The best halal food in all of New York. I wish other NYers could savor this deliciousness. If only they could be in other locations besides Bay Ridge. Highly recommend the mix Gyro. It's the best sandwich in NY. I've tried this combination at other Halal carts and it never compares this place. Their lamb is seasoned much different than any other halal cart. It's not as salty and the meat has a nice bounce to it. Chicken is fantastic too. The seasoning is more middle eastern style than the curry flavor seasoning you might get at other places. I had really fond memories of this halal cart, but I came to grab food recently and it didn't quite live up to my expectations & memories! I got my usual chicken over rice, & ordered a combo for my boyfriend. Total came out to $21 with 2 sodas. Overall, we agreed that it was quite bland, and definitely needed a lot more white sauce than was on there (and there was already a good amount!!). One of the best Halal carts I've ever been to! I can't say that this is the best Halal cart in Brooklyn since I haven't been to many in the borough, but I have been to many in the city and they are definitely up there in terms of quality and one of my favorites! The cart is open during late hours, as well as day hours. There is never really a long line here, but it can take 6-8 minutes to leave with your order because they tend to take their time making each order. Most of the platters (chicken, lamb, combination) are $6. The typical carb added to the platters is yellow rice, but this cart ALSO offers spicy rice, which I've only seen at one other cart in all of NYC! I usually get the combination (chicken + lamb) over spicy rice with white sauce and hot sauce. The meats they put in the platter are very fresh and the serving sizes are just right, not too little and not too much. I tend to have a big appetite and if this fills me up then the chances are that it'll fill anyone up! There is one small complaint that I can nitpick about and that is they don't add enough tomatoes to each order (by default). I've seen them prepare the boxes and they usually grab about 4-6 little pieces of tomatoes only. The good thing though is that you can always request for them to add extra, which I've seen them do, but I'd prefer them to make sure there's a good balance of ingredients in each order without me asking for extra anything. This is the best spot to come to late night. Me and my boyfriend mostly hang out in the night, and often after 12pm, most of the places to eat are closed, except this halal food truck. Everything about the food is just perfect. You have a choice between regular rice or spicy rice. You have a choice between 4 sauces for your food, white sauce, hot sauce, bbq sauce, and their special green sauce. Every time i go, i order mix over spicy rice with white and green sauce and hot on the side. I warn you, the hot sauce is very spicy but yet so delicious. One of the workers inside the truck does tend to curse a lot, but don't take it personally. He does it to ensure you are enjoying your wait. Him cursing is what makes the experience more fun, he definitely makes you laugh. The line to this halal truck often gets long, so i hope you are patient enough to wait in line as they only take care of one customer at a time. For me the wait is always worth it, no matter what. As far as taste, although they are on par with The Halal Guys in Manhattan, having them there sure offsets the price of making the trek to midtown or even Union Square for chicken and rice. I walk up and he already knows what I want. I've eaten halal all over the brooklyn and Manhattan and this is literally the best food truck you can find. There so good I see NYPD Highway patrol come from Staten Island just to see Afif. There's a right turn lane that acts as a parking lot for the customers. And the cops do not bother anyone. Too bad - this was a real disappointment. After ordering (there was one person in front of us), we waited a sum total of 19 minutes for 2 hot dogs, fries and 2 platters. That's a REALLY long time compared to your average halal cart and an eon if you are waiting with hungry children. I'm giving it 2 stars because the fries were freshly fried and thus tasty (albeit a bit bland because they managed to neglect to salt them after they were fried, a serious omission), but the rest was pretty darn awful. When I get a lamb gyro, I want those thinly sliced, juicy pieces that feel like mystery meat but taste ridiculously good. Not sure why, but this place chopped the meat up like ground beef after cooking it, and it was a total disappointment that they did. It just didn't work, all the juices were gone and the texture was gross. The chicken was no better. About an hour after we ate, we felt really bloated and nauseated.
