What makes Bodega great and a cut above the rest is the staff and owners. You can't find friendlier and more helpful people anywhere in retail. If you come on a very busy day it may be difficult for them to give you their full attention because they are being pulled in many directions at once but have no doubt- they will go out of their way for you, all you have to do is ask. The staff is also very knowledgeable about all the products they sell. They're excited about the brands they carry and know everything there is to know about each and every line. They have some really amazing lines for men-- high quality, premium pieces. If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask. They keep a lot of fresh pieces in the basement that don't always make it on to the retail floor. Some of the merchandise is expensive but you get what you pay for. There are a lot of simply amazing pieces here that are worth every penny--things that you will wear again and again that will not fall apart. I know for a fact that Bodega does not mark up their product more than 50 percent because they are not out to gouge people. Bodega is not a Nike outlet. They can't afford to mark down their sneakers that low all the time. However, their sales are legendary and the prices DO go down super low then...you just have to be willing to wait in line! read more

By far the coolest sneaker store int he city, and maybe even the east coast...However, realistically the deals on the sneakers aren't particular amazing. Go to the Nike Outlet, and you'll find much less of a selection, but you can still pick up some fresh Nike sneakers for about 1/2 the price. read more

I was very excited about stumbling on this store and the merchandise they carry! I was visiting Boston from NJ for the first time and my in store shopping experience at Bodega made my trip. I tell everyone about this store. This Christmas my wife bought me a $500 gift certificate and a $300 one for one of our employees. Things went downhill from there! My order was not shipped for a few weeks and his is currently not filled. It has been 3 week since he placed the order. We I finally got my shipment, I ordered a size 11.5 sneakers and they sent me size 10. I have sent 5 or so emails sing placing my order about my horrible experience shopping online with these guys! DON'T DO IT! Customer service is none existent and no one responds to your emails. DON'T TAKE CUSTOMERS MONEY AND NOT SHIP THE GOODS! I hope to hear from someone in your store this year! I had actually looked forward to coming here from California, and it couldn't have been more disappointing. I had my phone out as I was opening the door and was immediately face to face with a guy working there that yelled "NO RECORDING". I was caught off guard but figured it was just one person. I then went to the back of the store that, despite no recordings, every person who visits knows about. It's really small on the inside with not a lot of selection and everything has surprising markup, even for a little store of their caliber. Between rude employees, unnecessarily expensive product and not even a good selection, I'd suggest anybody on the street keeps on walking. Not worth it. read more

I'm more of a hands off type of shopper so I don't like to be bothered unless I intend to purchase. My review is for their online customer service. I live in Boston and I was told at the store that the shoes I wanted were only available online. Upon purchasing, an issue came up with my order. The process was handled professionally and the individual was responsive and corrected my issue via email. After everything was resolved my shoes came swiftly and as promised. Bodega's presentation of their product both online and in person are easy to navigate and view. I recommend both shopping the brick and mortar as well as online. I will be coming back to Bodega for more in the future. read more

If you want shoes that are kicking it like Bruce Lee, this is the place to be. I was recommended to check this place out while visiting Boston by a friend, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The slogan "hidden in plain sight" perfectly describes this store as it's disguised as a run of the mill convenience store, but leads to a hip sneaker spot. The employees were very helpful and I was happy to hear they're opening up a location in LA! I would've attached pictures, however photography isn't allowed in the store. I'm very happy with my purchase, since I ended up getting a pair of Rihanna's Puma Creepers which had been sold out in my size for the longest time. read more

This was certainly an interesting store. The fake store front makes it all the better. The staff was pretty helpful after the large crowd that was there before us left. Recently on vacation visiting Boston and decided to check bodega out since my husband is a huge sneaker lover. The concept of a hidden door in a bodega that leads to a high end shoe store is pretty cool. Really something you have to check out. However the selection of shoes wasn't that big and the prices are a bit high. My husband saw some shoes he liked for $120 but he looked online for the same shoe and found them for $80. The store is too expensive but the hidden door is something unique and worth seeing. read more

I had high hopes for Bodega, but after visiting, I became throughly disappointed. Granted, hiding a store behind a fake vending machine is pretty clever--like something you would expect to find in a movie--but beyond that gimmick is very little substance. The store is much smaller than the pictures would indicate, and when I entered, I received no service at--not even a hello. They blasted music far above levels you would expect to find in a retail store (comparable to levels you would find going clubbing), and the place gave the vibe that it was more of a local hangout than a retailer. read more

Customer service for online orders is terrible. Made an order on a Friday and received a confirmation email but nothing after that. I emailed every email on the website more then once and got no response. Its been a week later and have received no emails back. When you call the store it jumps straight to a full mailbox. When I think of Boston, I think urban...New Edition, New Kids on the Block, so I would think that they have some cool urban stores to check out. I asked my friend who lived in Boston if there was anything in Boston comparable to the stores on Melrose. She said the closest thing is the section of Newbury toward Mass Ave. After visiting Johnny Cupcakes, the clerk said there aren't that many urban stores in the area. Johnny Cupcakes was one of them, Karmaloop was another but they are remodelling and the third is Bodega. She said we should check out Bodega...there is a Snapple machine and there is something on the floor you are supposed to step on and the door will open. It wasn't too far away, just walk down to Mass Ave, turn left walk a couple blocks and Bodega will be on Clearway. Okay. Seemed simple enough. When my friend and I got to Clearway, we looked down the street, but there didn't seem to be a urban store there and no Snapple machine. We walked down the street and across the street where there were some stores. No Bodega. So I Googled the address on my handy Crackberry and got the address...6 Clearway. So, we walked back and looked for the address. We found 6 Clearway, but it looked like an old looking convenience store and I didn't see a Snapple machine. We decided to go in anyway. We opened the door and inside it looked like a cheap gas station convenience store. There was an Asian guy behind the counter who stared at us and three black guys at a table surrounding a laptop and they looked as though we were interrupting their business. We felt for a moment that we were in the Twilight Zone. Then, we noticed the Snapple vending machine in the back slide open and two guys carrying bags walked out. Behind them, I saw the store. We walked in and saw all the sneakers and clothes. My friend and I agreed that was cool set-up. The merchanise was okay. There are better stores on Melrose for sneaks and clothing, but Bodega had a cool store front. It made me feel like I was part of a mafia movie were there is a secret room with the "goods". The door is clever and a good concept. Got to hit this place up on the reg or else you won't get your size - the size runs are a lil small for a place that gets this much traffic. Still vexed I missed out on the AM360 Hybrids a few years back! Found a few fitteds I liked but never had much luck with Ts. The Bodega is a "must visit!" The selection is hit or miss, mainly because hot s**t does not stay on the shelf too long. Yet, the crazy thing is, I always find what I want whenever I make an unscheduled visit to the shop. The only slack is the customer service, but heck, it is not as bad as one will experience elsewhere. For some odd reason, customer service is not a high priority no matter where you shop for exclusive sneakers, unless you establish a connection with the staff. All in all, do not leave Boston without checking out the Bodega. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars, is because i NEVER have any luck with their raffle. Sad face. lol read more

Yesterday was my first time in Bodega and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The snapple machine entrance was cool and I found the staff to be three times more friendly than major competitors Karmaloop and Concepts. I ended up with some Nike Dunk High's after trying on seven other pairs and the workers did not groan once I had decided against one pair after another. All the workers are kind, and the shoes are ill! What more could you ask for? read more

Joe is extremely helpful when it comes to whats going on with your orders. They do take a bit on getting out colabs but honestly what store doesn't when they running through hundreds of orders in a matter of minutes. Gonna be some bottle necking somewhere. Now that I found a quicker source for getting any problems sorted out I'm totally content.
