From the moment you arrive at this location, your greeted by the manager or the Desk agent. It's a small resort 40 something rooms and it's managed like an BnB where people are so courteous and helpful and friendly. People make it a point to know your name even if you're staying one night. This place has hiking immediately off of the property access to water, don't worry about bringing your swimsuit. It's too cold to jump in, but it's gorgeous. There are some sauna, but I don't know who has access to them. I did not and there's no pool. There is plenty of common areas where you could meet other guests or sit by a fireplace by yourself and read a book and have a hot chocolate or an adult beverage. They have a fully stock bar and a restaurant with good food. I wouldn't say exceptional but good food. You wouldn't have to leave the property if you showed up here. This is only a two hour and 30 minute drive from San Francisco along a beautiful curvy roadway off of CA1. read more

Wow this place is a gem. The resort sits above the Sonoma Coastline offering a secluded oasis to relax and unwind. It almost feels like being off grid while still being able to connect. Most of the rooms have ocean views with a small balcony where you can take in the breathtaking beauty of the ocean. The in room fireplaces are automatically guided by nest. I loved the in room record player. One is the records was Fleetwood Mac- I listened to it the entire time. Such a cool nostalgic vibe listening to the record player and staring off into the Pacific Ocean. There are so many amenities- onsite restaurant, fitness room, fire pit, pool table, and other outdoor activities. There is a great room filled with seating options with a floor to ceiling stone fireplace, lots of board & card games, and bar area. In the afternoons there is complimentary wine tastings for a couple hours out back. Grab a glass and sit at a picnic bench to take in the stunning views of the coast. There are a couple EV chargers that are free. On site there is a 93 ft peace statue that represents- beauty, spirit and tranquility. The statue wraps up the experience with a bow. The staff at Timber Cove are so warm, accommodating and welcoming. My room had direct views of the ocean but it was a bit run down but the views alone would make me return to this beautiful place over and over. They also have a great coastal trail all along the property for great sunrise and sunset walks. The food at Coastal Kitchen was pretty bad. This review is specifically for the dining experience I had at their resort restaurant, Coast Kitchen. They serve lunch until 3 on Saturdays and while it's pricey, you are paying for the view and the remoteness (there's not many dining options once you're north of the town of Jenner on Highway 1. The resort itself rests on a dramatic seaside bluff and by dining at Coast Kitchen, you have access to those sweeping views. The service was meh at first. The hostess sat us and said she'd bring us menus but never did. A server took notice and then immediately stepped in and made sure we were all set. I got the portobello mushroom sandwich. It held together nicely and didn't turn soggy after a few bites as those sandwiches are want to do. The ambiance was upscale rustic and we scored a window seat, as it was almost 2 by the time we arrived and lunch was winding down. After lunch, we wandered the grounds and took in some extra coastal views. It was a nice rest between various coastal parks we were visiting that day. Lunch was over $50, so this is definitely more of a special occasion stop for my budget. It was nice to try out, but, even though I find myself out this way every few months, I can't see making a meal here a regular stop. It's a splurge for sure. 10/10 for views, everything else, 3/10. Hubby and I came for some rest and reprieve from the Palisades fires and thought we might as well make a nice trip out of it :) first off, views are amazing. The best in California. It gives me RPV/Terranea vibes. The long, windy drive to get here was worth it. However, for app $600/night, I think it's reasonable to expect the elevator to work, but the lift was broken. The staff was kind to bring up the luggage for us. My hubby booked the room w ocean cove view but the receptionist said there would be an upgrade fee of $100/night for that. I wonder why they didn't state that upfront during the booking? I'm seeing others mentioning similar issues with Timber Cove not stating the additional fees upfront. The day we arrived, there was complimentary wine tasting from 4-6pm, which was nice. I looked forward to having the comp cookies at 4pm daily. It was really cold so having a fireplace helped to enjoy the sunset views. The complimentary pastries in the morning are out only from 6-8am (and at 8am sharp, the pastries are taken away) which is odd, and super early considering most hotels I've stayed in offer continental breakfast until at least 9am lol. The rooms are average (super cold too) and the bathroom had an interesting smell to it (couldn't put my finger on it). It's cool they have a record player in each room and you have access to board games in the lobby. I wished they had more than just one restaurant in the hotel considering it's a really far drive to a different restaurant outside the hotel. There is one restaurant in the entire resort that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there are not many options as some menu items overlap between lunch and dinner. It's hard for me to classify this place as a resort and justify the price range ($600+ per night). The three stars are because of the friendliness of staff and the stunning views, but I'm not in a hurry to be back. read more

A great hotel for the area! The hotel has a great room with a large fireplace and lots of board games to occupy your time. Free morning coffee and small pastries from 6-8 but the coffee constantly runs out and you have to wait 10 min for a new batch to be made. The food menus are minimal which is great because the food they do have is really good! I also enjoyed the selection of beers on tap and their house cocktails. The rooms are updated and clean, no coffee machine in the rooms just a tea kettle and tea bags. The rooms's patios face the ocean which is absolutely beautiful and cold. Our patio had Adirondack chairs and a table with chairs so I spent a lot of hours sitting outside enjoying the view. Highly recommend the hotel but make sure to bring warm clothes for walking the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It is cold, windy and lightly drizzled on and off during our four day stay. read more

My husband booked Timber Cove Resort for my birthday weekend and it was so nice! I loved the cozy rooms complete with blackout curtains, a record player, and plenty of space. We stayed in the ocean cove rooms and the view was gorgeous. I only wish the weather was better so we could have enjoyed the deck! The resort gave me a birthday card which was nice, but too bad it didn't include some wine like other photos i've seen! I loved the fresh cookies that came out at 4pm and the complimentary champagne on Saturday evenings. The room was nice but one thing that bothered us was that our mechanical skylight shade and the remote was not working... So once the sun rose, the light filtered in right on top of my husband's face, lol. Besides that, our stay was great! Loved the gym onsite and the fact that they have trails around the property to hike. Their onsite restaurant, Coast Kitchen, is also great for breakfast and brunch. Timber Cove is incredible. The whole vibe is mid-century relaxation, surrounded by the most beautiful coastal landscape. It felt peaceful and restorative , almost like an adults-only retreat, since everyone there seemed to respect the calm atmosphere. The only small negative was a misunderstanding with check-in, but it was resolved quickly and didn't take away from the experience at all. We are vacationing in the area and decided to try Timber Cove Resort located at 21780 CA-1 Jenner, CA 95450 on Tuesday, September 23rd. The views are spectacular overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The food was subpar. We ordered oysters and they were spoiled with a rancid smell. Even after getting the oyster juice on your fingers you were left with a horrible smell. When we told the waitress she had a look of disbelief and walked away leaving the rancid oysters on the table. A few minutes later she came back to pick them up. Next came the mussels and unfortunately they too were rancid. At this point in the meal we were very skeptical of the rest of our food and hoped things would be better. Unfortunately, things didn't get better. My no cheese burger, came out with blue cheese and was well done even though I asked for medium well. My husband fish and chips was extremely salty. We had 8 adults and 2 children. Mostly everyone's meal had something wrong with it. We finally decided to speak with the manager, Ximena, we found it strange that she didn't come to check on us after we sent back the rancid oysters & mussels. Ximena, the Manager came to the table and acted as if she wasn't made aware of the problems with the food. She then proceeded to justify the quality by saying they wouldn't serve spoiled oysters or mussels because every thing is kept at the right temperature. She was pretty much saying the food was good. I also explained we needed more water and had to ask several times for missing items. She reluctantly agreed to adjust the bill. However, when the bill came no adjustments were made. So we again had to speak with the waitress again. Meanwhile, As we were eating the plates stayed on the table and the table was a mess. Usually as you eat empty plates are picked up. Finally, She removed my burger but added 20% gratuity that wasn't there before. I would not recommend eating there but would recommend the drinks. The woman bartender fixed great drinks! Driving up the coast on Friday, Aug 29, the first day of the Labor Day weekend, hoping to find a room - anywhere, probably isn't the best move. Well, I did exactly that, and stuck behind a decent amount traffic, I pulled into Timber Cove Resort - ready to be done driving, and walked in the door, up to the front desk and expected to be greeted with indifference but instead was warmly welcomed by Erin with a smile. Although I expected there to be no rooms available for that one night, Erin took a look and found a few that were still available. It gets better. She then offered to show me some rooms. I chose the second and got a very "competitive" rate. She gave me an overview of the resort, and even though I had stayed there in the past, was unaware of some features - until she told me. She set the tone for a so much better than expected stay. Oh yeah, she also asked me if I needed help with dinner reservations. The first impressions are so important in a stay, and we all have had the exact opposite, and it's hard to recover. Again, Erin totally set the tone for an incredible stay, and I have to give a shout out to bartender Brian. I had dinner at the bar (awesome bar by the way) and he was working so hard, but enjoying what he was doing, and had plenty of time to interact. He was another huge plus. I can now talk about the view, the architecture and the setting, which are all 5 stars and one of a kind, but the understated part is how all comes together to create this indescribable vibe that is unmatched. You will forget everything you have going at home and live for that exact moment. Oh yeah, the rooms were luxurious, great coffee in the morning, and the restaurant food was great. Sink was clogged. Had to ask someone to turn on the fireplace. Amenities/service were also lacking. Nobody came to service our room. Wanted to order room service and told by waitress bar/kitchen would close around 10pm. Called at 9pm and they said they closed early. We opted for charcuterie - asked for meats and cheese and they instead brought meats and crackers. Restaurant was above average but charged premium prices. Feels like a family-run establishment that charges 4/5-start resort prices. This is a barely 3 star hotel (wouldn't even call it a "resort"). NOT WORTH IT. This review is for the bar/restaurant only. We are locals to the area and stopped in on a rainy Sunday afternoon for a dink and a bite at the bar - the coziness of the space was everything. We were immediately and warmly greeted upon taking seats at the bar; I was in the mood for a hot drink and the bartender was happy to suggest a cocktail and I was glad I went with her suggestion. We ordered the smoked cod rillettes which were fresh, delicious and generously portioned if not a bit pricey. The bartender let us know we were just in time for a complimentary wine tasting in the lobby so we stayed for that as well. The only thing good about this restaurant is its location and view. I've been coming to the Timber Cove Inn for years and was excited to bring my family, 4 of us, yesterday. We were all excited to have Oysters on the half shell and sip wine and watch the sunset. Luckily, when we walked into the great room, the fireplace entrance to this beautiful property, there was a wine tasting going on from Croix Estate Winery. They were tasting 5 wines so we sat and did the tasting, hoping to find a wine we liked to have with dinner. We liked them all but unfortunately the winery didn't bring any wines to sell. This was a failure, IMO, as I wanted to buy 3 bottles but was shut down..oh well, delicious tasting but now it's Oyster time! We were very excited. We were the first customers to sit for dinner. We immediately ordered 2 dozen oysters on the half shell. The waitress showed me that the menu item was only for (6) oysters and to look at the price, $29. We know that these are an expensive delicacy, thank you. I didn't need to be checked by the waitress. She understood that we were eagerly waiting for oysters so she took our order and left. She returned 10 minutes later to inform me they were out of oysters..we were shocked, and disappointed as this, and the view, was why we were there. We decided to stay for dinner as there are no other close by options and we were starving after all day on the beach. My wife and I ordered the seafood soup, maybe their rendition of a clear, non tomato Cioppino. My son ordered the Pork chop. The server took our order and returned to the kitchen. 30 minutes later she came back to tell us that our Salmon Wings were holding up our order but that they would be right out. At this point we were confused because we didn't order salmon wings. She returned with the salmon wings and we told her we didn't order them and please remove them from our order, she apologized for her confusion and took them back. She returned with our seafood soup and Pork Chop. The seafood soup smelled like rotten fish. The broth was clear and tasteless, except for a rotten fish flavor and hot water, needless to say, we were VERY DISAPPOINTED. My wife and I could not eat our soup and left it, a real disappointment! My Son said the pork chop was cooked well but tasteless. When we got the bill it included the Salmon wings that we didn't order. I always leave a tip but I was PISSED OFF. I drew an arrow from the tip line to the meal we didn't order and wrote a note that we didn't order this and left nothing for a tip. My wife threw up in the parking lot! What a complete disappointment! We were tired and unsatisfied with a 2 hour trip home. I WILL NEVER RETURN FOR FOOD HERE AGAIN, or while this restaurant is serving there. We just wrapped up one night here and had great time. The location is phenomenal. There are all of these cool trails that you can take to the water. Also, there is a rocky/boulder area with an art piece that was fun. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food was incredible. I think I may have had the best fish that I've ever had. The negatives: Lots of dogs. That's cool, except you can hear some them yapping in the rooms while their owners were away. Also, do we really need dogs in the restaurant? I'm paying $50 for a small piece of fish,l and it would be great not to have someone's dog staring at me while waiting for food to fall. The server was super nice, but forgot a few things. The room was comfortable but not super clean. It smelled musty, and the floors were extremely worn. The overall vibe was casual and relaxed, and the room was at the high end of what I wanted to pay for what I received. The food was delicious, but a little pricey for the atmosphere. We experienced a few snafoos this time but the GM, Angel, QUICKLY handled the issues with care and made our stay truly memorable. Timber Cove is the perfect staycation! My husband took me here for my birthday earlier this year and it was such a great weekend. The rooms are so cozy and make you feel like you are at a super high end resort with the record player in the room, the fire place and the beds in the middle with amazing views. My husband and I recently stayed here for a few days for our babymoon and we are so glad we did!! The hospitality here was so great! Wanted to give a special shout out to Molly who made our stay so worth it. Upon arriving, we noticed our room was with a loud kid next door which would make any stay- particularly our last trip before having a baby ourselves, make it difficult to relax and get some shut eye. Molly was sooo understanding and empathetic- she expressed she wanted us to have the perfect little getaway and ended up moving us to a beautiful room far away and with a better view! It was all that we could ask for: peaceful, clean, relaxing and beautiful. Other than Molly, the bartender was also super nice and friendly. Drinks were on point! We were also surprised at how delicious the food at the Coastal Kitchen was. We really enjoyed our dinner with the beautiful view. Our server was a bit uptight, and seemed a little offended when we didn't take her recommendation but she was still fairly nice. We also really enjoyed the singing and dancing in the main area - I think it was a Wednesday night. It was really cozy, the singer was so talented, and the guests were not shy to dance the night away! We've traveled together to so many amazing places--Yosemite, New York, Carmel, Los Angeles, San Diego--but nothing compares to the hospitality we experienced here. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was a special place. The love and care shown toward our dogs, especially Cesar, were unlike anything we've ever seen. They weren't just welcomed--they were celebrated. Cesar received so much attention and kindness, and it was clear the staff genuinely cared. Housekeeping was absolutely impeccable, making everything feel spotless and comfortable for all of us. Angel, the incredible manager with a Puerto Rican background, treated us to drinks and left a lasting impression with his warmth and authenticity. At the front desk, Puso greeted us with the kindest welcome, instantly making us feel at home. And Sia--there aren't enough words for Sia. She went above and beyond, feeding us, treating us like royalty, and keeping us entertained with just the right amount of conversation--never too much, never too little, always perfect. Finally, the night attendant made our trip even more magical by letting me place a Christmas ornament on the tree. It was a small gesture that made me feel like I was part of something special, as if I were in my own little holiday story. This was by far our best anniversary trip yet. And when they say "pup-friendly," they mean it--our dogs were as cared for as we were. We can't wait to come back. read more

My husband and I (along with our baby) braved the "atmospheric river" storm for a quick birthday getaway to the Timber Cove Resort. Our room was non-refundable, so we pushed through and made our way out to the beautiful Sonoma Coast. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was warm, inviting and friendly. They informed me that our room was down a few flights of outdoor stairs (no elevator), so I asked if it was possible to be moved to a ground floor room since we were traveling with a baby. I was informed I'd be charged an upgrade fee. I found this to be disappointing, as it didn't appear as if the resort was anywhere near fully booked, considering the weather. It was pouring rain with heavy gusts of wind, and we had to carry our baby down the stairs in her stroller, so this wasn't ideal for us. We booked the cove view room, and sadly we didn't get to enjoy the view much during our stay, but our room was cozy, comfortable and mostly clean (the shower floor had a shoe print and rust stains; the kettle also had dirt inside it). A couple of other things to note during our stay - they provide complimentary pastries each morning but only until 8am, which seems a bit early. When my husband attempted to grab some one morning (before knowing about the 8am cutoff), the staff member let him know he was too late but offered to grab some for him. She then proceeded to charge him for it. We found this to be odd, as the pastries are complimentary, and wish she would have let him know upfront that he would be charged for it. Lastly, we ordered room service one afternoon, and I noticed that I was automatically charged a 20% "large group" gratuity. I'm not sure why as it wasn't a large order, and when I had asked about it, I don't think the manager understood my question. Again, I think it would have been helpful for the staff to inform us of any automatic charges upfront. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy the grounds much because it literally didn't stop raining during our stay, but we did get some much needed R&R (even with a baby!). While traveling the northern part of Highway 1 we were very much looking forward to our night at Timber Cove. The resort had a very cozy feeling, with thoughtful details such as board games and vinyls for your room. Nothing beats being able to fall asleep to the breeze and sound of the cove outside your room. Would have given five stars except parts of the experience left a bit to be desired. Parts of the resort felt less refined - they definitely hit the mark on the aesthetic but not always on the quality. I was pretty shocked to see that Timber Cove's Yelp rating wasn't a solid 4 or 5 stars! I've been here three times with my husband and have absolutely adored the stays. Here's my quick 'n dirty before I rave: -Dog friendly! -Brilliant, expansive views -Clean, modern, cozy -Fun trails around the property -Incredible parks and trails nearby (Salt Point Park is a MUST) -It's UNIQUE! Timber Cove offers more entertainment than just drinking and dining. Don't get me wrong, I'll happily chat and snack at the fire pits, but there's an added comfort from a property that expertly utilizes its space. There's pingpong, foosball and pool tables, record players in every room, board games and records in the lobby, trails and seating areas peppered throughout, and the "Peace Obelisk" - a sculpture situated in the second smallest state park in California. What's most magical? Regardless of sun, rain, or fog, the ambiance here fits the day's vibe. Cool, refreshing, breezy in hot weather; warm, cozy, intimate in cold. In preparation for an upcoming week off of work, I started exploring areas a few hours away from the Peninsula. After spending hours on Google Maps narrowing down the destination then exploring hotels/Airbnbs, I finally made the final decision to book this. As soon as we pulled in I knew this would check all the boxes. Usually I'm in a rush to the front desk so we can get settled. Who would've guessed we actually PAUSED, in the parking lot no less, to breathe in the air and views. I'm in LOVE with the landscaping and lobby (the bar looks so vibrant at night). Our first stay was a Cove Room and WOW, what an incredible water view! The hallway that led us there was nothing short of enchanting. Beautiful stone stairs are nestled throughout, flanked by luscious greenery. The balcony was larger than expected, which gave my dog plenty of space to trot around. Get ready to absorb the soothing drum of waves hitting the cliffs. The second stay was an Ocean View Room since we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary. This, by no surprise, was also luxurious. There are two levels of ocean view rooms, and I specifically requested the second floor to ensure we had a fully enclosed patio. The staff - who have always been professional and friendly - answered my email promptly and perfectly executed that request. Our Forest View room overlooked the deck and fire pits on the Cove side, with the trees across the street in the background. The ceiling in this room was high, angled, and sported a skylight that let in sooo much natural light. Quick notes on finances: Yes, there are cheaper options along the coast, but I didn't want outdated TVs/beds/decor/amenities. I've never had a billing issue here, and we've even been lucky enough to extend our stays by a night without billing confusion. They do send invoices; mine usually go to spam but I've found them from a "xinfo@timbercoveresort.com" (fwiw I also have printed receipts, it's a habit to ask). Every room greeted us with wine (champagne for the wedding anniversary, which was a nice touch), spotless surfaces and cool details (the coat/shelving setup is great, beautiful walk-in showers, cute kettle/tea/steeped coffee). The fireplaces in the Cove/Ocean rooms absolutely served as a cherry on top. If you've made it this far, you can tell I have a crush on Timber Cove. read more

This place is beautiful! We only ate at the resturant (did not stay at resort) but the service was incredibly friendly and fun! The food was amazing! I hope they are proud of this place because they should be proud! It was wonderful! They also have plenty amazing vegetarian options. And they are very non judgmental about it and the options are easy to find. They section the menu by meat "land", seafood "sea", and vegetarian "garden". The drinks were so great as well. Just a lovely place with kind caring staff. Love it oh and they have an AMAZING SPOT to watch the sunset!!! read more

We went over a stormy rainy long weekend and it was a perfect balance of nature meets nuture. The rooms are comfy and uncluttered, with a great view and Bluetooth record player. The beds were wonderful and perfect for us. Loved the pet friendly and welcoming environment. The resturant manages to really shine with strong flavors just done well. Don't skip out on the chicken dinner or the burger. They might just surprise you and remind you how good these classics can be. The perfect place to recharge and get away for folks of all ages. Just wish the fireplace in our room was angled better for ambiance (it faced the desk instead of the bed) and our room really needed a small sofa or comfy chair to curl up in. The leather chair was a classic but not something to curl up with a good book in. read more

We had the most shocking experience at timber Cove yesterday. We booked a dinner reservation online and upon arrival found out there was a private event happening. First of all We were made to feel like it was our fault we had booked the reservation through their app that clearly they forgot to black out. This was after driving 45 minutes up the coast with our four year-old and 96-year-old grandmother. Mistakes happen, and fortunately it was still early enough in the day, oh well. Now the event was not even happening, staff was still setting up chairs and there was no active party or guests anywhere. I asked if I could use the restroom before we drove 45 minutes back down the coast. I'm very clearly pregnant and needed to pee! I was told no that I could not, and that I needed to vacate the premises immediately because there was a private event! An event that was not happening anywhere in the area we were!. I was fairly shocked by this answer. I asked to talk to the manager and was told I was talking to the manager. This made me even more shocked that this is how a manager would handle this situation! Recall the only reason we are in the MIDDLE OF NO WHERE, hungry and with full bladders is due to a mistake on THEIR END. Clearly, there was a restroom somewhere on the entire property I could've used. But instead, she told me she would escort me off the property and then watched me waddle all the way back to my car. I guess she wanted me to loose my bladder in the parking lot? Upper management/and the owner of the establishment should be deeply ashamed of how their manager treated me. We've been coming here every year for 10 years when we come to visit our family and sadly this will absolutely be the last time we ever come up. read more
