I had a pretty bad experience. It felt like a total waste of money. To start, the soda was completely flat, not a single bubble in it. It's a small thing, but drinking flat syrup really sets a bad tone for the rest of the meal. We also tried the Bulgogi Fries. They were fine, I guess, but definitely not worth what they're charging. They are way overpriced for what you actually get. The food didn't get much better from there: Chicken Fried Rice: This was extremely "normal." There wasn't anything special about it, but for some reason, it had a weird hit of sugar in it that shouldn't have been there. Japchae: This was the real disaster. Japchae is not supposed to be sweet, but this version was sugary and cloying. It was honestly the grossest japchae I've ever had, and I've been eating that dish my entire life. Ultimately, the whole meal just felt like an exercise in late-stage capitalism: mass-produced, overpriced, oversugared and poor quality. People really shouldn't be eating this kind of food. Save your time and your cash and go somewhere else. read more

It's Korean Fast Food! I've tried a variety of dishes here, Bibimbap, Bulgogi, Bao, and of course, the fried chicken! You have to keep in mind that it IS fast food, so don't expect authentic bibimbap that's traditionally served crackling hot in a heavy, sizzling stone bowl (dolsot) to create crispy rice. Since it's in a standard takeout or dine-in bowl, there's no signature crispy crust on the bottom....but it's still yummy! The star of Bonchon is of course is the fried chicken. I like the fact that it does not use pre-salted or heavily seasoned chicken meat under the skin like the other fast food restaurants. The signature savory, sweet, and salty flavors come entirely from the outer glaze, like the Soy Garlic. I'm grateful for this fresh and flavorful choice for fast food! read more

Really good fried Chicken and great service. Great spot to grab a quick bite. I love the Korean fried Chicken with the spicy sauce and Kimchi on the side. My friend and I met here for dinner and she ended up getting the Kimchi Pork Belly fried rice. I tried a bite of it and it was delicious. I really want to try other things on their menu but the Fried Chicken wins every time. Will have to try something different next time. read more

I really like the Korean fried chicken here at Bonchon! 5/5 for the chicken alone. They have boneless wings, traditional wings and drumstick Korean fried chicken options. You can get the Korean fried chicken with or without sauce. I like the Yangmgeon and spicy garlic sauces. I think the limited sides and other dishes could have more flavor and don't recommend them. Was randomly in the area and looking for dinner one night.. started heading to a certain establishment but then saw bonchon and decided to veer left... and boy am I glad we did! Didn't expect it to be "sit down" so that was a fun surprise, and while the chairs were terribly uncomfortable, it was made up for by the kindness of the staff and the amazingness of the chicken! The server helped us walk through the menu and in the end we chose the drum sticks, the wings and the bulgogi fries. We also each got a coleslaw and a pickled radish. The fries were kind of boring but still good.. probably a one and done for us. BUT THE CHICKEN!!!!!!!!! You can do 2 flavors on one plate so I got the wings with the garlic soy and the new crispy chicken seasoning and my friend got the garlic soy and the Korean BBQ. We almost couldn't decide which we liked best, (but when we came back 2 days later again, I was totally craving the crispy chicken seasoning!!). I think the crispy chicken is limited time, but I hope they make it permanent at some point because it is mouth drooling good! But either way we will be back for more! read more

Bonchon, to me, is a good idea with mediocre execution. It's basically fast casual Korean food with a focus on Korean Fried Chicken. But the quality is comparable to Panda Express. Maybe that's a little harsh. In an area with very few Koran options--and by area, I mean all of Minnesota, not just Maple Grove--maybe the novelty of it stands out. But most.big cities have more of a thriving Asian-influenced food scene and more authentic places to get KFC. The biggest problem is that the chicken isn't very good. And it is very expensive. It's not wax crispy as you'd expect and the sauces, usually hand painted on at a better place, are usually unevenly applied leaving areas uncovered, which just shows a lack of attention to detail, because the entire point of brushing them on is supposed to be ensuring even coverage. The other dishes, honestly, are better. More often than not, I just order the bibimbap instead. It's over-priced, but, again, it's not like there are a lot of places to get one around her, and it's predictably reliable. The same goes for the noodle dishes and fried rice. read more

*updated review* I have finally eaten in restaurant and the experience was fantastic! All of the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The place is larger than it looks from the outside and there is plenty of comfortable seating. It is very bright inside with a minimalistic vibe that I like. All the food comes out beautifully hot, fresh and yummy. And if you order chicken they bring you a separate bucket for you bones. Love it here! The fried chicken was the fan favorite, so crispy. We got the classic crunch which is like a salty super tasty dry rub and not spicy. We also got the yangnyeom which was like a sweet and spicy glaze. This one definitely had some heat to it. For other dishes we got the bulgogi udon which was really tasty. The fried rice has good flavor as well. The donuts were fluffy on the inside and slight crisp on the outside with a sweet dipping sauce. Everything was amazing! I know this is a chicken joint but the Bao Buns are where it's at. Specifically the Bulgogi ones. We actually ordered a second order we liked them so much. Overpriced and very mid food. Definitely not authentic Korean food. The bibimbap comes with scrambled egg (why?!) so I asked if they could instead do a fried egg. Waiter said it would be extra, I asked to please ask if it could just be substituted for me. He agreed to do it but never did, just brought the food with no scrambled egg but an oddly fried/poached egg and the extra charge for it on my receipt. The vegetables in the bibimbap were flavorless and I'm confused as to why they put shredded lettuce in it. It's giving chipotle. Kimchi was extra limp, takotaki was also just blah. I've been going to Bonchon a long time. Always love their wings (half soy garlic, half spicy). I really hate that they stopped serving the salmon ball which was incredible. We only ordered Bonchons delivery before but never went to their actual restaurant and here we are. The restaurant feels a little crowded with tables but luckily when we went, it wasn't too busy. We like the wings combo a lot, we have half and half sauce and the spicy one has a good heat to it. The salmon avocado ball is quiet a surprise. The sauce is a little over powering, but it's very common to have the unagi sauce and spicy mayo in the mid west restaurants. The salmon ball has rice crisps in it and it gives a very good crunch. It feels like a giant sushi ball without the rice. Given the overwhelming sauce, hence the four stars. We chose the Half & half Drummies (half spicy & half soy garlic)-both were excellent! The pickled white radish was a nice addition to the spiciness of the spicy drummy. The hot bowl bibimbap came out perfectly: rice sizzling on the bottom. The best part of this dish for me is the toasted rice at the bottom of the bowl! Decided to order online this afternoon and was extremely satisfied by the overall quality. The food itself was delicious and the Korean street corn was outstanding. The service was fast, and the staff was overall pleasant when I had walked in and acknowledged me. I have had Bonchon before and will continue to eat from here, but one of the things I would recommend is if you get a food item such as the tteokbokki to get rice to help get all those last bits of the sauce. When we first got here we almost left because our GPS took us to the back door and we thought they weren't open. This place is busy and there were lots of people a little after noon on Sunday. They seated us and got us water quickly. We looked over the menu and decided on potstickers with soy sauce, beef bulgogi, and chicken Korean tacos. The potstickers were very crispy and the sauce was salty and the center was perfectly cooked and tasty. The Korean tacos were messy and spicy but the slaw on top cooled them just enough. The beef bulgogi was well cooked and tasted exactly as it should. The service was good. It was clean with an adequate number of places to sit.
