We had an exigent need for a relatively small repair to our concrete walkway, which had been cut into to reach a leak underneath. It seemed every concrete contractor in the area was either too busy to do the work or wasn't interested because of the size of the job. One of the local contractors gave me a bid, but admitted that if he needed the job done on his own property, he would call Scott Bohannan at Bohannan Concrete. I called and initially talked to Chuck, e-mailing him a picture of what needed to be repaired. Garrett Bohannan called me back and was able to give me a quote over the phone based on the photo I'd sent in. He conceded that they were super busy with other projects, especially now (Summertime), but they never want to turn away work, even a small job, and he told me that he would be coming out himself, over the weekend, to make sure it got done promptly. When Garrett showed up on Saturday morning, he did all the prep work (drilling and installing rebar, etc.), but told me that he could save me $50 by not taking the time to mix numerous bags of concrete by hand. Instead, he came back the following Tuesday with one of their trucks, which was working in the area, and poured ready-mix, to which he even added color to match the surrounding existing concrete. He even (happily) facilitated my kids' putting their hand prints and footprints in the new concrete. He was a super nice guy and the repair turned out great. (Also, the final cost to me was fully -half- the amount of the bid made by the local contractor.)
My sense is that Bohannan Concrete is a very large concrete contractor doing mostly commercial jobs, with a big yard, lots of supplies, materials and experience, but that they're all nice guys perfectly willing to help out a homeowner in need.
Their California license (C-8) number is: 720795. I don't think they have a working website at the moment, but these e-mails should work: scott@bohannanconcrete.net; dan@bohannanconcrete.net; garrett@bohannanconcrete.net and chuck@bohannanconcrete.net. read more
