee - 4.5 stars Coffee Chip - 4.5 stars. If you want more refreshing coffee flavor, this is a little better than Brownies & Coffee.

Took a quick trip to Bend and Bonta's gelato was so good that I went twice that weekend! Lots of really tasty flavors (nothing too out there, and lots of elevated classics). I went with the Stracciatella, Salted Chocolate, and Roasted Strawberries and Honey. Each flavor was so delicious and fresh. I loved texture of the Stracciatella - creamy with lots of little chocolate pieces that melt in your mouth. Service is quick and they don't rush you when asking for samples. The inside is cute and inviting - plenty of space to sit if you want to eat your ice cream inside! Would definitely come back next time I'm in the area! read more

This gelato surprised me. Great flavors, and I love that they allowed samples. We had salted chocolate, peanut butter fudge, and vanilla bourbon pecan. Delicious taste, but it was the consistency of the gelato that was the winner. Didn't melt too fast, sticky consistency. Loved it. read more

AMAZING gelato, esp on a 97 degree day in Bend (say what?) COVID safe (employees are still wearing masks) and everything is quite nicely spaced out. Ordered the 4oz with 2 flavors - Tumalo Lavender + Honey paired with Marionberry Blood Orange Sorbet (v) . The two flavors complemented each other very nicely. Normally I would have done all vegan flavors, but on a hot day, I needed real ice cream. I was originally going to order Turkish Coffee, but was told that this had a flavor of cardamom and would taste more like a Chai Latte than the typical coffee flavor. The Bonta cream and gelato truck was parked in Sisters on this very hot day. Just after quenching my thirst with ice tea, I walked passed the Bonato truck serving up artisan gelato. Bottom line: this place is a real treat (no pun intended) and it's a MUST visit when in Bend. Followed couple of Yelp reviews to this place and it didn't disappoint. There were a lot of good unique gelato flavors and it incorporated a local ingredients like Theo Chocolates. The customer service was also on-point. They were very helpful and patient as we asked to tried multiple flavors and gave us some suggested "scoops" (pun intended). The venue is very welcoming and clean. It can hold maybe one or two parties of five or more (inside) so plan ahead if you have a big party. In the summer or warmer days, there are tables/seats outside to enjoy your scoop of gelato. I definitely highly recommend this place when you're in Bend and like others reviews suggest- it's a MUST visit. read more

We went to Old Town Bend, OR to enjoy some after-dinner gelato. This place had a line out the door, and we ate in, preferring to watch people as we enjoyed a cool treat. The people are courteous and the service was very quick, even though there were many people, some of whom requested taste-spoons". The gelato was very good, but perhaps there was something off with my taste-buds that evening because all I was tasting was your basic Italian sweet cream. Nothing else came through. My wife's peanut butter fudge was more pronounced. Nevertheless, Bontà was a good excuse to suck down some extra calories. Recommended. read more

This place is honestly the best! They have flavor sampling available, and it was so hard to nail down just a few flavors to order. I like that you can still get 2 scoops in the smaller 4oz size if you get the waffle cone or cup! Their gelatos are creamy in that light gelato way, and the flavors are both delicate and strong at the same time. They aren't too sweet either which is a gold star for me. Very cute little gelato place in downtown bend. They are following COVID guidelines and are very friendly. The gelato was good, quite thick, but not the best I've had though. We got honey strawberry + frozen hot cocoa, and straciatella + hazelnut. The strawberry and hazelnut could've had stronger flavors. It is a good choice for dessert or a sweet treat while in bend though. read more

This is a chill little place in downtown. There's always a line so I thought, why the hell not. The flavors are unique. I ordered a small cup with two scoops. It was huge! Second time I went I ordered a kids cup. I had the caramel latte which was amazing, the sea salt chocolate and one other flavor I don't recall. They were all good! Very solid gelato. I came here with family for post-lunch dessert, and tried the Stracciatella and Strawberry Honey, both of which were delicious. They unfortunately do not offer samples anymore, which is entirely understandable given COVID. On the slightly more expensive side but certainly worth every penny given the quality. Yup... great ice cream, but to be honest, I don't think it's anything outstanding. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from Pumpkin Spice to Almond Butter Coffee. Their Salted Chocolate is incredible! I'll go here again often, but I also enjoy some of the ice cream you can find in the freezer department of your local grocery. read more

Yas for delicious, vegan gelato options! I got the chocolate coconut gelato and it was so creamy, I honestly couldn't even tell it was vegan. It wasn't overly sweet. I would order this flavor again, although the other flavors such as espresso brownie are ultra tempting. The people working there are so sweet and patient. This is by far the best gelato I have had in a long time and I frequent gelato places from home. The overall experience was great. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. I ended up getting a roasted strawberry and honey with vanilla bourbon pecan. They were both fantastic. My only regret is not going back to try some of the other flavors. read more

Bontà is a must in Bend. There is usually a line and it can take awhile but I assure you it's like Disney land, worth the wait for the experience! Staff are always friendly and prices are a little high but considering the product I think it's more than fair. There are allergy friendly options (contains coconut) in some of their flavors. I highly recommend the coconut strawberry and the salted chocolate. read more

Not only does this place have amazing gelato and a wide variety to choose from, they also have great service. I was also very happy they had gluten free cones which were just like regular ones. I also appreciated how they labeled which flavors contained wheat/gluten so I knew what I could choose from. Bonta is the place to get a taste of all of the best that Bend has to offer. On weekend evenings, the lines outside Bonta are long for a reason: the flavors and textures of the gelato are spot on, and the focus on local ingredients is apparent by the long list of local artisans represented in the ingredients on the menu. Our favorite flavors were the the peanut butter fudge (very rich and with the right balance of nuttiness and sweetness), lemon curd (wonderful tangy notes), and coconut lime (a great vegan option). The chocolate gelato was also excellent but was overwhelmed a bit by the peanut butter fudge when we paired them; if you are a chocolate purist, consider having the chocolate gelato on its own. Parking is easy in the garage next door. read more

The best gelato around. I'm addicted and can't stop going. I've been to Italy but this gelato is so much better! The gelato itself was SO GOOD. Bonta was born in Bend, where adventure comes naturally. Tucked between the Cascade Mountains and the Deschutes River, we love nothing more than exploring the great outdoors. Back at the creamery, we mix farm-fresh, wholesome goodness into every scoop, to fuel any adventure big or small.

History

Established in 2011.

Inspired and enlivened by a one year trip around the world, Jeff and Juli Labhart returned with a want to capture the flavors from the street stalls of Thailand, the spice fields of Zanzibar, the mountains of India, and other exotic locales into the creamy fresh goodness of gelato. Every small batch of Bontà gelato is hand-crafted using only the best ingredients with many coming from the Oregon countryside. For it was their travels that made them realize that many of the world's best ice cream ingredients can be found right here at home, also.

Meet the Business Owner: Juli L.

Jeff grew up in the dairy community of Tillamook, Oregon and at a young age understood that the reason the milk and cream tasted so good here in the Northwest was all of the tall, green grass the cows munched on all year long. Juli was raised in the berry community of Lynden, Washington, where in her younger years, she worked the berry fields. She still wonders why she was never fired, because it seemed more berries went into her mouth than the bucket.

Do you guys have any vegan options?

We do! We always have a minimum of four vegan options, but sometimes up to seven. We use organic coconut milk and have water-based sorbettos. We are also looking at making some new oat milk flavors.

Then I wandered past epic niche character candies like Krabby Patties, Red Fox Animal Poo Cotton Candy, and gummy sushi setups. The back of the store amplified the original Willie Wonka movie on a big video board. The shop is stocked and tight, good that means more candy. There is ice cream and a chocolate/confections case. The girl working on the busty rainy Saturday was communicative and kind despite doing 4 things at once. This is a classic candy shop. Do you want to eat crickets? You can! But I'll settle for my colas. A Jones soda bottle cap was on the bench outside where I sat to write this review, the inside read, "you are worthy of good things." Cravin's made me believe that a little more. Thanks!
