This place is dope- it super close to where my mom lives and we were craving fried chicken. Unfortunately there's not KFC or Popeyes near us so to yelp we went, and discovered this new place! So obviously we ordered a small soy garlic wings, which was 10 super crispy, flavorful and meaty chicken goodness coated with that Korean soy garlic sauce. Definitely enough to flavor the wing but not too much to overtake every other flavor and definitely kept the skin crunchy. I would ordered again and absolutely recommend it. My disappointment with this location is an understatement. I have ordered from here a few times in the past and never had any major issues but tonight was a big letdown. I placed an order from their website at 6:30 pm. After charging my card and receiving my confirmation email, they call me 10 minutes later letting me know their internal system was incorrect regarding the pickup time and it would be ready in 2 hours instead of 45 minutes. I quickly conferred with my family as we all agreed to wait since our plans had changed for New Year. Not a big deal. On our way to collect the order, I called to let them know we were on our way but there was no answer. I figured they were busy so I didn't put much thought into it. Upon arrival, the door was locked and the place looked empty. I knocked on the door because I noticed there were still employees in the kitchen, most likely cleaning up. A girl came to the door and said the kitchen was closed and no orders were available for pickup. I explained to her I already paid for the order, showed her the confirmation email, showed my receipt from my bank, and explained to her that one of their employees called me stating it would be ready in 2 hours and that I agreed to it. They apparently canceled my order and didn't tell me. No phone call. No follow-up email. No reversal on the transaction. They tried to brush me off like this wasn't a problem. We demanded to speak with the manager because I wanted my money back knowing the food wouldn't be made. She went and got someone who was allegedly the owner. When we explained to him the situation, he didn't seem to really understand what the problem was and tried to disregard us. The girl translated to him what we had been explaining (we didn't realize English was not his first language) and she said we'll get our money back later because it was paid with a card. No proof of a refund. No proof of cancellation. Just his word. My wife and I were clearly upset because of all the time wasted and the inconsiderate or incompetent nature of this particular establishment. The owner got a bit loud and belligerent with my wife which prompted her to call Nutley PD just so we could get everything documented because clearly, this was not going to be settled any other way. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch after flying in. I was familiar with Bonchon so I decided to give this location a try! I was really in the mood for Korean fried chicken so I ended up getting the garlic-soy and the sweet crunch. The wings were decent. I didn't feel like it was anything special but still good! The texture was perfect. Nice crunchy skin with juicy tasty chicken on the inside. My only problem is that the sauce wasn't very flavor full. In fact, I couldn't really distinguish between the garlic-soy or the sweet crunch. They both basically tasted the same and I can't tell if that was just from a lack of enough sauce. But overall, I still enjoyed the experience. I am more than willing to come back and try more of their food! read more

This location is a year old and is very clean/inviting. Lots of parking around this area for those who plan on driving and plenty of seating area for those thinking about dining in. The chicken here is prepared perfectly and is always crispy/juicy. I usually order their soy garlic wings and drums combo and I'm never disappointed. Three other dishes I would also like to recommend are their bibimbap (with a fried egg on top), seasoned fries, and their japchae. What makes this location special is that they offer many other Korean dishes on their menu. For example, they have bulgogi sliders and kimchi pancakes aka pajeon. Finally stopped off to get a menu after my daughters dance lesson next door. Place was packed so I just picked up the menu and decided to order for dinner. Place is small and reminds of a place you'd find in Downtown JC or Hoboken. Very excited that Nutley is attracting these types of business's. I am home alone thanks to a casting. I was craving some seafood or chicken. Chicken won and I remembered Bonchon always being yummy. I ordered lunch through Uber Eats. Of course, Korean Fried Chicken did not fail! I ordered Soy Garlic Boneless Wings. They were crunchy, well seasoned and delicious. My only complaint is I wanted more sauce ! I've been a longtime fan of Bonchon so when I heard it was opening in Nutley I couldn't believe it. This town does not exactly fit Bonchon's demographic. However, since KFC is becoming more mainstream I suppose people will travel from afar for their wings. Unlike others, my wait time was exactly what was told to me, 30 minutes. The wings are made to order which is why there is such a wait. This was on a Sat night at 5:45pm. I called ahead for a 10 pack of half & half wings and they offered to call back when it was ready. 30 minutes later i received a call and it was ready when I got there. No issues. Perhaps they improved their process due to customer complaints. I'll have to order again to find out for sure. The wings themselves are what I remember, extra crispy with the yummy salty/sweet soy garlic flavor. The spicy wings are delicious too. Their menu offers other Korean style apps and main dishes as well, which sets them apart from Boom Boom in Rutherford. That seemed like a long time but OK, restaurants are still struggling for help so I'd be patient. At 8:41pm I received another email saying that they received my order. ??? At 9pm, a DoorDash driver called to tell me that half of my food was unavailable. I told him to refuse the rest of the order. Now I'll have to jump through hoops to have my money refunded. And I'm starving. To be clear, this was no fault of DoorDash. The Nutley Bonchon is completely at fault. If they didn't have the items to make my food, why didn't they call me an hour and a half earlier to ask if I wanted to change or cancel my order? I'm happy to say that since its disastrous opening, BonChon Nutley significantly improved its service. I've tried it 3 times since my last review and the food has consistently been ready within 15 minutes, phone calls made all 3 times to tell me the food was ready to be picked up, and I was asked how many radish side dishes I needed. "Most Improved" Award definitely goes to BonChon here. The only downside is that the wings are still on the smaller side, and dryer than I'm used to for Korean fried chicken. Terrible customer service, terrible business, they purposely say extreme wait times even for walk in customers just so they don't have to work!! I ordered a medium wings at 6:30 pm on 11/25/15.....the day before thanksgiving, was told it would be 40 minutes so I padded in a little extra time and went there at 7:15 after standing in front of the cashier for 5 solid minutes she FINALLY acknowledged my presence. Gave her my name and she came back and said it was going to be another 15 minutes. I had previously been been a regular at BonChon in FiDi 4/5 years ago before they closed that location. So seeing that they had opened in Nutley I was excited. I ordered delivery through DoorDash and I was not disappointed! This is just as good as the BonChon I got previously. Both the spicy strips and soy chicken strips are awesome! Different from your average fried chicken and I highly recommend. Both flavors are great but I love the spicy, these really have a strong kick to them so I'd only order if you can handle the heat! I've been to many Bonchon chains, and the Nutley branch is one of the top in the top of my list. The glaze on their chicken is so savory and super crispy, and they manage to keep the meat still so moist. I usually try to get their lunch special deal, which includes 8 wings as one option (my usual go-to option). If you're a fan of spicy foods, Bonchon's spicy sauce is one of the hottest I've had, but something about it is just so addicting. I do, however, wish their chicken lunch specials came with a side--which is something I've seen and favored in other Bonchon chains. If you're not craving fried chicken, Bonchon still offers a great array of food, including but not limited to Baos, Chicken Katsu, Japchae, Salmon Avocado Balls, Shumai, etc. This location specifically also offers bubble teas and mochi. Despite not enjoying the normal 20 minute wait, I'd accepted that was a choice I was making. That said, my most recent experiences have turned me from a supporter to a detractor. 2 weeks ago, I called to place an order at 715p, and was told they are taking no more orders, despite their business being open until 8p. My second experience is even more recent. Placed an order online, arrived on time, and was told my order wasn't ready. 20 minutes later, many other orders with time stamps that were 20 minutes later had orders ready, by mine was not. From order time until it was ready, it took 1 hour for 12 boneless wings. As much as I love the taste, I cannot continue to support a business that has just stopped caring, and doesn't respect others. We've had a good run, and I'm done.
