If you happen to walk into Rick's lounge that connects to the restaurant for the first time, don't expect anyone to greet you or guide you. No staff asked where we were going, what we were looking for, or offered any help. We had to walk back out to the front lobby just to be told that the restaurant entrance is actually through the lounge. Not a great first impression. Unfortunately the food completely ruined it. We ordered the steak and eggs and everything on the plate, the steak, hash browns, eggs, and even the tomato, was drowned in salt. It wasn't just salty. It tasted like heavy iodine table salt with a chemical aftertaste. Every bite made us want to gag. Whether it's dinner or that glorious Sunday brunch, we can taste the hard work their talented chefs and staff put in every bite. It's the kind of place that makes you feel fancy the moment you walk through the door. But this last visit .. we will not go back. I specifically noted on our reservation that we had a disabled guest and we needed accessible seating. You'd think that would be straightforward, right? Instead, we were escorted past the main dining room, through the bar, and deep into what I can only describe as the "banished-to-the-hotel" section obviously an overflow area. Not so great for our situation. Walk-ins without a reservation were seated closer than us lol It was way too far for our guest to enjoy the buffet. And really, arguing with staff during what should've been a relaxing celebration was not our idea of a peaceful Sunday. The accommodation shouldn't have been overlooked! To make matters worse, we were there for my 60th birthday AND our only Thanksgiving time with our kids. The complimentary birthday dessert was a giant plate with "Happy Birthday" scribbled in chocolate and a scoop of ice cream that tasted like Play-Doh. I wish I were exaggerating. I skipped eating dessert from the buffet because I believed it would be as special as it has been in the past. So disappointed! Celebrated a birthday here. I decided to try them out because the reviews seemed to be decent although not as high as I would have liked. I was expecting an upscale experience. The location is nice and since it was around the holidays the location was decorated and comfy. The service was good. The food was subpar and did not really meet the expectation. Considering the price the food should be a bit more generous on the plate. The portions were out of proportion of the price. The New York strip was ok but was not cooked medium it was undercooked. It needed to be cooked a little more because it was not cooked properly. I did mention it and they attempted to fix it. At this point it was overcooked and when I took the rest home to rewarm it was not enjoyable. The shaved bacon brussel sprout portion should have been more than 3 to 4 tablespoons. The baked potatoe was good. The two shrimp that come with the steak was the best part, perfectly cooked, plump, and fresh. This is the reason I gave it 3 stars. My family and I visited Rick's Chophouse for dinner, tonight. Both my adult children are amateur chefs and they were delighted with every dish served. My son had the ELK steak, which was cooked to perfection, enhancing its unique taste. Although Chicken Fried Steak was not on the dinner menu, they gracefully prepared these for my husband and I. It's our favorite! Our waitress was Sasha and she was wonderful. She described entry dishes elaborately , leaving us with all the delicious information needed to make our dinner selections. Salads were good. I ordered filet with crabmeat. Crabmeat was not jumbo lump which is what other steakhouses serve for the same price. My husband ordered his filet medium, same as me. However, his was beyond well done. We let them know before eating it and they just offered a free dessert. The free dessert (Key Lime pie) was the best part of the meal. Talk about an expensive but wonderful night out! The food was absolutely delicious and our steaks were cooked perfectly. The only critique I have on the steak is there wasn't a whole lot of flavor. I thought a place like this would salt crust their steaks to bring out the flavor but that was not the case. One star off for the flavor of the steak since this is what they are known for. Our waiter recommended some dishes, and we ordered the Elk and the Buffalo Tenderloin. The Elk was amazing--1000/10! It came with mushrooms and was unlike anything I've ever had. First of all, the service was amazing! Michael was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. We loved talking with him he had so much insight to share and truly made our experience memorable. We ordered the New York Strip, dry-aged for 45 days, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size was great, and the flavor was incredible. We also tried the filet, which was equally amazing and packed with flavor. We weren't huge fans of the mac and cheese. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out and lacked the flavor we were hoping for. The mashed potatoes, however, were very good. For drinks, we ordered three cocktails: the Citrus Serenade, the Auburn Ember Martini, and the Crimson Kiwi Mule. The Citrus Serenade was phenomenal perfect for citrus lovers. The Auburn Ember had a strong alcohol presence but the pumpkin butter in the aftertaste was amazing. Disappointed in my dinner experience last night. I was there for a seminar and was excited to finally try this place, but unfortunately the service and food were both very underwhelming. When we arrived, the bread was already sitting on the table and wasn't warm at all. Our server never even asked if we wanted drinks -- there was just water already on the tables. I asked for a straw and never received it. About 45 minutes later, when they finally brought steak knives, I had to ask again for both a straw and an actual drink. Our salad plates also sat on the table the entire time and weren't cleared until those knives arrived -- again, roughly 45 minutes after we had finished eating the salads. The food itself was disappointing too. Everything was cold, and the filet even had fat in it. I've honestly never had a filet from a nicer restaurant with noticeable fat before. Overall, the experience felt inattentive and poorly managed. I was genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but sadly I won't be back. read more

Con's: Husband ordered medium cooked steak with shrimp, The steak was overcooked with no visible pink & was very dry. He did not enjoy his meal at all. I ordered filet, also cooked medium. Same thing- overcooked, no pink & very dry. I ordered the regular filet, not grass-fed, which is slightly less expensive, because the server said it would be more tender & flavorful. Wrong. We did not return our orders only because we didn't want to interfere with our friends' anniversary celebration. But this is supposed to be a pricey high end restaurant- how can they serve overcooked dishes that are supposed to be their specialty? Our 3rd visit here was NOT a charm. We went to Rick's chophouse, but we didn't go to the restaurant, we went to the bar in the back. The bar in the back has an amazing energy. There is more ambience there it almost feels like a secret speakeasy. We sat at the counter because it was busy. We were helped by JP one of the bartenders behind the counter. JP was absolutely amazing. I enjoy a good whiskey and I asked him what he recommended. He made me the best whiskey sour I've had and he makes an amazing old-fashioned. We ordered two appetizers, the calamari and baked oysters. The calamari came with a tamarin sauce that was delicious. I would absolutely recommend going to the bar in the back at Rick's chophouse if you're looking for a fun vibe definitely great for a quick date night. This was a wonderful experience. I wanted to take my husband somewhere nice for his birthday, but affordable (we have 3 teenage sons, who can eat their weight in food) so buffet was the best option. Tucked in a comfy hotel, this restaurant is worthy of bearing a title that would put it up against the finest steak houses in the west coast and mid west. Whenever a restaurant has prime rib, ribeye and oysters, it always draws my attention. To start, we had the oyster Rockefeller. Looks and feel are deceiving. Room temperature to the touch of the shell, but underneath that thin blanket of spinach, was a hot oyster full of flavor. Caesar salad had a good taste, and crunch. Could have used a bit more dressing, but it was a good starter. For the courses, we got the prime rib, fried chicken, Cajun Mac and cheese. Fried chicken came with corn and mash potatoes. Corn had bits of bacon with other spices that made it compliment the fried chicken very well. Red potatoes were used for the mash potatoes, and was prepared without whipping them into a texture less dish, which I appreciated. Fried chicken had a very nice crunch to it. The side of Cajun Mac and cheese was something I had never experienced in that way. With mini toasted tomatoes and kick of spice, the Mac and cheese was delicious. The prime rib came with green beans and carrots, which the veggies were cooked to my liking, and not super crunchy. The prime rib did not disappoint, but also brought me to a whole new level I didn't know existed. I'm not an au jus fan, but their au jus was so rich in flavor. The horse radish was to be a considered a condiment to the prime rib, but acted more like a partner in crime. Deep flavor, and creamy. For the prime rib, it was the best I've had based on all the prime rib restaurants I've visited. Cooked to perfection, the tenderness could be felt due to the quality of the meat. You can taste the quality in all the dishes at Rick's Chophouse by the different ingredients in each dish. They are able to take the most simplest side dish, and make sure it has its own staple with the time and care they put into the preparation in this incredible steak house. I recently visited Rick's Chophouse for a nice steak dinner out. I came in with high expectations from the reviews I have read, as well as the reputation I have heard about. The prices were on par with an average steakhouse but, I was still left feeling a little let down after my experience here. We began with the escargot appetizer which was one of my favorite parts of the dinner. It was rich with garlic and a baguette which helped balance it out. Additionally, I appreciated the little touch of the waitress providing us with smaller spoons to scoop out the escargot onto our baguette slices. Next, for our entrees, we both ordered steaks, as pictured below. The steaks were requested at medium rare and medium well, however they were rare and medium rare. We asked out waitress about the undercooked nature of the steaks and she said that sometimes the lighting outdoors can make them present as though they are more rare. I really wanted to believe this but we really did not want the undercooked state of the steaks, for both food safety and preference reasons. She ended up bringing the steaks back to the kitchen and a manager came to check in with us. He said that they will use a meat thermometer and recook the steaks. He also provided us with complimentary watermelon mint sorbet which was actually our favorite thing we ate here. The steaks came out again and they were now at the correct doneness. We enjoyed them along with the au gratin potatoes and garlic whipped golden potatoes. The whipped potatoes were another favorite of the night, but the au gratin were average and actually got cold pretty quickly. Overall, the waitstaff and manager were all very accommodating and helpful during our dinner. They even ended up taking the steaks off of the bill. We tipped them the difference and thanked them for making our experience better despite the situation with the steaks. I appreciate the staff and the wonderful job they did to help correct the error, but I still have to only give this place 3 stars. For the price of the dishes, the experience did not unfortunately live up. The quality was not as high as we expected and truthfully we have had better steaks at other restaurants. We will probably choose a different steakhouse to visit on our next night out for steaks. Thank you! read more
