Came here for a work lunch and we ordered the guac and chips to begin. Although it was good, the guac portion compared to the chips had us fighting for the last scoops. I ordered the gambas taco salad. The ancho chili shrimp was well seasoned however it could have came with more pieces. The cucumber-mango salsa paired well with the chipotle mayo and gave it the refreshing flavor to enjoy a salad (especially in the winter). The individual tacos are a bit expensive in my opinion and require at least 4 to be considered a meal which is why I went the salad route. Fairfield location was small in size and packed during lunch yet still a fun environment with good music. Tip: if you go during their rush hours, park in the back as front parking is limited in the plaza. read more

Everyone should stop by to try this place. There isn't any place quite like it in the area. A upscale taco bar that is reasonably priced, friendly and attentive wait staff and most importantly- delicious homemade guacamole. Home run in my book. We had almost every type of taco (each $4), from seared tuna taco with avocado- to brisket taco with pickles. taco americano was one of our favorites with ground beef and manchego cheese. They even offered flavored guacamole seasoned with pineapples, which was surprisingly good. Some of their other stuff I can't wait to come back to try, including duck nachos and octopus salad. Food and service were terrific. My only gripe is, while the small space gives it a very comfortable and homey feeling, it's way too small for a busy weekend night. There aren't many tables and there's nowhere to wait. You can call ahead of time and they'll put your name down, but while waiting everyone's bumping into you. Large variety of tequilas & a good cool atmosphere! This is a small little place serving up some big flavors of Mexican tacos, and great tequilas cocktails. Came here with my family, we started with a couple of margaritas and guacamole and chips. We ordered the jalapeno guac, a crab meat guac and regular plain guac all of which were yummy! For the main course I had the three beef brisket tacos. The meat was tender, flavorful and the bbq sauce didn't overpower the whole flavor of the taco. I would strongly recommend this place, but they have a long wait on the weekends so come prepared. read more

If I could give zero stars I would.... Let me start off by saying I didn't even have the chance to eat here due to the poor service given by the manager, so this review is not based on that. I left before ordering anything. My husband and I decided to give Bodega a try for dinner on Saturday June 27th, after hearing from friends and our oldest daughter how great the margaritas and tacos are. We arrived to this taqueria which is located in a strip mall. Okay, no big deal! We walked up and joined about 10 other patrons waiting for either a table or takeout order in the parking lot, all socially distant and kind enough to let each new arrival know they already gave their name. My husband approached a girl at the door and gave his name. She said one moment and I'll be right with you. Great! 3 additional couples/families arrived after us and approached to give their name to whomever was at the door (a different person each time). After waiting a few minutes, we notice those who arrived after us being seated by a young man. My husband approached the girl he originally gave his name to and alerted her to the fact that those arriving after us were seated first. She acknowledged that shouldn't have happened and that he's the manager (ok, and?) and told him we were waiting prior to those he seated. No apology or acknowledgement was given. Ok. A few more minutes later he waves my husband and I over. We follow, no greeting, no apology given for having seated multiple parties before us. He walks us over to a table literally sitting in a huge puddle and says this is what I have or you can sit in the back. Ummmm, no thanks I don't want to sit in a lake and eat dinner. We'll take the other option. He points to the table in the back and we sit. We immediately notice we are literally a foot away from multiple large garbage cans and it smells terrible. My husband tries to be positive and "make the best of it" since we are already there. I attempt to as well and figure I'll give it a chance. So we wait. And wait. We wait 10 minutes without a server in sight. I take this, the seating issues, and the lack of service when arriving as a sign and suggest we leave. On our way out we pass the manager. He clearly sees us leaving. He does not ask what was wrong, what he could do to turn our experience around. He ignores us. As we left we noticed a table now available that was not next to garbage cans or in a lake. The manager could've offered that to us and we would've happily accepted. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I don't think I will give Bodega another chance after this. It was a very poor first impression. read more

I went here for lunch today and it was amazing! I loved their modern tacos and the overall vibe of the restaurant. They had a laid back feel but unique food. I tried the Calexico taco which had fried avocado, refried beans, and queso fresco topped off with a hot cherry pepper; the burnt brisket tacos which were phenomenal a corn tortilla topped with chihuahua cheese, tender brisket, and delicious pickles. I got a side of the plátanos con crema which were amazing sweet plantains with a delicious tangy dipping sauce. The wait staff was nice and very attentive. We were there past week after a conference at Fairfield University. We arrived early, which was good, since the place is small and gets packed fast. Great, genuine and creative Mexican food. I have been trying to make it to this taco bar for a while now. Finally made it. A few things were of disappointment, the small location and no outdoor seating. I quickly got over that. The service was a 3. Poor service. Waiters didn't seem knowledgeable of the items on the menu nor were they willing to give insight on specials or popular menu being that Instated it was my first time here. It seemed as though they didn't want to be involved. All I received was a menu and let me know when your ready. I asked about happy hour specials as well, the response I received was happy hour is at the bar only. Not happy with the service at all. Customer service is key it can make or break a experience, no matter how good the food is. Honestly I watched how the waiters were more pleasant and interactive with individuals with lighter skin. I would hate to think it was because I was African American. It was uncomfortable ,unpleasant, and weird. Thankfully the food was not a disappointment. Our cousins treated us to amazing lunch at Bodega Taco Bar. After greeted by Michael, owner/chef we had delicious lunch of Guacamole, Baja fish taco, Gambas shrimp taco, and special Shrimp & beef tacos! Ordered sides all so amazing Brussel sprouts (so flavorful), plantains (omg), and rice & beans. Tacos were all fresh and full of delicious flavors! Everything is so tasty! We thoroughly enjoyed dessert of S'mores Fundido (gooey delight with dusted tortillas) with fabulous coffee! Our vacation was highlighted by an amazing lunch at Bodega Taco Bar! The meal (or lack there of) started out with shot glasses of water. That was a clue of what to expect as far as size goes. We were given a child size paper bag (cut in half) with tortilla chips that was supposed to be for four men. The main meal consisted of very expensive "mini" tacos ($4 each). I don't mind paying for good food but the price should match the product. The pictures here are deceiving and played heavily on our decision unfortunately. Very crowded and hard to get into (because the food is so good). First time I went was a year ago. It took me a year to return as service wasn't great that time and I wasn't totally blown away by the food. Driving by late afternoon en route to Molto, I took a quick turn into the Bodega parking lot instead. Nothing has changed with the service one bit. In fact, it was kind of a joke as Justin Long was at the bar and the bartender girl couldn't gush any more over him. (rolling my eyes)... Food was fine. I wanted to love the chips and salsa, which are an extra charge, but my chips were greasy and the salsa actually a little too spicy not in a good way. The flavors didn't blend well. It is a great place for interesting vegetarian options, so I will definitely give them that. Wish the vegetarian taco was a tad more interesting. I know Michael, the owner, can definitely put something creative together in that department. Probably won't return. I do still love Valencia though. I think it's time to do something about the sticky plastic jars they give you to hold the green and red sauce. I can just feel the stickiness as I write. I'm not sure how to improve that though. read more

Thus far I've sampled the guacamole(delish, though I wish the portion was larger), the quesidilla, and the pork belly arepas. All consistent, all great. My general go to is the sangria...although I had an amazing spicy martini here as well. When I think of "Bodega Taco Bar" the first word that comes to mind is "small". Though it is small, it is huge in taste! From the AMAZING guacamole, to the various tacos to choose from you will enjoy yourself. It is a little cramped for space and if you prefer a table expect to wait, we aren't really high stool kind of people (probably because of our short family stature) so we decided to wait for a regular type. It wasn't too bad of a wait so we stood outside until called by the nice gentleman at the door. The taco variety is not huge, but the taste of them are huge. I went with the "Ya-Mon" jerk chicken taco, and I definitely was impressed. I would have like to try all of the tacos but food allergies limits me from doing so... Well, that and me hammering the guacamole and chips, okay two of them... (Don't judge me) plus the drinks are great. I strongly believe this is the type of place that will grow out of it's small space soon. I think Bodega Taco Bar is worth trying. Enjoy read more

Guac with crab meat was a great and different pleasant surprise. Brussels sprouts very nice. Drinks were fabulous and even got a sangria on the house because we mentioned it was our first time. We live in RI but by the end of the meal we're planing our next mini road trip just to try what else they have to offer. Our only negative was it was so loud we had to strain to hear each other and the bartender. And beans and rice side could have had more beans. Let's put this into perspective. I placed not one but two orders for take out on Cinco de Mayo (which was well over a month ago) and unfortunately had to cancel my order because The restaurant was over an hour and half behind on orders yet closed at 9pm.. for reference my scheduled order time was 7:45pm. I'm sorry, I understand that a pandemic was and still is happening but when to have two hungry children waiting for food that you ordered and couldn't receive due to a lack of preparation on your run of show that day isn't my fault or anyone of your other customer's. Further it doesn't give you the right to offer mediocre service where small businesses should be putting their best foot forward. I'm extremely disappointed in how this was handled because not only was I verbally told that I would be provided with a gift card the day after when I double confirmed that I was refunded, but after following up one week later and then 3 weeks later and then well over a month later, I still haven't received it.. and I've spoken with their manager Matt as well who claims that I in fact was sent a gift card. I mean he was nice and all but quite frankly I feel like he just said that to pacify me at the moment. At this point I've been left to believe that this was a lie, because they're are extremely unresponsive via telephone (this is a business right?) and I still haven't received it. And to support this theory of not receiving it, let me just state that I receive a daily visual snapshot of the mail I receive so I don't think that USPS is lying. It's unfortunate that I've given ample time for this to be rectified and nothing has been done. I used to visit your establish very regularly and after your Cinco de Mayo fiasco, I can't no longer support this business just for the mere fact that you think it's ok to not take care of your patrons for an inconvenience on your part. It's rare that I write a review, but this was worth it. And this will also be going on Yelp and other forms of social media to make light of the type of service (or lack there of) that you think it's ok to offer your patrons. I came here with my boyfriend for his birthday and absolutely loved it! I have been waiting a while to come here and finally got the perfect chance. The drinks were so summery and amazing! We had guac and chips and the guac was killer! I ordered a few tacos and I could not go wrong! Every flavor is so unique and tasty! They also have their own version of dirty corn! Loved it! My boyfriend had a cuban sandwich which was huge! I tried it and I wanted to steal it because the flavor was so juicy and delicious! Our waiter was a very nice guy who got our food out quick. He answered any questions we could have had and made us feel at home and comfortable. The only downside was that the place was so dark! Cute small spot on a busy road. Perfect lighting for date night. But i really went for the tacos, Which were all tasty. Started with a good amount of guacamole and chips. Had a side of Brussels sprouts, outside was crispy and flavorful, sweet plantanos were crispy on the edges just how i like them, and sweet potatoes hay (not a fan of but it was my first try). Waitress was very friendly and patient while I took my time deciding what to eat. She even ran out to my car to bring me something i left on my table. read more
