    "Clean" Towels

Girlfriend and I stayed here two nights for a friends wedding. We got the "Premier Bayview King | Newly Renovated" room. The price was high but I booked late so I was expecting that, but honestly given the pictures and marketing as a boutique hotel it looked pretty nice. Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews before booking. So what do you get? For $756 (2 nights of the discounted base rate + $50 amenity fee + taxes + credit card processing fees,) you get: A dilapidated room with stained sheets, towels, pillowcases and curtains, black curly hair on your sheets, pillows and towels (they even changed them and they still had hair on the new set!!,) dirty windows, bubbling wall paint, dusty indoor furniture, rusty outdoor furniture, "limited front desk hours", no daily housekeeping, funky digital check in with coded number pad locked doors, and an overall feeling of disappointment. Was anything good? Not really, some things were fine. I requested an extra hour to checkout and they waived the late checkout fee ($50?), presumably because we complained about hair on our bedding, so that was nice I guess? The off site management I texted with were responsive, and the staff member who we interacted with on site (one guy who helped us when their digital check in service didn't work and changed our bedding when we complained about the hair) was friendly. Though I never got his name. Luckily he was there to re-send us our door code, if we had arrived later outside the check in assistance window I'm not sure what we would have done. And the view is nice of the bay - but the windows were in desperate need of some Windexing, so it felt more like an impressionist painting than a view. There's so many things about this place that just felt neglected. You can really feel that this place isn't thoroughly cleaned often, and that they run a skeleton crew staff. It feels more like a typical AirBnB experience than a hotel. I could never recommend this place to a family member or friend.

The most beautiful stay! So convenient with kids because you can walk to a restaurants and a five minute drive to the beach. We stayed in the two bedroom Bayview signature suite as a family of 6. Very spacious and modern I love the decoration and furniture. The staff was very helpful and the cleaners were so kind. Very family, friendly, highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Stayed here for 3 nights and were lucky to take advantage of their Black Friday sale advertised on their website last month. The hotel appears to be recently renovated and modern. Check in is online/via text message; entry to room is via a code/keypad on door. Checkout is at 1000am and you just leave the "checked out" sign on your door. Lisa was helpful and communicative; giving us a phone number to reach her for any issues we had. We reserved a one king room with bathtub. It also had a patio, and slightly obstructed view of the bay. Our room was in building E, at the end of the complex. We could see highway 1 at our door, but weren't bothered by the sounds of cars passing by. The room was complete with a huge TV, Keurig (pods, creamer and sugar too!), microwave, mini fridge & freezer. The bed was comfy! Had a lovely and restful stay.

I will start with the positives. Luis at the front desk gave us a warm welcome. The bed was comfortable, that is unfortunately where the positive ends. I would recommend you do not book this hotel. First off I paid for a "Bayview" one bedroom, My view was the parking lot. We had only one window with a screen (although it had a hole at the bottom of it) so to truly enjoy the ocean breeze we had to deal with the flies. The floors were sticky and dirty. The window panes held dead flies and an accumulation of dirt and debris. One of the windows you couldn't see clearly out of because it looked like it had something that was scraped off of it, just dirty. The veneer on our dining room table was lifted with a huge scratch on one side and bubbles all over the top (see pictures) there were stains on the ceiling from someone who had cooked before us, I assume. The outside of the building is not taken care of, the wood siding is peeling off as well as the paint and there are cobwebs everywhere. The lighting, that's a whole other story. There's one small desk light in the bedroom which is used for the entire room. Similar to that there is one light in the entire kitchen-dining area, a can light, Yes a single can light that actually is over just the microwave, another single can light is used in the corner of the living room in order to light up the entire living room, just not good enough! The security of the place isn't great either. The latches on the windows are partly broken and the sliding glass door latch didn't even secure properly. When we left to eat dinner we had to take all our valuables with us. Also they need to take a look at the furniture I mean the leather is peeling off the chairs in the living room area, I would say it's time to replace some stuff! If you're looking for a quiet stay you better hope you're on the top floor because you can hear every step and conversation if someone is above you. This place is trying to be something it's not they're just not there yet. I would strongly suggest that management take a look at the bones of the place before they try to "shine a turd" I give Luis kudos for trying to be so proud of the property as he gave us a walking tour before we checked in, I would have been simply embarrassed if I was him. Disappointing since we were spending our anniversary here.... Just goes to show when you cut corners to try to spend a little less you get a lot less. I will go back to The Lodge or the Tides next time to make sure that a special occasion is not ruined by the atmosphere. And just as a note I did send two emails to the property and got no response!

Great place to stay! The rooms were nice and the hotel staff were great! Not too far from STS Airport! Would come back 100%

The view! The only thing I would recommend is to have bar height chairs to see over the wall.

Nice hotel and a good location! Loved the balcony with the view of Bodega Bay! The only thing I would recommend is to have bar height chairs to see over the wall. We had to stand.

Different way of checking in for a hotel. It's all via text and mobile. You receive constant IMs from the host -- many helpful, but some not so much. (e.g., their online system for providing a credit card for incidentals never worked after three texts about it.) The host is very responsive to IMs. Check-in was very pleasant and efficient. It's all keyless entry. The rooms appeared to be recently renovated, probably in line with the name change (from Bodega Coast Inn and Suites.) The shower stalls are odd, as there is only a half glass door on the furthest portion, so water pools on the handle side on the floor! It takes one bath towel to soak it all up! But, at least you know the floors are clean. No bar/hand soap, so bring your own or use the body wash supplied. Also, since we're on the coast, there is no A/C. However, there should be a screen door on the slider to get fresh air in and to keep critters out, no? Odd. Parking is adequate for the size of the property.

Picture of my girlfriend's foot after stepping on the glass

I would not recommend staying at Hotel Dega. My girlfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary from April 10th to April 12th and had a terrible experience. We paid almost $600 for two nights, but the room was dirty and unsafe. When we arrived, there were poop stains in the toilet, crumbs all over the floor, and no shampoo. We asked for shampoo multiple times, but no one ever brought it. When we went to the lobby to get some ourselves, the front desk worker had to pour soap into a coffee cup because they were out. The worst part was our last night when my girlfriend stepped off the bed and cut her foot on broken glass that was left in the rug. We found even more pieces of glass after looking closer, which proves they never vacuumed. We told the staff and asked for a refund, and they told us they would need to speak to their management team first, which was fine with us. However, the following morning on check-out day, we sent a text asking for an update on the situation. They completely ignored the question and just sent a scripted goodbye text. I have emailed them twice and reached out to both Hotel Dega and the Somers Collection through Instagram DMs and comments over the last five days, but I have received no response. To make matters worse, I called customer service to speak to someone. They put me on hold and then hung up on me. When I tried to call back, they continuously declined my calls and eventually blocked my number. I actually had to call from a completely different phone just to get through to someone again. This hotel has extremely poor cleaning standards and clearly flees from conflict to avoid taking accountability for their mistakes. I wouldn't recommend staying there at all.

Our anniversary stay at Hotel Dega has been absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. Everything has been perfect -- we truly have not had a single complaint. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. Every space felt well cared for, and the atmosphere made it so easy to relax and enjoy our time together. We are especially grateful to Lisa, the manager, who went above and beyond to surprise us for our anniversary. We walked into balloons, rose petals, and the most thoughtful details that made us feel truly celebrated. It wasn't just the decorations -- it was the care and intention behind them that meant so much to us. Hospitality like this is rare. We feel so thankful for the way we've been treated and for the beautiful memories created here. Thank you, Lisa, and the entire team at Hotel Dega for making our anniversary so special. We are leaving very happy and very grateful -- and we will absolutely be back.

Opened a few windows (weather was great) and that helped some. Again, view out the now open windows was great. Place was very clean, old but nice inside, no complaints there. The inn is located on a busy road, but traffic slows down in the evening. The rooms have a charming beachy feel and are on the smaller side, but that's exactly what we expected after reading reviews. We were only staying one night, so we booked the smallest room. If we return for a longer stay, we'd probably opt for a larger room. That said, if you're in Bodega Bay, hopefully you're spending most of your time exploring rather than sitting in your room! The rooms include mini fridges and a coffee station, and the lobby has a larger coffee and tea station as well as a microwave. Parking is located right outside your room, which makes loading and unloading easy. The location is also very convenient. It's within walking distance of a grocery store that has just about everything you might need, including a deli. Our most recent experience was not great with newer employee (Gina). When we arrived on WED we were happy to get our keys to the Harbor House as it was our first time to stay in this house. We got into the house and we realized it smelled of gas. There was one burner that was taped off with do not use on the tape. It was obvious that the Inn was aware there was a problem, yet this was not taken care of properly prior to our arrival. We returned to the office to inform them with our concerns in the Harbor House. Gina let us know that she has had other guests with the same complaints but she said it had been recently serviced. She said if it made us feel better she could have the handyman come look at it again in the morning. She tried to reach the him, but there was no answer and she had to leave a message. Gina did assure us that the owners daughter had just stayed in the Harbor House with no complaints. We chose to stay the night and have the handyman check the stove in the morning. It was two days before the stove was checked so we were not able to use the heat or stove until Friday evening. The young man who worked on the stove let us know it was leaking gas because it was not fixed correctly. We also had some attitude from Gina when we tried to get 4 wash cloths and more coffee for the coffee maker. We also had to ask for toilet paper twice because we only had 2 spare rolls for 4 adults staying 5 nights (6 days). We should have been offered a discount for the 3 days we were not able to safely use the heater and stove due to the gas leak. We have decided that we will have to move on and find a new place to stay for our yearly vacation to Bodega Bay. I think things would have been handled differently had George or Steve been running the office that week. We are very lucky that the house did not blow up nor did we have poisoning due to the natural gas leak. Keeping all the windows open until it was properly serviced was difficult because it was so cold, but we are still here to share this story. Looking back on this we never should have stayed in the home but I am happy to be alive. We are just disappointed that our trip was not enjoyable and we paid extra to stay in the house when we would have had a better vacation just renting a room without these issues.

Pros: this was a very charming estate and the staff was beyond kind to both of us and our pup. He was welcome everywhere except the dining room, the pool and spa. The room was very cute and clean. The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and fresh with good options. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cream cheese, very delicious fruit, oatmeal, coffee and tea. That alone made it a reasonable place to stay. The dining room was also very clean. I also really liked that they had the outdoor movie theater and smores. Our kids loved it each night. The library/game room is also such a cute unique area that is great for those who have kids. However now to the bad. That includes the cute library. While a cute idea, it's extremely dirty filled with dead flies and bees all over the windows and even cushions. The windows on the outside have not been clean in a very long time. The dead flies, bees are everywhere. There on the floor, the light fixtures, jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi had so many dead bugs in the water and the water also had probably dirt from people's bodies. It was very unsanitary and disappointing to say the least. The property itself is not maintained. There are bugs, weeds, and poor condition of most of the outside of the property. It's too bad because it could be a great place to stay if they just did some extra work to clean up. Part of me would want to come back because of the breakfast and outdoor movie but they really need to take the time to clean.

First impressions of the king suite were great: stylish, modern, and freshly updated. Unfortunately, it also came with a side of "Eau de Pine-Sol" so intense it could qualify as a third guest. We opened every window and door in a desperate attempt to air it out, but the scent stood its ground like a pine-scented fog of war. By bedtime, my sinuses were staging a protest, and the birthday getaway vibe had definitely taken a hit. The silver lining? By morning, we could breathe like humans again. Now, about those windows: charming in theory, but none of them had screens. The bedroom window opened right onto a sidewalk, which meant a parade of passing strangers just a few feet away. With no A/C and a security risk that felt more "live stage performance" than "private suite," we ended up sweating it out with the windows closed. The bed also had... character. The headboard was completely detached from the wall, and according to my husband, his side of the bed offered a gentle downhill slope--ideal for sledding, not so much for sleeping. All that said, I actually really like this place. It has great bones and a lot of potential they're actively working on. I'd absolutely come back, but next time I'll book a second or third-floor room, and I'll be calling ahead to make sure it doesn't smell like a pine forest exploded indoors.

I have quite a bit of feedback of this business especially as they finish remodeling and rebranding. Based off the old photos the rooms seem like they have improved a lot so I am hoping they do well overall. Location: 5/5 It's right in front of the beach, you get a nice view of your room faces the bay and there's a small coffee shop, local burgers and hot dogs, and post office next door, also Fishetarian is so close! Great for a coasty vibe and a beer. Check-In/ Check-Out and staffing: 2/5 Upon arrival (around 1pm) we were told our room wasn't ready and we could not check in until 4pm. The lady at the front was very friendly and offered us some chocolate while she processed our payment. Once checked in, process was smooth but what really upset us was the limited staffing they have on site generally. No one is there at check out (11am) and they don't arrive until between 1-4 which isn't good for a hospitality business. Overnight our neighbors were up until 5AM. Drinking and smoking cigarettes on their balcony so we weren't able to enjoy our outdoor space. There was no one to call and notify to tell them to keep it down. They were also jumping or dropping furniture idk it was loud thuds though, so I'm sure the people below them were annoyed too. In the morning we requested a different room and they were apologetic but did not find us a new place and thankfully our neighbors checked out. I really hope Bodega Coast Inn followed up with them because they were an inconsiderate group of adults acting like they were in college. Definitely ruined our night and made the next morning hard to enjoy because we were so tired. I also requested a complimentary night but they ghosted me and stopped responding. The room: 3/5 Beautiful renovated room with a mid century modern vibe. Only complaint is the shower. It was clean but the way the glass half-wall is situated splashes water EVERYWHERE. If they don't address this, they will need to do a lot of maintenance on floor repairs for water damage. We had to lay a towel on the floor each time we showered. The property was also undergoing renovations and there was no noise at night but the spa wasn't operating or in good condition. Generally I would recommend this place. But I hope they staff someone to be available overnight for noise complaints because it can easily become a party room without anyone from the company knowing and guests not having a good experience.

We stayed in the Seal's unit, which is the largest of the 3. For the price it's tough to beat the location. The cabin sits on piers directly over the bay when the tide is up. You do get a bit of road noise due to the location directly off highway 1, but late at night, the road is not well traveled. The unit is cleaned by tenant's so it's not professionally cleaned. Still, it was not too bad. The unit could benefit from a new bed and perhaps some updated dishware. It would really pop with some new furnishings, but then the price would likely increase. Sitting out in the hot tub on a star filled night makes these issues are little more excusable. We had some outstanding food at Terrapin Creek Cafe and Spud Point Crab Co. We got to see an amazing sunset from the balcony and seals swimming just offshore. It was nice to have a kitchen to make a simple breakfast. You do need to bring your own linens and towels, but that was not a problem for us. You have to clean the unit before you leave, but it did not take more than an hour. The only negatives for us were the shower was somewhat clogged and we weren't able to enjoy the hot tub because it needed cleaning and was slimy. We booked on extremely short notice, so we can't fault the owner for not having time to check on the unit before our arrival. He was easy to work with and responded very quickly to phone calls. We had hoped to use the available kayak, but ran short on time. If you are not looking for a 5 star, fancy hotel, this is your place. The relaxation factor of having your own space, combined with the reasonable price made this an ideal escape.
