You really can't beat the views at Bodega Harbor Inn! They have plenty of Adirondack chairs where you can sit back and relax, along with a few tables that were perfect for enjoying a glass of wine, playing Yahtzee, and watching the sunset. The inn is located on a busy road, but traffic slows down in the evening. The rooms have a charming beachy feel and are on the smaller side, but that's exactly what we expected after reading reviews. We were only staying one night, so we booked the smallest room. If we return for a longer stay, we'd probably opt for a larger room. That said, if you're in Bodega Bay, hopefully you're spending most of your time exploring rather than sitting in your room! The rooms include mini fridges and a coffee station, and the lobby has a larger coffee and tea station as well as a microwave. Parking is located right outside your room, which makes loading and unloading easy. The location is also very convenient. It's within walking distance of a grocery store that has just about everything you might need, including a deli. The Birds Cafe is right across the street and serves coffee, delicious breakfasts, oysters, lobster rolls, and more - all with fantastic views. We have been using Bodega Harbor Inn for over 35 years and have always had exceptional customer service from George and Steve. Our most recent experience was not great with newer employee (Gina). When we arrived on WED we were happy to get our keys to the Harbor House as it was our first time to stay in this house. We got into the house and we realized it smelled of gas. There was one burner that was taped off with do not use on the tape. It was obvious that the Inn was aware there was a problem, yet this was not taken care of properly prior to our arrival. We returned to the office to inform them with our concerns in the Harbor House. Gina let us know that she has had other guests with the same complaints but she said it had been recently serviced. She said if it made us feel better she could have the handyman come look at it again in the morning. She tried to reach the him, but there was no answer and she had to leave a message. Gina did assure us that the owners daughter had just stayed in the Harbor House with no complaints. We chose to stay the night and have the handyman check the stove in the morning. It was two days before the stove was checked so we were not able to use the heat or stove until Friday evening. The young man who worked on the stove let us know it was leaking gas because it was not fixed correctly. We also had some attitude from Gina when we tried to get 4 wash cloths and more coffee for the coffee maker. We also had to ask for toilet paper twice because we only had 2 spare rolls for 4 adults staying 5 nights (6 days). We should have been offered a discount for the 3 days we were not able to safely use the heater and stove due to the gas leak. We have decided that we will have to move on and find a new place to stay for our yearly vacation to Bodega Bay. I think things would have been handled differently had George or Steve been running the office that week. We are very lucky that the house did not blow up nor did we have poisoning due to the natural gas leak. Keeping all the windows open until it was properly serviced was difficult because it was so cold, but we are still here to share this story. Looking back on this we never should have stayed in the home but I am happy to be alive. We are just disappointed that our trip was not enjoyable and we paid extra to stay in the house when we would have had a better vacation just renting a room without these issues. read more

I wanted to give this place 5 stars so badly. The place was immaculately clean and had everything we could need. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because the bed was the worst/most uncomfortable bed I can remember sleeping in. And that's saying allot, because I was a road technician who stayed in some pretty sketchy places. The bed was so uncomfortable, I had to go out to my truck in the parking lot, to get any sleep. If they ever change/improve the beds, I would definitely stay here again. But, being that the primary reason for getting a hotel room is to have somewhere to sleep... I can't justify the money it costs, to sleep in my truck. read more

In general, Bodega Bay is just a casual beautiful coastal town west of Santa Rosa. However, when you enter the Harbor Inn neighborhood, one would think they are in Carmel. The grounds are fabulous and the golf course is beautiful. On a windy day, the course is very challenging. If you're fortunate to be out there on a calm day, it's heaven. read more

We stayed here in pelican 1 the bed was lumpy and hard and very uncomfortable, And the grill brush looked like someone used it for a hair brush so we bought a new one at a deli now that place was great had everything we needed. With that said I wouldn't stay here again. read more

This quaint in was perfectly located across from the bay. The price was right. As far as facilities it was like stepping back in time. Don't expect anything fancy, but it was perfect for spending the night. Bodega Bay it's a beautiful little town with lots of history going back to Alfred Hitchcock movie the birds. Stayed here for two nights in the Water Tower!!! Small, but has everything you need: toilet, small square shower, (half) sink, suuuuuuper comfy bed, dresser, chair, tv, mini fridge (that I didn't realize I had to turn on LOL but I only had drinks in there), and a nifty metal table thing around the fridge that had a pull out drawer for my snacks!! Even had a small coffee pot and its necessities :) Staff was super friendly - i told the person who checked me in that I was here for fun but also to try out my new camera and they quickly suggested a nifty little spot across the harbor!! read more

Stayed in room 1 and would not recommend especially if you get vertigo. The room itself has NO windows and is Not leveled at all. It's like walking in to a mystery spot where you'll feel dizzy. We asked to switch rooms because of this and it was super stuffy. They said to open the front door for ventilation. We had our toddler so we couldn't just leave the door open. The room was clean except for the bed which we found hairs when we lifted the blanket. The colorful chairs were nice, the view was good if you sit outside. If you see any photos with this inn that makes you want to stay here, call them because a lot of things have changed. We paid $216 for the room which is cheaper than a lot of places around there. read more

The price is not bad. We stayed 3 nights with our 1 month old and our large/medium dog. The outside area is great and the chairs are pretty comfy. The bath tub is also nice (I'm 5 10 and fit comfortably in the tub. The shower head could use a good cleaning and grossed us out a bit. The tv barely works, the cable goes in and out and people were trying to connect to our tv from other rooms. The cable remote doesn't control the tv so the last night we weren't even able to change the channel or try to out it back on cable. The fridge is small but perfect size to keep some drinks cold for after hitting the beach or going hiking. The staff has been great and extremely friendly. Overall the stay isn't bad for a quick getaway. read more

Stunning views. Comfortable rooms. Great location. Bodega Bay is north of San Francisco. The drive from SF takes a little more than 90 minutes. Another option is to fly into Santa Rosa Airport named after Charles M. Schulz (the famous creator of the Peanuts cartoons). Either way, once you get off the freeway, the scenery is beautiful and the roads are very well maintained. Bodega Bay itself is magnificent. An awesome feature of the Bodega Harbor Inn is the view. They are atop a naturally occurring bluff above the bay. From this height, the bay is stunningly beautiful. Colorful lawn chairs are provided. Some guests peacefully enjoyed a glass of wine during sunset. The rooms are clean and functional. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water. Some rooms are larger than others. Some allow pets, and others are always pet-free. Smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms. Housekeeping is on request, which respects the ecology of the area. Two highlights of our visit were a day trip to the Korbel Winery and Children's Bell Tower. (Korbel makes some very fine sparkling wines that you can only get at wine shops, online, or visiting the winery. The 100+ year history of the winery is covered in a free 1-hour tour. We chose to stay at one of their cottages and really enjoyed it. Was very nice to have a small patio area so we could play ball with our dog, and having a private hot tub was great. Very convenient too having a small grocery store within walking distance, and the Birds Cafe. The cottage itself is a bit small, but was very clean and had a kitchenette with coffee machine, microwave and small refrigerator. The people were also very friendly. We love Bodega Harbour Inn! Stayed there in Oct 2022, room 15 suite. It was great! Loved having a full size fridge and there were also pots and pans, etc. There was a little dining table and a couch plus the 2 bedrooms. And it was dog friendly! I would book it every time I stay there in the future if it's available. In fact, we're going again in October with family and I wanted to reserve it but we raved about how great it was so much that one of our family members reserved it before we could! Our last visit we stayed in room 5, 2 full beds and a little 2 chair dining table. It's also a dog friendly room which was great since I brought my little dogs! It's been quiet both times we stayed there and the great thing about Bodega Bay is that people are so friendly, from employees to other travelers, that it makes the experience so much better. Room was clean, I didn't feel unsafe there. It's also really close to both little markets and a few shops and cafes. A few notes would be that a lot of the rooms have a step up into them, they would not be accessible for a wheelchair or someone with mobility issues. My mom has bad knees and steps are hard for her but luckily there was a handrail and we were able to get her in and out fairly easy. Theres a few rooms that are flat but may not allow dogs so Just make sure you check. Also, it's an older inn so don't expect everything to be in perfect shape. There's gonna be some scratches, paint chips, but honestly, it still looks well taken care of. It's not going to be top of the line like a Hilton but it definitely has that local Inn charm. I will note that in room 5, there was no screen on the window. Rooms don't have AC, just heat because it's pretty cool/cold there most the time but I'm always hot. I wanted to open the window and let some cool air in but the side with the screen wouldn't open and the other side opened but had no screen. Our door on room 5 also had a gap at the bottom, you could see light coming in under it and my sister was freaking out that bugs were going to come in. We stuffed a towel under it to be safe. . So just be prepared for little things like that. We never noticed any bugs or rodents or filth. Towels and bedding looked clean, some toiletries provided. All in all, none of this is stopping us from visiting again in a few months. We can't wait to be back at the inn. read more

We stayed here last night. When we got here we asked the price., we were quoted $176.00 we asked if they took pets. Yes and we got room 14, we could not use the toilet all night and was using the porta potty across the street. Then I left a message how the toilet was not working so he gave me the keys to room 11 to use the bathroom after I asked to use his.. we'll we loaded the car up because we were told we had to change rooms, so we did. We went to take care of the room. He then added 57 dallors for washing the bedspread because the dog was in there. Said he she'd on it. I said your supposed to wash then and plus I had sex on it. The he didn't give us any discount on the room for no toilet. I asked he said we got a e0 dollar discount, the room was 215 plus tax. So he gouged me on price. Even the web site said 176 bucks. Then I said your not gonna give us a discount for no toilet and he said the toilet was fine now. I said I didn't flush all night , he said it's working now. We stayed in room 1 - the Large King Room with patio. The staff was very kind and friendly. Our room was on the smaller side but enough space. A comfier chair would have been nice. The floors were sloped but it's built on a hillside! Loved our patio view and the great Adirondack chairs overlooking the harbor as well. Very easy walk to the great spots in the Harbor area! It was a great stay! Everything was clean and the room was nicely decorated - not the "antique" feel I read about in other reviews. The bed was FIRM so hubby loved that, me not as much. We enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend the Pelican Plaza grocery store and surf shop. read more

One star for cleanliness bc it is clean but the room has all the ambiance of a prison cell. The bed is as hard as the floor and my back was out after a few hours watching the cheapest cable package imaginable. They say they are open until 9 pm but when I went to use the microwave (only one in office not room) at 8:15 they were closed. The frig is small and it's Jerry rigged so you have to unplug it to use the coffee maker in the am. This place is highway robbery for the cheapest room at 170$ w tax. Skip it if you at all care about amenities or your body aches after a night on the rack. read more

This was a delightful place to stay. I was alone and the room suited me very well. It also would have worked for 2 people, but it would have been cozy. The gentleman who checked me in was very nice and efficient. The room was very clean and comfortable. It had plenty of light, which I really like when traveling. There's nothing worse than a dark hotel room!!! The only downside was the tile floor. It felt slippery while I was walking around in my walking shoes. I always travel with slipper socks which have gripps on the bottom and those made me feel much more secure. I had dinner at La Bodeguita and it was excellent. The shrimp burrito was very flavorful and was a generous size. Good value for the price. As for the price of the room at Bodega Harbor Inn, I felt it was a bit overpriced, but I'm sure it's due to the fact that you're in Bodega Bay. read more

Very quaint inn in a very quaint fishing village. Where they filmed The Birds. We got the room on an Amazon local deal and was not disappointed. The check-in staff was very nice, gave us a bottle of wine and a copy of The Birds to watch. At no extra charge. Very clean rooms, Awesome hot water and shower. Stayed here for two nights over MDW and absolutely loved this peaceful escape from Oakland. The staff was very friendly and I LOVED Babe the dog (it was her bday, she was so cute). We stayed in room 5 which had 2 double beds. The room was clean and plenty spacious for what we needed. The WiFi needs help... it did not work for streaming and was difficult to use for email or browsing the internet but thankfully we didn't stay here for the wifi! The tv with cable was nice to have, we were able to catch the end of a game while we waited for dinner. We appreciated the mini fridge in our room to store beverages and cheese for snacking. The backyard with Adirondack chairs was put to good use -- we had many meals and glasses of wine out there while enjoying the sunset. The harbor was a short walk down the road or even short scurry down the trail on the hill across the street. The other people staying at the Inn were very friendly and appeared to be enjoying their weekends as well! I was very nervous after reading reviews for this Inn but it seems that the rooms have been updated (or ours was, at least) and I must say again that it was very clean! Stayed at this Inn because of a Groupon deal that was $119. The deal came with a bottle of wine and wine tasting passes. There was also continental breakfast but I didn't try. The inn is nice with the ocean view and picnic tables and chairs outside for you to chill outside with wine. There is a cat that wanders around there. Very cute. They forgot to bring us one of the bottle of wine that came with the deal. They don't provide lotion, only shower gel and shampoo. This inn is close to a lot of seafood restaurants. We are wine and beer drinkers so we had to drive out to another city that's 25 mins away to drink. Not much to do here. There is a hiking place nearby the ocean. read more

I jokingly gave my husband a hard time for not planning a date on his own all month. The next day he was on the phone with Bodega Harbor Inn booking a weekend getaway for us! There was only one vacancy and it was for a two-bedroom​ vacation house so we took it. It was a bit pricey at $300 but whatever. The house was beautiful when we arrived and overlooked the water. I jumped into our private hot tub pretty much 10 minutes after arriving. It was already heated up for us and bubbling away. Pure bliss. The house is across the street fro the inn and I think it has a different vibe than staying in the inn itself. I looked up the room later online and the photos are ancient. Its been completely updated and looks like a beautiful vacation home now. Next morning my husband went and got the complimentary breakfast for us and brought it back. Plenty of food to get us going. Coffee, juice, Kind Bars, all sorts of bread galore, coffee cake, and fruit. Bring your own DVD's for a cozy night in after exploring the area all day. We had a ton of fun getting take out from The Boathouse after a terrible meal at Gourmet Au Bay. We ended up with two dinners and had a way better time just eating in our huge, warm kitchen.
