Service atrocious. By Bojangles standard it's already subpar, Durham has many better locations with better more IP on brand taste and frankly better franchise partners. But service here?- is vomit trash level even by Hillsborough standards. One of the cleaning staff literally yelled (yes, yelled) at me for a changing to eat at another table. I got food poisoning. I knew when bojangles started doing breakfast all day it wouldn't be fresh. So one morning around 9:45am, Bojangles on hwy 55 in Durham, I stop by to get a bacon egg and cheese biscuit combo. I went inside the store and of course they are to lazy to make them fresh, I see multiple rows of breakfast biscuits. it wasn't hot it was warm from sitting under the light. 5 hours after eating I started throwing up, I was at work so I left work early got home and couldn't even walk myself in the house. First time here. Cashier not very helpful when inquiring on menu items. I couldn't find my side options on the menu which seemed to disturb the cashier. When I asked him which were my side options, his response was, "it's on the menu." Then I had to tell him that I could not find it on the menu board of which he seemed annoyed. "Fast food: Southern-style fried chicken, biscuits, SWEET tea, and more" Been coming to this location for literally over a decade now. Chicken is always good, though I confess I've grown to prefer the taste of the chicken at some of the competitors now (e.g., Chick-Fil-A). The biscuits are VERY good but also really, really buttery... the butter seeps through the wrappers enough to leave a mark on the tables. Choice of sides with combos-- fries, "bo rounds" (tater tots), cole slaw (vinegar-based here), etc. Fried items tend to be quite greasy-- enough to make me feel somewhat unwell later, so good to not get "only" fried things here. And every meal comes with free sweet tea that's sweet enough to give you anaphylactic shock if you're not from the south. There's also a dispenser so you can refill your sweet tea for free in the dining area. Staff are friendly, and will often take away & dispose of your trash. Chicken biscuit is a staple here, though-- there's always a line waiting to get some of those for breakfast. Probably the best bet. read more

I went in for dinner. It started off with the manager hollering to get help up at the register multiple times. Then when asked to get a refill on the tea the young girl Shenka gave me attitude about asking. I told her the lobby was out otherwise I wouldn't have bothered her. I also asked for sauce and jelly for our meal and she couldn't understand after asking 3 times. The dirty rice was very drippy in water. Overall not a good experience. This place needs better management at night and better customer service. There were several other customers frustrated or asking for their money back. Man some of the people on this page need their heads examined for being stingy with the stars. I've eaten at BoJ's up and down I-85, and all around the Triangle and the rest of NC, and this is consistently the best. Super flaky biscuits that taste like heaven. I contrast these to some of the Upstate Bojangles in SC where it tastes like they're cutting corners. Even when I come during off hours the chicken filets and bone-in pieces are never dry at my local Bojangles ! Not all franchises are equal, and you can tell this location does right. In the mornings you see families, workmen, businessmen and police eating here. I've been eating here since the 1980s, and I'm happy to bring my dad here as part of our breakfast rotation. Ok, so I thought I had ruled out pretty much all fast-food chain junk-food in my life, and then I met Bojangles. This place will give you diarrhea straight up, but it will somehow be worth it. People swear by their 'famous fried chicken' but I'm actually a fan of their bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. The egg on this thing is somehow juicy, fresh, gooey, and doesn't taste anything like the foam egg you find at neighboring McDonald's. If you want to try something sweet, try their Bo'Berry Biscuit which no, does not have anything resembling a blueberry in it, (those blue dots are made of some very unnatural goodness) but it has the perfect ratio of crunch on the outside and chewiness on the inside. Drizzled with vanilla frosting, this is a biscuit like no other. Luckily I no longer live in NC, so I make sure to limit myself to this diet only once or twice a year, but when I do, it is a luscious indulgence. *TIP* say you want to wait for a fresh batch of biscuits, at least for the bo'berry biscuits, and you will get a much hotter, crispier result. read more

I haven't noticed a huge difference between any of the Bojangles in Durham but look- this is a simple formula. You take some chicken, bread it and deep fry it and knock it back. Done deal. I mostly stick to the Chicken Biscuit and it seems just as good to me as any other place around, though I haven't tried any of these gourmet places. It is better than Chick-Fil-A (the biscuits, NOT the sandwich), Hardees and probably as good as Sunrise. After many years of being away, I was back in the Carolinas for a long weekend. A big group of friends and I went out seeking Southern staples, and Bojangles is one of them! The fried chicken was spot on, with a hint of heat cooked right into the crispy skin. The meat was really juicy and tender. The biscuits were fluffy and buttery. The fries were hearty and delicious. I have been coming to this location for the last few years whenever I needed something quick. The drive-thru is generally pretty quick and on most occasions, the food comes out the same as you would get at most other Bojangles in the chain. In the several times of coming here, I did get one piece of chicken that was under-cooked, but other than that, I have not had any other incidents. Bojangles is great. If you haven't tried it yet you definitely need to soon. This Bojangles location is also great because it's open later than most others I'm used to. Most Bojangles close at 9pm but I've been to this location as late at 11pm. I don't particularly prefer their fried chicken or mashed potatoes but I love their breakfast menu. There is always a long line inside and at the drive through every morning at any Bojangles location. Bojangles is also great about having items on special for a few weeks. They do things like chicken supreme dinner for $5 or two country ham biscuits for $3. It varies by location but I've seen it done at very location I've been to. They also serve bo rounds all day. If you order them after regular breakfast hours you have to wait for 5 minutes but it's worth it! read more

Bojangles is a NC staple! Great for hangovers and fast comfort. Love the sweet tea. Here is a real piece of inside information, ask for your biscuits "dark brown". It's not a special hassle that is going to piss of the staff, there is a button on the register for it. I learned about it form a close friends grandmother. You will get a slightly thinner, more golden brown, biscuit. In my opinion it is much better than the doughy biscuit you may get otherwise. read more

After a year of boasting to my wife about Bojangles and how it's as good as Popeyes, I finally had the opportunity to take her to one here in Durham. She....and I, were disappointed. Staff was friendly and place was clean, it was the chicken. The chicken was "too" greasy and the crust was separated from the soggy greasy skin underneath. The sides were ok. I feel like I am compelled to write this. When I was a kid I tried my first Bojangles Cajun sandwich and I never tasted anything in my life like it. I was shocked at how amazing the sandwich was, I literally began to crave them and would always have to get at least two every time I went. But something happened, as the years passed so did the quality of the sandwich. I was devastated and just needed to find the sandwich I once had again. The sandwich has changed over the years, now I notice Bojangles puts a single slice of lettuce on it which seems to be flimsy not crispy or fresh but instead with a rubbery touch and actually hard to tear. I would always just throw the lettuce away and bite into the over cooked chicken and just try to forget about the sandwich it use to be. I have traveled from state to state in search of my childhood Cajun chicken sandwich. I usually just choose between the different Bojangles in my area hoping one day I would find the sandwich again. I never truly gave up hope but tonight on December 20th 2015, this date will forever live with me as I came across the closest quality that once was my childhood Cajun sandwich. I opened the wrapper of the Cajun sandwich and the first thing I noticed was shredded GREEN lettuce! My eyes grew so big as it has been years since I have seen this sandwich with not only shredded lettuce but it was really green and amazingly fresh. I then took a look at the bun and noticed that it too was extremely fresh. The bun had no grease or anything on it I just went in shock and found myself not being able to breath. I took a bite and the chicken was not overcooked it was almost perfect! I say almost because some of the fried chicken but not much was crunchy when I prefer it to be moist. A tear rolled down my cheek and I stood up and I yelled to everybody "this is a good damn sandwich!" I told everyone how amazingly fresh it was. I tried to hold back all of my tears but I ate it slow to savor it and I kid you not the second sandwich was seriously just as good. I feel like my life is fulfilled now. Thank you Bojangles this truly means a lot. I gave this Bojangles only three stars because this is only the first time I have had a sandwich from there with such quality.
