Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and the highlight of our dining experience. Unfortunately, the food did not quite match the level of service. I originally ordered the popcorn shrimp, but the batter was separating from most of the pieces. There was quite a bit of loose breading and not much shrimp in comparison. On the combo dinner, they had run out of popcorn shrimp, so my meal was replaced with fried Gulf shrimp, which had a similar issue. The shrimp were lightly coated, almost appearing a bit bare, although the seasoning itself was good. The onion rings tasted similar to frozen, pre-made onion rings. At nearly $10, I had expected something more fresh and hand-cut. The marmalade dipping sauce also had a flavor that did not quite work for me and left an aftertaste that made it harder to enjoy. I understand that ordering Alfredo at a seafood restaurant is not always the safest choice, but it was still a bit disappointing. The pasta was overcooked, the dish was lightly seasoned, and there was very little Alfredo sauce, so it came across as somewhat dry. The catfish consisted of very small pieces that were more like soft, mild nuggets than traditional catfish fillets. The two hush puppies were dense and not especially flavorful, though I will say the single corn nugget included with the meal was quite good. For dessert, I ordered the key lime pie. Unfortunately, the flavor was not quite what I expected, as something in it seemed to overpower the key lime. It had a strong vanilla note that gave it a slightly alcohol-like aftertaste rather than the bright, tangy flavor I was hoping for. Overall, while the service was excellent, the food quality was inconsistent, especially considering the prices. I hope the kitchen can make a few adjustments, because the staff clearly provides a level of service that deserves food to match. read more

We stopped by to grab a quick bite after going to the dolphin show. The attendants were very nice and although we didn't dine in, they asked if we wanted something to drink while we waited. I ordered the firecracker fries. Soo delicious! Flavor was great and the fries were cooked just right. The dipping sauce was tasty as well. I love the location at Pensacola and am a regular customer and occasionally stop by the gulf shores location as well. This was my first time at the Destin location and it was not good. I got my usual the ford catfish basket and the fish tasted off. Extremely fishy like it was old. The server was very nice and polite and said he'd remake it and the next batch wasn't much better. This place was horrible my cousin found a piece of hair in his cheeseburger, my other cousin had his cheeseburger patty burnt and hard and the bun was also hard, and the fish was just nasty.But the service was good, we had our server named Kylie and she was really nice, sweet, positive, and really set the mood! Finding food during shoulder season can sometimes present problems. In this case, the Shrimp Basket resolved our meal query. Our server, Bri, was a delight. She gave us sufficient time to make our choice, answered our questions about the menu choices, gave refills and was a terrific server, an asset to the company. I ordered the shrimp and grits and SO had the seafood platter. For those who like Coke Zero, it is available. S&G is accompanied by what they call a BBQ mayo. I wasn't sure about this so it was brought out on the side. While I was a bit skeptical, it really did add a bit of spice and extra flavor. It did not resemble anything like a BBQ sauce or condiment. SOs platter was so large he had problems finishing his meal. Yes, a nice place to enjoy lunch. Once people arrive in season, I can see their parking lot being quite full. You can eat on the patio or dine in. I found staff to be more than pleasant. Food was good and more than sufficient. Being in town for a short time we may get back for another meal. We came here on a recommendation but would not go back. We waited over an hour to get 4 meals. The steamer was broken, so no steamed food could be ordered. The bartender was "busy" and the customer was told it would be an hour wait for their drink. The waitress then offered to make the drink but needed the customer to tell her how to make a margarita. When the sweet potato fries were served cold, the waitress's response was "I'll put in a complaint" with no offer of getting hot fries or a discount on the bill. Her comment was that she would get in trouble for asking so no discount could be offered. When asked if we could speak with the manager, we were told that they were in the back and not available. We were asked to go into the kitchen to show the code to redeem the coupon for our free appetizer. The family behind us walked out after the waitress spilled a drink on the child at the table. Was not a fan! After we waited around 45 mins we just assumed they weren't going to bring them so we just waited for our main entrees. But to our surprise our fries came out. 45 minutes later!! I will say, they were good, but definitely not worth the wait or frustration. About 15 mins later our orders came out. We ordered the gumbo and it was good but luke warm. We ordered the oysters and they were good. We also got the stuffed crab and it was not good. I have never seen big chunks of red bell pepper in stuffed crab but here we are. I also had substituted the coleslaw for okra but never got them. It wasn't worth the hassle or time to wait for our waiter to come back and to have them make me some. We saw our server maybe 3 times come to our table so getting his attention was not easy. After a long day on the beach and in the sun the last thing you want is mediocre food and very slow service. Never a reassurance that our food was coming out soon. This will definitely be our last time here sadly since when we come to Destin we love finding new places to come back to. read more

We visited the destin location on 5-19-26. We were in the restaurant for over 2 1/2 hours. The waitress took our order and then we didnt see her again for over an hour. I had to ask another waitress to check on our food. We had 6 people in our party but only half of our orders come out together. The others in our party had to wait another 15 minutes for their food. My husband ordered the Captains platter, which was missing the osters, hushpuppies, the corn fritter, and the coleslaw. Most of the other orders were missing items or wrong as well. The appetizers were served with the meal, not before. I spoke to the manager and she told me that there was nothing she could do. It wasn't until I said I was going to leave a bad review that she apologized and she could give me a 20% discount. Which we had to wait another 15 minutes. I had seen this place on a previous trip and really wanted to go. I thought it was like seafood fast food. Spoiler, it is not. It is a sit down restaurant though it is casual. This was my least favorite place we ate on our Destin trip. The menu was okay and we had plenty of options. We were starving upon arrival so immediately ordered the seafood queso. It was okay. Not amazing. Barely any seafood in it. Daughter and I shared the boil for 2. I asked if it was spicy and the server said no. I didn't realize that this meant they wouldn't season it at all. No old bay, no nothing. Disappointing. There is a lot of food here though. We both ate it AND shared it with the table and still had leftovers to take home. It was okay but for the money I'd like it to have flavor. We ordered hush puppies and those were really good. I'd recommend. Hubby had a few drinks here and thought they were good not great. Our waitress was truly wonderful. Her and has a "Q" in it- I'm having a hard time remembering... maybe Mystique? She made great menu recommendations, checked in often, and genuinely tried to make our experience enjoyable. I typically drink water so fast. She continued to refill immediately, multiple times, and even asked if I'd like for her to leave a pitcher of water. Of course I did. But I can not tell you how many restaurants I have been to, that I end up waiting so long for more water. Or my husband gives me his water. Or my husband ends up going to the bar to refill my water. Stopped by tonight for a take out order for the hubby. While I had leftovers from last night's dinner that would be sufficient, the call of the Gumbo was enticing. Nothing better than a good bowl of gumbo. Sadly, the Shrimp Basket's version is not good. A thin, runny broth. One tiny piece of sausage. No other discernable pieces of ingredients. Just bland, runny sauce. My homemade chicken soup has more body. And this northern grown home cook can (and has) produced gumbo that would put tonight's version to shame. OTOH, hubby says that the shrimp was good. Nothing special, but far better than my gumbo.
