Worst store experience and will never shop at Riccardi again! I've been shopping at Riccardi for about 5 years now but haven't been in the store after COVID. I was all excited to shop for a new Chrome Hearts T-shirt until the staff said they don't carry Chrome Hearts clothing anymore. I walked around the store to find something else and found about 10 pieces of CH pieces behind one of the counters. The staff walked up to me and told me that area where I was picking out of CH shirts was "employee only" Riccardi, if you're not tryna sell me those CH pieces can you at least hide them somewhere I can't see so your lie isn't as obvious PLEASE! read more

Ever wonder how small businesses, especially a boutique luxury clothing retailer, makes it in this world of credit crunches, big box stores and e-commerce? Go visit Riccardi. Run by father and son Riccardi duo for the last few decades, Riccardi is a master class in personal service, friendly & knowledgeable sales people, hand-picked inventory from exclusive labels, staying current / avante garde while keeping some things stable to keep clientele happy, and so forth. I have been shopping at Riccardi for years and the things I have outlined above are the reasons why they are still around. They have all kinds of wacky Japanese denim (think $500+ per pair with hand painted designs), a deep collection of Givenchy, Lanvin, Dior Homme, Comme des Garcons, etc. Regarding CdesG, this fall Riccardi had one of the deepest selections of their "PLAY" collection anywhere. Back in the day, they were the only store around that sold Evisu. They carried Prada coats and apparel that you could not find anywhere else (not even Saks or Neiman Marcus). All of this and you are not high pressured or judged by their sales people. I have purchased everything from t-shirts to cologne to winter coats here. This store is expensive, but if you care about personal, friendly service, are concerned about keeping small businesses alive and want clothes that you simply cannot get anywhere else in Boston, then you have to head over to Riccardi. read more

This store definitely carries its price tag but it was a very cozy look and feel store which had a huge collection (by far even from Kidrobot) of KAWS toys. In fact, the unique thing about this store is that it has EVERY SINGLE KAWS doll ever released! Even the latest one, matte black, and chrome. This alone is a good thing to marvel at while you browse around the store for nifty tshirts and jackets. I am not sure if the dolls are on sale, but if they were it would be $8000+ but I doubt so since they tried hard to collect them. They do have the chrome KAWS on sale for $4000 :) ..... The management here at this store is the worst management I've ever seen in my experience of retail. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. I've had Ricardo Junior (owner) approach his team and gossip about me shopping at their competitors store which isn't any of his business... I have had the manager approach me and cuss at me in front of customers AND employees for reasons unsure. I just feel as a store owner you should always value customer service. I am against shopping at the store and i advise customers to expand their horizons and shop elsewhere or you might as well shop online. WHAT RECESSION??? I go here with my roommate (he's a professional poker player). I pick out the fugliest looking pair of Japanese Denim with gigantic dragons embroidered on the pockets (like JNCO from when you were a kid but 10 TIMES lamer) and I go "how much for the jeans". They're like "oh like 1000 dollars" Then I go "1,000 dollars? I'll take 2" I go through the t-shirts and they're like "oh that paper thin baby Gap t-shirt with a picture of a glittery skull on it? Oh that's only 500 bucks" and I'm like "sign me up for 5" (they are thin, and it IS cold out these days) Then I put on a belt that costs 400 dollars that looks like it was shaped out of a working man's broken dreams. I buy two in case I "lose" one on accident in the heaps of my designer clothes on my bedroom floor. I pay for the clothes and then put them on. I subsequently go to the homeless men on the street and pull out a (solar powered) calculator. I pick the solar powered one because it's greener than one with a battery. Come on folks, haven't you heard of global warming? Anyways, I tell the homeless dudes "After adding this up, it looks like I'm wearing 4 grand in clothing right now. How much money does a sandwich that you can't afford cost?" Then I laugh capriciously because I am fortunate and they are not. I leave them with inspirational words "HEY, GET A JOB YOU BUM" Want to know why this all goes down? Because in this world there's haves and have nots and it's not my fault that I'm cruising around with my parents credit cards and making a mockery of poverty. This is America baby. Seriously, if you're looking for super overpriced JNCOs you can find them here, BUT you can also find really nice denim that's not overpriced. I won't lie, they did have Comme De Garcons Fred Perry's here and some delicious Stitch Jeans as well as Ksubi and even Cheap Monday! The denim staff is really nice and there's hard to find stuff here. I just wish they would cool it with the real bonkers stuff like the 1000 dollar jeans. p.s. Great clothes, questionable service. They know who their customers are and I suppose they think I am not one of them. My second attempt at coming in to browse and perhaps purchase a pair of jeans or a t-shirt. I pick up a shirt off the folded shelf and get approaced to make sure I realize that it is not to be touched, Not in a "Can I help you" kind of way, but more in a I-should-know-better kind of way. this happened on my first visit, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Obviously this is a pattern. Perhaps if they greeted you on entrance and explained that they would be happy to show you the clothing. Came up to Boston for a quick reunion weekend and managed to do some shopping in the Copley/ Newbury St neighborhood. Was looking for some Off-White gear and Ricciardis came up in my search. Staff was extremely helpful with no pressure at all. Had 3 sales assistants making sure we were ok and found out they didn't work on commission so I wasnt stepping on anyone's toes. Prices were on point and selection better than most stores. One sales assistant even ran back to us as she realized we may have received the wrong size at the register. I will definitely be back!! The owner (I believe) checked us out and gave us 2 complimentary 40th anniversary bear charms! Not a huge thing but I'm all about the gesture. read more

As someone who has been to many expensive stores like this one in countries all over the world, I must say that the customer service is absolutely appalling. I have been here twice, and both times I have left feeling utterly disgusted. The sales assistants were incredibly rude and were just standing there gossiping and playing with their phones the whole time. Now I understand that this isn't Barneys or Saks or Harrods or Selfridges but I expect a higher level of professionalism and courtesy, especially if I'm about to drop $200 on a t-shirt. Both times when I'm browsing around, a sales assistant immediately comes over and asks me (in a very snooty way) not to touch anything because they're all in hangers. It's absolutely ridiculous. Although I do love the brands stocked here in this shop (Kenzo, Moschino, Comme des Garçons Play, Neil Barrett, Thom Browne, Valentino, Givenchy etc), I hate rude sales people. If the owner of the store sees this, let me just say this: you have a lovely store, but you should fire your sales assistants because they're the rudest, most unprofessional people I have met in a very long time. Kinda cool, kinda pretentious, Riccardi actually surprised me after finally going into their storefront after passing them for so many years, as I too, always thought it was kind of like a Fubu warehouse. To my surprise, it wasn't Fubu at all, but actually high end boutique wear that ranges from Cheap Monday, Tsubi, Nudies, all the way up to Vivianne Westwood and Prada red line. Things are arranged decently enough and there's quite a bit of haute couture clothing that is pretty much only useable if you're going to be all bad-ass underground crime overlord. And it's nice to have that option. Now if I only had 4000 dollars for that jacket and an army of sexy Japanese school-girl assassins. What's keeping them down? Well, they have quite a bit of tacky brands (Seven For All Mankind, True Religion (Although Uniform carries them as well)), and I don't know, some of the stuff rubs me like the kind of clothes that aren't so much fashionable as just stuff you wear for the label. Kind of trust-fundy feeling, where those rich foreign exchange students shop at while being 20 years old in college (I really shouldn't knock 'em for that, but can't get that feeling off of me). Be careful if you're over 5'8" going upstairs, I knocked my head pretty hard walking up to the women's section, and I'm only 6' tall. Anyways, it's worth a visit/trip around, totally. Completely surprised by the helpful staff to find me the perfect pair of jeans. First off I have to tell you how much of a pain in the arse I am when it comes to shopping for jeans; i've got a skinny ass and skinny legs and I am super picky about fittings. The employees where really into finding the pair of jeans that I wanted, they paid attention to what kind of fit and style I wanted. I spent an entire day going from store to store in the Backbay area looking for a nice pair of jeans and Riccardi was one of the most helpful that day; the Diesel store was also pretty good with their service. After about an hour in this store, trying on about half a dozen pair of jeans and 3 employees, one suggested Nineteen48 jeans, which apparently are limited to 800 pair a season and only Riccardi carries them in Boston; and which I ended buying because they fitted perfectly. The jeans here are fairly priced for the brands they carry. I recommend checking them out due to a wide selection in Denim (and also other apparel items such as dress shirts and shoes and etc.) and great service. A well deserved 5 out of 5 for good shopping experience. read more

Best / biggest selection of Comme des Garcons for starters. Also carry a good selection of Cheap Monday jeans which are only available elsewhere at Barneys. Hands down my favorite store on Newbury St. Besides, they sell Chrome Hearts jewelry!!!!!!! Which is SO hard to find unless you're in NYC or Vegas. And when they have sales, you get some pretty nice stuff for a lot less! I rarely buy any of their clothes (except jeans and some tshirts) but I got some nice Dolce & G... stuff for really cheap last summer! Don't be misled by the other reviewers, this place is good for more than just the jeans. Owner Riccardi has his sense of style which is a blend of casual and formal wear and playfulness, funkiness. The store definitely reflected his sensible fashion style. We were serviced by Riccardi each time. He was like a friend, suggesting, helping us to find extremely flattering outfits. They do carry very interesting jeans, but they also have a good selection of Vivian Westwood shirts (one of my favorite's). I gave it four stars because I thought they do lack a little on the women's clothing. To me, a girl's wardrobe should contain some funky casual outfits, but also some girly stuff. I sense this shop lacks a little feminine touch to attract me to buy more things there. (which is not a bad thing!) read more

Far and away the coolest place for men's clothing in Boston. Granted, I usually just write down things I see there to look for on eBay, but the staff has always been friendly to me and it remains one of the only places I'll ever go "to browse" (I'm not generally a big shopper). In case you haven't realized by the reviews so far, everything here is terrifyingly expensive unless it's on sale (the only way I can ever realistically shop here). I brought a few friends in here a few months back. One was drawn to a Dolce and Gabbana dragon-patterned shirt. Price: about $750. Shocked outburst followed (for the rest of the day). First and foremost I'm going to say they don't discriminate when it comes to service unlike places like Barneys and Neiman Marcus so that is a big reason they get a 5 star rating. But wait, there is more... I have visited riccardis in the past mabe 4-5 years ago and could never find anything of my interest besides jeans. And not till about a few months ago I needed a new pair. The girl who helped me find a pair was very helpful asking me how I like my jeans fitted and what kind of denim. She let me try on several pairs of jeans from Evisus to Nudies and after trying on about 5 pairs I came to the conclusion of a pair of Nudies that I would've never bought without her recommendation. Those were Slim Jims .. and I'm a big guy. The fit beautifully and she offered to have them hemmed and ready for pickup on Monday since I came on Saturday. Riccardi's gets 5 stars because they have very patient and helpful staff who are knowledgeable as well and as I mentioned they do not discriminate as in who they want to help and who they choose to avoid. The selection of stuff ranges from Comme Garcons to PRPS to Visvim to Evisu and so on with the high end hipster brands. This is the better alternative IMO to a place like Barneys. read more

I've been a big fan of Riccardi for many years now. Its simply a boutique store with the coolest stuff in Boston. They carry Commes Des Garcons, Etro, Evisu, Gucci, Prada, Prada Sport, Neighborhood. All very exclusive brands in their own right but my favorite in the store is Chromehearts, and they are the only ones that carry them in Boston. There are many times I would come to the store just to look at all the Chromehearts pieces. The service has always been great for me. Friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. I'm not sure but I believe another Yelper noted that the salespeople are not paid by commission and I would tend to agree with that because I never feel a lot of pressure to buy and I'm always encouraged to browse. If the sale sign is up, definitely stop by. I have found some great deals here in the past. CH, unfortunately, never goes on sale. I love it that Riccardi is very fashion forward and buys collections based a lot on his own style sentiments. That gives all the merchandise in the store a certain kind of feel. DOPE!!! Aside from NY this is the closest selvage dealer around. So far i have bought a pair of nudies and denim birds from here. This fall i plan on getting a pair (or 2) Cheap Mondays, and possibly some TLJs... I am currently on 7 months straight. Staff is super helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. I tend to be kinda a nerd when it comes to certain things... and man, do they know there jeans. I was spitting all sorts of lingo at the person helping me out the first time i was there and they where right up on it with me. Plus, i must say, the aroma of the store is breath taking. The accessories are great, but beyond my budget, as with the shoes. My boyfriend literally won't shop for denim any where else. It's the perfect place if you're looking for some high end jeans. Every time I go in with him he tells them what kind of style, wash, and his spending limit. Within 10 minutes a sales associate will have about 5 different pairs. I love riccardi because it makes shopping so much easier. And most of the sales associates aren't snoody like the rest of the other high end stores. If you're looking for overpriced clothing, knowledgable though equally pretentious staff, and a boutique that is more eager to swipe your credit card than satiate your sartorial cravings, this is your place. While shopping in Boston the other month, I was referred to Riccardi as "the best" place in Boston to purchase luxury street-wear and denim. My visit to Riccardi exposed me to a prolific selection of luxury menswear, but I was deeply disappointed by what seemed like a greater - and alarmingly fastidious - attention to "name brands" and logos at the cost of reasonable prices and true trends. What I'd like to impress upon Yelp readers is that I truly, truly am familiar with the phenomenon of spending a decent chunk of change on luxury goods. I've splurged before (granted that such large dents in your wallet are presumably made up for by craftsmanship and trendiness). But this store is sure to break the purse strings of even the most impulsive of buyers. Don't expect to find a shirt in this store for less than $150.00 - and we're talking casual, cotton graphic Tees. By all means, if you have that money and are looking for a big, glaring red "Commes de Garcons" heart on your torso, go for it. Otherwise, a survey of Riccardi's store windows should suffice. My experiences with the staff at Riccardi were mediocre at best. To begin with the good (and it WAS good), I found the employees incredibly knowledgable about their stock. From the store's wide selection of Dior and Dolce and Gabbana denim to newer and more independent lines like Nudie Jeans, the staff know exactly what they're talking about - be it fit, color, rise, yoke, the works - they know denim like no other. However, the bad. I was frustrated by the staff's pushiness - constantly trying to get me to try things on and buy them without thoroughly negotiating these costly investments. While trying on a pair of shoes, a customer passed me on his way to the nearest mirror, wearing an unbelievably oversized patterned T-shirt. "It's way too big," he remarked. "That's how it's supposed to fit," replied one of the employees. Maybe I'm not as conscious of the current trends, but this man was positively swimming in what I later discovered to be a $450.00 shirt. Despite the staff members' persuasions, the man did not end up buying it, might I add - a decision that I think both his gaunt build and his mother's credit card later appreciated. What's more, the store had a slightly mafioso-like air about it - something that, while subjective, made me feel uncomfortable. An old and observably complacent man (presumably Mr. Riccardi) sat at the front manning the cash register (not once interacting with customers until they handed over their credit cards), and a battalion of young-twenty-something-year-olds hovered and puttered in back. I was not given two looks or even a HELLO from the manager (Mr. Riccardi) until I appeared to be headed in the direction of the cash register, at which point he felt the need to interject with an obligatory wave goodbye. All in all, a boutique that seems to be populated more by wealthy (Chinese) tourists and Harvard students than by local Bostonians and trend spotters. The clothes in Riccardi are BEAUTIFUL, but remember that money can't always buy style, and you DEFINITELY can find cheaper. I was visiting Boston recently and came to this shop I've been hearing about for years. Let me say WOW! I actually came early on a Monday dressed very casually in sweats and a hat after leaving the gym. The staff was super laid back and easy to communicate with. I think it was the owners son who helped me with some Amiri jeans. He was very positive on sizing and I ended up buying not 1 but 2 pairs of jeans that day because of the esteem booster of fit etc. I would definitely pass by if I ever go to Boston again. read more
