Timber Cove Resort - complimentary anniversary dessert

Timber Cove Resort

I'm surprised by the negative reviews. We spent Labor Day weekend at Timber Cove and loved it. We…read moresaw seals, pelicans, turkey vultures, and the Milky Way, and from our ocean view room we watched humpback whales migrate south from the Adirondack chairs on our deck. We took sunrise walks along the coast (about half an hour on the property), and when we wanted a break, there was foosball, pool, and board games. The restaurant is a big deal out there, since the next closest option is a ten minute drive. We ate nine meals there and worked through most of the menu. The crab cakes and seasonal salad were our favorites. The only miss was the salmon wings. Everything else was great. We'll be back soon!

Now that we're on the Sonoma coast quite often I wasn't quite ready for a sit down, so I decided to take the chowder to go. According to the hostess, the bar staff would take my to go order. So I probably sat at the bar for I want to think about five minutes before I was even acknowledged that's very disappointing. it really gives you a dismissive feeling when other guests are being intended. I'm not talking about a large group 4 down to two people, and I honestly felt ignored. Any way I waited patiently and was finally asked if I could be helped so I said yeah I wanna place it to go order. I'm kind of driving down the road and I just wanna take it to go. That was no problem. I wandered around the property, which is really lovely while I waited for my chowder. My receipt came to approximately $37 for my to go order of only two servings of chowder. I served it that evening, along with a salad and some filet mignon in the comfort of our own accommodations. While the flavor was whatever I remembered, it was a great flavor. It's rich and it's definitely comfort food. However, the potatoes were all raw basically uncooked not at all what I would expect for a seafood chowder. While the potatoes should be not mushy, these were just nearly raw. After the anticipation of looking forward to enjoying and sharing this dish, I feel pretty disappointed. So I can cross this one off my foodie bucket list. Been there done that was just OK. #coastkitchen

A special thank you to Alex, who helped me with my reservations and went above and beyond to accommodate me. Alex was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and made the entire experience that much better. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. You're surrounded by nature and incredible trees, which makes the whole place feel peaceful, private, and relaxing. The swimming pool and hot tub are amazing and the perfect places to unwind while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The food and snacks were also excellent, and the wine was delicious! Everything about Boon feels thoughtfully done, from the atmosphere and amenities to the hospitality. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature with great food, wine, and wonderful service, I highly recommend Boon Hotel + Spa. I can't wait to come back!

We stayed in the glamping tents (all the rooms were booked, so we decided to give them a chance!). The tent was nice and cozy with a heating blanket on the bed in case it gets cold, and a fan in case it gets hot. They provide locks for you to lock the tent when you leave. The tent has electricity, plug ins for your chargers or blow dryer, etc., clean outdoor showers, flush toilets, and sinks. The water in the shower got nice and warm. The care that they put into this place is incredible. Lighted votive candles in glass lanterns and string lights illuminated every night, continental breakfast included in your stay and brought to you at the time of your choosing every morning, a welcome cocktail when you check in, complementary bikes that you can ride around town, fire pits, yoga "studio", and the pool and spa with the honor bar that are open 24/7. We really enjoyed our stay here. We had plans for our anniversary while we were there, but I would like go back to simply enjoy the amenities next time! It is a 21 and older "resort" right next to ethereal giant redwoods. Gah ... Need I say more?!

The property has direct access to the river, including a small dock where you can fish, which was a highlight for our family. There's also a lovely fire pit area, and the s'mores kits were such a fun touch for the kids. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the morning. The large grassy area was perfect for the kids to run around and play, and there are plenty of games available as well, including board games and Jenga. These little touches made it easy for the kids to stay entertained and enjoy the property. The rooms are on the smaller side, but having a mini refrigerator in each room was incredibly helpful when traveling with kids, especially with a larger family group. The owners were exceptionally nice, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. It's clear that they take a lot of pride in the property and genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. It's a charming, family-friendly spot with thoughtful amenities and a beautiful setting right on the Russian River. It was especially nice having a place where our entire family could stay together and enjoy the property.

5 star stay all th way. We came out with family for the week and had plans to go to the beach and…read moresee other parts of the river but it was pointless. For us this place had it all. Downtown was a short walk (groceries, pizza, sandwiches, anything you need) and on the property there were kitchen spaces for us to hang out with plenty to do on the property. Rooms #11 & 12 were amazing. 11 is the larger room and larger bathroom with 2 full beds. 12 has a pullout sofa and full bed. Easily sleeps 2 couples in each room or mom and dad and 2 kids, but that's not what you're there for. Outside (if you take both spaces) is a large outdoor deck divided in half by a wall but connected so you can get from one room to the other. It has a shared yard beyond that. The landscaping is amazing. The property is on the river with tons of space to chill in the water. They have a deck for the facility and everyone can use it. It's shared so be prepared to be with other people but it is a place that seems to attract a good crowd. Everyone who we ran into there was nice. Another thing on the property they was cool was coffee, fresh ice cold filtered water, popcorn, and the front desk made the kids cotton candy daily. There is an ice machine there as well so you can roast in the sun and drink ice cold filtered water till you pop. That part of the place is in the outdoor kitchen which is community and has board games and seating for everyone. Outside the kitchen is bathrooms and seating areas. 2 fireplaces for s'mores and I believe a bbq pit (I can't remember we have a travel size Traegar they let us use) as well. If I were to get married or have a party it would 1000% be here. I think there is 12 rooms and I'd rent the whole spot for it without even thinking twice. Maybe bring extra help to keep the party rolling but this place legit is perfect for it. They also have like a VIP outdoor seating area we didn't end up getting but has a TV and some "roped off" area to hang out at that is an amazing setup. I can keep going but we loved this place. Even upon arrival our room had spiders have babies in the room (happens yall it's on the river and def outdoorsy) and my wife felt awkward asking because we didn't want to sound like the complaining people but we asked for a vacuum to get them out. The lady actually came in the room and helped us. 5 star stay. 5 star people, oh and being a licensed contractor and getting along with people who work, the people who kept the grounds were cool too. Super nice to our kids, and when you see the landscape, you can tell they are good at their job. Can't say enough good stuff. We will be back.

The hot tub was fantastic and clean, and the pool and sauna were also well maintained. The outdoor music was great and created a nice atmosphere. However, the overall upkeep of the property could use more attention. There were dishes and glasses left sitting around, and I ended up bringing some back to Drake's myself because they were an eyesore. More frequent cleanup and attention to the common areas would make a noticeable difference. The porches also need some maintenance or refurbishment, as two people ended up getting splinters from them. At the Lounge restaurant, the lighting was too bright for a relaxing dining atmosphere. Some background music indoors would also help soften the sound of conversations and create a more inviting ambiance, especially since the outdoor music was so enjoyable. My sea bass or black cod was cooked nicely, but the overall dish was disappointing. The soupy bean sauce with fish on top didn't work particularly well, and the dish could have benefited from a vegetable or a more complementary starch rather than the heavy, soup-like combination. The mussels were overcooked and rubbery, and the fries didn't taste fresh. Staffing also seemed inadequate for a Saturday night, with only two people covering both indoor and outdoor areas. This meant waiting a long time for everything, but Daisy did her best. Drinks from the bar were great too. The bartender (blonde woman) was lovely and makes a great Negroni. Overall, there are some genuinely wonderful amenities here, particularly the clean pool, sauna, and hot tub. With better maintenance, more attentive housekeeping, improved restaurant execution, and adequate staffing, the experience could be better. There is a lot to like, but details matter and deserve attention too. I'll still come back, but hope they read this and consider the above. Enjoy!
