Good vibes Good food Good servers I ate the whole meal including the woman Sadly women didn't eat her whole meal so I split the check 10/10

We stopped here for a late lunch. We were seated right away, service was friendly, and our dishes arrived quickly. We split an order of boneless soy garlic tenders, fries, and a garden salad, and everything was good and about what we expected from visits to other Bonchon locations. Their dining area inside did seem on the smaller side, but it wasn't too crowded at the time we went.

Interior is nice ... the bar is granite, the back wall is brick, floors are dark grey slate, and seating is high cocktail tables. I ordered Strips - half garlic, half spicy, with coleslaw. Pinot Griogio. Tip: if you get half spicy, don't eat it first because you won't taste your garlic soy. Lol. All delicious. Friendly staff.

We stopped in here while visiting New Haven. It wasn't for a full meal, just for a little snack. It was worth it. Clean with lots of tables and a great staff. There was a TV which was showing a baseball game at the time. There's street parking available with meters, but you have to be lucky to get a spot depending the time you come. There are a few lots in the area. The food was really good. We ordered the soy garlic wings which were very crispy. It was almost like eating fried chicken with garlic sauce on it. The fries are also very crispy and delicious. We also got the shrimp shumai. I really liked the sauce on top, the shumai was just OK. It might've tasted better if it was steamed instead of fried. That's my mistake. Overall a good value with some tasty menu choices.

It was New Year's Day and the spot I planned to eat at was closed. My husband looked up Korean food and found Bonchon New Haven. We were seated right away and brought some ice waters. We decided to skip the appetizers and share beef bulgogi and chicken katsu. Both came out hot and plenty of food. The beef bulgogi was in a cast iron skillet it was accompanied by sautéed green onions, peppers, and mushrooms and a side of rice. The marinated ribeye was so delicious I wish I knew what the marinate actually was. The chicken katsu was so crispy and thinly sliced it had two sauces on top one of them being a spicy mayo. I wish I had known how good it was or I would have asked for extra spicy mayo. Next time I hope to try the fried chicken.

We went to celebrate and dine in on a weeknight but unfortunately reached a little late and had to do takeout instead. I was pleasantly surprised to see good amount of vegetarian options and spicy options. My indian palate was very happy to see vegetarian potstickers which I had to get and I also asked those to be spicy and they indeed were. I also wanted to get some recommendations from the staff and they said Bibimbap which is a wholesome choice as it has rice, quinoa, vegetables, egg, lettuce and a side of spicy sauce. I was not the fan of the sauce but the rest of the dish had a terrific combination together. It had a decent portion size. My husband tried the same Bibimbap with seafood and he loved it too. He also didn't enjoy the sauce too much. We would surely want to try more stuff on their menu and would go back. Their service and ambiance was nice and pleasant. I wish to have more time on our next visit to enjoy all that.

I ordered via UberEats. I can't speak on the service or the ambience, but the food was delicious. Seafood fried rice, mixed chicken wings, potstickers and pickled radish. I've been hearing great things about Korean fried chicken and it met my expectations. The rice was pretty good. It reminded me of Thai basil fried rice. The pickled radish was an added bonus. I wasn't too interested, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm glad I finally tried Bonchon.

The food was delicious and the service was good. The place is small but doesn't get overly crowded. At least while we were there, it wasn't. They did start putting the chairs on the tables while we were there, I guess to let us and the 2 other tables know that they were closing..

We came for late lunch during weekdays, easy parking right outside the restaurant. Restaurant was empty during this hour .. There's happy hour from 3 to 7pm you can enjoy beer or wine. Lunch special ends 3pm too bad we missed it this time. Everything taste great, the chicken wings taste the same as the one in Queens Ktown. Gotta get the spicy one & soy sauce garlic flavor, radish side dish sweet & sour crunchy! Seasoned fries was good. The Japanese octopus balls didn't have seaweed topping, but it tastes good. Even the one in nyc st. Mark lost the quality after it expanded. I'll vote for this one now. I'm glad they have it here and taste good. It will look more attractive to sprinkle green dry seaweed and be generous to have more fish flakes and mayo (i hope the owner see this) The rice in stone bowl taste great, although it's not as hot as expected......I'm a bit disappointed they didn't put Spinach Will definitely come back again to try other items on the menu. Overall happy stomach.

I LOVE Bonchon. Their chicken is so good. I like their Korean tacos or the soy garlic and spicy wings. The spicy wings are no joke in terms of spice, but they're so good.

Half and half Combo 15 Wings 8 Drumsticks

Having a craving for KFC ie Korean Fried Chicken Found this place which has good reviews. We tried a large combo half soy garlic and half Korean bbq. Also ordered kimchi fried rice. The order came out quickly. The chicken was hot send crispy. Complementary daikon and kimchi was served along with gloves to handle the sticky chicken. The chicken was crispy and crunchy and very tasty. The fried rice was also great. The main issue here is that you have to find street parking but it's worth the hassle.

During my 24-hour trip to New Haven, my boyfriend suggested we try Bonchon. I had not heard of them until recently and was excited to give them a try. For a Friday night, the vibes were pretty chill. We were seated immediately and provided with menus. The White Lotus cocktail certainly caught my eye. Made of Vodka, Cream of Coconut, Amaretto, and Pineapple juice. I decided to give it a try. The drink wasn't bad but it didn't excite my tastebuds the way I thought it would. The food was the highlight of the night! We tried the signature fried chicken and I can see why it's a signature. The soy garlic drumsticks were delicious and crispy. They were cooked perfectly and the flavors amazing. We also ordered the Bibimbap and the Japchae. Both dishes were sooooo good! I'm missing the food right now as I write this review. I'm hoping the New York locations are just as good.

Five-Star Review If…read moreyou're looking for a restaurant that turns dinner into an experience, Dawa Korean Restaurant is it. The tabletop cooking is nothing short of epic--interactive, fun, and perfectly paced--so every bite hits the table at peak flavor. The pork and beef are absolutely phenomenal: richly marinated, tender, and grilled to smoky perfection right in front of you. The sushi is fresh and beautifully balanced, and the chicken wings are a knockout--crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with bold, savory flavor. Save room for dessert, because the deep-fried ice cream is pure joy: hot, crunchy shell giving way to cold, creamy bliss. What truly elevates Dawa, though, is the staff. They're extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind--always happy to guide you through the menu, explain the grilling process, and make sure your experience is flawless. Highly recommended without hesitation. But then what about coming here if I was in such a hurry? Well, I actually learned of this place's existence when I was going to do the Taichi Tea Elite Experience only to find that I had never been confirmed in that event. But after looking at earlier Taichi Tea reviews that day and finding a reviewer who reviewed both that place and this one, I knew this place needed my visit at some point. Also, I had to wait till tonight to come in big part because I had been on medical recovery from a stomach infection since last month, so I wanted to make sure I was feeling better first so I could give this place the best chance possible to excel. Tonight was actually my 3rd time ordering through the Yelp app, but the other 2 times had mixed results. One place confirmed my order while the other canceled twice, so this order was also a test to see if ordering through Yelp was reliable or not. Through God's good graces, this was a success! Service from the employees there was pretty friendly to boot too. So far so good! Now let's get into my order. I ordered three dogs (the Classic, the Mozzarella Cheddar, and then the Squid Ink half and half). All told, I paid $24.77, and that amount includes a $6.55 tip. So yes, this place is actually quite affordable in New Haven! And boy oh BOY are these three worth it! Before I continue, I will remark another dog with the potato crusting done on it. That looked pretty gas (is that a term kids use these days?). I started with the Squid Ink, and honestly, what they did with that thing is genius! The breading is black as squid ink should be, and the hot dog portion at the bottom is crated in such a way to resemble a squid's tentacles (sorry Squidward). It was fire! For the classic, I dipped that in honey mustard, one of my favorite condiments to have on any hot dog. It was pretty good too. And the mozzarella cheddar finished it off! All three were really good! If I had to pick my favorite, I'd say the Squid Ink dog is definitely the winner of the night. I just can't get over how awesome that creativity was. It was more than an "Oh K-Dog". It was an "Oh My God, These Dogs Rule" K-Dogs! I said what I said. Good night everybody!

We got our soup bases first, rice, then meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles, everything arrived quickly and stayed stocked. Service was great and our waitress Dana was nice. A few things were disappointing though: the grill wasn't centered on the table and kept turning off, which made cooking a little frustrating and cramped. This location also doesn't offer crab legs (even though we saw them online), which was a big letdown for my daughter. The sauce/appetizer station was just wack, the dessert area was really lacking no ice cream, only sponge cake and some stale looking popcorn. Dana did bring our table 1 cupcake, which was sweet of her. Overall, we had fun and left full after about 1.5 hours, (limit is 2) but the desserts, missing crab legs, and grill issues make me not want to return. The food itself was fresh and flavorful, though, and service was fast and friendly.

Prices run a bit high, but the quality of the ingredients more than make up for it. The Jako Salad (4.5/5) is a favorite of mine. It perfectly mixes peppery arugula and crisp radish with a poached egg, fried baby anchovy, bonito flakes, and nori. The baby anchovy gives a sweet/salty crunch that tastes like my childhood. Every bite swings between fresh and umami in a really creative way. The harasu don (5/5) is pure richness in a rice bowl. Grilled salmon belly and salmon roe together are incredibly rich, almost to the edge of too much, but the warm rice underneath keeps it grounded and turns it into a perfect comfort dish. The giant octopus sashimi (4/5) is a great counterbalance, cleanly sliced with a firm, fresh bite that lightens things up. The fresh tofu with uni (5/5) might be my favorite plate. The tofu is ultra delicate, and the rich uni on top adds a briny depth. With the simple seasonings on the side, it's a savory panna cotta. If they ever did a dessert version with ginger syrup, I would be here daily. Sashimi here is excellent (5/5). You get a balanced mix of fatty cuts like otoro and leaner ones like akami, along with hamachi, katsuo, and octopus. The variety lets you move between clean and rich bites at your own pace. A side note. Every so often a piece of yamamomo shows up on the plate (small red berries), a little mountain peach that is sweet enough to outshine most desserts. It may just be a palette cleanser, but it is a personal 10/5 for me. So good! Both indoor and outdoor seating feel comfortable, and service was on point: kind, attentive, and well timed. Overall, this is a standout Japanese option that I would highly recommend if you're ever in New Haven.

Hachiroku was a highly anticipated place after being nominated for Restaurant of the Year in New…read moreHaven County for Connecticut Restaurant Association's annual Crazies awards so I had it on my list of must go to restaurants. I have also never been to a sake bar. Have to say....I was underwhelmed. We came in last Friday and apparently it was slow because Yale was off (according to our waiter). If a restaurant is good they should not be slow on a Friday night. We sat by the door on a cold night and there were two other couples practically on top of us. Rest of the seating are high tops against a wall by the bar or up the stairs on another level. We would have liked to sit upstairs but they were closing off that area. Menu was complex as the restaurant is authentic Japanese. Lots of beef options. Lots of Wagyu. I was hoping to be blown away by this restaurant trying something different. I was struggling trying to find something to order that sounded appetizing. I knew going in that this place was authentic Japanese but I don't know, nothing sounded great to me. I love mushrooms so I got the Mixed Kinoko Mushroom appetizer which was $15. To add scallops was another $8. Mushrooms were tasty. Scallops were not. $23 for a small dish. I also got the pork short ribs. Not a ton of meat on them, however, nice flavor. I was still hungry after this so I ordered a dessert which was the best part of the meal. They get some of their desserts from Hen & Heifer which is a well established place in Guilford. I got the Ube Panna cotta. Boyfriend got the Black cod Yu-an Yaki and upgraded to add the salad, pickles and rice for $3 more. The pickles were maybe two bites. Salad tasty but again, very small. He said the cod was just ok too. Very small portions and pricey for what you get. $30 for a mini sake flight. Not impressed with how it was served either. Small tasting glasses just placed on the table with no description. The server explained which was which, but I didn't remember. Not sure if he didn't care or this is how it's normally served, but if you go to a wine bar/brewery, they provide descriptions with flights usually written underneath the glass, or at least serve it in something. Not just tiny glasses placed on a table where you have no idea what you're having. Especially for $30! I was not impressed with this place whatsoever. As this is part of a newer restaurant group with a few different locations nearby in New Haven, we then went to their cocktail Lounge on crown street (116 Cocktail Bar) thinking it might be better, however we were equally disappointed. It was dead in there and the bartenders were miserable. They couldn't wait to get out of there. I have heard that their hand roll bar is very good (Handroll on State St). We have been to their Grocery Store called The Loop and it's cute. They have a brunch at the Grocery/Kitchen location that looks really good. They also have a wine lounge at The Loop that I'd like to try.
