We have dined at several different locations The Venice location is convenient and we were greeted and quickly accommodated at 500pm on a Saturday. The hostess was pleasant and understood i needs seating in a wheelchair ! The menu is excellent and we found the. Meal for two was perfect for us and our guests. The Mahi was excellent a nice portion and cooked properly and seasoned . Veggie selection and salad was very good The special is a great price and if dining on a budget a good value Will return and that's my best endorsement ! I am not one to leave bad reviews but our experience here left us sick and manager did nothing in response. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and immediately noticed that the smell was very strong and the taste was off. Something was not right. The waitress Lindsey was kind, noticed we did not finish the appetizer and took it off the bill. At that point, we had already ordered our main meal and we were hopeful that it would be better. I got the shrimp tacos and the tortillas were burnt black, we split a Mac n cheese which had no flavor (Kraft would have been better) but the truffle fries were good. All in all, we spent about $100 with one cocktail, one soft drink, one order fish and chips, one order shrimp tacos, and one side order mac n cheese to split. As soon as we were driving home we started feeling ill. Ended up getting sick all night (I'll spare you those details) and so we called the store to inform them that we were sick and wanted to know if there was anything else we could do or if anyone else was sick. This is about 23 hours after our reservation time. The manager Logan Kuntz said, and I quote, "all the crab cakes that were left over from yesterday were sold today and no one has been sick"... you're telling me you don't make these fresh each day? How old were my crab cakes exactly? He said he would offer to get us a food item if we came back.. we said no thanks. Won't catch me at a Bonefish ever again He laughed and said if he comped the bill in any way he would be "admitting that his crab cakes got us sick" and that he "wasn't there when we got sick". We had dinner at the Venice location to night. I had called ahead and we were seated right away on arrival. Our server was Tabatha and she couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. We both had the sea bass, which was perfect. Tabatha even checked with the bar to see if they could make a speciality drink. They could and it was wonderful. Had any early dinner there tonight. We were immediately served hot bread with the best dipping oil to dunk it in. We split an order of Bang Bang Shrimp and it was crispy and saucey and so good. I ordered the Chicken Marsala with sides of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. I was worried that the chicken would be dry and tough because it didn't look like it was pounded out, but was pleasantly surprised that it was moist and tender. The sauce was thin, but tasty and had mushrooms. My husband had the Steak and Shrimp and the same sides as me. He liked his steak but said he'd had better. We were both pleased with our food and our server was attentive, and was quick to refill our drinks and more bread. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. I have had mostly positive experiences at Bonefish Grill until the recent Prisoner of Love dinner last night week. We made original reservations for four which I then changed to two as part of our party was not yet in Florida. Keep in mind that this dinner was $60 pp for a lovely 4 course meal with wine. Well, we arrived at 6:30 which was the time of the reservation. We entered into chaos. First, the host could not find our reservation anywhere. Then he was sidetracked with multiple interruptions, leaving us in a state of confusion. Eventually we entered the dining room on our own to find a table. All of the tables were pushed together to form "cafeteria style" dining. There was barely room between the lines of tables. The room was packed and the noise level was deafening. No waitress was helping us so we sat in the first open booth and waited. After about 10 minutes a waitress rushed up to ask us to move as the booth was reserved for non Prisoner of Love diners. She directed us to two open chairs somewhere in the crowded line of tables. Were we going to spend at least $60 per person to eat like this in a crowded, noisy cafeteria? No. We politely got up and left and headed to another favorite restaurant where we spent more than $60 pp but had a warm, quiet meal with excellent food. had dinner here with some friends on Saturday. George was our waiter, he made the experience fun. started with the Calamari which was good nice and tasty. I had the fish and chips which was just ok, my wife had the twin lobster tails and found them to be just ok, her comment was the drawn butter was not really drawn butter. our company at dinner also had the fish and chips along with a pasta dish. their comments were it was just ok. The place was packed! We were so excited to see the activity as we were out celebrating my parents anniversary. Seated promptly with our reservation at a table that felt like we were in their way. Bustling with customers taking their seats. The staff was hustling to take care of everyone! Everyone had to pass our table to be seated I would get bumped. The server kept telling us how she was working doubles but when she came to our table she could only handle one drink order at a time. Of the drink orders placed, 1 of them made it to our table. The dinner order placed was not the one I received. The food looked like it was going to taste good but had no flavor at all. It seems they have given up on all attempts to flavor the food given the predominantly sr clientele. Helping my mom navigate the walkway to the bathroom was difficult in the narrow path that had become narrower with chairs and tables. I got her in the bathroom only to have to leave her there to navigate my way to the front hostess stand to get toilet paper- it was completely out.. Will not be back. They want to fill seats, turn tables not be bothered with the small details of flavor or fulfilling an order. read more

The meal arrived looking heavy and the shrimp and scallops withered. On my drive home, I experienced intestinal issues and as soon as I got home, experienced a severe case of food poisoning and spent the evening with vomiting and diarrhea. I called the restaurant to warn and complain. The manager did not sound empathic. I was told I would get a call the next day and never did. I am sure others had the same experience that night. I have gone to Bonefish many times, but I have to say today for lunch was my best experience. I took my mother here for lunch because she had never been. Our server Lacy was just the best I enjoyed every aspect of our engagement. She was so friendly and personable and made our experience that much better. She got our drinks and appetizers all at perfect timing and even paced us because I can be a bit greedy and I never felt rushed. I asked her the chefs name because the food was absolutely amazing. She said his name was Alex. I want to say thank u Alex the food was extraordinary. My mom and I asked for the manager who was Melissa and we told her how great the overall service was. She was so friendly and appreciative that we had a great lunch. I just want to say lastly again a true thank u for making our experience so great today and I definitely will be back soon. read more

Looking for a restaurant when I got into town after a long flight from LA was quite the challenge. We happened to come across Bonefish Grill and we were so hungry we decided to just stop in. It was the best decision. Our server Bryan was amazing, I told him I wasn't a seafood eater and I was sort of hesitant ordering meat from a seafood restaurant. Bryan recommended the filet Mignon with the spinach and mashed potatoes. It was the BEST!! I wish I lived in the area because I would definitely come back. We had the opportunity to also work with Brian the manager and he was great as well. If you are near Venice stop in and ask for Bryan I am sure you will be as impressed with him and the food as I am. read more

Good Evening.....I just left your restaurant and it's very clear when your just a little busy your service folds like a cheap suit. My waiter Gus approached my table about 10 minutes after being seated. Ordered drinks and asked for bread and then waited. Gus returned in about 10 minutes and mentioned our drinks will be ready soon and then took our food order. Another 15 minutes went by seeing my waiter everywhere but by us I asked a female waiter to look for our drinks. She returned in 2 minutes with our drinks. Another 20 minutes went by and our food arrived by a different waiter. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp. The shrimp was hot but fries were cold. 10 minutes later the bread we asked for arrived by another waiter and we sent it back. We were almost done eating when Gus returned and aske how everything was. I commented about the drinks, the bread and the cold dinner. Gus answer was throwing in a free desert. I have been to the two Sarasota Bonefish locations and have to say Venice needs to learn from them! 4 of us went last night, with reservations, were seated at the worst table right by the kitchen, never got any silverware, etc. had to ask 3 times for water from 3 different people. Waitress seemed new/confused. I ordered salmon with lemon caper butter...with cole slaw and potatoes. I got broccoli..and asked if that was lemon caper butter. The runner who brought it seemed not to know. I sent it back...got the worst cole slaw (you would think a seafood restaurant could at least make decent cole slaw) . The two very small pieces of salmon were dry and overcooked. There was some sort of little container of a white sauce. Having sent it back once, and my tablemates almost finished, I tried to eat it. Someone in the kitchen has no idea of the proper way to cook salmon. I took it home to see if my dog would eat it. We waited very long for everything, including the checks, which were mixed up and had to be redone. This place is a train wreck. I'll never go to Bonefish again! read more

Not worth the 25 charge This week went for lunch Service slow. Took over 40 min to get an undercooked fish sandwich . . Think soggy. Thr other meal, an undercooked soggy, chicken picatta with an upcharge for a thin lemon slice and 3 capers. Broccoli steamed, mashed potatoes served in a hard mound like they scooped it with an ice cream scoop. Presentation was not good. Not sure what the attraction is at this place. Don't know about all the five stars here - it's a good go- to say while out shopping or doing errands , not a destination kind of place . Limited draft beers and if those nothing local or craft . There's a definite predilection toward including piggy swine in lots of stuff - corporate has some swine aficionados for sure - nobody seems to realize that if the fish is good enough it can stand on its own . Non-meat eaters forget things like the corn crab and ( bacon ) chowder, the mac and cheese ( bacon ), etc., etc. Place gets busy quick ! Corporate may want to open a second or third location in the general vicinity . Our calamari app was good - appreciated that the sauce w it is different than the usual marinara. We had boom boom shrimp tacos - more single boom as not quite spicy . Catchy name but we think of them as boom shrimp . You get three which is a good policy too . Had a salmon dish w broccoli and mashed taters too . Pretty good - though a pet peeve is when they serve the mashed w an ice cream scoop-like device . Institutional ! It was a Togo order that should have been ready when we arrived, but took an extra 25 minutes of waiting in the Togo area after no one came out with our order. I even made a joke when we got home that "I hope I don't get food poisoning". The reason for the hold up was they were out of Togo containers for the pesto dipping sauce for the bread. It has been a while since we had a meal here and decided to stop in for dinner. Ordered drinks and that went well then we ordered the Poke appetizer. I've had Ahi Poke many times but never with a sweet sauce, yuk! Sweet fish, why?! The menu had no mention of a sweet sauce covering the dish, so sent it back. We then decided to order the beef and ginger potstickers. I don't know about you but this dish is something you find in many restaurants but here they deep fry them into hard fortune cookie and the meat is an unappealing grey flavorless mush. In addition, it's served without a dipping sauce. After two disappointments, we went straight to ordering dinner. I ordered Caesar salad with a wood grilled blackened salmon. My husband ordered grilled scallops and shrimp with broccoli and lemon risotto. First of all, there was very little lettuce in my Caesar salad and the blackened salmon was tasteless. Blackened salmon is supposed to be packed with herbs and spices. My husband's meal was worse. The broccoli was steamed but bare, the risotto was as if a whole lemon was squeezed into the risotto leaving no room for any other flavor and the shrimp and scallops were fishy. Of course he sent it back and the waitress said she would inform the manager. Maybe 15 minutes later, the manager came to our table. I honestly don't know what's going on with this restaurant and/or the company but this manager was talking to my husband as if he was a "dude". There was no professionalism in his words or demeanor. I've noticed that the lack of professionalism seems to be a recent practice among many companies today. As if it's a new and hip way to do business in today's business practice world. Well, I can tell you after many years in management that it doesn't help to extend the life of your business. When you spend your hard earned money in a place that charges high prices and advertises itself as a top quality restaurant, you expect more from top to bottom. Yes, this is a chain and you only expect so much but for a few years now we've notice some unappealing changes that are not conducive to running businesses that cater to the public, especially if you bill yourself as a higher or high end establishment. We had an experience at this same restaurant a few years back and wrote about it here and miraculously, that review disappeared. As I observed the staff taking orders and serving food to other tables, I noticed chef aprons/coats on some of them, black shirts/pants on others and one lady with a red shirt. It appeared to me that the chefs, bus staff and manager were doing all the work. Even the hostess was taking orders. The staff excelled in serving their customers without a complaint from anyone (that is, to the diners). Great job to all! And thank you for making our experience a good one. They were out of goat so I had the pork tacos (the pineapple - pork combo was not to sweet); son had the grouper sandwich; mom had the trio salad; and grandpa had shrimp. Everything was superb!
