Picture of my girlfriend's foot after stepping on the glass

I would not recommend staying at Hotel Dega. My girlfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary from April 10th to April 12th and had a terrible experience. We paid almost $600 for two nights, but the room was dirty and unsafe. When we arrived, there were poop stains in the toilet, crumbs all over the floor, and no shampoo. We asked for shampoo multiple times, but no one ever brought it. When we went to the lobby to get some ourselves, the front desk worker had to pour soap into a coffee cup because they were out. The worst part was our last night when my girlfriend stepped off the bed and cut her foot on broken glass that was left in the rug. We found even more pieces of glass after looking closer, which proves they never vacuumed. We told the staff and asked for a refund, and they told us they would need to speak to their management team first, which was fine with us. However, the following morning on check-out day, we sent a text asking for an update on the situation. They completely ignored the question and just sent a scripted goodbye text. I have emailed them twice and reached out to both Hotel Dega and the Somers Collection through Instagram DMs and comments over the last five days, but I have received no response. To make matters worse, I called customer service to speak to someone. They put me on hold and then hung up on me. When I tried to call back, they continuously declined my calls and eventually blocked my number. I actually had to call from a completely different phone just to get through to someone again. This hotel has extremely poor cleaning standards and clearly flees from conflict to avoid taking accountability for their mistakes. I wouldn't recommend staying there at all.

    Half-open shower stall?

Different way of checking in for a hotel. It's all via text and mobile. You receive constant IMs from the host -- many helpful, but some not so much. (e.g., their online system for providing a credit card for incidentals never worked after three texts about it.) The host is very responsive to IMs. Check-in was very pleasant and efficient. It's all keyless entry. The rooms appeared to be recently renovated, probably in line with the name change (from Bodega Coast Inn and Suites.) The shower stalls are odd, as there is only a half glass door on the furthest portion, so water pools on the handle side on the floor! It takes one bath towel to soak it all up! But, at least you know the floors are clean. No bar/hand soap, so bring your own or use the body wash supplied. Also, since we're on the coast, there is no A/C. However, there should be a screen door on the slider to get fresh air in and to keep critters out, no? Odd. Parking is adequate for the size of the property.

Our anniversary stay at Hotel Dega has been absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. Everything has been perfect -- we truly have not had a single complaint. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. Every space felt well cared for, and the atmosphere made it so easy to relax and enjoy our time together. We are especially grateful to Lisa, the manager, who went above and beyond to surprise us for our anniversary. We walked into balloons, rose petals, and the most thoughtful details that made us feel truly celebrated. It wasn't just the decorations -- it was the care and intention behind them that meant so much to us. Hospitality like this is rare. We feel so thankful for the way we've been treated and for the beautiful memories created here. Thank you, Lisa, and the entire team at Hotel Dega for making our anniversary so special. We are leaving very happy and very grateful -- and we will absolutely be back.

Bailey was incredibly helpful and the property was amazing. The rooms are clean and nicely set up.

Totally adorable cozy hotel. Perfect location next to bay! Our room, 122 might have been the best location. It had a view of the bay and a soaking tub. Very easy check in. I highly recommend.

Great hotel, amazing staff, awesome views, and as cozy as it gets! The front desk lady Lisa was honestly our highlight. My fiancée and I went to bodega as a short trip after the proposal. Lisa was so personable. I don't mean in a forced-overly polite- typical hotel staff way, I mean in a genuine down to earth way that can't be trained. Also huge shoutout for the bathtub.

A Peaceful Getaway with Stunning Views…read more We stayed at The Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay while celebrating a birthday trip from the San Jose region in mid-January, and we could not have asked for better weather. It was sunny every day with temperatures in the mid-60s, which made Bodega Bay feel like a perfect winter escape. The week before it had been raining like crazy and some areas had been flooded. We really lucked out! The hotel is located on a hill, not really next to the water, but because it is situated on the hill, it has great views. Our 2nd story room on the top of the hill was spacious, quiet, and extremely comfortable. The high vaulted ceiling with a skylight made it feel open and airy, and the layout included a couch and small table with chairs, which was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. We also appreciated having a coffee pot and small refrigerator in the room. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We saw deer grazing near the bushes and trees, which added to the peaceful coastal feel. The views are excellent, especially from the second-floor units, overlooking Bodega Bay on one side and rolling grassy hills with cows on the other. The hotel is very quiet and restful. Housekeeping was excellent (thank you Grace), and the front desk staff, Evelyn and Tyler, were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. The wellness center is really nice with a large T-shaped pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, workout room, and shaded tables for sitting, eating, or enjoying a drink. Parking is plentiful with some covered spots, plus the hotel is right next to a 76 gas station, which is very convenient for that long drive home. The hotel restaurant is directly across the street on the water and has great views of the bay. Seals, birds and an occasional fishing boat can be seen. There is another restaurant closer to the hotel rooms but it was closed during our stay. A couple of minor wishes: the workout room could use a large mirror, a few more weights, and maybe even a Concept2 rowing machine (hint, hint). And the TV in our room could also be a bit larger (I know, were not their to watch TV, but we love HGTV!). Lastly, if you do not want to deal with stairs, request a ground-floor room. There are no elevators. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend The Inn at the Tides. It was the perfect home base for our first visit to Bodega Bay. Looking forward to staying there again ... hopefully soon!

Pros: this was a very charming estate and the staff was beyond kind to both of us and our pup. He was welcome everywhere except the dining room, the pool and spa. The room was very cute and clean. The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. They offered to mail them to us, we declined. I don't remember the last time house keeping and the front office too the time to be that considerate.

The room and bathroom are really spacious, clean, and the two king beds are huge in the room. It's a great amount of space for a couple or larger group. Lounging here or in one of the several communal areas is welcoming. The grounds are better kept than many years ago, but there are still some pockets that could use some care. But the reception Chex mix/ wine, movie night with s'mores, lawn games, make the larger property feel cozy. And while I didn't get to the jacuzzi or pool, I wish I had! What made me write this review though, is the gluten free and dairy free options for breakfast. They have homemade bread to toast which had me coming back for seconds. Usually, gluten free is so disappointing, but not here. Delicious! On top of all this was friendly and informative staff. Lovely stay. Hopefully, we'll be back in another 10 years.

I have quite a bit of feedback of this business especially as they finish remodeling and rebranding. Based off the old photos the rooms seem like they have improved a lot so I am hoping they do well overall. Location: 5/5 It's right in front of the beach, you get a nice view of your room faces the bay and there's a small coffee shop, local burgers and hot dogs, and post office next door, also Fishetarian is so close! Great for a coasty vibe and a beer. Check-In/ Check-Out and staffing: 2/5 Upon arrival (around 1pm) we were told our room wasn't ready and we could not check in until 4pm. The lady at the front was very friendly and offered us some chocolate while she processed our payment. Once checked in, process was smooth but what really upset us was the limited staffing they have on site generally. No one is there at check out (11am) and they don't arrive until between 1-4 which isn't good for a hospitality business. Overnight our neighbors were up until 5AM. Drinking and smoking cigarettes on their balcony so we weren't able to enjoy our outdoor space. There was no one to call and notify to tell them to keep it down. They were also jumping or dropping furniture idk it was loud thuds though, so I'm sure the people below them were annoyed too. In the morning we requested a different room and they were apologetic but did not find us a new place and thankfully our neighbors checked out. I really hope Bodega Coast Inn followed up with them because they were an inconsiderate group of adults acting like they were in college. Definitely ruined our night and made the next morning hard to enjoy because we were so tired. I also requested a complimentary night but they ghosted me and stopped responding. The room: 3/5 Beautiful renovated room with a mid century modern vibe. Only complaint is the shower. It was clean but the way the glass half-wall is situated splashes water EVERYWHERE. If they don't address this, they will need to do a lot of maintenance on floor repairs for water damage. We had to lay a towel on the floor each time we showered. The property was also undergoing renovations and there was no noise at night but the spa wasn't operating or in good condition. Generally I would recommend this place. But I hope they staff someone to be available overnight for noise complaints because it can easily become a party room without anyone from the company knowing and guests not having a good experience.

First impressions of the king suite were great: stylish, modern, and freshly updated. Unfortunately, it also came with a side of "Eau de Pine-Sol" so intense it could qualify as a third guest. We opened every window and door in a desperate attempt to air it out, but the scent stood its ground like a pine-scented fog of war. By bedtime, my sinuses were staging a protest, and the birthday getaway vibe had definitely taken a hit. The silver lining? By morning, we could breathe like humans again. Now, about those windows: charming in theory, but none of them had screens. The bedroom window opened right onto a sidewalk, which meant a parade of passing strangers just a few feet away. With no A/C and a security risk that felt more "live stage performance" than "private suite," we ended up sweating it out with the windows closed. The bed also had... character. The headboard was completely detached from the wall, and according to my husband, his side of the bed offered a gentle downhill slope--ideal for sledding, not so much for sleeping. All that said, I actually really like this place. It has great bones and a lot of potential they're actively working on. I'd absolutely come back, but next time I'll book a second or third-floor room, and I'll be calling ahead to make sure it doesn't smell like a pine forest exploded indoors.

You do get a bit of road noise due to the location directly off highway 1, but late at night, the road is not well traveled. The unit is cleaned by tenant's so it's not professionally cleaned. Still, it was not too bad. The unit could benefit from a new bed and perhaps some updated dishware. It would really pop with some new furnishings, but then the price would likely increase. Sitting out in the hot tub on a star filled night makes these issues are little more excusable. We had some outstanding food at Terrapin Creek Cafe and Spud Point Crab Co. We got to see an amazing sunset from the balcony and seals swimming just offshore. It was nice to have a kitchen to make a simple breakfast. You do need to bring your own linens and towels, but that was not a problem for us. You have to clean the unit before you leave, but it did not take more than an hour. The only negatives for us were the shower was somewhat clogged and we weren't able to enjoy the hot tub because it needed cleaning and was slimy. We booked on extremely short notice, so we can't fault the owner for not having time to check on the unit before our arrival. He was easy to work with and responded very quickly to phone calls. We had hoped to use the available kayak, but ran short on time. If you are not looking for a 5 star, fancy hotel, this is your place. The relaxation factor of having your own space, combined with the reasonable price made this an ideal escape.
