#10 Rose Milky Hot Soup and #9 Japanese Miso Hot Soup with garlic pork appetizer
    Sarah Y.

Boiling Point is always amazing and never disappoints. Their Rose Milky hot soup is my new go-to -- it's rich, comforting, and perfect when you want something a little different. I also love their Beef and Japanese Miso soups, which have been longtime favorites. We also love their garlic pork appetizer! It's especially perfect on a cold, rainy day -- nothing beats having a hot, bubbling pot in front of you. One tip: make sure to go ahead of time and put your name down on their tablet, especially on weekends, because it can get busy. Overall, consistently great food and definitely a spot I keep coming back to!

They had a free tomato beef topping with rice for Lunar New Year, which was a nice touch. I got the Spicy Szechuan bowl and it is actually spicy. Not fake spicy. It hurts. If you don't have a high tolerance, be careful. Flavor was great though, bold, numbing, and satisfying. Milk teas were bland and forgettable. Service Very transactional. Not rude, just straight to the point. Ambiance Casual, functional hot pot spot. Good for a quick, fiery meal.

Always a solid spot when I'm craving hot soup. I ordered the beef soup (mild) with extra beef and it hit the spot. I always ask for less cabbage because sometimes they load it up and there's barely any meat -- especially if you're paying for extra beef. Their garlic sauce is so good and perfect for dipping the skin tofu (which I always order extra). The broth itself is flavorful and comforting every time. The only downside is the service. The workers aren't very friendly and don't really greet or check up on customers. We usually have to raise our hands just to get noticed if we need something. It doesn't ruin the food, but it definitely affects the overall experience. Would still come back for the soup though.

Love the fact they have individual pots and let you order drinks from Jin Tea Shop next door! Their pots are a little pricey, but honestly do make sense for the fact they are individual pots. They are also secretly big in my opinion. Would go back!

Garlic Pork Belly and Assam Oolong tea

This is my favorite Boiling Point in the SGV. Before COVID, there was always a long line, but nowadays it's not as bad. I used to really love coming here for their brown rice, which was more like a mixed-grain rice to me. Unfortunately, they got rid of it some time ago, which was a bummer. This Boiling Point is probably the smallest location you'll find. The tables are very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit here--you're only about half an arm's length away from the next table. It definitely feels cramped inside. I came here with a friend to take advantage of a deal where you get a free drink and appetizer for completing a survey at the end of the meal. However, the deal was limited to one use per table. We ordered our hot pots, a pork belly in garlic sauce as the appetizer, and an Assam oolong tea. Because the table was so small, fitting everything we ordered felt like a game of Tetris. The tea at 50% sweetness tasted a bit light. The garlic pork belly, however, was actually good, and the hot pots were tasty as usual. The staff members were patient in answering my questions about the deal and were generally attentive to our needs. Parking is usually easy, as there's a parking lot across the street about half a block away. Because of its proximity to my home and the quality of the food, I tend to overlook the space issue and continue coming back to this Boiling Point.

What We Ordered: #4 Beef Hot Pot $22.73 This is our go-to order at Boiling Point. I wasn't in the mood, but my wife always wants it. Happy wife, happy life, right?! We split one Beef Hot Pot for the three of us, and it was plenty. My wife and son were full, but I was saving room for pizza. It didn't make sense to order two pots. We got our money's worth! We came here specifically because it's a concept location. It was similar to other Boiling Points, but the service was great. At our usual location in MPK, we have to flag down servers. The servers here were attentive and nice! This location is called a concept because they have a tea shop next door. You can order drinks from your server, which is a perk. Another perk is the complimentary seaweed dish and the free drink shot when you pay. We really enjoyed this Boiling Point and would definitely return!

Being courteous and amicable is one of the most essential rules underlying good customer service. Always welcome customers with a smile and a respectful demeanour. Food came out fast and tasted great! Good job boiling point Pasadena.

This is my umpteenth time visiting Boiling Point and they never disappoint. Yesterday was unusual as the fire alarm in the condos above were going off, but the restaurant was still open for business. The fire department finally arrived and we had a great experience. For two people we orders the miso with extra beef! It was enough for two people...They even come around to add more broth to your hot pot. BE CAREFUL: Broth is very hot! The perfect lunch after an eventful morning! We came here to eat lunch on a hot day and was pleasantly surprised with the nice AC and good food. We both ordered beef soups and were planning on giving the kid some too. Our waitress surprised us with a complimentary udon noodle soup with bok choy! We still shared some of our yummy beef and fish cakes though. Since we came for lunch, we also got two free drinks included (winter melon juice or roasted oolong tea). We decided to upgrade for just $2.50 for a full tea from Jin next door! As this is one of our favorite boba spots in pasadena, we thought the $5 total for two drinks was a total STEAL! Overall this place is well maintained and run. Come for lunch and stay for yummy soup, free drinks, and complimentary chia seed dessert!

My friends claimed this location is the BEST out of all the Boiling Point locations and I can finally see why. I got seafood and both of my friends got the Taiwanese spicy. It was very tasty and I can see why it's better than their other locations. They also gave some kind of seaweed appetizer while we waited for our food. We came at the right time, around 4:30pm on a Sunday, so we got a table right away. Service was fast. We all decided this will be our stop after every backpacking trip from now on!

Never misses. The broth is packed with flavor, rich, and perfectly seasoned comfort food at its finest. Ingredients are always fresh, portions are solid, and everything comes out hot and satisfying. The staff is friendly and keeps things moving even when it's busy, which I appreciate. This is my go-to spot when I want something warming, flavorful, and consistently good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving hot pot done right.

I love this franchise and all things hotpot. My favorite pot at boiling point is the beef pot, but the individual hot pots allow everyone at the table to eat their favorite things. You can customize your order by choosing a select pot, your spice level, and whether you want vermicelli or rice as a side. There's also a small complimentary seaweed appetizer at this specific location, which was a tasty treat! I'd recommend eating here at lunch because they offer free green tea for lunch orders. This location had very attentive staff. We got our food quickly and didn't have to wait long. The interior was cozy and casual, while also offering boba drinks from the next door shop.

Good soup to have in the area, especially if you had a small meal before. I highly suggest that you get something mild, because you can always make it spicier later. Service was slow, but I won't put it against the waiters because it seemed that most were new.

Service is fairly quick (have to be to keep up with the amount of people coming in and out) and friendly enough. The food (outside of mine) was very tasty and had a decent selection size. Great flavor and very fresh. Mine (seasonal veggie) was very underwhelming. The taste, compared to everything else, was mid. It needed salt or some other seasonings. I ended up adding chili to it, which helped, but not much, which made me think salt was the missing factor. Not sure how that happened because the other soup, and my friends braised chicken noodles, tasted absolutely perfect. If anything, the other dishes were super bold with their flavors. I love that you can pick different handmade noodles. They were so good. A little chewy and cooked well.

I like coming here because it is not usually very crowded, and it is possible that it's because the pricing of the food is usually on the higher end. That being said, the food is reasonably good. The seaweed tofu salad has a nice kick to it. The black pepper beef was cooked well and the seasoning was not overwhelming. The crab fried rice tasted good, but the flavor of the crab was not as prominent. The dumpling was solid, but certainly overpriced for five pieces. The Dan Mein with chicken was a solid dish, but probably could get similar dish at the Chinese restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. Parking is easy, on the street or in the parking lot behind the restaurant. You can also park in the parking lot behind the Jamba Juice, which is located south of the Cordova Street. The servers were excellent, very attentive, extremely friendly, and definitely helpful. Would definitely come back, but knowing that it is on the expensive side. For seven dishes, pretty standard ones, it was approximately $150 after including tax and tip. The ambience was definitely immaculate, very clean restaurant, and the food was pretty solid.

The Dan Dan noodles have flavorful peanut sauce with it perfect noodles texture. Would recommend add extra sides for proteins, which we opted for pork belly and minced pork. The belly was extremely tender with thick juicy slices. The minced pork was equally palatable. They're generous in portion for being sides, we even packed some home. We obviously didn't skip their Hakka Mochi for dessert, which were still warm chewy yet moist when served and covered in overflowing black sesame and peanut powder. I wasn't usually a fan of black sesame but decided to give this one a try anyway and ending up no regrets at all! The powder was such spoiling mix of sweet and salty in one bite.

Unfortunately, it's nothing like Joy. Parking wasn't too easy on a weekday afternoon. We had to park across the street on a residential street. But, hey, parking at Joy is a pain too. Maybe that's a good sign. We walked in. No line (unlike Joy). But the layout and ordering system is very much like Joy. They even have the cooler with drinks to the right when you walk in the door. Some of the menu items sounded similar to Joy, so we were pretty excited to give them a try. I went for the vegan tofu over rice and a side cucumber/tofu salad. My wife ordered the pork belly over rice and the chicken wings. We both also got a black cold-brew coffee. The total: $68.51. Oof. I think Joy is cheaper. Food came out quickly, just like Joy. The cucumber salad had baked tofu in it (rather than tofu skin), and the cucumbers were just chopped up into tiny pieces, rather than smashed, which is the way I prefer it. While there was supposed to be chili-crisp oil on it, it was actually pretty bland. Meh. Next for me came the (vegan) tofu over rice. It included some pickled vegetables, which kind overpowered the dish. It was a strange choice. I've had pickled vegetables with Chinese food before (my wife is from Hong Kong), but these kind of overpowered the dish. It also included some carrots, which I think were also pickled, giving the dish a sort of Vietnamese vibe, but not in a good way. It was pretty much all I could taste. Adding a little chili oil helped balance the flavors a bit, but not much. As a pescatarian, I couldn't try my wife's dish. But it was basically the same as mine, and she was just as underwhelmed. She said the chicken wings were the best part of her meal, but they certainly weren't amazing. In conclusion, the chicken wings were OK and the cold-brew coffee was delicious. I think this place is mostly catering to average white hipsters who come for the vibe, rather than people looking for authentic Taiwanese street food. I really wanted to like this place, because it does have a cool vibe, and everyone working there seems nice. But unlike Joy, this meal just made me sad.
