I've come here off and on as a friend and I both like fish and this is a midpoint for us. Unfortunately I wasn't thrilled with this visit. I had a reservation midweek for lunch and the door the sign directed me to use was locked. Ok. They open in two minutes. I'll try in a few. Ten minutes later, it is still locked so I tried another and found it open. My dining partner was running 10 minutes late so I advised her of the door situation. Yes. Still locked. Use the door we were directed not to open. Small issue. Let's move on. We were the only ones in the dining room so you would expect stellar service. Not quite. The person who seated us was great. The waitress was pleasant enough in demeanor. The ceviche special tasted like it was made last night. The salmon special was a bit overdone for me but not dry and I'm not that picky so I it was ok. I didn't like the seasonal vegetable which was a spicy corn which was not fresh corn (tasted frozen) and overpowered the rest of the items on my plate. I would have like the option to substitute for the broccoli they always have on the menu. We declined dessert but asked for coffee. By this time it was noon. Coffee is my thing and I know how long ago it was brewed by color. The coffee was a couple of hours old. I drank it nonetheless and asked for a second cup when the waitress brought the check hoping for a fresh pot. She ignored our request because she came back for payment and I asked again. She grudgingly brought us a second but alas, it too was from the old pot. There is no excuse for old coffee at the beginning of service. Food was just ok. Service needs help. If you enjoy Carrabba's and Bonefish Grill -- two chains I actually seek out -- sign up for their shared rewards program. Points and bonuses accrue relatively quickly. We headed out to redeem the $15 I accumulated, which was about to expire. The prix fixe menu for two -- sometimes you have to ask for it -- always has something that interests me. Disappointed it didn't include trout (which they rotate in) I asked about the "Mahi Mahi Oscar" listed. With asparagus, a bit of crab meat and a light lemon sauce, it was a dish I'd get again. The fish is grilled -- another plus! -- but a tad too well done (which cost Bonefish a star!) I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes. I'm sick of fries. So I chose two vegetables as sides: spinach (sauteed with garlic) and broccoli, which to their credit was cooked just right. Not mushy! The special menu includes shared dessert, a slice of coconut pie with rum sauce. Very good. Very coconutty. With crusty bread, a good house salad and a nice Pinot Noir, dinner was A+. read more

First time ever, and we came during the rain-storm. Well, we were greeted by the staff, and the server was very pleasant. My wife ordered the shrimp and scallop scampi, and I played it safe with the fish and chips. Wasn't a big fan of the coleslaw, but the dishes were hot and tasty. Our appetizer was the seafood dip. It came straight out of the oven and was tasty. The restrooms were very clean. There must be something at Bonefish Grill, because halfway through our meal, the entire place was packed. They changed their menu about a week ago, and our waiter said that lots of people were unhappy (including us and him). They have simplified the menu, which I am sure would make Gordon Ramsey happy. Instead of having house salad listed at $5.50 and $18.50 if you add shrimp, it is listed with shrimp for $19.50. I told the waiter I was going to start with the salad but didn't want to do shrimp. "Oh, you can still get a plain salad (it's just not on the menu)." There used to be a listing of 6 kinds of seafood plus chicken and pork that you could have grilled, coming with a selection of sauces and two sides of your choice, but now everything has prepacked preparation and sides. (There is a line in small print saying that proteins can be grilled and you have a "choice of signature sauce," not listed of course.) Sides? They only list what used to be called premium sides. I guess if you ask whether they come with anything you will be told your options. But you have to know to ask for what is not on the menu. The parmesan crusted trout was very good, but it came with limp broccoli and glutinous jasmine rice. There was no sending it back as we were running out to a movie afterwards. A five star review for a chain restaurant is very rare coming from me. Bonefish Grill has earned it. My sister chose it for her birthday dinner, so I have to give her the credit for getting me to try a restaurant I wouldn't normally try. I arrived late so the appetizers were already on the table. My nephew immediately told me I had to try the bang bang shrimp. He didn't steer me wrong. They were so delicious that I stuck with the shrimp theme and ordered the fried shrimp for my entrée. The perfectly fried and succulent shrimp I was served with cocktail sauce put a huge smile on my face. I love fried shrimp and unfortunately in 2022 it's not easy to find great fried shrimp in Philly as the seafood spots with the best shrimp have closed. I even ate all the fries that came with it. I ordered a Moscow mule for my drink. I was served my new favorite Moscow mule. It was a perfectly balanced cocktail. The service was top notch, as our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone in my family was happy with their meal. A few weeks after this visit I was elated to find that there was a Bonefish Grill across from my hotel on my trip to Orlando. I recreated this 5 star meal. Great shrimp, cocktails, and service must be the standard at every Bonefish Grill. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

We came in just before dinner rush to enjoy a simple apps and drinks time out and it was fantastic. The bar area tables are first come first serve and half were empty when we came in. Service was pleasant and consistent and the full menu is available. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and tuna apps- we saw at least 4 other bang bangs being ordered around us as well. It's always filling and delicious in a decadent time out way. The tuna was a refreshing counterpoint and genuinely delicious as well. We also ordered the corn and crab soup and it was a great blend of the two- it wasn't just one with a bit of the other. Cozy and comforting and worth coming back for. Drinks were mixed- I had the pumpkin espresso which didn't have a sugar rim and didn't seem too different from the normal espresso but was still a luscious drink. I finished with rum punch and it was regrettably just like cough syrup. I love the sweet stuff but that was cloying even after watering it down a bit. I can't forget also how great their bread and dipping oil is- the perfect amount of crush and saltiness added in. We managed a full dinner with fun spontaneous choices and it's nice to know we can enjoy a quick night out without the full dinner process. read more

This is an elegant high end seafood restaurant, with a very classy ambiance, including white table cloths, candles, as well as lovely artwork. Upon being seated, we were served sliced bread with olive oil and pesto, which was full of bold basil flavor. The combination of the oil and fresh pesto was oh so irresistibly yummy. I had a hard time choosing between gnocchi with lobster and shrimp in a lobster sherry sauce and crab crusted tilapia with 2 sides. I finally ordered the pasta dish, which was delightful and satisfying. The gnocchi was cooked al dente with the perfect chewy consistency. There was plenty of deliciously meaty and tender lobster, as well as juicy, succulent shrimp. There were also peas, mushroom, and tomatoes throughout the pasta, which were a nice addition. The sauce was wonderfully creamy, rich, and well seasoned. For dessert, there was a special for Pumpkin Spice Lava Cake, consisting of cream cheese molten center, served warm and topped with house-made whipped cream. Since I am a huge fan of all things pumpkin spice, I just had to try it! However, I was a little disappointed. The pumpkin cake had warm hints cinnamon and nutmeg and the whipped cream was so velvety smooth. I just found the cake to be on the dense side and quite dry. Also, I would have liked more pumpkin taste. The cream cheese filling was sweet and thick. The service was top notch. Our waitress was friendly and on top of it. We have been to three Bonefish Grill restaurants many times over the years, even though none is close to us. (We live in West Mount Airy, Philly.) We flat-out love Bonefish Grill! The food and service are always great, and the prices are way too low for what you get. The prices for great fresh seafood dishes are way higher almost everywhere else. The only thing wrong with Bonefish Grill is that it is not 15 minutes from our house. On Sunday night we went to the one in Newtown Square.I don't know how they do it. The portions are so generous. Bang Bang shrimp is sensational! Some other restaurants have copied it but don't do it as well. Oh yes, cocktails and wines are also great and very reasonably priced. But the main thing I want to say is that our server, Corinna, should get the gold medal for servers. Big, beautiful smile; charming personality, super-efficient. We all fell in love with her and wanted to adopt her, but unfortunately we discovered that she already has a family. But if she ever decides to leave, we have an empty apartment for her. I've been here twice, both for brunch. First time I had the burger with a fried egg. It was delicious! Yesterday I had the Eggs Benedict and they were terrible. My muffin was burnt on the outside, but not crisp on the inside, and my eggs were so overcooked no yolk ran out of them. Very disappointing given that there were hardly any patrons. I do have to say I was highly disappointed with my meal. The shrimp were super small and the scallops were so tiny that you couldn't even see them. I added mac and cheese which is a $4.50 up charge. We took the table and I saw there was a booth with two women in it not far away that would have been for a larger party. The family to the left of us was also only a party of three and in a booth. The family after them was also only three people. My mother had made a reservation earlier before we arrived so plenty of time. My wife and I were sitting at the bar and had just ordered drinks. A bartender was straightening bar chairs next to us and proceeded to slam a chair right into a spot and made a load noise. She was looking at us in an angry way while doing this so I asked her what was her problem . Without answering me, she just walked away into the kitchen area. A few minutes later, a kitchen manager came out without identifying himself and told me that we have to leave the restaurant. I asked him why and he said that bartender told him that I used the f word when I addressed her with the question about the slammed barstool . I told him she was lying but the manager proceeded to threaten to call th police if we didn't leave. He said his obligation was to believe the bartender over us. He never tried to ask if any one else heard me say something like that. This was discourteous to us and as twice a month customers, we will never go to a Bonefish Restaurant again. read more

I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant on invitation from a friend who won a gift certificate for a Chef Table Experience in an auction. The experience included drink pairings with appetizers, entrees and dessert. We did not order anything. We were given a very broad sample of all the offerings from their menu. For appetizers we had the popular bang bang shrimp, coconut shrimp and crusted seared tuna with a Asian sauce. I and the rest of the table enjoyed all three. I especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp that were fried perfectly and plump and juicy. Everyone at the table seemed to agree that the Hawaiian martini served with the apps was amazing...I had two. Our next course was all seafood. A plate of three sampling's. Shrimp and scallop in a sweet bbq sauce served over green beans, grilled salmon with a mango salsa and a plump thick white fish grilled with a lemon butter served over Yukon potato's. All were delicious. I finished it all except a few potato's. Next we were served a meat course that consisted of filet over crispy Brussels spouts, chicken topped with goat cheese and spinach and a fresh water lobster tail. Although I took most of this course to go I did get a chance to sample a small bite of everything. All were delicious but leading with the all fish course spoiled me and I was a little full by then. Lastly was dessert. There was a sweet and tangy key lime pie with a pecan crust. It was delicious. A rich dark chocolate brownie topped with ice cream and raspberry sauce and coconut custard pie. Of all three I loved the key lime pie. It was sweet and tangy all at the same time. All of our courses were paired with a different red and white wine and the dessert course was served with a coffee martini. All amazing. The servers here were so nice and the manager Tim? was very nice and informative. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the food. We went for dinner on a Tuesday, and unbeknownst to us, they have a 3 course meal deal on Tuesdays, so needless to say, I was ready to pop by the time we left. We started with bang bang shrimp which were as good as I've heard. We each had ceasar salad which was good, but very garlicky. I'm into garlic, so that was cool, but if you're not, you might not love it. For dinner I had salmon with mango salsa. The salmon was cooked great and was blackened/crispy on the outside. The mango salsa was delicious. I also had green beans and garlic mashed potatoes which were both good. My boyfriend had the tuna steak with lemon butter and really enjoyed the cheesy potatoes au gratin. For dessert, I chose the coconut pie with rum sauce which was absolutely amazing!! I would come back just for this dessert!! I wasn't even hungry anymore but had to eat the whole thing. I also had a cup of coffee, and my only complaint was that the coffee was not even close to hot. After a free bang bang shrimp coupon, the 3-course deal (and a glass of wine), our total came out to $52-- can't beat that!! Okay...nothing annoys me more than when staff send out food that should not be served. This is the SECOND time that I have ordered from this location and recieved brown lettuce in a salad. I get it..your attempting to cut costs while trying to the preserve quality of presentation ( I assume this bc why else are you mixing spring mix and iceberg lettuce). But I know good and well that everyone in your kitchen is trained and knows better. It aggravates me more because I don't consume carbohydrates...so I'm one of the few people who care about the quality of my side salad (I picked out the edible ingredients).
