We have a Bonefish Grill at home, but wanted to give this place a shot. First and foremost, the service sucks. Hostess was very rude and so was everyone one else in this establishment. At first the waitress was a tad rude also, but then she got better throughout the night. We had the following: - Cold Snap Fresh Ceviche - served in a frozen glass made entirely of ice, chilled bay scallops, shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, avocado, cucumber, jalapeño, citrus, cilantro + warm tortilla chips - this sucked because of the glass made of ice, it melted and the water went everywhere.. and it really watered down the ceviche - Bang Bang Shrimp - crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce - this is good as always, the crispy shrimp with the delicious creamy sauce - Mussels Josephine - Prince Edward Island Mussels sautéed with tomatoes, red onion, garlic, basil + lemon wine sauce - these mussels were only decent, if that.. - Chilean Sea Bass - this was actually very delicious and tasty - Hawaiian Ribeye - they failed on this one, the steak was way too sweet, and the cooking style of the steak was very unappetizing Nevertheless, note to self, when in Destin, do not dine here. read more

I'm being generous with the 2 stars...I don't even know where to begin here. This was my first visit back after about 6 years as my experiences back then weren't special. The hostess was friendly and we were brought to a table when we walked in, our reservation time. Great start but epic fail on all else, except the starter loaf of bread. It was warm and the pesto that came with it was tasty just not enough of it. I am torn between 3 and 4 stars. I want to give four because I felt like the front of house staff as doing their best to provide a nice experience. However, the food coming out of the kitchen at this location was super-meh. Therefore, I feel like giving four would give other Yelpers a mis-conception of what to expect here, and that's not really fair to the public. I like the concept of Bonefish, and the company that owns this business, in general, but this seems to be their weakest theme restaurant. My two kids and I ate there tonight on a surprise decision to get dinner! I love, love this Bonefish! The service was absolutely great and the food was delicious! We started with the Bang Bang shrimp and they were awesome! This was the first time we've ever tasted them and we are hooked! The sauce is just too good! My Lilly chicken was perfect!! The chicken had the right temperature and it was super tender! The side veggies were the right consistency and crunchy! The Au Gratin was creamy and very tasty! My kids had the Caesar chicken salad and absolutely loved it! We also got some dessert to take home and the key lime pie is out of this world! My kids are still munching on the brownies! I am so glad we stopped there to eat! This Bonefish was a great experience to eat at! We will come back and try some other dishes on the menu!! Second chance I ate here long ago with disappointing results which lead to me not visiting here for a few years. However, with this visit I was pleasantly pleased. So here is my breakdown; * Service - 5 She was knowledgeable and attentive, friendly * Artsea martini - 1 It was bitter. The flavor was an odd mix not even fruity. It was listed as a special drink with its own # and artistic editable decoration. It was a editable printed flat paper design that floated on top. I don't know but that was not editable art $9.50 * Wagyu beef and ginger potstickers - 3.5 This was dressed beautifully with a color packed slaw. The taste was there as well but it was cold and soaked in what I guess was a soy rendered sauce. It was hard to tell a "taste" difference from wagyu or normal beef. So if was real Wagyu, sort of waste. Overall, it was good and was eaten. * House salad - 4 The salad was presented well and with abundance of seed/nut mix. The only drawback I had with this salad was iceberg lettuce It is a horrible salad lettuce with no nutritional value. I find it surprising that higher end restaurants still using it. $4/entree * Grilled Cobia - 4.5 I was shocked that this dish was presented rather blandly compared to the other dishes. It was fish, broccoli and a small sauce ramekin, that's it. As the server mentioned, the fish was light in flavor and suggested the lemon butter sauce to go with it. The fish was perfectly cooked; moist and flaky. You could taste the wood on the grill. The lemon butter sauce brought it all to the forefront. The side of broccoli was nothing really to say about; no sauce or seasoning I could tell of. I danced between a 3 or 4 on this review. It is a mid-high end place for its pricing. I try to respectively compare my rating to such. It is a beautiful place. But, I felt "click baited" by the drink special which I feel is dragging the review down. In the years that we've gone to Bonefish while on vacation in Destin, I don't think we've ever ordered entrees. Their apps are just that good! If you're a small party, slide past the hostess and mosey on up to the longer tables by the bar. You'll get faster service and less judging looks when you order. You'll get a warm, sliced loaf of bread with delicious pesto-olive oil for dipping. Consume. Our go-to app is the mussels. It's a large portion of shelled critters with tomatoes and onions... and the sauce. OH MY THAT SAUCE. Use that same delish bread from earlier to sop it up and transport to mouth. Repeat. They'll even bring you more bread if you ask nicely. Seafood is definitely the way to go here. The ceviche with scallops and shrimp is fresh and citrusy. The bang bang shrimp and ahi tuna are also winners. Honestly, I don't think I've ever disliked anything I've tried. As for dessert, I remember trying a special PB&J bread pudding that was absolutely divine. More recently, we had the pumpkin creme brulee which was a decadent, autumnal take on the classic dish. We were visiting Destin,Fl and decided to go to one of our favorite places for dinner on a Friday; have one near us in Illinois. We've tried different fish/dishes and haven't had a bad meal. The favorite appetizer being "Bam Bam shrimp" enjoyed the "new" Brussels Sprouts side, Dining for2, drinks, wine. Our home location is BUSY; need reservations especially on weekends. Now, this is a prime time on a Friday and without reservation, we expected to wait. So, we're told 20 min. I asked about the empty bar tables and was told "no server, only at the bar or wait. After 20 min. we're seated only to realize the dining room area is pretty empty. That for sure didn't make sense; why the wait? There were at least 4 maybe 5 servers and 4 more by the front, just not organized and SLOW. One server takes your order, someone else brings water, someone else drink and so on. She just took the order and brought the check; and No One to take empty dishes; not just our table. Staff needs training and organizing and communication. It was a nice evening for seating outside. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing and the meal for 2 was delicious. Variety on the menu-pretty good So, as a patron of Bonefish Grill I would like to know: Why no people? Why are they making you wait? Are they new to the job? Do they want that location to fail with all the competition? Where is the manager? Had dinner here yesterday. Didn't realize it's a chain restaurant even though I remember seeing one near Orlando while on a business trip. Had the Bang Bang Shrimp for starters and it was good. For a main I had the Imperial Tilapia and it was very good. The fish was cooked perfectly and the shrimp, scallop, and crab meat topped off with a lemon caper butter sauce was great. They have a full bar so I had a cocktail followed by wine to go with the meal. Service was great too... Overall it was really good and fulfilling. read more

I just spent a week in Destin and ordered from Bonefish twice because I love their food. Our first night I ordered to go because of the covid spread spiking in Florida. I specifically asked if the fish and chips came with malt vinegar when ordered as to go because if not, I was going to swing by the store and get it. The woman taking my order assured me it did, so when I picked up the order I didn't even check. No malt vinegar. The food was still delicious, but I was disappointed since I had specifically asked. The last night my family decided to order there again - this time we chose delivery since we were packing everything up. The website had us use DoorDash for the delivery services. I tried to order rice as a side since i know bonefish offers it but DoorDash didn't have it listed. I went ahead and ordered and called the restaurant to see if the rice could be swapped for the veggies I picked. When I called the first woman I spoke to was not very helpful and had a bit of an attitude. After putting me on a 5 minute wait another woman answered. She was very nice and knowledgable and explained that some sides just aren't options on DoorDash. Having worked in several restaurants before (including a sister restaurant of Bonefish) I'm not sure why a swap couldn't be requested since i had just placed the order and nothing had been cooked yet, but I digress. We had also ordered fish and chips (yes again) so I told her about the malt vinegar missing last time - she assured me that she would personally make sure they had them. My husband and I were so disappointed in the food tonight. I was served two salads both with rotting pieces of spring mix. The waitress tried to explain what spring mix looks like and I told her I eat it almost everyday. The pieces I pulled out of both salads were black and slimy. My main course was Lilly's chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was good but the green beans were terribly undercooked. I spoke with the manager once and then he avoided us the rest of the meal. The waitress also told me that the green beans are supposed to be crispy. I explained that they werent cooked. Our family has been to the Bonefish in Destin many times in the past, and this used to be a restaurant we looked forward to dining in. Sadly, this is no longer the case. We will NOT be returning to this Bonefish. We came for dinner on Saturday around 3:30, so the place was virtually empty. The host and our waiter were polite and welcoming, and we were seated at a booth right away. For one, the seat was torn and ragged with holes in it - which just creates a disappointing atmosphere to begin with. Then the waiter brought us a stack of plates for our appetizers and as we each took one from the stack, we noticed they were all smudged and greasy and one of them had an ENTIRE FILET OF FISH SKIN on it, while another had a used sugar packet on it. We told the waiter and he apologized and brought back new plates, and the manager also apologized and even paid for our appetizers, but it pretty much ruined our appetites after seeing that. Even the new plates they brought looked questionable to me. Besides the lack of dishwashing going on there, the food was (and has been, the last couple times we've been there) mediocre at best. The bang bang shrimp (which is usually a delicious mainstay of Bonefish) was just okay, the bread they brought tasted a little stale, and the stone crab claws were just awful. They had no flavor, and our hands actually smelled like rotten fish hours after eating, despite washing them multiple times. The main entrees were just as disappointing. Again, the manager was super nice and seemed really sincere in his apology, but it's just not worth it to spend a couple hundred bucks on a dinner that makes you feel queasy on the way home. This experience could easily have been a five if we had not had a bumpy start. The service and food was exceptional, portions fair, and prices in line with any other nicer restaurant. With that said, we came without reservations and waited about 45 minutes to be seated. This should not have been a problem, as most times the door person gets people seated as soon as possible. This time however, the lady at the door was more concerned with her plate of appetizers (I assume she bought them, because she did not offer them to my wife and kids who were waiting, but shared them with her friends).The same friends who were offered snacks also loudly pronounced that they did not have reservations, and were seated immediately as we sat patiently waiting (for 35 minutes at this time) 8 feet away. There was also the couple who just came in and seated themselves right in front of us. The hostess did not say anything to them, as they laughed about not needing a reservation. When I asked the host how much longer our wait would be, she said "oh I can seat you". When I mentioned that it would have been nice to know that when the other two groups were seated, she snapped back rudely that "They had reservations". Again, I heard both of these parties state the contrary. To the nice manager who came by, thanks for the fine food and service, but I suggest you speak (or at least pay attention) to your hostess, her actions alone have soured me on your establishment, as there are plenty of places who do not need to be rude and condescending to earn business. Your front end presence should be friendly and eager to seat customers, not chowing down and ignoring their wait list. To the tourists, skip this place.... too expensive to be treated rudely, and our area has plenty of other restaurants eager to please. read more

The potatoes au gratin that came with it was nasty as well. I also had a side of steamed broccoli which was the only thing on my dish that I liked! It's hard to mess with broccoli. I barely ate my food and told my waitress I didn't like it and she kind of just ignored me and brought my check. She didn't offer to replace my meal or get me a discount. We entered the restaurant, and the wait was supposed to be approximately 20-30 minutes. While waiting we noticed that numerous tables were either open, and/or not cleaned off. A group with the same number of people behind us in the wait requested that they clean the community table, and surprise surprise, they got seated before us. After the extended wait time, we were finally seated in a booth with a very sweet server. She brought out the bread and drinks in a timely manor. However, while walking out of the unclean restroom, a family member of mine witnessed three out of the four servers conversing with one of the servers had our order in hand, rather than serving tables as they should be. Our so called "sweet server" soon came with our appetizer after someone saw the group off task rather than working.
