Always a solid spot when I'm craving hot soup. I ordered the beef soup (mild) with extra beef and it hit the spot. I always ask for less cabbage because sometimes they load it up and there's barely any meat -- especially if you're paying for extra beef. Their garlic sauce is so good and perfect for dipping the skin tofu (which I always order extra). The broth itself is flavorful and comforting every time. The only downside is the service. The workers aren't very friendly and don't really greet or check up on customers. We usually have to raise our hands just to get noticed if we need something. This is my favorite Boiling Point in the SGV. Before COVID, there was always a long line, but nowadays it's not as bad. I used to really love coming here for their brown rice, which was more like a mixed-grain rice to me. Unfortunately, they got rid of it some time ago, which was a bummer. This Boiling Point is probably the smallest location you'll find. The tables are very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit here--you're only about half an arm's length away from the next table. It definitely feels cramped inside. I came here with a friend to take advantage of a deal where you get a free drink and appetizer for completing a survey at the end of the meal. However, the deal was limited to one use per table. We ordered our hot pots, a pork belly in garlic sauce as the appetizer, and an Assam oolong tea. Because the table was so small, fitting everything we ordered felt like a game of Tetris. The tea at 50% sweetness tasted a bit light. The garlic pork belly, however, was actually good, and the hot pots were tasty as usual. The staff members were patient in answering my questions about the deal and were generally attentive to our needs. Parking is usually easy, as there's a parking lot across the street about half a block away. Because of its proximity to my home and the quality of the food, I tend to overlook the space issue and continue coming back to this Boiling Point. read more

Came back after a couple years to celebrate my partner's birthday. When it is your birthday, show them your ID for a free medium pot (options 1-7) and a medium drink! No strings attached like signing up for a reward programs so it's very generous and for that alone, I plan to be back again! He got the Beef and this time I bought the Thai Tomato and asked for flaming spicy. The pots are filled passed the brim with toppings in the broth. They come out piping out, and it's the affordable meal where you'll likely get two (or three) meals out of it with the leftovers. On our most recent visit, we sat for almost ten minutes without anyone helping us. The restaurant was practically empty--maybe five other diners total--yet one server kept telling us he'd be "right with us," while another walked by multiple times saying "someone will help you soon." Meanwhile, we had been ready to order for a long time. The female server who eventually approached us was shockingly rude, which was such a major turn-off on top of everything else. The overall environment hasn't fared much better. The floors feel sticky and greasy, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the space just doesn't have the clean, inviting atmosphere it once did. Sister had two Boiling Point vouchers, so we chose to eat at the Pasadena location for lunch. The place is relatively vacant, with few customers. I offered the coupons to the server to see if we could use them, so this is a voucher for free cold dish items. My sisters and I ordered the BP Classic, Seafood & Tofu, and Korean Bean Paste Pots. We wanted Very Vermicelli instead of rice. The server gave us three bowls of rice, and I informed her that we chose the Very Vermicelli. The server dumps the rice to the rice cooker and serves us the Very Vermicelli. We received two free cold dishes, which were frozen and still tasted like ice inside the vegetables, which was not very pleasant. When our three pots arrived at our table, I couldn't believe they were so small and cost between $22 and $23 per pot... Although the soup has nice flavors, I believe it is too costly. If I had known how small the pots were, we could have paid a few more dollars for an all-you-can-eat hot pot meal somewhere else. The bill came up to $77 for three pots. We had a party of 15 and waited about 25 minutes give or take .. our party had to be split into two tables at opposite ends of the restaurant. There was a lot of staff but they seemed pretty busy. We came in about 2 hours before close and unfortunately a lot of their options were sold out. For any non red meat eaters, just a heads up that their seafood pot does have beef in it. Two of the flavors we wanted were already sold out and the staff had difficulty recommending similar alternatives. After my friend and I wrapped up our Pilates workout on a chilly day, we were seriously craving something warm and comforting - and Boiling Point was calling our name! I ordered the Taiwanese Spicy Flavor Pot, and it was exactly what I needed. This bowl was loaded with goodies: mushroom, fuzhou fish balls, rice balls, tofu skin, cabbage, clams, even my favorite pork blood rice cake...the list goes on! Each bite was a little adventure, and with the dipping sauce pairings, it was even more delicious. Lucky for my friend and me, it was a special promo day, so we scored a BOGO deal on desserts. We split the brown sugar tofu pudding and the brown sugar grass jelly; both were great! Not too sweet, and lots of toppings, which I love. It was a refreshing end to our hot pot meal. Didn't know the difference between this "concept" and regular boiling point. I think the big thing is that they have a lot of tea drinks as well as some other items not on the regular menu. The hotpots are the same as regular BP though. I got the milk creamy curry pot and it was good. I got flaming spicy and felt it wasn't bad at least to me. I always love BP and I feel this spot is better than many others that I've been to. They also give complimentary sea weed side dish which is a pretty cool addition. Service was good and attentive as they refilled my water often. I came on Friday around 7:30 and there was a small 15 minute or so line. Turnaround was quick so not too bad. I'm not even sure where to start with this location. I say this because I have been to the location in arcadia and its been great. Unfortunately i dont think i will ever be coming back to the pasadena location to be honest. The experience was awful. The food was good. It was fine but the staff being so disorganized was really upsetting. We first get seated and then all of the sudden within a few minutes the staff is scrambling trying to bring other peoples orders to our table and we told them 3 times we did not order that and that we havent even gotten out orders in. Mind you there was at least 2-3 different staff members coming to our table giving us something that we didnt order. Finally someone takes our order. It was not rushed at all but somehow the staff forgot to put in the order for one of our teas.... We try to approach another staff member but she couldnt even be bothered to help. We later approach another staff member and he finally helps us and gets us the tea that was missed. Then we get our soups that we ordered but then they come with an extra item of something AGAIN...we did not order... but somehow that incorrect item gets inputted into the system and pops up on our bill. It was not crazy busy in the restaurant AT ALL. I felt as if we were in a restaurant with a bunch of staff members that had dementia. It was not fun. read more

We visited this place when we were in old town Pasadena walking our dog on December 25th and they are open. I admire restaurants giving time to serve hot food when some restaurants choose to close this holiday. We went in together with our dog on a stroller they are open to service animals. Ambience was great not too loud and restaurant layout gives you a chance to go through each table without hitting another chair. I ordered the Japanese Miso, my wife ordered the Lamb Soup and my son ordered the Taiwanese Hot Soup. The food came in with a heating box where in they would light it up and keep the soup piping hot. It's just like the Shabu-Shabu style on the side I ordered Vermicelli and my wife and son ordered white rice. Food was overflowing from the bowl what a great treat! All three soups we ordered had their own different tastes. This is the one of the Boiling Point restaurants that is fully staffed no need to wait on a server to get your order. Comparing this to the one we last visited this one will give you more food we had to bring home half of it as we were already full and there is still a lot left!
