I have quite a bit of feedback of this business especially as they finish remodeling and rebranding. Based off the old photos the rooms seem like they have improved a lot so I am hoping they do well overall. Location: 5/5 It's right in front of the beach, you get a nice view of your room faces the bay and there's a small coffee shop, local burgers and hot dogs, and post office next door, also Fishetarian is so close! Great for a coasty vibe and a beer. Check-In/ Check-Out and staffing: 2/5 Upon arrival (around 1pm) we were told our room wasn't ready and we could not check in until 4pm. The lady at the front was very friendly and offered us some chocolate while she processed our payment. Once checked in, process was smooth but what really upset us was the limited staffing they have on site generally. No one is there at check out (11am) and they don't arrive until between 1-4 which isn't good for a hospitality business. Overnight our neighbors were up until 5AM. Drinking and smoking cigarettes on their balcony so we weren't able to enjoy our outdoor space. There was no one to call and notify to tell them to keep it down. They were also jumping or dropping furniture idk it was loud thuds though, so I'm sure the people below them were annoyed too. In the morning we requested a different room and they were apologetic but did not find us a new place and thankfully our neighbors checked out. I really hope Bodega Coast Inn followed up with them because they were an inconsiderate group of adults acting like they were in college. Definitely ruined our night and made the next morning hard to enjoy because we were so tired. I also requested a complimentary night but they ghosted me and stopped responding. The room: 3/5 Beautiful renovated room with a mid century modern vibe. Only complaint is the shower. It was clean but the way the glass half-wall is situated splashes water EVERYWHERE. If they don't address this, they will need to do a lot of maintenance on floor repairs for water damage. We had to lay a towel on the floor each time we showered. The property was also undergoing renovations and there was no noise at night but the spa wasn't operating or in good condition. Generally I would recommend this place. But I hope they staff someone to be available overnight for noise complaints because it can easily become a party room without anyone from the company knowing and guests not having a good experience. read more

Hotel Dega, formerly called Bodega Coast Inn & Suites: Check-in was a breeze, and the front desk gal was an absolute delight--charming, efficient, and clearly winning at hospitality. First impressions of the king suite were great: stylish, modern, and freshly updated. Unfortunately, it also came with a side of "Eau de Pine-Sol" so intense it could qualify as a third guest. We opened every window and door in a desperate attempt to air it out, but the scent stood its ground like a pine-scented fog of war. By bedtime, my sinuses were staging a protest, and the birthday getaway vibe had definitely taken a hit. The silver lining? By morning, we could breathe like humans again. Now, about those windows: charming in theory, but none of them had screens. The bedroom window opened right onto a sidewalk, which meant a parade of passing strangers just a few feet away. With no A/C and a security risk that felt more "live stage performance" than "private suite," we ended up sweating it out with the windows closed. The bed also had... character. The headboard was completely detached from the wall, and according to my husband, his side of the bed offered a gentle downhill slope--ideal for sledding, not so much for sleeping. All that said, I actually really like this place. It has great bones and a lot of potential they're actively working on. I'd absolutely come back, but next time I'll book a second or third-floor room, and I'll be calling ahead to make sure it doesn't smell like a pine forest exploded indoors. read more

This place is okay. They get a lot of complaints and have horrible ratings on Expedia. Especially the person at the desk (Karen). But We have stayed here before, and it was okay. This time it was okay, The room was clean. Everything worked. But I didn't try to use the Spa. It's not newly painted and up to Embassy Suites standards - but it was okay. Rates are high...but it's Bodega Bay and it's Chowder Weekend! Our view was fine - except for a tree - but again, it's Bodega Bay. And for all the haters out there, it's IMPOSSIBLE for every room to have a great view. The person at the front desk was very nice and friendly. And Helpful! When she noticed we were there for two nights - Shen gave me a second log for the fire. Said her name was Susan so not Karen. (if there is a Karen). My BIGGEST Problem was that the cancellation policy was very vague. And I wanted to clarify it BEFORE my time expired and I would lose money. Again, What's the deal with all the complaints?? We walked on in and asked for availability and were given a room w a queen and balcony. Lots of ample parking, a little relief area, dog friendly, balconies, workout area, pool table upstairs, jacuzzi outdoors, free water refill station and ice out back, keypad pin entry. We loved our room! Amazing view of the water, moon, extremely clean room, filled coffee pods, the most comfortable mattress, nice size television with all channels and apps. Bathroom was lovely, lots of towels, nice shower, great pressure, clean sheets and blankets, smelled great in room, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, very pleased with our balcony view, quiet, peaceful, and walk away from all restaurants, shops, and beach front. The woman checking us in, I forgot to ask her name, older beautiful woman, so sweet, kind, and welcoming, with a permanent smile greeted us, and treated us well. Highly recommend! We'll come back here in a heartbeat for another little beach retreat. read more

THIS PLACE IS SCAMMING PEOPLE!! I booked a room here for my boyfriend's birthday SPECIFICALLY because they advertised in-room spas. I did not book through a third party, or even online, because I was adamant about getting a room with a hot tub. I called to book, spoke to a woman who reserved a room with a tub for me. She never mentioned that they did not have the in-room spas anymore. When we arrived, we were about 2 hours early for check in (check in time was 4pm, which is kinda ridiculous considering check out is 11am and the room was $300), but we wanted to check to see if by chance our room was available. When we walked into the lobby, the employee didn't even greet us. She stared at us and finally said "You're too early. Only one housekeeper showed up so the best I can do is 4:00). We didn't expect to check in early, but the first impression of the service was not a good one. When we came back at 4pm to check in, I verified that they had us down for a room with a tub. The woman confirmed, but then said it wasn't a spa and that they had removed all spas from the hotel. I didn't cause a scene, but internally I was LIVID! Not only did the sign outside of their hotel still say they had in-room spas, but there are still pictures of these heart-shaped hot tubs on their website!! The woman at the front desk said she would try to get a discount for me due to the inconvenience, and I was happy about that. When we checked out, the lobby was closed (wtf?) so we had to go back a couple hours later, and she confirmed I would get the discount. It's been a week since my stay and I never received such discount. My card was charged the full amount. I was warned about the renovations happening on the property, but it was BAD. There were boxes and pickup trucks all throughout the property. When we tried to drive to our room, a U-Haul moving truck was blocking the road and had to be moved by one of the contractors. It looked messy and unwelcoming outside. The room itself was not bad, which is the only reason why we stayed. It looked like it had been updated. There were fake wood floors, an electric fireplace, and there was at least a nice bath tub, but definitely not the same as a hot tub. I was initially going to give this place 3 stars, but the fact that I never received the discount really put an even worse taste in my mouth. I should have read reviews prior to booking as our experience was in line with other reviews that rated this business poorly. When we arrived I noticed the furniture and walls were very dusty and stains on the walls. If I could get a refund, we would have left. The bathtub/shower didn't drain properly. Booked this place for my parents 30th wedding anniversary get away. Pictures made it look like a nice place to stay. Well..... bathroom shower door didn't work, dad told desk said maintenance would come never did, called for more coffee pods and for their room to be cleaned and sheets changed, never came, my dad had to go to the desk to get more towels to wipe up the floor, didn't offer to give them a new room or anything! I told them they won't be staying here again and the only reason you get 3 Stars is because they said they had a niece view. read more

Do not book a room here.  The entire property is in disarray, boxes of flooring, carpet rolls, trash and plastic all over the place.  Literally, everywhere.  No one at the office to check in at 350pm, text a phone number, and they said someone was there.  FALSE, no one was there - and actually - after I walked the property - it didn't feel safe, clean nor a place anyone should pay money to stay at.  I have traveled all over the world, no hotel ever, has been this misrepresented on their website and this poorly maintained.   You could drive thru a ghetto in Oakland, Modesto, Bakersfield and LA and find better. read more

Staff was nice and room was adorable. I did somehow was given the handicap room, which was fine, nice and roomy. The only thing I would suggest is dark out curtains. The porch light was very bright and lit up the room, but the room was clean and very comfortable. The only issue I fax was the room above was so noisy, I thought they were practicing gymnastics. I called the office to let them know. She said she would reach out to them. I know she did cause it stopped for a few minutes and then it got increasingly louder like they did it on purpose. I know it's not the hotel's fault but they finally stopped after 11 and then started again the next morning around 715 other than that I will book this hotel if I'm in the area again. read more

We absolutely loved this place. There were four of us on this trip. The jacuzzi was so nice in the evening. We stayed in a suit. It was fully equipped with pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, a stove with an oven and a full size refrigerator + freezer ( so nice to cook meals with the groceries we bought at the market). It has a separate bedroom and a sofa sleeper which was surprisingly comfortable. The staff gave us an extra comforter for the sofa. The fireplace added nive ambience. There was a television in the bedroom as well as the livingroom. The bay is right across the street so in the mornings we had our coffee sitting on the benches looking out at the water. There's a coffee shop close by that sells ice cream and restaurants that are walkable. 10 out of 10 highly recommend! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. First impression... dark, overpriced, poorly maintained hotel. Our first night was FREEZING, we tried to adjust the thermostat and it was obvious it hasn't been touched in years, we turned it off after 1 minute of musty, mildewy dust being blown. Sheets are itchy, ceiling had cobwebs hanging, and there was cosmetic damage that no one bothered to fix or attempt to make look nice. We were going to deal with it and look past it, we just needed somewhere safe to sleep with our young children. Our second night we arrived back to find our door cracked open and lights on. Before leaving in the morning, we had turned off all the lights and fully closed the door. On further investigation we noticed the window unlatched and the door frame where the deadbolt is, was loose and could easily be pushed open. We used the deadbolt on our first night so we know the frame wasn't loose like that. It felt like someone had set the room to be re-entered and we no longer felt safe so we didn't stay there. We couldn't get ahold of the innkeeper, Karen, that night so we decided to reach out in the morning to let her know of the safety concern and hopefully get a refund for the days we wouldn't be staying. Upon calling Karen in the morning we begin to tell her what happened and get interrupted by her accusing us of leaving the door open "no one went to your room so you must have left it open". She was so incredibly defensive from the moment we began just recounting what happened, it made me feel like she may have gone in our room to sweep it for valuables. It was really bizarre. She continued to be defensive and argue through out the whole phone call, contradicting herself repeatedly. She even accused us of having a pet in our room and how that room was not pet friendly (we don't have a pet!). Nothing was stolen (mainly because we had nothing of value left in there I assume) we just didn't feel safe staying there with our young children anymore and wanted a refund for the days we wouldn't be there. It doesn't seem like an outrageous request. If we would have been staying at a hotel where there was any kind of humanity they would have understood and refunded the money. I have never had someone react so defensively and argumentatively. We weren't accusing her ever but maybe we should have. Anyways, do not stay here. Please save your money!!! read more

Update: Just scrolled down and saw the MULTIPLE violations of the ADA like mine listed. Looking into filing a complaint with the Justice Dept. This is outrageous. Stayed here twice (2016 & 2018) with my service dog and liked it a lot. But this time, I didn't even get a chance because they immediately refused my service dog. They only "recognize" seeing-eye dogs and dogs that "pull a wheelchair."(???) This is blatantly illegal and when I told them so and sent them the ADA guidelines they came back with the appropriate question about the service my dog provides but also repeated that if he isn't a seeing-eye dog or "wheelchair pulling" dog (lol) they were going to charge me a $50 pet fee. Also illegal. When I pointed THAT out, they offered me the room with no mention of a fee at all. No thanks. There are other options. read more

My wife and I stayed here three days and two nights last week (middle of July 2021) and could not have been happier... Most of Northern Coastal California is emerging from some pretty severe closures and tight rules from COVID-19... Some places are having trouble staffing and returning to the gracious service most travelers expect... Not Bodega Coast Inn... We were greeted as if we were the only guests due our first day -- we weren't, but it felt good to be treated that way... Our room was clean, properly prepared and convenient... We had a view of Bodega Bay that the word "spectacular" fails to even come close... I am eighty years old... The quality of the mattress in a hotel is not a life and death matter -- it's a bit more serious than that... The beds in our room were beyond anything we could have imagined... Yeah, all manner of businesses -- particularly hospitality -- are struggling to return to the pre-pandemic levels of service and amenities... Bodega Coast Inn is way ahead of the curve... One of the Bodega Bay events that we regularly attended was the end of season crab feed at the community lodge in December or January... The moment it is announced, we will sign up... We stayed here for one night and had a decent experience. I appreciate the location being just a short walk or drive to Fishterian and The Tides. We had a smooth check-in with the front desk attendant (not sure if this was the infamous Karen that many Yelpers write about). Our room was clean and had a nice view of the water, which we could enjoy from our balcony. It was a chilly day/night, so I was ecstatic about the fireplace in the room and that they provided us with a log. We did, however, burn through the first log and tried to call for another. We were connected to some third-party customer service agent who said she would contact the manager to see if she was awake to get us another log. She must have been sleeping since we never heard back. If you need anything at night (extra blankets, towels, fire logs, etc.), I wouldn't expect to get it. But I'll just know that for next time. Despite there being many cars in the parking lot, the property was extremely quiet at night, which I appreciated. There was, however, construction going on in the early morning that woke us up earlier than we intended. Overall, we enjoyed our time, and I wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

If they cannot handle taking my reservation, why would I expect anything better when I got there. Then I check on trying to make a reservation online. We spent Christmas night here while visiting family in the area. I can honestly say that the service we received was second to none. The staff, knowing I would be accompanied by my elementary aged son, left a Christmas stocking and beautifully wrapped package on our bed. The stocking was filled with treats, goodies, a lovely necklace, and a few other knick knacks. The real kicker was the gift. My son excitedly ripped into the package to find a children's Microscope set! He was beyond thrilled, as we're we. I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with the manager Karen this morning, and she was simply wonderful. Although I have stayed here before, I will never forget the thoughtfulness of Karen and the rest of the staff, they certainly have earned 10 stars from my family for how they closed out our Christmas celebration. Safety warning! At check in, the woman at the desk kept repeating herself about the filtered water we could get near the ice machine. Seemed odd but we didn't think anything of it until we got to the room. They have SERIOUS PLUMBING PROBLEMS!!!! Flush the toilet, feces flows up from the drain in the tub. Neighbors run the shower: more feces in the tub. On top of this, I was charged $50 pet deposit even though I didn't bring a pet. Refused to refund any money, citing the filter near the ice machine and that the website "clearly says we have to pay for the pet deposit ". There's a small and cryptic statement about the pet deposit but it's far from clear that you have to pay it even if you don't have pets, and at the payment page it was never included. Shady business practices aside, the water safety is certainly the larger issue. Avoid this place at any price! read more

We have reservations with Bodega Coast inn for 12/27/23-12/30/23. We needed to change the date when we were going to leave and to give them a new credit card to use. I've spent since 12/14/23 trying to call them, actually making over 85 calls and 5 emails. Their phone doesn't go through, it always says "user busy". We tried using our different phones and a landline from my daughters job, which is a hospital foundation in Sacramento. As of today, 12/19,23, the phone is still not going through and says "user busy". They have not answered my emails from the ones they have. Which is for reservations and the Innkeeper. The phone problems were going on months ago also. I asked them about it and they said nothing is wrong?? Find that hard to believe. I just had to write a note and overnight the note cancelling our reservations through "FedEX". That bill cost me $40.00 to cancel my reservation!!! We have been staying at this hotel for years when we don't rent the beach house for the holidays. Totally disappointed with this hotel and not sure whether we will stay there or not. Wish I would of read the reviews on Yelp first. We booked last minute while on a road trip that we wanted to extend. The receptionist wore a mask half on was sick and kept saying she had asthma then admitted her doctor said it was for guest protection cause she had a fever. Which if that's the case she shouldn't have been working. I work in health care so I just shrugged it off. To each there own. When we got to our room the first thing I do is always check the sheets. They were stained and dirty down to the mattress pad covered in hair and stains. I called the front desk and the receptionist went straight I to denial and defense mode. Finally after a ton of excuses she booked us a different room. Sheets were clean but still left a bad vibe. The place has potential but after reading the reviews have a feeling the receptionist/owner is trying to save buck and cutting corners to offer a better stay for her guest. No hot tub and no in room spa. You'll get a nice notice after you book about them being closed. read more

We booked a 2 bed room for 4 people, and we only came for 2 people to check in because we were camping at the beach. We just asked if it's possible to add two kids under 2 year old. She said no , and we have to book one more room because 6 people. We said ok and only stay with 2 adults and 2 kids. She said no again because we asked for 6 people and no change. She said we can not take this room anymore because we asked 6 people, so we have to take 2 rooms to get a discount. My sister and I came here for the weekend. The 5 min walk to the beach was not a beach at all just over run of water with warnings signs for mud flats. That wasn't the worst the customer service was not very welcoming, ther was construction going on and no hot tub. My sister paid over 800.00 for two nights for what?. Karen the part owner is VERY rude as well as very Unaccommodating to me, my disability and my service dog. I have letters snd my dog is a REAL service animal. She lied and said that all hotels in California charge $75 a night for all dogs except seeing eye dogs or a dog that can pull a wheelchair. This is a total LIE. I had my doctor orders. Certifications and everything but she refused because my dog is small. When we first got to the room it wasn't even complete. All their cleaning supplies were left in the room. Annual family trip to this area and we thought we would try this hotel.... well we won't be back. We walked in room and bathroom smelled like sewer. The bathroom floor was FREEZING. Tile in bathroom floor loose and moved when stepping on them. The view is of the water however NOT ocean view. For $300 this room left a lot to be desired. Room does have a patio with table and chairs but screen door to patio was ripped and bent. Hard to slide open and doesn't close. We wanted so much for this to be a nice place but it wasn't. To provide some context to my review I will start by saying, I have stayed at this establishment in the past for fishing trips out of the harbor as well as my birthdays previous. This year for my birthday I decided a break to the ocean would be a nice way to help relax. I recently loss my mother at the age of 56 in her sleep while at home with me. We had planned to visit the ocean again together for our birthdays but as life would have it, she couldn't make it. While every min of my trip was beautiful, essentially blessed with 72° and sunshine for my birthday on the beach and an amazing dinner at the warf. I decided to grab a bottle of champagne and head to check in. I will say from the moment I came in and said hello I could sense something off (I later realized the inn keeper was on edge because I wasn't wearing a mask). I informed her I was there to check in, I was alone, with a service animal. She immediately was triggered and began to tell me she dosent have to allow him or I to stay and it was 50$ fee for animals. I responded i had problem with paying whatever they thought they needed as long as my animal was permitted. I pulled up my certification stating he was a service animal, when she rudely cuz me off again, responding, "I don't give a damn what your paperwork says". Dumbfounded at why she was choosing to be so abrasive, I asked if "I offended her?" Because her response was very uncalled for an rude. She then said I was being out of line for asking her why she's acting in such a manor and I needed to leave.i let her know i drove 4.5hrs to stay here for my birthday and she was being completely unreasonable..she responded with, "well good for you" and canceled my reservations without giving me a refund of $327.98 for 1 night stay. She also threatened me with being deplatformed from priceline annnnd she threatened to "KEEP ME FROM GETTING A ROOM ANYWHERE IN BODEGA"..Unknown to her,I stayed down the street the night before and was already on my phone booking another night at INN AT THE TIDES. A place with actual human beings working the desk. AND was welcomed with my service animal, even at the resturant and the pool area. She ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to give me her name, an not until I reached thru her plexiglass divider an grabbed her card off the desk did I See her NAME WAS KAREN ...I honestly wasn't even mad she attempted to sabotage my experience cuz I had an amazing trip. But having her treat me like she did , completely unempathetic to the fact I traveled a great distance and it was my birthday. It actually made her ruder I wasn't even alloted room to speak as she spoke over me and cut me off at every single turn..As a TRUE KAREN she kept strong to her condescending attitude and self appointed power position. The real issue issss. After looking at alll the reviews online IM not the only PERSON who's had their trip to the coast hit the road block of KARENs TOXIC ENERGY... an i feel bad for all the people whove travels to enjoy bodega bay and had to deal with her gate keeper persona. We had a great stay at Bodega Coast Inn. We arrived to a family friendly, pet friendly, lovely landscaped property right by the water. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, larger than a typical hotel room. The patio was my favorite part of the room and I spent lots of time out there soaking up the sunshine and the beautiful views. What a bummer. The pillows smelled like that towel your teenage son washed and only half dried before putting it in the closet. The stench was too much. Went without! Bonus pain, the people upstairs were playing loud music. We asked for help from the office, the music stopped but the yelling and jumping up and down began. That continued till 4 am. read more

We spent last night in the suites and were absolutely disgusted. We couldn't even use the spa in the room and that's what we went for since I'm pregnant and have been wanting to use one. We turned the water on and it was yellow, turned the jets on to make sure it was clean and filth came out of it!! The next morning the bath looked so nasty. WE DID NOT USE IT AFTER THAT. Also when my fiancé went to clean the bath, he cut his leg open on the cement side of the tub. Super dirty and unsafe. Office said this is normal for them and nothing they can do about it. Our family has been staying here 2-3 times per year for many years. We were here a month ago and had a decent enough experience, despite the COVID-19 impact on routine house keeping and the loss of the continental breakfast. This place has been treasured by us as the "go to place to stay." We've recommended it to friends and colleagues on multiple occasions as a hidden gem. However, the new manager and staff are extremely rude and lack all heart for customer service. EXAMPLE of one interaction during our current stay: We asked for towels as there were 3 people booked for the 4 night stay in our room and only had enough towels for 2 people. When we asked for more towels, her response was "you just got here yesterday." She handed us two towels saying "that's all you get for the rest of your stay. Or you can check out now if you'd like." Such rudeness was unprovoked; the request was incredibly reasonable, especially since there are No Housekeeping services provided. When we referred to the sign in the lobby that states you can request new towels, she had no response. Upon booking our stay over the phone, we were told that we are "valued, preferred guests" due to our history of staying here. If this is how you treat your preferred, guests, I'm embarrassed for your establishment. Due to the disrespectful atmosphere, we will not be staying here again and can only discourage others from staying here as we would never want anyone to have such a sour, unwelcome experience on their family holiday. We are very disappointed and recommend that you address your staff before you loose more guests to this changed reputation of rudeness. read more

Staff were extremely thoughtful and accommodating. I stayed with my dog and the staff took the care to inform me that they had seen a fox roaming the grounds. My stay was over the christmas holiday and I unexpectedly found gifts for both myself and my dog hanging from the door Christmas morning. It was an absolute joy. Regarding the physical accommodations themselves, the rooms are comfortable and sizeable. If you are a birder, this is the perfect hotel. The "bird walk" is easily reached on foot. There is also a wonderful view of the marsh from the bay-facing rooms. I want to be generous, so here are some pluses: 1. Bay view but obstructed by power lines. 2. Good free wifi 3. Vaulted ceiling room, enough space for 2 adults for 2 night weekend stay. But tiny wall heater could not heat the room adequately. 4. Topiary landscaping to detract from the motel experience (regardless of the "suites" in the name). Not sure what constitutes a "suite" or how many rooms are "suites". Now for some items that i noticed: 1. 30+ year old motel with dated furnishings. If it ain't broke don't replace/update it, I presume. 2. Thin walls where outside conversations and toddlers can be heard at night/early morning. 3. Ants by the desk, so careful using the microwave or coffee maker. 4. Due to COVID, no maid service, no pool, no continental breakfast. Rate should reflect reduced amenities or services. Staff are masked, but guests not so much, as I noticed. 5. Plastic cups in the bathroom. Slow drain in bath and sink. Cheap and tiny bath amenities, so bring shampoo, body wash for a multi-day stay. 6. Inadequate designated disabled parking spaces. Only 2 DP spots, but one is reserved for their ADA room, regardless if guest has DP plate/placard or not. 7. No charging stations for EV cars. 8. At a weekend rate of $309/night, for a few $ more, there are alternatives in the area for a more satisfying/upscale experience. 9. Not sure how booking.com can rate this motel with 3 stars, when BB Lodge next door has 4 stars. If this place was realistically rated 2 star, I would've booked elsewhere. After spending over$2,200+. the prior week for 4 nights in Carmel for car week, I felt duped for paying $700+ for 2 nights here. Looking for an 80s motel experience at $300+ per night, then this is a great place for you. read more

We LOVE BODEGA BAY. We actually had no other choice than to book a room here. Sadly we did. Never again. Staff is very rude. Especially the Blonde Lady at the front desk. She just talks and talks to get to your room or to get the booking. The room was okay at best. The toilet is too small and low to the ground. No bars on the wall to help get up or down. The patio is supposedly one of the best rated views. Tops of the cars is the view we truly had. Never again. Oh yeah and the Maintenance Man lives in one of the rooms above where we stayed. Smoking on the patio. Smelled like cigarettes all day and all night. Gross. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I should have read the reviews before booking our stay. Everything that everyone else has posted has to be true after my experience with the hotel manager. We were coming up from souther California to help move my son into a dorm for the summer at the marine lab. I had booked thru southwest because I have a small business and I like to earn points. Well on southwest I could not book a second night so in the comments I asked if they had a room for the second night of our stay. We had a 10 hour drive and I didn't see the reply back that yes they did have a room for two nights. Great. So we get to the hotel it's nice and we meet the hotel manager. I gather from the other reviews her name is Karen. She stated to me that she would be extending the price of booking.com for two nights and that the room had smaller beds but for two nights. That was fine, great even and I thanked her. We went out to dinner and came back to the room and realized there wasn't a tv remote in the room. I tried using the side buttons on the tv but it runs thru a cable box. You can't change the channel on the side buttons. So, I called the office but they did not answer. Next morning we get up and the hair dryer was not working. My mom called the office and Karen answered saying it was before the office was open. It was 8:01 am and she said my mom needed to go to the office to get the replacement hair dryer. Karen was not in the office and brought it outside to my mom and gave her a hard time about it. She wouldn't look at my mom and was yelling "I don't open until 8 o clock" then she unlocked the door and then pecked at the clock that it was 8:08. People complain and your using it wrong. These are special hotel hair dryers etc. my mom is a sweet 1st grade teacher of like 30 years so I'm not sure why this woman was being so difficult. So my mom said the tv was missing the remote and she said she would ask the cleaning lady if she took it. So the hair dryer worked fine the new one that she gave. Later after moving my son into his dorm we returned to the room about 3pm. We tried the remote but it didn't work. Ironically Karen magically called the room at that moment, and the believe the post about hidden cameras and I'll get to why. So Karen tells me that she wants me to read off my credit card information to her because she needed to charge me for the second night. I said no problem and said hey the tv hasn't worked all night and wanted to be compensated in some form of a discount. She demanded that the room was discounted and that I did not respond to booking.com to charge the second night and they declined the discount. So now im confused. Also what everyone said about her talking over you and not letting you speak. That's all true. So I asked her multiple times to stop yelling at me and listen to what I was saying she wouldn't. She said there was not requirement to have a working tv and that I was too lazy and stupid to change it on the side of the tv. She said everyone else hasn't had any complaints and I was like yes because probably the last person in the room took or accidentally took the remote. It wasn't at this point about the remote it was that this woman was nasty and uncaring. She kept saying she had a recording of me and I said please let's review it together. Then I asked if I've been charged for the second night or can I leave. She got upset and said if I didn't stay that she would call every hotel in bodega bay and I wouldn't be able to stay anyone. Now I was mad and I said that's bullshit. I haven't done anything to deserve that. She was raising her voice, over talking and saying I was harassing her. I never did give my card information over the phone and thank god I didn't after reading about the credit card theft. I called booking.com. They are disgusted with the behavior from the hotel. They said she lied, she never reached out to them. They said to leave. So we left. I took pictures so she can't accuse me of anything because she seems like she's the type of woman who would. I have video dropping the key in the box. We are staying at a hotel nearby and it's beautiful. Do not stay at this hotel. If she's not the owner, the owner needs to seriously fire her. read more
