Who knew Chef Rolf's was such a great choice for pizza? By chance on New Year's Eve, we ordered a large Margherita pizza to-go, and it was fantastic. The crust was perfectly crisp yet soft inside, the sauce had just the right balance of tang and sweetness. The fresh mozzarella was thick and gooey and basil was perfect. While I've always associated Chef Rolf's with other types of cuisine, this pizza has definitely put it on my radar for a casual meal. Check out the photo. I don't know about the other things on their menu. It all looks good, but at this time I can highly recommend giving their pizza a try--you won't regret it. Salute! read more

We made a reservation for Mother's Day and we were very disappointed. We did not know that it was going to be a buffet and it was $40.00 pp. The buffet containers looked old, the choices were marginal at best. There wasn't anything special like carved meat station, or omelet station, and only two types of cake offered for dessert, the iced tea was made from a powder and was warm and the air conditioner was not working. Chef Rolf's indoor dining is not to be confused with the boisterous Tiki hut outsic e by the pool. We had an excellent dinner and superior service in a nice quiet room inside. I recommend the baked flounder. My son-in-law bad a big fat burger with onion rings, my wife had shrimp, and my daughter had tha fish special. All good! I also had the escargot, dripping in garlic butter. We took the chocolate cake home, we were stuffed! And the prices were reasonable. Chef Rolf is amazing! He did the food for our wedding and it was one of the highlights for all of our guests! He customized the food exactly to our liking, including dishes from both of our backgrounds! We have been back several times since for brunch and dinner, which never disappoints. This is a tough review to write. If I excluded the service, probably would have been 5 stars, but there were such issues with service. There is an advertised happy hour that ends at 5:30pm. We were seated by 5:20, however we had to "grab" our waitress to get our orders in. One order of edamame (appetizer) was requested by a guest with shrimp for her dinner. Another order of the grouper sandwich, and two hamburgers. The waitress offered asparagus as a substitute for the fries (two of us took that option.) The food was delish (burgers were both well done when medium rare was requested). The ambiance is nice, essentially poolside with live music entertainment. The edamame and shrimp came out ahead of everything else! The checks were a nightmare. No happy hour prices, she took it back to adjust and it was at least 5 minutes before returning. Then we notice a $6 up charge for the asparagus swap (on a $12 entree!). Frustration again, led to some of us leaving cash for the right amount as remediation was taking forever. Chef Rolfe's, New Florida Kitchen is located within the Casey Key Resort. Our first impression was a large room empty, cold with a myriad of tables undressed except for two. A hostess/waitress quickly appeared and we opted to sit at the clothed table, we were the only customers in the restaurant that seemed to be un inviting. Our waitress was engaging and took drink orders and advised us of the "specials" Prime Rib and New York Strip. My wife and Daughter ordered the Prime Rib and our friend and I opted to order from the Swiss Specialties. I ordered the 20 oz Schweinshaxe (Osso Bucco) and our friend the Schweins Kotelettas (Pork Chops). In short everything about our meals was absolutely amazing and perfect. I rated this restaurant as a four star due to initial looks at decor and ambience but the food is definitely five star. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Although they are not on the menu, chef kindly obliged blackened tuna tacos which were soooo good. Served with hot fresh French fries. Split the fried apple desert among 3 of us. How disappointing. We enjoy going to lunch and learns or seminars that offer dinners at area restaurants. This offers two benefits , we learn something new and get to try a new place to return to. We enjoyed our seminar but the food at Chef Rolfs was least to be desired ( heard he was on vacation, no excuse). The bottom of the water carafe had mold and we had to ask for another. The food was another story . Where do I begin? First there was only one person eating at the bar and there were 8 people in the seminar. Shouldnt be too difficult. You would think . We were allowed to pick anything off of the lunch menu. I chose the steak caesar salad and my fiance chose the Rueben . He totally disliked his. I can see why. . What was described as a traditional Rueben (Marble Rye, swiss , kraut , thousand island dressing) came out with what looked like a bunch of dinner rolls pieced together and a piece of cheddar cheese on top) asked for mustard and the server gave him a few packets. Didnt feel like we were at a nice hotel restaurant) Mine was a whole different story. I got a steak caesar salad which was described as a salad with chopped tomatoes, onion and blue cheese with steak on top. What I received was a chopped hamburger on top which was supposed to be cooked medium if was the steak that was advertised . There were no tomatoes, onions or Blue cheese and the hamburger was uncooked in many areas . We didnt dare ask for replacements because one, they never came back to check how our meals were . The seminar was over by then , so they wouldnt be interrupted. But the other reason, a lady who returned her chop steak salad because it was raw. Sat there while everyone ate and was beginning to leave had no lunch that entire time . If staff that was working couldnt handle 9 people in the whole restaurant, how is it when its season ? I also feel sorry for the business that paid for our meals , because three meals were horrible. Well at least we now know and don't have to go back . Not even for a free seminar . Our server was very attentive and there was background piano player. This place has a lot of potential. The physical layout of the fine dining area needs to be a bit smaller and made more intimate. Our server was funny and worked with the chef to ensure our accommodations were met. the ceviche was better than expected. the scallops were outstanding and cooked to where they melted in my mouth. As we drove the Tamiami Trail, we were surprised at how crowded the restaurants were. As we entered Chef Rolf's, it was and remained quite empty during our meal. Our server came over to ask if we wanted anything to drink, and after my wife and I gave our orders, we were told there was no bartender and the servers had to make the drinks and the two we asked for (which were on the menu) were difficult to make and he wasn't sure he could make them. My wife changed her order, but I stayed with mine. I should have changed; he really couldn't make the NFK Mojito. As he gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu, I opened my napkin to get out utensils. The knife I uncovered was covered in fingerprints. When our server returned to take our order, I showed him the knife and asked for another service. He brought it over and as I unrolled the napkin, the second knife was no better. I was considering leaving, but my wife wanted to stay. We ordered Calamari to share, and it was light and crisp. For our entrée I ordered the Garlic Crusted Sea Bass which came with a Prime Salad. It was a very sad-looking salad with one piece of cucumber. My wife ordered Kalbsrahmschinitzel (veal/mushroom brandy sauce with spatzle). She was generally pleased. My Crusted Sea Bass was hot and flaky, but tasteless. And instead of the roasted cauliflower, my order came with asparagus and rice. We did not linger for coffee or dessert. And while bread plates were at our table, no bread ever appeared. I doubt we will return. What bummed me out beside the condition of the utensils was the indifference of our server. We both felt that our being there was an inconvenience. This is a high-end restaurant: our bill for food and two drinks was $132.00, for that I would expect an attentive server, good food, and clean utensils. read more

Dining is currently in the middle of the hotel next to the pool and outdoor bar - relaxing location - star 1 There were 3 other tables w patrons all of whom had their food and 2 of which left within 10 minutes of us sitting - so it wasn't busy in terms of kitchen load The server was a nice young guy who only had been on job for 9 days so I'm not going to comment on the service - he was polite / friendly but at the mercy of the bar and kitchen speeds which were lacking - 1/2 star We ordered wine to start - my wife's Hahn Pinot ($14) was served room temperature but, in this case it's pool side in Florida and it was very warm - when we couldn't flag the waiter down she grabbed a few cubes and chilled it - but for $14 you shouldn't need to My beer - cold which is great - 1/2 star Dinner Ordered oysters to start and then a burger and Thai chili shrimp to share for meal Oysters came with 2 packs of crackers ------ versus a basket or enough for all the oysters Cocktail sauce was bland with no real horseradish punch at all The Thai chili jumbo shrimp was soggy breaded and the sauce was again bland - as can see in pic - it looked like a pile of mushy fried things on the plate My wife Ordered the NFK style burger medium and it came out medium well Good fries thou The amazing part was when we ordered we were the only folks there who placed a kitchen order from the kitchen where Rolf and his sous chef were working --- how does the food come out the way it did when the namesake chef is back there cooking ? We were told the food was great. It was so so. Had Eggs Benedict and had very little sauce. It was tasty but The ham was very fatty. It also took a long time just to get coffee since there was only 1 very nice waitress who was not able to keep up with all the customers. She told us they had some offer for BOGO (we didn't have that) and they should have giver her at least one more person to assist. My friend thought he was getting home fries with his French toast but didn't. $12.59 for 2 pieces of French toast is really not a great value. The food was excellent, and our service that night with Roy (the bar manager) was excellent. They were a bit slow, like most restaurants these days, but we were happy to support a local restaurant. Our first time there, the food was great, wine list was "ok", hard to say what the ambiance is/was being that it was in large part empty. I can imagine if this place is full it has a different feel to it. While it was maybe not as "modern" as some of the other new places, the open kitchen was cool, they had a piano player playing music all night and overall the food and service was very good. So is it a "must visit" for me, no probably not...but I also don't think you can go wrong here if you want a nice dinner and something that isn't a chain or isn't in the hub of tourist stuff. You can tell almost everyone in there was local, so that's a good sign the food is always good. And the chef came by and said hi which was a nice personal touch also. Booked for Thanksgiving meal, but were very disappointed...the food was okay but the ambiance was more like a school lunchroom. It was a buffet and we didn't realize that we had booked the last seating. Food had been sitting around for a while -- and you could certainly tell that the staff was disgusted and ready to leave. They weren't attentive and rushed us through what should have been a pleasant, leisurely meal. The staff was ornery -- we ate dinner in 45 minutes, feeling rushed.
