I want you to know that Kyli is the BEST!!! I travel for a living and she deserves a raise!! This is a small bungalo for the money, but she went out of her way for customer service. Xoxo. 5 stars read more

I chose this place for my husband and I to enjoy the coast and because it is pet friendly! Nikki is amazing (multi tasking is her thing)! We were in the cottage with a hot tub and deck with chaise lounges and a table and chairs. Perfect for enjoying morning coffee (provided in room) or to dine in the evening with take-out. Our dog was so comfortable in such quiet surroundings and in the fenced in area out back. Rustic, yet very clean! That's what we look for. We are easy to please - but cleanliness is so important. Decor was beach motif - of course! The kitchenette was handy - frig, micro, ice machine on premises. Bed was comfy/cozy and shower had great water pressure. We stayed for two nights, but I guarantee that we'll stay longer next time. Yes, there will be a next time! Thank you Nikki for everything! read more

Just got off the phone with George the manager. He's extremely rude and not understanding at all. I booked through a third party and the booking date was incorrect. Yes, it's my responsibility to double check. But that doesn't justify George's rude attitude. I would have rescheduled if he was willing to work with me at all. But I'd rather do business with people who value their customers. I visit Bodega twice a year and I'll never consider coming back after this treatment. read more

AVOID -- Disorganized business Bought a voucher on travel zoo the first day it came out. I made a reservation -- which took me about 3 calls to get through (no return vms). When I finally got through, I made a reservation for a Saturday night two months in advance. I should have gotten a confirmation code, but this place sounded mom & pop, so I didn't bother. I called the night before to confirm, and the guy told me he didn't see me in the book and he had to search in 5 different ways. He told me that he would look into it and call me back. He was polite, but he never called back....should have known Morning of my reservation, I leave 2 voicemails, and nothing. I call again, and get the rude lady at the front desk who took my original reservation says she can't find any records. Basically, they blew up my weekend, and not even an apology. read more

We stayed with the Travel Zoo deal. $115 (a Friday night), plus a bottle of wine and 3 vine tasting vouchers. Just a heads up that the vouchers are for buy one get one, and not for free tasting. I give this 2 stars because, although it was not atrocious, it was not a deal at $115. Considering the room, the view, the parking, the noise, it fell in the $65 range, in my opinion. The male who began checking us in, I believe he is the husband of the husband/wife duo, was polite and warm. His "shift" ended when we arrived and the female checked us in. She was fine to work with, but not necessarily professional or warm. The room was small, cold tile floor, and looked as if the foundation was failing. Floors were slanted, doors had uneven gaps as the floor had sunken over the years, and there were some dirty places in the restroom. It was not like there was a chalk outline of a recent murder, but the uneven flow of the floor kind of made me seasick. No view out the window. Just a view of the water tower room. This is not the fault of the owners, but the people staying in the tower room (which was about 3 feet from our room) had loud music on that I could sing along to even with my TV on. To the managements credit, after we complained about the music, she immediately quieted the disruptive guests. I guess I just realized that this is the kind of place that attracts those kind of people that are not looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat, but a cheap place with vacancy on a weekend. I suggest price comparing to see if you can find a better location for the same price before you commit to the Bodega Harbor Inn. read more

We stayed at one of the cottages at the inn and it was right by the water. It was a nice weekend getaway and a cute place for a reasonable price. However, I give them a one star because we had sand in our bed and when we told management, they completely flipped out on us instead of being helpful, offering to clean it, or giving us a discount. There was also sand in the shower which they claimed was actually wood chips from "terminates," which certainly didn't make me feel any better. The place is cute, but not that clean and not worth the drama with the management. I'd stay somewhere else next time. read more

Good place to stay overnight. Cute rooms, beautiful view of the Bay. Great seating area to overlook Highway 1 and the bay.

If I could give another half a star I would. We stayed in the room with two queen beds which had ample storage and room for us and our 95 lb. dog. There was no fridge, iron, hair dryer, or microwave in our room (one of the reasons for not giving more stars) but if you know that going in, you can make accommodations. I read one of the other reviews about the floor and I agree the tile is cold but we brought in our dog's large blanket and used it as an area rug which helped. The inn is a short walk to a grocery store and restaurant, Lisa, the manager, was very accommodating and although we had "neighbors", our stay was very quiet. Bodega Bay is a sleepy seaside town so if you're looking for things to do late into the night you're better off elsewhere. If you're looking to relax, take a scenic coastal drive and have some time away from the rat race, this may be the place for you. read more

Where should I begin? I stayed in the infamous water tower room on the night of 11/11/11 after a family wedding. RESERVATIONS: Word to the wise: Make SURE you provide your phone number when you make reservations at this "Motel" ("Inn" is a very misleading term for this place). My sister called to make reservationshere for a different room, and her husband even called back to provide BHI with his phone number because they failed to get it from my sister when she made the reservation. BHI's response? "Oh that's not necessary, I already ran your card, there won't be any problems." But indeed there WAS a problem because there was a glitch with the card. So what did they do? Yep, since they didn't have my sister's phone number and could not contact her (their fault), they gave away the room to someone else. This threw our wedding plans into complete chaos, forcing us to scramble to find another room late on a Friday in Bodega Bay (not an easy task as it's a popular place, esp. on weekends). Insult upon injury, they told my sister there was no way they would have failed to take her phone number over the phone, basically calling her a liar. CLEANLINESS: This is where Bodega Harbor Inn inexcusably falls down hard. The black sooty grime on EVERY SINGLE SURFACE, including the bathroom and window sills was substantial. Every surface I took a wet towel to came up VERY black. This was not just a mild case of grime, or a couple overlooked spots - it looked like nothing in the room had even seen a swipe in at least a year. So if clean matters to you, then I wouldn't even consider this place (check out the photos I added to this site). This obscene lack of cleanliness made me wonder what I WASN'T seeing, know what I mean? The folks at BHI were kind enough to allow me to make my reservation without making any payment to hold it, so I don't understand why they didn't require $ upfront from me but did of my sis. Go figure. PRICE: For $99 I expected MUCH more. Other hotel rooms in Bodega Bay in the same price range have LOTS more space and way better and more amenities. ROOM SIZE: I'm not kidding when I say this place is suitable for munchkins. The room is barely big enough to accomodate the bed (see the photo I posted...). I don't think each side of the bed had more than 18" clearance to the wall (and one side of the bed is half taken up by a wall heater), and it was barely 4 feet at most from the foot of the bed to the chest of drawers. The room dimensions are about 9 x 8, and is so small that if you have just one suitcase it's annoying 'cause there really isn't anywhere to put it without tripping over it. More than one suitcase will definitely challenge your patience. AMENITIES: If you bring a lot of clothes to the Water Tower room, then you can forget about hanging them all up. This room comes equipped with only 3 hooks on the wall - which is more than just inconvenient if you bring a couple of suits, jackets, shirts, etc. For two people, this could be a clothing nightmare. Another thing that really peeved me was the abysmal lack of wall outlets in this room. I needed to charge the battery for my camera for the wedding brunch the next day, and when I plugged the charger into the wall next to the bed, it actually FELL OUT. I tried unsuccessfully to plug it in again two more times with the same result. I had to plug it into the only other outlet I could find, which was the sole plug remaining in the extension cable for the TV. Good luck if you need to charge your cell phone at the same time... Also, the entire floor is COLD tile - no carpet. BATHROOM: If you are 6'3" (like me) or taller, then expect to hit your head squarely on the entranceway to the tiny bathroom. Also, the only mirror in the bathroom is about 1 foot x 2 feet, and is positioned on the wall above the sink at a DOWNWARD angle. This means that a tall person can see everything from the neck to the bellybutton (maybe). It would have been appreciated if the size of the room, zero closet space, and the low hanging door jam to the bathroom had been communicated to me by the BHI staff. Had I known this, I would not have made a reservation with them for that room. "Rustic" is one thing, hitting my head is not good. PARKING is a joke. The lot is undersized, and they do NOT assign parking spaces for each room (if they do, they don't enforce it). The result is someone could have multiple cars for one room, and if you come back to the Inn late at night (as I did, after a long wedding event) - good luck finding a spot. So yeah, there is a coffee maker in the room with all kinds of ground coffee packages (but I don't drink coffee, so this was not a plus for me) and there is a minimalist breakfast in the office with 3-day old packaged bagels and OJ. Nothing you wouldn't expect to find elsewhere, and certainly nothing to rave about. My advice is to look elsewhere. I will definitely not be back. read more

My wife and I go somewhere new every anniversary. This year, we chose to rehoneymoon in Bodega Bay and stayed here. Everything was great! Helpful and friendly staff/owners George and Lisa made us feel very welcome. There are nice stores within walking distance. The other people staying at the hotel were friendly, too. The harbor is an easy walk away. The ocean is a short drive away. And there's a gregarious kitty who visits you at the picnic table. It was nice since we missed our cats at home. I don't know if he's the owners' cat or a neighbor. I do know he acted like it was his picnic table and was just as friendly and welcoming as everyone else we encountered! My wife and I will definitely be coming back to the Bodega Harbor Inn!!! read more

I thought that the 'rustic inn' was cute. I don't mind looking at the parking lot for a cheaper room, and the view is cool if you walk over to the lawn with pretty colored chairs. And they've got everything you need and probably forgot (they lent us an iron and hairdryer, gave us toothpaste and brush). The problem I did have was not with the actual building or accommodations. I was really blown away by the difference in service depending on which manager you were dealing with. There was a really nice guy there who was super friendly and helpful. He was SO pleasant. Then there was the lady... When we arrived to check in she was on the phone with a potential customer, and she was giving him attitude; told him he would have a hard time doing anything if _she_ had control of the room keys, that she didn't have a sense of humor, that he was hitting a wall etc. She was really stern and seemed unhappy to be dealing with everyone she encountered. The next morning when we were checking out we were a bit late and brought the keys to the office, no problem, but we were still pulling our bags out of the room. We were looking for some misplaced items, you know, under the bed, in the bathroom, when the woman came up and said "Can I ask why you are still here?" I explained that we were just making sure we had everything and she was SO rude. She said that we needed to leave and just made me feel really unwelcome; which was disappointing because my travel companion had just told the nice man that we would come back to their Inn. By the way, we were out of the parking lot 30 min after checkout, I don't think we were being SO unreasonable. Now I wont be going back to the Bodega Harbor Inn. I would rather pay a little more somewhere else in Bodega Bay, or move on up the coast a bit, just to avoid that one lady and her bad attitude. read more

Without a doubt the best proprietors in Bodega. An A+ staff is what makes this place a standout. I will not divulge exactly where I stayed (they have a few properties) for fear I will never be able to book it again. I have rented many high end vacation homes, and my experience with the staff at the Harbor Inn beats them all. The well appointed tastefully decorated home, and I will say home, was perfect & comfortable in every way. The beds were comfy, the towels aplenty. Worth every last penny, even in the pouring rain...even more in the pouring rain... read more

We would come here again! The husband & wife owners were awesome in recommending things to do, places to eat. They definitely work hard to keep this place up, affordable & comfortable. You know those hotels that call you incessantly if you haven't checked out by 11am and refuse to let you check in before 3pm? This isn't one of them, and this is just one of the things that I love about this hotel. We rent hotel rooms probably at least 3-4 times per year. Once a year (at least) we stay in the Santa Cruz-area so we can take Raina to the Boardwalk, and luckily we have found our amazing deal around there (don't wanna give it another shout-out on Yelp and risk ruining it!), but this was a difficult task. It is not unusual for a flea-bag dump that probably has bed bugs, tweakers and god-knows-what-else for over $100 and even $150 per night in prime season. Bodega Bay doesn't have the Boardwalk close by, but it's safe to assume that any hotel near the beach still reasonably in the Bay Area is going to have a hefty price tag. We started looking in Bodega Bay because I bought a Living Social deal to go kayaking (which I've always wanted to try!) there for half off. BHI had great reviews on the various booking sites I was on, and with their cheapest rooms at $80 on weeknights and $90 on weekends the price was definitely right. Here is the breakdown of our Bodega Harbor Inn experience, on Yelp's scale of 1-5: * Hospitality: I'd give them a 10 if I could! Lisa and her husband (George?) are so nice and so helpful. They'd been very helpful and flexible in the many weeks it took to plan our trip, even giving us contact info for their competitors and trying to get us a discount when they were sold out over Labor Day. It felt good to patronize a locally-owned business with owners who obviously care and love the area instead of some chain with a bored-looking, customer-service devoid teenager manning the front desk! * Location: Excellent!!! There is a beautiful garden-area with chairs and picnic tables which overlook the Bay. There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance (ask for the menu & 10% off coupon to the restaurant next door) including a great little grocery store with a deli. The gorgeous ocean beaches are a very short drive away. * Price: Again, EXCELLENT!!! They clearly describe their rooms and their prices on their website, starting at $80. * Amenities: There is a flat-screen TV with basic cable (more channels than we have!), in-room coffee pot & tea, an awesome "continental breakfast"*, and picnic area with a view and BBQ *Continental breakfast consisted of: fresh-baked blueberry muffin loaf, mini-cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, orange juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bagels, rolls, bread, cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, jelly. I was happy with it cuz I've seen "continental" breakfast which just had packaged pastries and coffee. We even made a PBJ sandwich & bagel w/ cream cheese to eat on the beach on the way back. Also, they served breakfast all the way up till the 11am checkout (I hate how most hotels end breakfast an hour or more before checkout because of their hurry to get you out!) *Room: When I rent a hotel room it is generally because I am trying to explore a new area, not because I plan on staying in (and picking apart) the room. I want it to be (a) clean, (B) comfortable, and (c) fitting the occasion. If I pay under $100 for a room (unless I am in Fresno, Stockton, or the like) I don't expect some fancy-pants hotel. The type of people who complain about and give a low rating to BHI (unless they had a truly inexcusable incident/s) are they type of people I would say "why didn't you stay at one of the 5+ expensive hotels in the area clearly marked "resort" or "spa"? I would much rather pay less for a clean & comfortable room that may be a little older, sparsely furnished, and with only a stand up shower than spend two to three times more for amenities I am not going to use. Before I end I have to further explain how I started this post: I LOVE (but never encounter) hotels that don't have strict checkin and checkout times! They were expecting us at 2:30 (which is still earlier than usual) and after our kayak trip was postponed, Lisa graciously let us in at 12:30pm! She told us that checkout was "around" 11am. Well I'll be honest and tell you that I am the type that likes to get maximum usage out of my hotel room (plus I am also NOT a morning person), so I hate how the front desk starts harassing you if you're not out exactly at 11am. Sure the room has to be prepared for the next guest, but (a) I know that the maids are at least a dozen rooms away and have plenty else to do, (b) It's Sunday, so the likelihood of you even having a guest for this room isn't high, and (c) it's only 11:05! Because they were so cool about it (and in general) I actually got up when my alarm went off at 10am and had us start to get ready. We were out by 11:20, which is about 20 minutes earlier than when I am somewhere that they harass you! read more

This has got to be one of the best bargains in Northern California. If you're looking for swank, pay the hundreds per night at the Inn at The Tides or the other jazzy resorts in Bodega Bay. If you're looking for quiet, old-fashioned friendliness and charm, check out the Bodega Harbor Inn. We've stayed in Rooms 1, 12, & 14, all of which have small decks and great views. The other rooms do face the parking lot and have a more motel-like feel to them. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, the views from the Adirondack chairs on the front lawn are outstanding and they throw in a nice continental breakfast and great coffee too. All for an incredibly low price. And, pet friendly, too! read more

Some of the friendliest family service I've experienced at any motel. Motel itself is extremely clean, very basic, and freshly painted. Most of the rooms open onto a gravel parking lot. They have a nice patio with the barbecue and lawn overlooking the harbor. Flowering plants around the property. Pet friendly. There is a market and a couple restaurants within a one block walk. Does not take American Express. read more

We were walk-ins after a long day driving up the California coast as part of a cross country trip from Alabama to Oregon. We arrived early evening and found only one other room occupied. The young lady at the counter was friendly but didn't go out of her way given the time of the day and our "tourist" status. The room was small yet comfortable. It was a bit pricey for our arrival and departure times. We found everything to meet our needs within easy driving distance. The owners were present the next morning as we were checking out. Good, friendly people. We would visit again. read more

Very cute quaint cottage style rooms! I absolutely loved how cozy this place felt! Reasonably priced ( for the area) with a good view of the ocean they have a few tables and chairs in the grassy area ( perfect for popping open a bottle of wine and having charcuterie board and watching the sunset!) we were able to bring our dog which was the deal sealer for us! He has epilepsy and cannot be left alone) (the veterinarian office is literally right next door just in case. Their hours are M-F 8-5 closed on weekends.) The room was small and clean with tile floors, beds were comfortable. The owner ( I think he was the owner?) at the front desk was very chill and inviting. We will most definitely come back! Next time we'll stay a week in one of the houses! Thanks for a great weekend getaway Bodega Harbor Inn. read more

This was the most amazing place that I have stayed at as I have often been to Bodega Bay for the past 20 years! The managers, Nikki and George, are absolutely phenomenal. Through them we became acquainted with at least three additional business owners from local restaurants and surf shops. Everybody that we met working at Bodega Harbor Inn (Lisa and I forget the others' names) were great - totally nice, knowledgable, helpful and accommodating. The room we stayed in was very clean & comfortable & dog-friendly, the grounds were pretty and serene, the other guests we met and talked to were fun and interesting. The only reason I can think to consider not giving 5 stars is that some guests might have more wants/needs, such as fridge in the room (we would've liked that, but wasn't necessary), or pool/jacuzzi or who knows what - but our needs were pretty much all met. Thanks, Ted read more

Three stars only because it was clean. Motel was recommended because they had rooms from $65. Mine was more than twice that. It was probably the most stripped down place I've ever stayed. Bodega Bay in itself is quite beautiful and after reading about their Inn on the website and some of the reviews we decided to give it a go. We booked a more expensive room which was touted as a private cabin with a Jacuzzi and views. Well I can say that it did have a Jacuzzi, but there is no way you can consider a converted garage a cabin and there was definitely not a view (unless you looked thru the fencing and thru the other homes). There were no functioning windows in this unit either and even if they were functioning they wouldn't have been enough to aerate the room properly. To top that off there is no fan and no air conditioning. We tried to open one of the windows in the kitchen and the glass almost fell out on to the ground. When we went to use the Jacuzzi it was too hot and there was no nice view as we had expected. This unit was behind a home (obviously because it's a garage conversion) and surrounded by wood fence and not even close to the beach. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us thru the area and if we would come back I'm sorry to say it wouldn't be with this Inn. We wanted to experience views of the bay and there were none to be had. The good things were that the unit was clean and the staff was nice. read more

Stayed in #3. Immaculate room. Loved the place and would definitely return. George was super friendly. Couldn't be happier.

If you're not looking to spend a lot of money on upscale lodgings and just want a clean comfortable place to sleep and shower, than this has it all in spades. We stayed in room 5 and everything was spic and span and was a relaxing place to spend the night. Probably my only complaint was the bedside lamps were so dim we had to take the shades off in order to read a book. Either put light colored shades on the lamps, a brighter watt bulb, or provide some other means of lighting for reading in bed. They did provide bagels and such in the office from 8am to 11am. Also small coffee pots in room, but we all know the quality of coffee those little charmers put out :). Wish they would make the continental breakfast available earlier than 8am. Fortunately we didn't need to make an early start or we would have had to go elsewhere for coffee. Several shops and a grocery within walking distance. read more

I thought this had some less than wonderful reviews so we were skeptical at first, but once we got there, it was like driving into a separate little community. The side street to access the place is off the windy, slender road through town and on a curve, so it is easy to miss. Hotels are generally either upscale and classy (modern, fancy and expensive), a workingman's place (bascially cheap, no extras yet functionable), chains (moderately priced, perfectly acceptable, reliable) or cottagy, quaint, cute, lovely, delightful, independent places just like Bodega Harbor Inn. You almost don't want to rate it for fear it will become so popular you can't get a room!! Totally awesome experience, and thanks to the ladies, Nickey and Lisa. I don't think it would be the same without them. The rooms and houses are decorated so sweetly, perfectly and in my favorite mellow colours, lol! They are clean, perhaps a bit tight in some cases, every extra has been thought of, (a clock is needed in the single house with the hot tub) there are two bed side tables (a big thing for us, we both read, and rare to find) extra tables and chairs, just as homey as you can make it away from home. We would make a point of returning to the area to stay here! read more

We just returned from staying in their Harbor House, a cute, older 2 bed 1 bath little dream. We came from the east bay area, and were there in a little over an hour. The house was so cozy, had a huge kitchen that was stocked with everything but food. The deck faced the water, as did the dining area. It's conveniently located between 2 great markets, and many restaurants. The private hot tub was an added bonus, and was ready to go when we checked in. And the staff...I can't say enough how friendly, sweet, and accommodating they all were. We've stayed mainly in hotels over the years, and honestly this was a very nice break from that style, especially being able to prepare your own food. Set in a rustic, beautiful town, we will definitely be back. read more

I planned a birthday getaway for my fiancé October 6, 2020. I wanted something on the bay & looking at previous reviews of this establishment I thought it would be a great place. When making the reservation with the Inn (not via internet) I asked about the spa that was advertised & was told that it was available to be shared between the two cottages on the bay. It didn't even exist. The pictures on the website showed a full kitchen. Our cottage only had a microwave & small refrigerator. That is false advertisement. There were several flies in the room when we arrived & we killed at least seven. That was very unsanitary. The vertical blinds were broken & we were unable to have complete privacy. I know that the area is older & I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel but just common requirements were necessary. I was very disappointed in the cottage that we rented for the night. It was too far to drive home that night. I reached out to the Inn airing my grievances with a letter upon returning home & I have not received a response. I probably should have complained once checking in but there were circumstances which occurred before arrival & we were exhausted. I would not recommend this establishment. Not worth the money I paid. Please do not waste your money. read more
