The sauces they have at the tables are great too. Garlic soy is my favorite. This Boiling Point is a concept store. Thus, there is something different than other locations. The meat is high grades cut meat, it is so fresh and tasty. The meat won't stick together which is perfect for hot soup. Almost all ingredients that they are using in your hot soup is oraganic, which is healthier and fresher than other place. Every time I wanted to eat here the wait was way too long. Creeping on a Sunday night with the wifey and boy and saw there was only 1 party waiting. Put our name down and we were in pretty quick. The first thing I didn't like and almost caused me to not want to eat there was the smell of the fuel source used to light up your hot pot. Glad I overlooked that as you get use to the smell and once your own hot pot shows up, that's all you smell. I went with the Angus pot with extra angus. It showed up and looked delicious. Usually I can be kind of picky if I can't identify what something is in my soup, and won't want to eat it. Once the soup was boiling I had our waiter kill the flame. The beef was so yummy and the broth so flavorful that I was trying everything I came across. I killed almost the entire pot... it was that good! I wanted to try something that wasn't shabu shabu and was recommended this place by a friend. I was quite impressed at how good this place was and the service made the experience even better. We stopped here for dinner and since it was our first time, we didn't know the drill which was writing down your name on the waiting list clipboard attached to the window from inside. Tony, a worker, greeted us as we walked in and took down our name on the wait list. It took about 20 minutes before we were seated. The door and seating area was kind of separated by big pictures of the menu so by the time we sat down, we already knew what we were going to order. What we ordered: Taiwanese Spicy (x2) Korean Bean Paste Lamb The Taiwanese Spicy only comes in spice level "flaming" and includes cabbage, instant noodles, maitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, tofu, fried tofu skin, fish ball, cuttle fish ring, sliced angus beef, tempura, pork blood rice cake, clam, cilantro, and green onions. I really liked the broth. It was the perfect amount of spicy but I can usually handle a lot of spice. To compare the spice level, its probably the spice level of eating a raw jalapeno compared to a thai chili pepper. So it wasn't flaming hot for me but it had a kick to it. If you can eat raw thai chili pepper by itself, then this would be a perfect spice. Korean Bean Paste, you can pick your spice level, includes lobster fish balls, enoki mushrooms, rice cake, fish tofu, kimchi, pork belly, green zucchini, bean sprouts, wok noodles, tempura, fish fillet, seaweed and of course bean paste. It was light and very flavorful. Lamb included vermicelli noodles, enoki mushroom, pork blood rice cake, maitake mushroom, tofu, fried tofu skin, tempura, raw egg yolk, imitation crab, sliced lamb, napa, pickled mustard greens, cilantro, and green onion. The broth, in the boyfriends words, "It was the bomb diggity dawwwg!!" Haha. The only other thing he said about this one was that he wish they gave more lamb meat because he saw how much beef I had in my Taiwanese spicy hot pot. The menu does indicate that the ingredients vary by season. You can also choose to upgrade your order with additional meat, veggies, meatballs, etc.. I would choose this over shabu shabu all day everyday. They have street parking and nearby ramps that ranges from $3 to $10 max. The staff were all so friendly and as I mentioned earlier, attentive. When the pot came, the server tried to light up my pot the first time but it didn't light up and she just walked away...I had to call her back to relight it... she did and it sill wasn't lighted and she walked away again. Another server came to help me for that . The server told us that they run out of boba. However when they give us the bill it still charged for the boba. .....Had to tell the server to cross it out . The drink didn't come until we finished our pots ...and we have to ask the server twice to give us the drink. We understand it was pretty late and the store was going close. The service was friendly and great but I noticed the prices were more expensive than regular BP stores for the same size pot. For some reason they also charged extra for vermicelli when the regular stores offer you a choice of rice or vermicelli. So this is a concept store which means that they have different hot pots here (although honestly, it's similar enough to the original) and you can customize your hot pots! You can get a larger size (at regular locations there are only certain hot pots that come in a larger pot), and also get different add ons like brown rice. It's also MORE EXPENSIVE than the regular locations -around $3-4 dollars more. They said it's because they use better ingredients so you get what you pay for. FOOD: I got the classic which is equivalent to the house special- they honestly taste the same except this location has regular tofu instead of the fermented tofu so I LOVED THAT. The white rice was so mushy though so thumbs down for that. I won't dock them too much for that though because making rice can be hit or miss at any place. DRINK: I got the green tea that is equivalent to the green tea. It was...okay. I still prefer the green tea at the regular locations. The one here tasted bland, but maybe it's because this location is "healthier" so they use less sugar or whatever. BUT ANYWAYS- I wouldn't mind going back BUT if there was a concept location and a regular location next to each other, you know where I would go lol. Parking on the street sucks but there's a lot right across the street so that makes life a bit easier. We came on a weekday at around 6pm and was seated right away for a party of 5. Perhaps 20 minutes later the restaurant started to get filled and a line was forming. I've heard so much about Boiling Point via word of mouth that I had to check it out. I got the tomato lovers pot and the broth is on point - actually all their broths is on point. I especially liked my friend's Angus beef broth, that was very delicious. BP! Why did it take me so long to realize that there was a boiling point so close by?! When I walked past it I couldn't believe it. There it was my favorite hot pot restaurant and it was so close by. I originally was a regular at the Boiling Point in Artesia and I loved it so much. When I walked into this location for the first time I saw someone very familiar that greeted me. It was JEREL! He originally worked at the Artesia restaurant when I use to go. Jerel was as always super friendly and extremely helpful in explaining the difference between all of the location menus. He explained that some locations don't sell the famous fermented tofu and that this specific location had the tomato delight pot that wasn't available in other restaurants. He also informed me that this location was a little unique because of the partnership with the business next door Jin Tea. For those of you that don't know you can ask for the water pitcher if a small cup of water is not sufficient for you. The food is amazing in flavor and not heavy in any way. The broth is mild but flavorful and you could choose the amount of spiciness. They have different add-ons like a raw egg or even Wok noodles. The dipping sauce is at every table and is a must to enhance the flavor of every bite. This specific location also offers a slice of cheese to add on top of your boiling hot pot that melts into the protein and veggies. The broth was flavorful yet...their mild version seems spicy for me. Good thing I didn't get the medium which was my first choice. I was never a fan of boiling hot soup in front of me on a consistently lit fire. Maybe I'm traumatized from the two times I had shabu and hotpot and my mouth was on fire. This was an interesting experience and allows you to get creative. I don't think theres a wrong way to eat this but we asked regardless and how to eat from your pot is part of the fun. On the table there are 3 spicy sauces and they tell u how to mix them, you dip your ingredients in the sauce and then eat it with your rice or broth ( the soup broth mild was delicious) . They have 12 pots to choose from with generous and perfectly filling portions with a variety of ingredients. Don't even bother asking for substitutions cause it won't happen. It is a small space with boiling hot pots on a tight table = steam! lots of steam and scalding hot ingredients. We ventured through the whole boiling point experience and within minutes we happily asked to have our pots turned off. Five minutes of a boiling hot pot is more than enough, the food inside comes already cooked. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I would definitely recommend an upgrade. So when I was in the area, noticed that there was a Boiling Point with no line - I was conflicted, was it good news (no line) or was it bad news (quality is not that great so that's why there's no line)? I wasn't sure whether it was going to be a five alarm attack on the taste buds - so I went to Ralph's before hand and got some milk - in case it was a five alarm situation and needed something to neutralize the capsaicin for my Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot order. As it turned out, the milk was not needed. The dish was spicy but not unbearable. Flavorful angus beef, good amounts of vegetables (cabbage, enoki mushrooms), as well as other ingredients (pork intestine, clam, fishball, blood rice cake). I brought a friend here last night who's never had Taiwanese hot pot. Fortunately, the stinky tofu and pig intestine didn't deter him from ordering. I've been to other BP locations before, but this one had a very comfortable ambience to it. To the more important part, I got the BP house special, which essentially comes with sliced pork, tofu, enoki mushrooms, intestine, meat balls, veggies, and the signature branded fish cake. My buddy got the Angus Beef, which was also delicious. We both ordered additional meat. The ingredients all tasted pretty fresh. The broth is soothing also. The service here is awesome. Our server Justyce was very helpful and always asked us how everything was tasting, whether we needed more fire or soup, etc. The staff was also kind enough to provide change for the parking meters when I needed a little extra time to satisfy my gluttony. read more
