Thought about coming here for Mother's Day as we are all on vacation, but we went to another local steakhouse for Mother's Day. We came here a few days after on vacation. Kind of annoying that they do not take reservations, but we were able to get a seat relatively quickly. I cannot express enough, how great the food was. I don't wanna bash the other steak place, but it ended up being in a strip mall and wasn't great. This entire meal was amazing. We got the escargot appetizer. Exceptional. Tableside Caesar salad, 10 out of 10. They had plenty of steak options. They had a New York strip special. I ended up getting the bone in ribeye, which was dynamite. I recommend the truffle butter. The ambience was somewhat old-school vibe with new school vibe in-house dining. if you were someone who struggles with loud environments if you're hearing aids, this place will be an issue. We ate their on Easter Sunday after shark teeth hunting. We had zero expectations as we chose fun over food because we have 4 kids (youngest being 5 & 7). When we left the beach at around 5 we went here to see what was close and had a decent rating. This place looked good so I called to see if there was a dress code ( we were coming straight from the beach so although we put dry clothes on we were very casual). Luckily for us there wasn't a dress code and there was no wait!!! It was already off to a good start. Rarely do you find popovers / Yorkshire pudding. Walking into Prime is like walking into an old style Chicago restaurant. The entrance is stunning with a wall of wine bottles. The decor is burgundy and black and the lighting is dim. Five stars for the ambiance. Hubby and I sat at the bar which may have been a mistake because the bar staff seemed overworked, tired and bored. Two stars for the service. We started with the Caesar salad. It was crispy, not overdressed and had nice crunchy croutons. The hunks of Parmesan really made this salad. Also the portion was generous. I didn't love the popover. They were cold and didn't add to the meal. I had the prime steak burger which I enjoyed. The exterior had nice grill marks, the meat was tender and cooked to perfect medium as requested. Hubby had the petite filet and pronounced the meat chewy and tough. He didn't even finish it and said it was similar to steak from lower end chain restaurants. Four stars for the food. Will I return. Went here for lunch. Almost had the place to ourselves. The server was attentive and the atmosphere was nice. Not too stuffy but a tad bit upscale. The food was really good. Everyone enjoyed their steaks which were cooked just as ordered. I requested a horseradish crust or side that never came out. The only really complaint was a few mosquitoes inside that were tearing us up. I think we're still scratching from all the bites. Either way we will be back again another time. Arrived and seated promptly. 16 minutes until greeted by server and drinks ordered. 15 more minutes until drinks arrived. Food ordered and salad/bread delivered @ 20 minutes later. Dinner arrived @ 10 minutes after that delivered by food runner. We had to remove salad plates ourselves as server had not returned to pre-bus the table. Server checked back @ 15 minutes later to see if we needed anything. Well we did need a few things but too late at this point. Food was very good. Service was very sub-standard for the prices and status of this restaurant. Four of us went to prime steakhouse in Venice, Florida for a Valentines day lunch. This is an upscale steak and seafood restaurant. It's very elegantly decorated including a small bar. My wife and I split the blackened prime rib and had the hassle back potatoes. Both were delicious, but they also serve a huge house salad that is shared by the table with some sort of delicious puffer bread. the other couple split the ribeye with a loaded baked potato. They said it was also delicious. The Service was a very polite young man that took great care of us. I wish I would've taken some pictures, but we were so hungry and the food looked so good, We couldn't wait. We will definitely go back oh by the way they do not take reservations. read more

We were impressed from when we first walked in with how swanky the atmosphere was and the jazz music. the. we were totally impressed with the server Amanda who was soooo nice and welcoming. we felt like we were a guest at a friends house! French Onion Soup - solid 4. Tasty and the onions were made to perfection. Could have used some more cheese on top but other than that worth ordering. Pop overs - an interesting and different choice of bread. Not bad but I'd prefer something more traditional. Cinnamon butter was a fun twist. Blackened Prime Rib - Fantastic! 5/5 for sure. The rub is so much better than expected and an explosion of flavor. More on the salty side but, personally, I didn't even need a sauce to dip it in. I'd easily order it again. Fries were also very flavorful. Small filet - dry but because it was ordered too well done. Lobster Mac and Cheese - unfortunately no flavor. Not worth it, especially for an $8 upgrade. Kids meal was phenomenal for what it was! Salmon was really good. Filet mignon - cooked well but unfortunately not much flavor. Just tasted like a sirloin. Dense but not juicy or soft. Overall, it's a hit or miss here. Server was very friendly and attentive, ambiance was just fine (average), but wait for seating and food were extra slow. Given how I lucked out with what I ordered I'd give this place a 4 but if I ordered differently I might have given it just a 3. I do enjoy going here. I love the lobster stuffed mushrooms and we love most of the steaks ( have not tried them all). Best t it is hit or missed as on occasion most of the time it is right on, but we have had a few visits where the meat is tough. Usually only if it is busy. But i don't want to say every busy time. As I don't want to discourage. And it is possible my fault for not complaining as I am not that type of person. But it was still good just not as good. So please come and enjoy. What a more-than-pleasant surprise! Many years ago I visited Prime in Sarasota without a reason to return. It's no longer there, but THIS location/experience was a delight! My sister and I each had a petite Filet, one cooked medium, the other medium rare and they each were done to perfection, with a touch of seasoning that let the quality of the steak shine-so much appreciated! Our table side-prepared Caesar salad again was just perfect without being drenched in overwhelming dressing. Prime is known for the popovers, and as someone who doesn't typically eat bread, I had to try and found them to be light and flaky, almost like a croissant. Aiden, our server, suggested the garlic mashed potatoes which is my weakness, and they were decadent, but the side choices included broccoli, baked potatoes, mac and cheese, spinach, twice baked potatoes, or steak fries...I may be missing some but something for everyone. Highly recommend the mashed! We enjoyed their Cabernet from the cask (HH prices before 6pm). Again, spot on, and I'm sorry I don't recall the vineyard, but my sister, the wine connoisseur, recognized it immediately. Not bad for the "house selection!" Service was impeccable, with Aiden allowing us to pace our meal, and enjoy each other's company without feeling rushed and our courses promptly delivered. Diners around us were parties of 2-8, and all seemed to be enjoying their meals as well. We were seated in the "back room," And while it was full of lively and festive customers, we could comfortably carry on our conversation while still enjoying the upbeat vibe. Seating across the restaurant consists of booths, high tops, tables, and bar with several TV screens. Although we were in view of the bar, we didn't experience any ambient sound from that area. Aiden could not have been more attentive, checking in with us on our satisfaction during each course, and was very helpful explaining menu options. I'm really not sure why this is not more predominantly listed on Yelp in the Venice area, but it deserves to be! This is prolly my third trip to this location in a year or so. I decided to go back due to the food and a promotion I recently discovered. I went in Tuesday evening around 6:45 and the place was absolutely packed! Table took about 45 minutes to get seated and the like was out the door. Even though the place was packed the service was as quick as it possibly could be considering. Due to the large crowds the restaurant was a bit noisy with a large party of about 30 seated in the upstairs loft but nothing too annoying. Our server was extremely friendly and the food came out quickly and hot. We decided to partake in the Summer of savings deal for two. Wasn't not disappointed per usual and extremely well priced. This review is specifically regarding the summer special 2 for $42 for summer of 2024. It is an amazing deal. The meal is fabulous. Why three stars? Because the service is terrible. It is not an issue of not having enough staff. It's an issue of not training the staff. Our server, Sean made a point of telling us that he was one of the best ones there. This is always a TELL. Unfortunately, he didn't display his talents with us on this visit. It took him over 45 minutes to get our drink orders. When he did bring our drinks, he disappeared for another 15 before he came over to get our dinner order. This is on a Monday work night. We were seated for over one hour and a half before he showed up with the salads, and at that point said that he would be bringing the popovers cause they were making fresh ones. Meanwhile, I observed other servers who actually brought the salad with the popovers to their tables. When we finally got our dinner, two hours into our visit, he failed to bring steak knives. I observed other servers bringing the steak knives to their guest tables before their dinners arrived. Now understand Sean was visible, traveled by our table several times, just didn't bring us anything. On the meal: The teriyaki strip was delicious. Perfectly cooked with a massive loaded potato. The potato came with sour cream, butter, yellow cheese melted, and bacon bits. I had to bring half of it home because it was too big. My husband got the steak strip, no sauce on it, but perfectly cooked. He liked the steak but felt that it needed some sauce so he settled for A-1 sauce. He did say that mine tasted better. He got it with asparagus. He said the asparagus were delicious. He too brought food home. The meals comes with an unlimited salad. The salad is mixed greens with cucumbers, couple tomatoes, onions, croutons, and their house dressing, which was rather good. The popovers, which is basically bread in a little bun with a hole in the middle were cold but flavorful. If Sean had been on task, we might've had more salad and we might've gotten the popovers while they were still fresh out of the oven. But that clearly did not happen for us. You get a choice of their chocolate mousse cake or the limoncello. We went with the chocolate mousse and ended up bringing it home because it we just didn't have any room for it. Yes, we will definitely come back during the summer to get this deal again for their other things on the menu that we would enjoy. The last 3 visits have been disappointing, Order wine and cocktails,and upon waiters return for your order they say sorry,we just ran out of Prime rib.A total of 3 separate occasions,We were seated by 7 pm. This is a steak house,thier business is steak.Its. not rocket science to plan how much Prime rib you sell and make adequate amounts to serve your customers needs.I spoke to to manager and was told Sorry it takes hour to cook,I said it's all in your planning and management style ,It happens all the time,Again SORRY. We visited Prime Serious Steak after our installation event on Saturday evening, and it was a delightful experience overall. The restaurant is stunning both inside and out. As we walked in, we passed a long bar with bar tops, perfect for those interested in a more casual setting. Our large group was seated at big tables near the kitchen, which had an industrial vibe with stainless steel tables and custom cutting boards as table settings. To celebrate, I ordered the Blood Orange Manhattan. It was very tasty, though I felt it could have filled the glass a bit more. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. I started with the Prime Salad, prepared tableside, which was a great presentation. The salad was good, but I kept finding the "butts" of the lettuce leaves, which was a bit off-putting; I can eat one or two but I found several. The house Parmesan dressing was nice and there was a good mix of items in the salad. The onion soup I ordered was HUGE! I could have had just that and the salad and been satisfied. The soup was topped with a slice of their famous fresh-baked popover bread. The flavor was amazing, and the caramelized onions were perfect. For the main course, I really wanted to try the wellington, but the previous reviews have turned me away. I opted for the French Quarter (14 oz) NY Strip topped with blackened shrimp and remoulade sauce. Before our entrees arrived, they brought out a rack of super sharp, hot knives, which was a nice touch. The steak was cooked to order (medium-rare) and beautifully seared. The flavors were amazing, and the shrimp with the remoulade sauce complemented the steak perfectly for a light surf and turf experience. The sides I chose were the Hasselback potato (with just sour cream, butter, and S&P) and grilled asparagus in a Béarnaise sauce. Both sides were good but didn't overshadow the steak. For dessert, we were treated to a flambé ice cream with amaretto and 151, rolled and drizzled while on fire over the ice cream. They tossed cinnamon on top, creating impressive flashes of fire. The presentation was fantastic, and the dessert was delicious. The only downside was the parking. It's quite tight, with some additional parking available further down past the restaurant where commuters park during the day, requiring a pass; however after 6 PM, this area becomes extended parking for the restaurant. Overall, Prime Serious Steak offers a wonderful dining experience with a few minor areas for improvement. We had a great time and would come back again if we lived closer but would DEFINATELY recommend it to others. read more

I've dined at Prime Steakhouse in Venice a few times now, hoping each visit would be better than the last. Unfortunately, my most recent experience confirmed what I've felt before -- this simply isn't a restaurant I would recommend. To be fair, the steak itself was ok, could have been good but because it was sent back, it was overcooked. Unnecessary since the steak wasn't the issue. The service was fine. Nothing above average. But for a restaurant that positions itself as a steakhouse, some basics should be second nature. The biggest issue came when I ordered my steak "Oscar Style." For anyone familiar with steakhouse classics, Oscar Style traditionally means asparagus, lump crab meat, and a béarnaise or hollandaise-style sauce. Prime's menu even described it clearly. The first time my dish arrived, the Oscar topping was missing entirely. Mistakes happen, so I politely sent it back. What returned was an overcooked filet topped with a dry, crumbling crab cake -- no visible asparagus, no sauce, and certainly not Oscar Style. When I questioned it, I was told the menu had changed and that the asparagus was now "ground up into the crab cake." That explanation raised more questions than answers. Oscar Style doesn't include breadcrumbs, nor does it omit the sauce -- yet both were missing and clearly the asparagus was not ground up into the cake, this was insulting. Just say, we ran out of the Oscar topping, could I get you some bearnaise sauce? It was insulting. And to make matters worse the staff continued to insist this was the way it was suppose to be and my waiter had been away so he didn't realize. I let it go, I'm not a complainer and I wasn't looking for a free meal. It was the excuses rather than simply acknowledging the mistake or explaining an ingredient shortage, the response felt dismissive and oddly defensive. Being told, in essence, that I didn't understand what I ordered added unnecessary frustration to an already disappointing meal. read more

We have visited Prime many times over the years. After an initial mediocre dinner, we limited our visits to sitting at the bar, enjoying a drink and sharing appetizers, salads, etc. It is a convenient location that stays open a bit later. Returned for a full birthday dinner -- expecting to celebrate with a good bottle of wine. Realized the menu had been changed. A few food items removed ... and the wine list greatly reduced. Then I started to inspect the prices. A $15 of Plungerhead Cabernet from Lodi, CA was $54 ... more than triple-retail! Most of the others were 2 1/2 times the retail price. That's price-gouging. Skipped the wine and had two Tito's Vodka martinis (reasonably priced at $12 ... but not a full glass). Enjoyed the nice salad that comes with each dinner, especially when asked to go light on the dressing. It was drenched in the past. Now time for the steak. My wife and I ordered the 6 ounce Petite Filet Mignon, medium rare. It was shocking when delivered to the table. One was half the size of the other. It was probably more like 3 ounces. Our server, Hallie, who was extremely efficient and pleasant, tried to explain that it had to do with the way it was cooked. Granted, both were cooked perfectly to our liking ... and very tasty. But that tiny piece of meat sitting on the big plate was a joke. Four pieces of tasty grilled asparagus did not make up for the lonely piece of meat. We split a tasty piece of salted caramel cheesecake for desert. This very up-and-down experience will probably drive us back to the bar in future visits. NOT a fine dining experience. read more

I ate here on a Monday and the restaurant was bustling with activity but was not super crowded. Our server, Jordan, was the sweetest and most personable. Our meal was enhanced by the superb service. This was my first time at this restaurant and I found the food to be delicious. I especially enjoyed the table-side made salad which I could've made a meal of on its own. The Blackened Ahi Tuna appetizer was excellent and the accompanying sauce really kicked it up a notch. One small discrepancy I encountered was I thought my meal was not as described (I ordered the red snapper that said it was "pan seared" with a citrus crust and the piece of fish I received seemed deep fried). It was tasty regardless and perhaps the management can just update the menu to reflect the change in preparation if there was one. I also liked that sweet potatoes were an option for a side starch. The popovers that were given before the meal had awesome texture and were a nice treat. By the end of the meal I physically not eat dessert because I was so full from dinner.
