    Delicious half eaten calamari

Decided to finally try this place near my neighborhood. Nice little find. The place is no frills, but the food was delicious. The Po Boys were spot on. Definitely coming back and trying some of the other dishes.

Owner was taking orders he was very nice and knowledgeable. I asked him what he would order and he was honest and it wasn't the most expensive thing on the menu. Definitely a tucked away restaurant. Nothing fancy, but good food and frozen margarita. There's so many things I want to try so I'll be back.

Decided to try a new spot. Cajun cuisine is close to my heart. This place is nice and clean. Chill atmosphere. Great customer service. I felt welcomed. Good variety of food. A place worth trying for yourself. This is what I tried: Crab boil: 7/10 nice juicy pieces of crab. The corn was sweet but a bit over cooked. The potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer. The sauce was good but needs more of a balance in flavor and some depth from the soul. My personal favorite profile is sweet and spicy with a good hint of lemon.... This could have been better. Fried okra: 7/10 cooked well. Missing some seasoning. Red beans and rice: 7/10 cooked well. Flavor was ok. Seems a bit oniony but creamy. Fried catfish: 10/10 well cooked, flavor on point, added cajun flavor as an option. Fish was fresh and flaky. I would come back for this. Hush puppies: 10/10 sweet, fluffy, actual pieces of corn inside, well cooked, flavorful. Key lime pie: 10/10 well balanced, not too citrusy, creamy, nor too sweet, perfect pie. Tartar sauce: I believe this is made in house.... Not sure but it tastes like it. It has the right flavor, consistency, thickness. I always prefer made in house or close to it. Cocktail sauce: this may be made in house.. not sure but it tastes like it. A bit sweet and savory.

My husband and I are usually not fans of counter service restaurants. When we go out to eat, we really enjoy a full service experience where we can take our time, start with appetizers or beverages, and enjoy the entire meal. We have no problem tipping for good service. That said, we kept hearing such great things about Cajun Fish Grill that we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we asked if we could start a tab, order clam chowder and beverages first, and then order our entrées later. They were incredibly accommodating and had no problem with this request, which we truly appreciated. The clam chowder was very hearty, thick, and full of flavor. I especially loved the fresh cracked pepper. My husband ordered the blackened mahi mahi with red beans and rice, and he substituted new potatoes for the zucchini. Everything on his plate was delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the Cajun pasta Alfredo with shrimp, andouille sausage, pulled chicken, and zucchini in a Cajun Alfredo sauce. It was absolutely lick your plate delicious. Even though this is a counter service restaurant, the food and flexibility made the experience feel special. We will definitely be back to try more items. This place was truly extraordinary.

Food was excellent! Best crab legs you can get for this price! Would 100% recommend. Place is nice and was not busy. Easy to get food and was very fast.

You order at the counter and then find a place to sit. The service was great. We were eating lunch at about 1:30 so not very crowded. I noticed several to go orders for carryout. small place however it does have outdoor seating which we took advantage of a beautiful day today. I had catfish seafood ettefae and my husband had a shrimp catfish fried combination plate. We have eaten a lot of Cajun food so I am pretty picky. It was all good, however not the best I've ever had. The service was attentive, friendly is fully owned. I love supporting local owned businesses!

Grilled Catfish with Veracruz sauce is outstanding. Étouffée, fried catfish, shrimp gumbo, jambalaya, Cajun Seafood Alfredo, every dish we've tried has been delicious. The Chef owned restaurant has brought incredible seafood to McKinney.

This place is still delicious! The grilled veggies were excellent, and I can't wait to try my own burger next time! The crab legs were outstanding!

Been to most of the cajun spots in the area and this place is great. The crawfish étouffée had me taking smaller bites to make it last longer. The manager or maybe owner was attentive and made sure we had everything. The place was plain looking and a little dim but not dirty. Kinda pricey for cheap people like me but what isn't pricey these days. I recommend people try it at least once.

Just finished dinner here at Cajun Fish Grill and we throughly enjoyed our meals. We had their fried catfish, jambalaya and gumbo. My picky son all 3 pieces of his fish. It wasn't bland like most place where you need to dip it into something. The hush puppies were actually fantastic . It wasnt something random added to fill the basket. Their Jambalya was prob one of the best we've had. There was an abundant amount of shrimp for every bite. We enjoyed the food so much we got their cajun Alfredo to try later at home. Friendly servers also.

Food is amazing. The catfish, shrimp and fish tacos are all amazing. This small "hole in the wall" atmosphere is alive with flavor.

The lobster tail was a bit tough and overcooked, which is a waste. Mussels were good too. Garlic noodles were not our favorite. Corn and potatoes are good, but they're a bit stingy about it only giving you one of each. When your seafood boil is $70+, you should get more than one of each. The flavors linger in your mouth for a bit. It lingered for almost 2 days for me, but would definitely return!

Unfortunately, the service was questionable. Our server had difficulty communicating in English, which led to a costly misunderstanding. When we ordered crab, she never asked what type of crab we wanted and instead assumed king crab, which is significantly more expensive than other options. As a result, our bill was much higher than expected. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill without it being mentioned to us beforehand. While restaurants may choose to add gratuity in certain situations, customers should be clearly informed so there are no surprises. My advice: enjoy the food, but be very specific when ordering. Confirm exactly what type of crab you're getting, verify the pricing, and check your bill carefully. Also remember that gratuity should be clearly communicated and not assumed. Better communication would have made this a much better overall experience.I'd rate it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Great food, but the service and communication issues took away from the experience.

I got a small gumbo and catfish nuggets at 6.99 each. Even though they have a sign on the door for drink specials, apparently they didn't last more than like two months because they aren't offering that anymore. So I just asked for a water cup. 15.12 and you order at the counter and get your own drink. The water button on the soda machine sticks, so prepare for it to run for like a full 45 seconds before it magically unsticks. Gumbo came out in about ten minutes, but weirdly wasn't hot. Catfish nuggets came out about ten minutes after that (weird since they are both apps) and I asked for my soup to be reheated. I tried a nugget and it was ok, but there's like zero seasoning on them. Bland as my last tinder date people. For a place that touts New Orleans in the name, there's no creole/cajun influence here. Everything was just bland, especially the gumbo. By the way, he took it to reheat and by the time he returned it (14 min later) I needed to leave. He was nice enough to give me a lid and bag though. Service was ok, but there's like one guy and when he disappeared it was for ten minutes. I don't know if he was having to cook it or what but it made service slow. I've visited three times now and feel a three is appropriate. It's fine if you aren't looking for what the name implies.

The fish is to die for - flaky and perfectly seared with a generous seasoning of Cajun spices, enough to impart a ton of flavor, without being hot or overpowering. Tender and moist to the last bite! I also sampled their mac n' cheese (wonderfully cheesy without being runny or too thick), and their collard greens were one of the best renditions I've tried (don't think this is done with ham hocks, but definitely some kind of pork is infused into it). The cornbread was a let down, as it was a tad dry and over baked on the outside. Finished the meal off with a generous slice of their banana pudding, which I highly recommend.
