I dont do bad reviews often anymore (at least since Covid) because I Know how hard the industry is but sometimes gotta vent. One of the hardest things I have found living in Bensonhurst is getting any kind of good Indian food delivered, this was not it. Ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosas and a Mango Lassi. The price was huge,the portions were tiny so right off the bat not a great value. Tikka was a few small chunks of chicken in a very sweet,kinda cloying sauce with very little flavor or complexity. The Naan bread was way too doughy The Samosa....lets be honest its hard to mess up something as simply good as a samosa but this one was way too salty and instead of including any kind of imnt,tamarind or chutney sauce they gave me 2 packets of ketchup! not even good ketchup it was that cheap "chefs choice" brand! The Lassi was pretty good and the only reason they get a second star. Never again read more

I don't leave poor reviews often, but this place was quite a letdown. I came here for takeout on a Saturday night and called for my order in advance. I was super unsatisfied once I got my order and tried to pay: 1. The entree is served in SUPER small serving sizes and a total miss on taste. There is really not a ton of sauce or meat. The butter chicken sauce was good, but the chicken was so dry and unpleasant to eat and several pieces were left uneaten. The cauliflower appetizer is also like six pieces of small cauliflower, which were soggy in the center. (The exception on taste of the food was the Karahi lamb, which was really flavorful and meat was cooked well. I also won't neglect to mention that they did provide a small bit of free rice pudding.) 2. The menu outside the store advertised a promotion where you get 10% off for ordering via phone. Guy at the store gave us a really hard time about it and then said it applied only to cash, which isn't specified anywhere. Definitely feels like they're making up the rules as they go, and that left a bad taste... Fair that not all places will be a hit, and I was really disappointed that this particular dinner spot with friends was a miss. read more

Came here on a Thursday evening and was blown away. Started off with samosas, which were delicious and not greasy. For our entrees, we shared the chicken curry and Chana masala, which were again delicious and flavorful! Cannot go wrong with some garlic naan on the side. The mango lassi was refreshing and although we were stuffed, we finished our meal with a wonderful rice pudding. The staff were so friendly and attentive, we will definitely be back! read more

Randomly stopped by this spot which I would say is pretty good. Went during lunch time so be sure to check out their lunch specials. We got chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka. I asked for the chicken tikka to be spicy but I found it to be more sweet. We also ordered wings which did not seem "Indian" at all. I be ordered the lamb vindaloo and it did not disappoint! It was spicy and flavorful. The last few places seem to be decreasing the spice on their vindaloos, but not here. Their pickled onions were amazing. We asked where we could buy that and Mohammed offered us some to take home! He said he makes it for the restaurant. The service was excellent. He suggested a naan to dip into the rest of the vindaloo sauce as well as comping us a refreshing cool dessert. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes you feel welcome. It is good to see small businesses operate during these difficult times (Covid19) and Bombay Grill succeeds at this. I called in for an order and within 25 minutes, it was ready for pickup. The food was still piping hot when I got it home. Chicken Saag; 7/10 - I am more accustomed to a spicier and thicker Saag but the way it is made here is very sweet and liquidity. I am not sure if that is their own personal style but it is interesting. There is a very mild nutty taste but the hint of spices is quite lacking here. The chicken was also very scare considering this is a $10.00+ order. Chicken Tikki Masala; 9/10 - This was probably my favorite dish I ordered. It is extremely creamy yet retaining the integrity of the spices. The sauce was perfect over rice or used as a dip for the naan I ordered. They were oddly not scarce with the chicken on this dish. Chicken Vindaloo; 8/10 - Fantastic vindaloo dish with a good amount of heat. The spicy level is probably somewhere between a serrano pepper and cayenne pepper, so be careful you folks out there with the spice tolerance level of a toddler! Garlic Naan & Regular Naan - Not much to say other than the garlic on the garlic naan was overtly burnt, which expels the natural garlic flavors. The regular naan was regular. Free Rice Pudding - Free rice pudding is always a win. It was in a 3 scoop container. Pleasant surprise. read more

Did you say "naan" or "nah"? One could be easily confused by the two, but I'm more of a "hellz yas!" kind of a girl whenever the question of more naan comes up. Bombay Grill has several different options when it comes to your naan selection, so make sure you make room. We have ordered take out several times, and they are actually able to recognize my voice when I call now. That's a good thing, because usually that means our order comes pretty quickly, considering Indian food could take some time. This is a great go-to option for us whenever we are entertaining friends for a game night, or when we have unexpected company. It's tasty, reliable, consistent, and delicious. One star was removed because I can't seem to quite understand as to why they don't upgrade their take-out containers, since every time they deliver, at least one or two plastic lids have melted and created a crack at the top of the chicken tikka masala, or other hot curry dish. One time, the lid cracked and sauce leaked all over the inside of the bag, making it a little messed to clean up prior to serving and dishing out. I didn't bother to complain, because I'm sure I'm not the only one. Get better containers, please. Save the tikka masala sauce. I am writing this review after my second attempt at ordering delivery from this restaurant. The first time, I ordered their Daily Special and ordered: Samosas: came filled with corn and peas. I am not used to this from any restaurant I have ever been too and it was not something I was expecting or liked. Chicken Curry: came served in a thick gravy. I asked for it to come spicy, and the restaurant did deliver in spice level, but it was just like they poured chili powder in the gravy. It was almost a dark red color (curry is typically a brown or orangey color) and just tasted like chili powder. I ended up discarding the entire meal and just eating the rice and naan. This time, months later, I was craving Indian and decided to order again, but this time completely different items: chicken biryani, kheer, paratha and mango lassi. The delivery took over an hour and the food arrived cold. The bread, lassi and kheer were all tasty. The biryani however had that same chili powder taste (perhaps due to my spicy request again). I really want to give this restaurant points for their kind reception when I called to inquire about my delivery and the way the food was carefully packed and presented. 6 small containers with varying chutneys and raita were included which was a nice touch (raita and kheer were excellent). I have never been to the restaurant so I cannot comment on waiter service or attentiveness, unfortunately. read more

I stopped by Bombay Grill on a 1pm on a Tuesday to grab a quick bite to eat. When I arrived, it was just me and a couple who appeared to be regulars at Bombay Grill. During this time, they definitely do more take-out orders. The interior seems like a place trying hard to be classy but failing. The pink theme is a shade that can get tacky (like commercial Valentine's Day). Saag is my favorite Indian dish so I had to order a chicken saag ($10.95). While I was waiting for my food, they brought complimentary papadum with the trio of sauces. As others have mentioned, the serving sizes are on the smaller side. If you're hungry, you probably need to fill up on the rice. The saag was unique. All of the other times I've have saag in my life, I can tell that I'm eating a spinach puree. This saag was on the liquidy side (i.e. no chunks of spinach) and the flavor was nothing like I've tasted before. Luckily, I'm a big curry fan so there are very few flavors I won't eat. That being said, I don't think I'd order it again. Chicken here also is a tad on the drier side. However, that doesn't matter as much since it's in curry. The man running the front of the house provided me with excellent service (hence the 4 stars instead of 3). I'm not exaggerating when I say he treated me like a VIP. He did multiple check-backs, refilled my water, and gave me a complimentary dessert (saffron rice pudding). He was the sweetest! I felt welcome at Bombay Grill and would go back to review their other dishes. read more

This place had quite a few misses & honestly for this price point, I expected so much more. As mentioned this place was overpriced for the quality you get. I ordered the chicken tikka briyani which seemed like an interesting combination. However, the chicken was so dry and the briyani was so bland. Perhaps if you stick to a more traditional briyani selection, you will find it more tasteful. This version just is bland & not particularly tasty. The garlic Naan bread was another disappointment, it lacked garlic to begin with. It's like they skimp on some of the ingredients & they just end up being bland. I will say though that the sweets & sauces were the best part of the meal. Even the complimentary rice pudding they offered. I don't know that I'll order take out from here anymore perhaps I'll try dine in at some point. For now, I'm not sure I'd recommend this place. read more

The food here is good. Why three stars? My dine-in experience was less than satisfactory. We waited over 50 minutes for our entrees. Our appetizers came at a decent time, but then we just sat there for the longest time. Please do yourselves a favor and get take out instead. So many delivery guys came in and got their food before we even gotten our entrees. The food is good, but we lost our appetite and got the rest to go. Not sure if they prioritize take out/delivery platforms than in-person customers, but my boyfriend and I left feeling like we wasted our time. I would suggest passing on the mango curry - there was probably only 5-6 small cubes of mango in the curry sauce. It added absolutely nothing to the taste, so get some other curry and save the extra cost for the mango. I would also pass on the garlic naan - where was the garlic flavor? Their biriyani is great tho. Nice waiters and will probably dine-in again in the future to see if there has been improvements, and will update my review. read more

I've heard good things about Bombay Grill and decided to come here in Winter of 2018. It was the perfect time of the year to have Indian food. These are some of the things we ordered: Bombay Liver (chicken liver sautéed with herbs and spices served with poori) - I am not a fan of liver at all, but my friend wanted to try this out. I still wasn't a fan after trying it. Chicken Samosas (seasoned minced chicken and green peas) - this was one of the appetizers we got. I've had samosas before and I loved it. Chicken Biryani - this has became my "go-to" dish when I'm having Indian food. I thought this version was "just okay". It was quite visually pleasing, but it did smell good and aromatic. Chicken Tikka Masala - this is a MUST Have at any Indian restaurant. A friend ordered this for their entree and it was quite delicious. Chicken was very tender. At the end of our meal, we received a complimentary rice pudding dessert which was creamy and delicious! Overall, I'm glad I tried this restaurant because many of my friends were talking about it. Would I return again? 50/50 maybe if I don't want to travel to Manhattan for Indian food then sure. read more

Also, the Aloo Matar Gobi was swimming in gravy. That's supposed to be a drier dish, not a soup. The butter chicken and chicken masala really did look like it was made with food coloring. I've never seen them so BRIGHT before, color-wise. It literally looks like a shade of pepto bismol (very artificial looking). Both lacked any flavor, and lacked spices. Did not taste authentic AT ALL. TLDR, tasted fake. I'm not even sure if there was any seasoning to begin with. Everything was bland. We also asked for cheese naan, only to get plain naan. No cheese. Not even exaggerating. You're better off getting chicken over rice at your local halal cart than eating from here. At least the former is flavorful, authentic, and you can actually taste the spices. There was no wait for dinner and only a few tables were seated. Most of the orders were for take out. We were ready to order and the server thought I was just asking questions about the menu at first because he didn't have the menu pad. He went and got it after he realized we were ready to order. We got the garlic naan, tika naan, and keema naan, goat curry, lamb curry, sizzling meat appetizer, vegetarian samosa, meat samosa, Gobi Manchurian, and a lentil soup and a mango lassi. The samosas were whatever and didn't really have any flavor. The gobi just tasted like sweet and sour (mostly sour) limp cauliflower. the sizzling meat sampler was really good but there was only 1 of each meat so 5 pieces in total. The lentil soup just tasted like tomato soup which was a disappointment because the description said it had spices. Our entrees took forever and we waited a good 20-30 minutes and had to ask if they forgot about our entrees. It might have just been that they had a lot of take out orders to cook. The lamb curry was good and the goat curry only tasted spicy so it was another one dimensional flavor again. The garlic naan was fine but I would have liked more garlic flavor. The Tikka and keema naan just tasted like bread even though they had meat inside. Mango lassi is good. We got the coconut and mango ice cream. The coconut ice cream was really good and had coconut flakes in it. The mango ice cream tasted like mango nectar so it's fine. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place. Upon entrance, I was warmly greeted and appreciated the charming décor.Dining solo (also, no other patrons at the restaurant) , I took the table near the window as I people watched and enjoyed the sunshine. I wanted to keep my selections light and healthy (however, I left stuffed) and my meal was the following: Papadam (two crisp pieces) accompanied by the trifecta of condiments I've loved forever --cilantro, tamarind and the spicy, raw onions. This was on the house. It typically is at most restaurants. Mushroom soup: wow factor alert. A lentil based soup loaded with chunky mushrooms and slivered fresh ginger. Sprinkled with cilantro leaves and topped with fried onions!. Amazing. Grilled vegetable platter: from the appetizer section ( again, trying to be healthy)--sizzling, perfectly charred broccoli, carrots, green bell pepper, white onions, cauliflower and one lone piece of tofu. This was to die for. It was served to my table still sizzling; I detected a yogurt coating which enhanced the grilled taste tenfold. Really good. Finally, saffron rice pudding--on the house given by the friendly manager, Naz. Their food was amazing and I'm very much looking forward to returning for dinner. We sat for probably 10-15 minutes waiting for our 6th friend and in that time, the waiter came over twice already asking us what we wanted to order for appetizers.-_- we told him TWICE we were still waiting or browsing the menu. Then we started discussing who else wanted to get a mango lassi and before we even finished deciding the waiter says "so 5 mango lassis"...-_- ..nooooo, NOT EVERYONE mentioned they wanted a mango lassi. Anyway, we told him just 4 cups. Mango lassi tasted good btw. Creamy and sweet. So finally the 6th friend comes and we order our food. We told the waiter 3 orders of garlic naan, an appetizer and several entrees. When the waiter reviewed our order, he says "6 garlic naan..." WTF...this guy is really pushing it. So we tell him no just 3, and then he's still pushing for each of us to get our own order of naan, and we finally decided to get 4 pieces. When the garlic naan came, each piece was huge. Good thing we didn't order 6 pieces. We didn't even end up finishing all 4 pieces and took the last piece to go. Flavor wise it was decent. I would've preferred a lot more garlic and perhaps butter would also have made it taste better. We had some kind of chickpea dip appetizer and it was good. Whole red snapper- looked good but taste was somewhat disappointing. I can't really describe it but it was just weird. Spicy paneer masala entree was tasty. Probably the best dish we had all night. Sauce had a nice kick to it. Chicken Masala was just alright. Chicken was somewhat dry even tho it's drenched in sauce. Seafood bhiriyani was pretty good. Goa shrimp curry was tasty. It's coconut flavored. I've never really been to Indian restaurants in the US much but, I just came back from a trip to India so my taste buds have been conditioned. In terms of flavor, restaurant is decent and I would rate it 3.5 stars. However, the pushy waiter was nice and annoying at the same time. That is not the best attitude to have with clients that are read during and generally during this times of pandemic I assumed business wanted to be more accommodating. And I'm looking for another Indian place until I find one with same kind of food I'll come here but once I do based on my experience with inflexibility there is no reason why to stay. The aroma of warm spices and curry when you walk into the restaurant, I know I'm going take that smell home with me. The dining area looks romantic, from the fresh roses on the table, to the lighting. They offer a daily special 24/7. For $14.95, you get an appetizer, an entree, naan, and rice. I gotta tell you guys, it was alot of food for me, and yes, I'll admit it....I usually eat big portions. I chose the Alu Tikiyas for the appetizer part of my daily special. Never had this before and it's actually a potato cake made with chutney and chickpeas. Wasn't bad, crispy on the outside and creamy inside. All the sauces paired really well with them, sweet tamarind sauce and this spicy green one that's similar to a chili sauce. The naan is soft and fluffy, I dipped it in every single condiment they included with the entree and the appetizer. Among all the sauces on the table, mango chutney was my favorite. For the entree I went for the Chicken Tikki Masala, my to go at any Indian joint. Beautiful orange red color, creamy, sweet, and tangy, just like how it should be and it is the best tikki masala I've had. There was more than enough sauce to pour over all the rice and sopping my entire naan in. I think I've found my new joint for Indian food, but the hunt is still on. read more
