ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I am not much of a taco person myself but this place was so good. I came with a friend during lunch on a Wednesday and it was not busy, we were seated right away. The tacos were seasoned and cooked to perfection! I had the Argentino (steak) and Baja (fish) taco, and all of the ingredients were crazy fresh. Although I wish there were actual fish in the Baja taco.... nonetheless, I enjoyed both choices! Argentino: 8.7/10 Baja: 8.4/10 But the real star discovery of this place was the BRAISED BEEF RIBS! Oh my goodness... it was the most tender meat I have ever had by far. Under it was a cheesy potato dip component to the dish where you eat with the meat. A solid set up that's wearing somewhat thin. It'd been some time since my last visit to Bodega but I remembered it positively. On this most recent stop, while it was relatively unchanged, there did seem to be a somewhat ineffable sense of "whatever". Like a tire you'd let the air out of but the car as a whole remained driveable. The drinks have always been a highlight and while I will say they were still a high above average this time around, there didn't seem to be anything new or particularly exciting. Which, again, is fine but I had somewhat expected them to remain competitive in an area that's growing and changing its cocktail culture all the time. Absolutely nothing offensive, what's there is still well beyond acceptable. The food however has definitely seen a minor, if still perceptible, downturn in quality, attention to detail or preparation. Honestly hard to pin down which it was but I suspect it was the attention aspect, which is not particularly shocking considering we were served fairly late in the evening. The guac and chips were mediocre but otherwise the rest was okay to fair. I stole one of my friends tacos which was oversauced but good. The staff were friendly and, I guess, attentive for us being there at the dregs of the night. Completely reasonable service. I did take note that they were wearing a uniform t-shirt that I found kind of baffling with a graphic of a medical mask and the phrase "no mas" printed alongside it with the years of the pandemic crossed off. I thought about it more than I usually think about a lame staff t-shirt at a taco joint and I couldn't figure if it were celebratory, sarcastic or a geniunely anti-mask sentiment but whatever the tone, it's a super weird message to force your restaurant staff to wear on their bodies in a foodservice establishment. I don't care what the politics of the taco bar are. I concede this may have just been an off night but comparing this experience to those prior, as well as it seeming like everybody around us was getting the same vibe. Went to Bodega last night with a friend. Drinks were amazing and tasty as always...probably my go to (strong lol) marg in Fairfield! I got 4 tacos instead of my usual burrito bowl and I was glad I did because they were great! We did wait about 45 minutes to sit outside, but one waitress (who did not help us but we wish she did) named Jenny was so kind and considerate, we even saw her get complimented by another customer. She spoke to us during our meal to make sure we enjoyed everything. The manager made his way around too and was also very kind as he let customers know the card machine was temporarily down. I love their sister ship in Darienne, so pleased to try it out. My guests have all been to this one many times. Don't get me wrong, I'll come again, but this location needs to go to service finishing school. (Is there even such a place?) First the food: I love duck. I proudly declare my love every time the word "duck" appears on a menu. It goes in my review. So I come with emotional baggage prejudiced in favor of Daffy & Donald's edible but unfortunate cousins. Cold food, inattentive staff.....this particular visit was my very last. I'll visit Darien but Fairfield needs to stop slacking. There are lots of taco shops in Fairfield and Bodega is hands down my favorite. I love eating at Bodega in person for the ambiance and the drinks. Most recently we ordered take-out for my birthday. THE GOOD: they were accommodating with seating us and moving the dividers at the bar, friendly staff, tacos were really good (pibil, shrimp, steak), gluten free for my celiac fella and he woke up this morning feeling good. The staff knew what not to order for him. THE NOT SO GOOD: they serve "family style" which sounds ok but really took away from the dining experience and I dont know if it's meant to get the food out quickly so you leave quickly. We did feel rushed. A waitress (I think she had green hair, noting this if a manager reads this) asked to take a plate that was half full and we thought she was joking? Then asked to take the guacamole which still had some in it. We asked to please leave both since we are still eating... wtf. We all ordered tacos but everyone's order came on trays mixed with one another so we started going back into our Rolodex of who ordered what to claim our tacos. Personally I like to order my food and get it in front of me unless I'm asking that we all share. Tacos came out here and there and there was some waiting time in between, when they bring each taco out. As soon as we were done they questioned quickly if we wanted desert, which we did and after that they came over with the table side charge card machine for us to pay. Yum yum yum. I am so sad I didn't find this place sooner because this place has delicious food and such good margs! The duck nachos are also soooo good. The service here is so friendly and this small place has such a fun, cute vibe. That being said, it is pretty small. However, my friends and I haven't had any trouble getting a seat when we came for dinner and happy hour. But we did usually try to come right when it opened. First time here today with a friend for lunch. I've been to a place similar and wasnt to impressed so I was skeptical. However, the tacos i had from here were delicious! I loved that they offered a lettuce taco option and by golly i went with all lettuce tacos. I got the Argentino which was a carne asada, The Gambas which had shrimp and one with pulled pork. So good and for $4 each i was full! I also got a side of braised kale which was delicious i just wished there was more kale in it. I cant wait to go back and try some of the entrees and drinks! This place is OMG amazing! Don't listen to others who hate on this place! They're just jealous!! Bodego Taco Bar serves up some of the best tacos I've ever had. I recently stopped in here w/ the bf on the way back from a long weekend trip to Ptown. We had been looking for one of the Diners, Dine-ins, & Drives restaurants, which we found was closed for the day... so we searched around on Yelp! and found this place as a replacement. Boy, I'm glad we found the Bodega! I just wish I liked a lot closer b/c I'd be there every week!!! On this visit, we tried a number of their tacos, and all of them were out of this world! We had the fish taco (baha), the burnt brisket taco, and the pork taco (Cochinita Pibil). Trust me, all of these babies were the real deal. Yummers! They were seasoned just right... and the meats were tender and mouthwatering!!! We also tried several of their sides. We stopped here on our way back to NJ from Mystic, Ct. for a quick dinner. It was packed, but they quickly cleaned a table for us. I didn't hear our waiter ask if we wanted guac and chips, but my boyfriend said he did. I thought he just asked if we wanted chips. Regardless, the answer would have been "yes," to the guac. The guac and chips were okay, very few chips came with the order. The chicken Tinga burrito was totally delicious and was enough for lunch the next day. The taco salad was okay, I should've ordered a different topping than the grilled raja veggies because it just was a mess of hot and cold vegetables, but shared with the Tinga burrito, it all made for a delicious meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, we enjoyed our meal and would definitely stop by again if we're passing through. I'm from RI and go into New York City by train about once a month and I always pick the Fairfield station for three reasons: free parking on the weekends, safe cute college town, and Bodega Taco Bar. This intimate little taqueria is right along the train tracks and about a 4 minute walk from the station. It is an absolute must stop every time I'm here. First things first: their tequila selection is incredible and the drinks are top-notch. I like a really spicy drink and their tomalito made with jalapeno infused tequila, fresh tangerine juice, agave, and red chili flakes does not disappoint. Now onto the main attraction: the tacos. Absolutely perfect. These may be some of the best tacos I've ever had. I always start with three and end up ordering at least three more. I'm a seafood fan so I go for the baja panko crusted mahi mahi, the gambas (seared ancho-chili shrimp), and, my absolute favorite, the seared tuna with crushed avocado, ginger carrots, and sriracha aioli. The tuna is always perfectly rare, the ginger carrots add a nice crunch, and the aioli adds just the right flavor. I have a NYC trip planned in two weeks and I'm already salivating at the thought of more Bodega tacos! read more

I did not enjoy my experience here. The food was mediocre and the atmosphere was loud and uninviting. When we arrived, the music was so loud that it was hard to hold a conversation. It got to the point where, while we were waiting for our food, we had to ask the staff if they would mind turning down the music. we were informed that they could NOT do so as apparently only the manager was able to do that. Uncomfortable and unable to speak with each other, we switched our orders "to go". When we received our food, the portions were small and, after leaving, realized our order was wrong (my order slip said no cheese but it had cheese anyway). I got a burrito bowl and it was half the size you'd expect from other restaurants and still cost $16+tax. The flavor was ok--not bad, but not fantastic either. The staff was friendly but this was an overall disappointing experience and I would not come here again. read more

This place was good and def a must to back. The guacamole was so good the corn was so good the tacos were good the drinks were tasty but could use a little more liquor. It I feel like every place is like that. Outdoor was good contactless dining was nice touch all original covid rules still enforced which I appreciated. Paper plates disposable utensils. I really appreciated that my one negative feedback is the fact that when we went another party next to us had a dog with them and it kept getting loose and crawling under ppls tables so although the owner wore a mask to get the dog who wants a dog walking around when they are dining. The staff was friendly to the dog which was nice to see but just because were outdoor I don't think it's appropriate to bring their dog to eat dinner. Otherwise a def go back place. I wasn't sure what to expect from Bodega but this place is great! Their guacamole is soooo delicious. They season it perfectly with lime, salt and cilantro. As for vegan options, there are only a few but they're delicious! I ordered their chopped salad and their side of brussel sprouts for lunch. The chopped salad was good. It had corn, avocado, beans and tomatoes. They also had a dairy free vinegrette. The brussel sprouts were super delicious too. They had a sweet pineapple glaze and were charred to perfection. We felt families are not welcome here anymore.. We are customers to Bodega since they opened. Today was the worst experience ever, waitress was extremely rude, purposeful antagonistic and downright mean. No greetings, no smile she looked like she was annoyed that they have customers.. The music was so loud, it was hard to talk to each other. We nicely asked, if they can turn down the music a little bit. She said "no" that's it, short answer "no" with a sour face, "only the manager is able to do that. " Ok can we pls talk to manager, "no, he is not here". Ok, we will leave then, She shrugged and then walked away. This is really disgusting, We felt horrible! I guess she did'nt like that we werent Collage Students, with that loud music and rude attitude they might be trying to get younger crowd.. I'm vegan. I don't particularly enjoy Mexican food. I came here to spend time with friends, fully expecting to nibble on some iceberg lettuce and then go home to eat later. Well, color me impressed. There aren't a ton of vegan options, but many vegetarian things that can be modified. Just chat with your server; ours was rather nice and gracious about my picky requests. No matter what you do order, definitely do not pass over the roasted Brussels sprouts. I've never had a better rendition in my life, and I've had a whole lot of sprouts. Perfectly crispy on the outside, nicely salted, and practically creamy-tender on the inside, I couldn't get enough. That side alone is worth a second trip. read more

I enjoy coming to this place for lunch. Love the vibe of this place and the staff is always very good. My favorites are the Cubano and the Sangria. They have all sorts of taco options but as I mentioned my favorite is the Cubano. The restaurant is relaxed and the lighting is a bit on the dark side but it is actually perfect. The sangria and specialty drinks are really good although I often go for the Pitcher of Sangria (red) it is very refreshing. read more

Can you guess that I enjoyed the Brussels Sprouts? Yes, I did. I enjoyed them very much, and you will too..... Started with 'Tres Salsa & Chips'. The chips were perfect, and the Mango Cucumber Salsa was my favorite. The Frito pie was authentically (New Mexico style) served in a snack size Frito bag. I loved it, but the Chili may have been a little burned... Had a sample of a yummy Shrimp Taco, and a Lamb Barbacoa Taco all to myself. The lamb meat and BBQ sauce was a bit too rich for me, but the flavor was pretty good... Bottom line: Don't miss this place, it is creative and delicious!! and get the unique Brussels Sprouts.... You want to go here on a Sunday. They have a brunch that is first-rate. I had their breakfast burrito and it was outstanding. The absolute best thing we shared was their cheviche. Freshly-made, it is absolutely the best thing on the menu. Service is warm and happy. If you are a tequila maven or if you like tequila-based cocktails, this is a must-stop. An elevated taco bar. This has seating for about 20-30 people, they have great interiors. I was here for dinner a candle light dinner experience. They are not like a mexican place but a upscale and modernized taco place. A very simple menu with lot of varieties. We ordered agua frescas which were non alcoholic drinks trust me they were the best they had mixture of two different fruits and great combination. Guca and chips on point. Their tacos are small as mentioned they are probably two bite sized waitress mentioned this and we can try varieties of their tacos. The waitress was amazing she took a moment to help us understand every item on the menu. Overall we had a great experience. Will go back again to try more. read more

I love this restaurant! The food is always delicious and fresh. They have exceptional customer service. I order a Fiesta Party to-go on Friday night for a birthday party. It was the perfect amount of food (even leftovers, but can't complain about that). Everything that was supposed to be hot was still hot when we got home and everything that was supposed to be served cold was deliciously fresh and cold. This is a hoppin' place, however, if you want to eat there when it is a little quieter I recommend 5pm.
