The server only had three tables at the time but was clearly overwhelmed. He was a nice kid, but it took 30 minutes for us to get our first two drinks from the bar. My husband later requested a second drink and that took a long time as well. Food came out in timely manner as kitchen support was bringing things out, but poor service can really detract from an evening out. (We could hear the table next to us grumbling about waiting for their drinks as well.) I had hoped a manager would stop by the table to check on us but no one ever did. read more

I went to Bonefish Grill after work with friends. We went on Tuesday because we knew they had dinner specials. We started at the bar with drinks and appetizers on the happy hour menu. I got the blueberry lemon drop martini. I liked this drink. It was very tasty. We also got the cure, which is French fries topped with cheese and shrimp. It was delicious. We moved to the dinner seating area and picked items from the three course Tuesday special menu. I decided to try another cocktail. This time I got the Tropical Tiki Martini. I thought this drink was a little sweet, but it was nice. I decided to get a Caesar salad, lobster bisque, salmon with lobster Mac n cheese, cheese scalloped potatoes, and cheesecake for desert. The lobster bisque was ok but I've tasted much better. The salmon was a little over cooked and the lobster Mac n cheese was just ok. The scalloped potatoes were good and the cheesecake was good too. I had the rainbow trout which was heavily seasoned which may appeal to some, but was not dimensional enough to me. Portion size is modest. The mashed potatoes were tasty. Calamari was oversalted. I liked the bang bang shrimp best. My father had the hamburger. He liked it but he doesn't eat out often so it was a treat for him. My mother had the mixed grill with mahi and shrimp. She liked it okay but wasn't overly impressed. If you're in a pinch for a mainstream seafood restaurant that doesn't break the bank, I think this a fine option. I visited this location for a Yelp Elite Event and was expecting to have a couple of items to sample as passed appetizers in a dining room with casual conversation; what I didn't expect was a 4 course meal with champagne and wine---WHAT! (Ohh to be a Yelp Elite). We had the bang-bang shrimp, a salad with a house dressing that was amazing and Salmon with Scallops and broccoli/mashed potatoes for our main course. Yall, as always, it was amazing. Top that off with A1 service, cheescake for dessert and being given gift cards to return for a future visit--yeah, I love this place. With it being Valentine's Day, we were also excited to get our grub on with some good food. What a severe disappointment. By the time the food arrived, it was cold and had to be microwaved. The portions were laughable. My side of fries was the equivalent of what you'd find at the bottom of a fast-food bag and they were overly salty. The side of "seasonal vegetables" was unseasoned broccoli. 1 vegetable, not many like it leads you to believe. The only thing my meal had going for it was the steak, but again, that was cold since it would've been tricky to reheat it without making it chewy. It's also questionable whether or not I got the correct oz of steak since mine was significantly smaller than my husband's who ordered the same size. My husband's food seemed to be "okay," but he's been on the toilet since dinner ended so something's obviously amiss. His food was also cold and not well-portioned at all. You know if you really like a place if you are willing to drive two cities over to go for dinner. Yes folks, it's true, I left the city lines of Richardson to head north of Plano to Allen, TX just for dinner at Bonefish Grill. Was it worth it? Absolutely. This is a classy joint, so shed the shorts for the day. The wait staff are professionals with the menu memorized, and will offer personal suggestions if asked. Food and drinks are delivered to the table in a timely manner. There is no milling around eating endless bread and oil waiting (but it's available if you want to snack) for the next course, nor do all of the courses arrive at the same time. Our water glasses were always filled and the service was never obtrusive. By the way, be sure to try one of their craft cocktails. I went for the watermelon martini. It was cool, sweet, and refreshing. I especially enjoyed the frozen chunk of watermelon garnish swimming on the edge of my glass. My husband "doesn't drink", except when I order something like this, and well, it was quick race to the bottom of the barrel. Everyone raves about the Bang Bang Shrimp. FYI, I don't eat shrimp...EVER, but I suggested my husband order it because you'll never see these underwater cockroaches prepared in our home. It was supposed to be a special treat for him, but somehow I ended up "sampling" more of these lightly fried crustaceans than he did. I moved to the area 2 years ago and just now experienced Bonefish! I can't believe it took us so long. The atmosphere was upscale yet casual, service by Eddie was great. The imperial dip was rich, hot, and cheesy....so good!! I enjoyed the swordfish special and my husband had the butterfish special catch of the day. Both dishes were served hot and the portions were a good size. The only negative is the Mac and cheese needed a touch more salt. We also split a Caesar salad and it was brought out split from the kitchen which was nice. The key lime cake was awesomely not too sweet with an essence of key lime. If I could give 100 stars I would! This past weekend I decided to dine in on a Saturday night. The establishment was pretty busy but there wasn't much of a wait time. I decided to seat myself in the bar area. I had the best Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer... I had the pleasure of having two servers take care of me. I had an issue with my salad but the MOD Bret came over and took no time having me another one remade. We went there for lunch. This was the third time we had dined here. It was a special occasion which we stated in the reservation, but they did not even mention it when we were there. A greeting and acknowledgment would have been nice. We were seated promptly. The booth we had was quite uncomfortable. The seat tilted forward, there wasn't much belly space (and I'm not a big person). The seat back was short and stiff. Our server was nice but seemed extremely inexperienced. You could tell he was reciting from a memorized script. Quite an unnatural delivery. The food arrived promptly. Our crab cakes were delicious as we remembered. I ordered the ahi poke bowl. It was delicious but rather spartan of things. Basically consisted of rice, cucumber, few lettuce pieces, tuna cubes, and some sauce drizzled on it. No sesame, seaweed, nothing like you'd get from a poke place. While tasty, it was quite underwhelming for the price. Our party also ordered corn chowder and steak & lobster. Both were delicious but we had to remind them of the potatoes that we ordered with the meal. Lastly, they used to offer a gluten free dinner roll in lieu of the bread for those who can't eat gluten. A gem in Allen for food and service since 2016 when Bonefish Grill was S.R.O. for a few years. Performance that was gold and silver is showing tarnishes the last couple of tough years; paradoxically, the competition has increased within this price-point. The dining room and especially the bar area are both expertly served and enjoyed by many area regulars, some are brand investors caring about the business success for all involved. Food and service remain my favorite at their price-point and aren't this review's topic. Guests aren't coming here to surf the internet but do desire wi-fi along with their Surf and Turf. In late 2023, this Bonefish Grill added wi-fi for guests at probably big operating expense. Heard too often is that their open wi-fi "works and is available"; however, guests regularly report an I.T. access problem using either iPhones or Androids. This Bonefish Grill is located at the high-traffic intersection of Stacy Rd. and N. Central Expy, adjacent to shopping centers in Fairview and Allen, plus an outlet mall. Here, the cell phone density may often consume the overtaxed local cell tower's bandwidth or capacity. Businesses utilizing their private dining room for client or sales meetings - remember to bring pens and paper. Well liked is the bar area containing two modest-sized monitors which is fine since this isn't a sports bar. What's less than acceptable is intermittent satellite reception due to low signal-strength. A cost-free improvement and satellite vendor's remedy might be a dish alignment, or possibly an equipment refresh. Last year's hail-storm beat-up satellite equipment too, maybe a roofer leaned on it some other year. Take care of this, it's been neglected for more than one or two years. Providing guest wi-fi and satellite programming isn't satisfactory if it's nonfunctional or interruptive of the dining experience. Restaurants can provide good food, drinks, service AND wi-fi or TV which were two commonly available side-dishes long before 2024. Also notable, after years of operation, the bathrooms could be painted and refreshed but definitely need professional weekly deep cleaning. Opportunity is abundant; however, managers can't simply remain cavalier to guest satisfaction. Milking the same cash cow daily isn't competitive in this area's restaurant market. read more

My husband had the Parmesan crusted Trout. Perfectly cooked, with a wonderful flavor. I know because I got to eat his leftovers. The side salad is well worth the up charge. Oh goodness this place is the PRIME reason you should give a place a second try. After my initial visit I found myself back at Bonefish for a special event (March 2017) and was blown out of the water by the food, ingredients used, and drink offerings. I swear it was like a brand new restaurant! I've since been back three times and it's my go-to place when I have a night to myself (no kiddos) or date night with my hubby. The bartender is no joke, he/she is an artist and the mixed drinks are top notch. I usually stick to wine, but Bonefish made me change my tune and I cannot get enough of their seasonal martinis. I dream about their BangBang Shrimp and Doughnuts. AND this place is not just a Seafood joint, their Wagyu Beef sliders are no joke. Bonefish Grill is an experience you must take part in, but don't let the name fool you, it's not just the seafood. I really don't know where to start my review since there is so much to say. I live in Allen and I can honestly say that Allen needed a place like this. I didn't realize Bonefish was here until today. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a clean feeling of casual elegance. You are made to feel welcome upon entering and seated in a great looking ambiance that takes you away from Allen. The service is incredible, which coincides with the food; it is equally awesome. The bar area is beautiful. I love the attitude of the bartenders, they are friendly and non-obtrusive, yet involved enough to keep you entertained. It is evident a restaurant takes quality and service seriously, you end up with not just a meal, but an experience. Bonefish is a great way to spoil yourself and enjoy a great meal with family and friend. The sliders were incredible. The Alaskan Cod sliders are a perfect blend and just enough to leave you wanting more. The Wagyu sliders are equally delicious. Who would think a Seafood restaurant would make a Beef Slider so awesome? The food at this point was hypnotizing and I was impressed to the point that it couldn't get any better. So I thought. A meal here wouldn't be a meal unless you order the crispy Au Gratin tots; these "taters" make you so happy you want to dance like a little kid with the only bowl of ice-cream in the room. I can't cover everything I tried here tonight, so I'm going to cover my favorites. The Georges Bank Sea Scallops were magical. I've never typically been a Scallop fan, but Bonefish has converted me and they will be on my plate next time I visit. The Muscles Josephine was equally divine and left me wanting more. Their seafood had me hearing the Ocean. The Salmon.... Oh my goodness, the Salmon... did I mention the Salmon? Served on a plate on top of a wooden platter, it was the best thing I touched with my fork. The Salmon was honestly an emotional experience. It was perfectly cooked and tasted like nothing I've had before. With a glazed honey mustard sauce that was just the right level of influence, it was cooked to perfection. Dare I say dessert? I had the doughnuts which were super yummy, but then the Fresh Strawberry Shortcake came out; I was captured and ready to ask for a box to bring the leftovers home.... Whoops, no leftovers, FINISHED IT, bought the t-shirt. Oh yeah, almost forgot, I had a blueberry Martini when I first arrived. I've never had a blueberry martini before, but it's now part of my routine. I would go so far as to say when I come back, it is my signature drink.... Well, after wine of course... must have wine always. I asked for mashed potatoes and instead of mashed potatoes they gave me dry rice, the steak looks nothing like the one in the picture, I asked for very well done which they didn't do either. My husband loved his food, I thought is was just okay, and only one of my daughters liked her food which was the Mac and cheese. My other daughter was not a fan of her fish and chips. Overall I bet my hubby will drag us back but it is not my first pick. The missed opportunities here are insane! The first time, I got takeout and ordered the Chilean sea-bass and bang bang shrimp which were both delicious. Last night, I went to dine in with family and we ordered the bang bang shrimp (half priced on Wednesday's), salmon with green beans and cheesy potato grits and the blackened fish tacos. Everything tasted amazing but my favorite was the salmon and the potatoes. Omg those potatoes were dreamy! The restaurant has a classy and romantic vibe to it. Yet, it's good for taking children too. Loved the glass fish artwork on the wall and the cool wine cellar display. Our server Austin was super nice and provided exceptional service!
