We didn't know what to expect since food in the suburbs can be pretty hit and miss, but Soi21 was actually really, really good. We got the Moo Krob, the red curry, sticky rice, and both the roasted eggplant jeow and the roasted tomato jeow. We also both got a cocktail. Service was fast and the inside was pleasant enough (it must have once been a Caribou, it reminded me of one). The food was definitely really good. The stars of the show were the jeows, some of the best we have had. The curry was flavorful and tasty, as was the Moo Krob. The cocktails were good; I would not come here expecting the same quality as a cocktail bar, but for a mom and pop thai restaurant, they were definitely above average. All in all I would definitely reccomed this place, especially before a show at the new amphitheater.

There is a good variety of Chinese, Hmong, and Vietnamese options (mainly pho). When I picked up my order the location appeared very clean and chill. I wouldn't mind eating in the restaurant. They also have kiosks where you order rather than ordering with a person, but someone was close to greet me and hand me my to go order. Onto the food, my friend ordered the sesame chicken with white rice. The portion is pretty good sized, unfortunately I don't have a photo. The sauce is very dark, and didnt really give sesame chicken as you'd probably expect from other sesame chickens in the twin cities. However it was a nice umami and cooked well. I enjoyed them, but it was not to my friend's taste nor what she expected. I ordered the braised pork belly special with purple sticky rice and Hmong sausage. The pork belly came with one egg, you can add more for an additional cost. The sausage comes with a spicy sauce, which you can also get extra for additional cost. The pork belly was soooo fatty. Like barely any fat rendering seems to have occurred and for being braised and fatty the meat was surprisingly dry/tough. The flavor was very sweet. It would have been nice for a bit more salty/umami to shine through. The egg was yummy, sauce penetrated the egg white pretty completely. Not sure how those are supposed to be in this particular dish, but it was a hard boil, not jammy or anything like that. The Hmong sausage was my favorite, very nice texture and flavor. The sauce is super spicy and pairs well with everything. The purple sticky rice was also perfect. Last, I added on a mango cheese bun which was fresh, lightly sweet, and delicious however it was not made from Vangz. It was pre packed from a St Paul bakery, so still local at least but I was expecting from their dessert options that those were made in house. Overall, the meal was decent. I purposely went with a special dish rather than a more popular choice because I like to show different options in my reviews. I hate when I can't find the whole menu in actual customer photos. If people are only ordering 5 items from you, that says something about your menu and overall food quality. I'm still curious to see what else Vangz has to offer before I write them off. I was torn between choosing the pork belly stir fry or crispy pork belly. I'd also love to try their pho. I will be back to try more and update my review :)

Our waiter was wonderful, friendly, and recommended a few choices. We wound up ordering a couple drinks and shared our dishes. The mango mojito was delicious, but lacked the typical mojito flavors. I love mango, so I was happy either way. My date ordered the Thai hot honey chicken and we both agreed that it was pretty mediocre. The flavor was a bit subpar and the sauce was more fishy than we expected. Not bad, but certainly not anything either of us would order again. I tried the red curry with tofu and it was phenomenal. The spice level was perfect and flavorful, I'm thinking about returning just to try it again! I would happily return again, but don't expect it to be a cheap spot! Our two entrees and drinks came out over $100.

Chang's in about 10 years, and in my experience the food has changed dramatically. Previously P.F. Chang's felt more like fine dinning, this seemed more like Chinese takeout on nice plates with a high price tag. The lettuce wraps were 4/5. They tasted amazing but were not hot. I also got the firecracker shrimp with brown rice. The shrimp was 5/5 for flavor, but the brown rice tasted undercooked and very dry like it had been sitting out. Overall good presentation was not impressive. The margarita was flavorful without being too sugary. Service: 3/5. I'm not sure if the waitress just didn't want to interrupt us from talking, but she barely checked in on us and took over 20 minutes to take our food order after our entire party showed up. Ambiance: 4/5. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating. They sat most people in the booths along the windows. Overall the acoustics were good and we could hear each other talking. Overall the quality of food seems to have gone down from what P.F. Chang's uses to be years ago. This seemed like an overpriced Chinese takeout experience in a more elevated space.

Disappointing experience: Manager shifts blame to new server…read more My family and I had a highly frustrating experience here due to a massive failure in kitchen execution and managerial leadership. While our server, Trevor, was fantastic, more than willing to help, and did his absolute best to fix our issues, the manager completely ruined the evening. The management issue: An older, white male manager with short grey hair (wearing a full suit) did comp our entire meal and drinks. However, his apology was incredibly cold and dismissive. Instead of taking accountability, he hyper-fixated on a single mistake Trevor made, using it to blame the servers and complain about him being new. It was deeply uncomfortable to watch a manager project the kitchen's massive failures onto his front-of-house staff. The kitchen & service issues: We dealt with three different kitchen/support staff members, and there was a severe lack of knowledge regarding Gluten-Free (GF) safety and the menu in general: - The food: The GF Pad Thai had undercooked, noodles and completely overcooked shrimp. The GF fried rice was mushy and flavorless. Soups were never brought out while we were there (over an hour). - The staff: Incorrect meals were brought out repeatedly (image attached was a server claiming the two dishes were the same thing even though one was incorrect). A server (long blonde hair, acrylic nails) brought an incorrect meal back to the kitchen, only to bring the exact same plate back out to insist to us that they weren't wrong (which I'm 100% certain is not allowed due to health regulations and standard food safety protocols that dictate that it cannot be re-served due to contamination risks). Later, another server with short dark hair dropped off a replacement dish, literally saying, "I'm just the messenger," as they put it down. Only one dish was ever rung in wrong by Trevor, yet management used him as a scapegoat for a systemic kitchen disaster. Trevor deserves a raise for dealing with this environment; management needs a serious lesson in accountability and food safety.

You order at the cash register in the entrance and they will bring the food to you. We ordered a fried chicken sandwich, Char Siu, egg rolls and rice. The favorite was definitely the chicken. It was very crispy, thick, moist and flavorful. It was on a pretzel bun, which normally I am a fan of but I think it takes away from the flavor of the fried chicken and the gochujang sauce we got and doesn't quite make sense. To me, it seems more haha a burger bun than fried chicken. The char Siu was good, but very small pieces of meat for the big price tag. The egg rolls were delicious and we liked the way they were cut along with the dipping sauce. Overall, we would come back but I think we would focus on just getting fried chicken and apps and avoid the rest.

I was in Minneapolis for a work trip and found this spot while searching for some Asian food nearby…read moreand I am SOOOO glad I did. First of all, the restaurant is super cute. It has this tropical and airy vibe with a bunch of plants everywhere. It's partially open air with indoor seating too. I sat at the bar and they had all the windows open and the whole atmosphere was just perfect. It's a Vietnamese fusion spot and apparently a James Beard Award winner which I can definitely understand after eating here. To start the bartender recommended the shrimp toast so I ordered that along with the sweet corn wontons. The shrimp toast was SO interesting!!! It was like a shrimp mousse on toast. I honestly loved it but fair warning, it was reaaaally spicy with the fresh jalapeños on top. Still so good though I pushed through. The sweet corn wontons were AMAZING. They came in this super flavorful broth that I drank by itself after. For dessert, I tried their version of mango sticky rice, which was probably one of the most interesting things I had. They don't actually use rice and instead use this jell-o??? but somehow you still get all the flavors of mango sticky rice. So different and SO delicious. My fav of the night! For drinks I tried with the Life Aquatic which was a mezcal cocktail with cucumber and it was smoky, refreshing and overall just amazing. Then I asked for a lychee martini which wasn't even on the menu but they attempted to make one for me anyway. 10/10 execution because it was also amazing! I was genuinely impressed by everything...the food, drinks, atmosphere and the service. They even gave me a little taste of their slushies to try at the end which were super tasty too.
