Was excited when I saw that Bonchon was coming to Bensonhurst and waited a few months before finally had a chance to get some. We tried online order for pickup and it was easy to place order. We arrived 3min after the pickup time (7:03pm) on a Tuesday. There was a a slighty long wait for someone to come to the registry as the person was busy getting food for customer ahead of me (and random customer in dining area skipped to front asking for more stuff). Waited patiently and saw there was a take out bag just sitting on the counter behind registry during the entire time I waited on line. By the time it was my turn and I show them my phone of my order... they just grab the bag that was sitting there for awhile (nothing to keep it warm) and I noticed the bag receipt say it was printed at 6:58pm (so maybe only sitting out for 8-15min only) but it was warm when I got it. It was cold by the time I got home (12 drive). The packing was good and the chicken wings were bigger in size than expected (yayyy) but it was abit salty. The pickled radish tasted bland and warm (like it was freshly made but didnt pickled in time). Also, it was a small portion size compare the chicken wings given. Ordered: mixed chicken wings 12pcs in half half flavor (Soy Garlic & Korean BBQ) and Korean Street Corn. While the Korean Street Corn was delicious it didn't have alot of cheese visibly seen (or it all melted in and absorb with the corn) and it wasn't filled fully in the container. Not sure if it's worth the price. While I appreciate the chicken wings sizes, I don't think I'll return anytime soon. But I do recommend the corn and the Korean BBQ sauce flavor over the Soy Garlic. I do wish to try their other options: tteokbokki, stri dry udon, bibimbap, japchae and bulgogi so that might be a future visit one day.

Quite disappointed at this Bonchon chicken location. Should've looked at the reviews beforehand but given that Bonchon is a chain, I figured I've had good Korean fried chicken from Bonchon before so I didn't think the food would be that bad. Ordering was simple but it's very casual like a fast food place. Think McDonald's, you order your food, pick it up, eat at the open seats. There's a few promotions over the restaurant. We went for the $10 box that came with 3 drums, fries, and a Korean fried donut. The fries (Parmesan) and the drumstick (soy garlic) were extremely salty. They were salty to the point that you really could not keep consuming without chugging water every bite. We had to take off the outside of the drumsticks and just eat the inside meat as that wasn't salt. The Korean donut was not bad. It wasn't too heavy and it came with what I think is condensed milk but not sure because it was not very liquidly. It was hard to dip the donut into. I love Korean fried chicken. This didn't taste like Korean fried chicken and it's hella salty. As much as I hate wasting food, in the end we had to toss out most of the food since it was just not edible.

Every time I passed by Bonchon when it was still undergoing renovations, I would wonder when it'd finally open. And then when it did, I heard that the wait was crazy, so I let the hype die down and for the restaurant to work out its kinks before I gave it a try. It's been a long time since 86th st had a Korean restaurant, let alone a Korean fried chicken shop, so I was really rooting for it (I still am). They ran out of bone-in chicken during the daytime on a weekend (extremely shocking) so i had to settle for some boneless chicken. The texture was not it though, too soft and borderline soggy. Compared to bb.q chicken, bonchon was ranks lower. Recently, I was craving tteokbokki so I gave bonchon another try (and I will again in the future because 86th st deserves it!). I used a food app, and the tteokbokki was a whopping $18. I'm not sure how much it costs in stores, but I thought that maybe it would be a big portion. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It came in a pretty shallow rectangular container with probably 15 rice cakes, 2 fried dumplings, and some fish cakes. The flavor was spot on. The fried dumplings were too hard/over fried with a mediocre filling; I wish they swapped that with some egg or spam instead. Rice cakes were ok but could be softer/ more chewy. Fish cakes were fine. The tteokbokki at bb.q chicken is more addicting and satisfying. Thankfully, they had bone/in chicken this time. It's much better than the boneless.

Excellent service Excellent chicken, crisp and crunchy Soy garlic flavor was very good this time, not overwhelming. Many thanks to Raheem and Ryan for being super nice!

I knew there would be a long wait since this is a new restaurant in the area. However, I didn't expect it to take almost 30 minutes just to order since we were only third in line. (We were unable to order through the app for this location.) Most of the time, there was no one behind the cash register as there was only one cashier and they went to help the kitchen after each order. After we ordered the medium mixed chicken and soda and grabbed a table, we decided to order again to try the Bonchon Bites since we were already waiting and might not come back anytime soon. This was another 30 minute wait which was okay since the chicken also took 30 minutes to be ready. When the chicken was served, they forgot the side of pickled radish and soda cup, but that was an easy fix. The drumsticks were humongous - they almost looked like turkey legs. The soy garlic sauce was flavorful, but a little too salty. However, the meat itself lacked any flavor. The only redeeming quality was that the chicken was well-cooked and not dry. Also, I thought with the long wait, we would at least have fresh and piping hot fried chicken but it was cold. Unfortunately, the bao buns and Korean tacos were also a miss. The pork belly in the bao buns looked promising but it was dry and tough to chew. It did not taste fresh, almost as if it was left out the whole day. They drenched it in sauce to make up for the dryness, but it didn't help. The spicy chicken in the tacos were cold and almost nonexistent. Again, they put way too much mayo/sauce. The soft tortilla was definitely not soft and tasted stale. Although the meal was disappointing, the main reason I would not come back is actually due to the garbage smell. The trash area is right by the dining tables and although an employee would clear out the public trash bin by the soda machine, there was another area with huge garbage cans full of trash across from our dining table. The smell was very off-putting while we were waiting for the food. Even while eating, the scent of the fried chicken couldn't mask the garbage stench.

The chicken was delicious but the service was absolutely horrendous. We ended up waiting close to an hour for 2 orders of wings and drumsticks. The people in the kitchen are completely clueless and have no idea what they're doing. A complete mess..yikes! They really need to come up with a more organized way to handle orders. At one point, the cashier had to stop taking in-person orders to allow time for the kitchen to catch up with current orders. The girl up front who was supposed to be packing orders was too busy rationing the pickled radish and spicy mayo sauce...Orders seem to be prepared all out of order. Some people who ordered after us got their food before we got our's while this poor lady who was in front of us was still patiently waiting as we left. Only saving grace was the cashier who was very nice and seemed like the only person who knew what she was doing. In terms of the food, it's up to par with all the other Bon Chon chains. The chicken was super crispy and the sauces were delicious. I think the prices are reasonable for the amount of food that you get. Overall, I'm glad there's finally a Korean fried chicken spot on 86th street but really hope there's some sort of improvement in the service.

Finally Korean fried chicken in Bensonhurst! Been waiting for months! The staff was friendly and was patient while I was deciding what to get. They even showed me the different sizes in wings vs drumsticks lol However, the wait time for take out was ridiculous. I went around 3-4pm on a weekday and there was barely any customers besides me and it took me over 20 minutes just for an order of X-Large 30 pieces $43.99+ tax. Wings were alright. Not sure I would come back again due to the wait time.

We were so excited to try this since we saw so much foot traffic coming in and out. I have the say the staff member we ordered with is amazing. Such good energy, love it! But we were sooo disappointed by the food. We ordered wings, half plain and half with the Yangnyeom sauce. First we were disappointed that the chicken cost $12 for 6 pieces that were the size of my index finger, so tiny! The chicken with the Yangnyeom sauce was ok. But you can tell that the chicken had no taste. And then the plain one, we were shocked at how plain it is. We thought there would be some sort of seasoning? Salt at least but nothing. Unfortunately we won't be coming back

I was excited to see a Korean fried chicken spot open in the area, but was very underwhelmed by the food. I ordered a three meals for pick up...boneless wings (half soy garlic and yangnyeom), plus sides: seasoned fries, street corn, and radish. Fries were crunchy and seasoned well. The rest of my order was disappointing. I found the yangnyeom sauce too salty for my liking and some parts of the chicken I bit into were very soft (undercooked?). Street corn was standard. I would have preferred less sauce in mine. Radish Kimchi is usually my favorite side at any Korean establishment but theirs did not hit the mark. Not sour enough and despite ordering three meals that were supposed to come with a side of radish for each meal, I only got one container. I won't be coming again.

I got my food a lot faster than the last time I was here (about a week after it first opened). The person at the cashier was quite communicative which was nice and updated me on how long my food would take. I got the soy garlic drumsticks which were crispy and flavorful.

I came the second day after grand opening. There seating area looks empty but the were people waiting in line. I waited about 20 minutes for my mixed soy garlic mixed. There are a lot of people in the kitchen but the food comes out slow. The condiment area is full of dirty trays. The chicken was flavorful and crispy.

What a scam. If you order on Uber Eats, they charge a boatload more than in store. Store price is 22.99 for 8 drumsticks and on UE, it's 28.79, before fees or anything! Btw, the chicken itself? Super dry.. Sauce was the only redemption tho the soy garlic was definitely not garlicy enough.

Last night we decided it was time she try Korean food, and specifically he wanted to choose a Bib Gourmand restaurant. We booked this reservation the same day, and watched spots get taken as we booked on the website! Street parking wasn't hard to find and we were greeted and seated immediately. We loved the calming atmosphere inside and had a table with a view of everything. After offering us water, we decided on drinks. I ordered the Velvet Reviver, which was described as an espresso martini meets a White Russian. It was delicious and almost like a dessert drink. My boyfriend ordered The Squid & The Whale which grew on all of us, especially paired with our food. To start, we shared the Yache pajun (vegetable scallion pancakes) and the Dukboki fundido (a Mexican inspired spicy, hot, cheesy dip with my favorite chewy Korean rice cakes inside). The scallion pancakes were delicious and had much more texture than once I have tried in the past, paired with a perfect vinegary sauce you can spoon on top. We all loved the dip and it was the perfect amount of spicy and comforting chewiness. I then was recommended a white wine to pair with the appetizer I chose as my entree, the Yeoneo. Each slice of salmon was incredibly fresh, and they were very generous with the amount of row that was served as well. The greens and avocado slices were great as well to add more texture. My boyfriend then ordered a yummy beer and the Daegu jorim. We absolutely adored this dish and noted that the cod had perfect structure to it, that almost mimic that of the deliciously cooked radishes in this dish. His mother ordered the ultimate comfort dish of the night, the Kalbi jjim (with no jalapeños). We were in awe at how the meat fell apart due to how tender it was. If you like melt in your mouth beef and stew like dishes, this is the dish for you. Our food was served with some banchan: amazing kimchi, myeolchi bokkeum (dried anchovies, much more mild than you'd expect), and kongjang (soy beans, also mild and with more chew than a typical edamame you might expect). We absolutely loved our dinner here and how helpful and kind the weight staff was, explaining different dishes and flavors, and clearing and switching out our plates at every turn.

Since I was staying in Brooklyn for work, Haenyeo was an easy choice for a date night dinner. We went on a Thursday evening around 8pm. We didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately without a wait. The restaurant was fairly busy; if you're planning ahead I would consider making a reservation. We started with an order of the Japchae. Then we ordered the Bibimbop with chicken and the Bulgogi. The Japchae was underwhelming. Not a strong flavor profile, leaned sort of bland. The entrees were much better. The rice in the Bibimbop had a really yummy crispy layer. When all mixed together, it's a great melody of flavors and textures. The Bulgogi was equally enjoyable. Definitely recommend the red spicy sauce it comes with. We shared both entrees among 2 people and felt the portions sizes were decent - neither left hungry. The service was okay. We didn't seem to have a dedicated server. It felt like all the wait staff takes care of everyone simultaneously? Everyone was friendly; there was just a long wait for someone to come for our food order. If you're looking for an authentic experience with Korean food, this may be the spot for you.

Happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised! Almost everything we ordered was delicious! Both Korean Fried Chicken orders had good flavor and great for sharing. I rarely see Soy Ginger as an option (usually it's Soy Garlic) but I like the slight sharpness it added to each bite. The Seafood Pancake was crispy, loaded with seafood, and paired nicely with the ponzu. The Slow Loris Roll was incredible! The rice ratio was just right, there was a good variety of fish and it was all fresh, the avocado and sauces added nice creaminess, and torching the roll was the cherry on top. The Spicy Bulgogi Fried Rice with Cheese was super savory, the sunnyside egg was cooked perfectly, and the portion was solid. I didn't care for the cheese and honestly could've done without and not noticed. It did need something to cut through the richness. I did enjoy the Beef Galbi much more! It is brought to the table sizzling and smelling amazing. It's savory, sweet, and smoky. I like that it's paired with kimchi & rice making this is complete meal. All in all, I was impressed with everything here! We were also a large party (7 people) yet everything was served correctly and in a timely fashion. Definitely recommend stopping by!
