Fish and Shrimp Dinner
Kisha L.

I have not been at Bobs Big Boy since I was a little girl they have a big menu and the food is very reasonable. I ordered the fish and shrimp but it was just OK because my fish was full of batter and I did not care for the batter taste on the shrimp. It was different than the fish batter. My mom ordered fried chicken and she loved it. Service was excellent. The place had a nice old-fashioned Metro diner vibe. The prices are unbelievable for all the food and sides you get. Easy parking in front.

I'll make this short and sweet, if that's even possible for me. Many years later, I found myself here again, at one of the few remaining Bob's Big Boys and the second of two in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. I noticed a few things on my last visit. I'll start out with what could use some improvement. The cashier was a little frosty. The interior is looking a little more worn, but isn't everything else in SoCal, including the housing stock in this immediate area, which once upon a time used to look "modern?" I'll now move on to what was good. The Big Boy double decker burger was better than how I described the one in my last review - it was nicely cooked and better presented. I was very satisfied with my lunch here. The waitress (can we say that in the New Millennium?) was very nice and spirited, meaning a good brand of sassy. I also appreciate that this double decker burger combination keeps on keeping on. Okay, this Northridge Big Boy location does not look like the iconic stand-alone one in Burbank, but there will also be less fanfare and it will be a more low key experience. I should just be thankful that there are are still a few Bob's Big Boy restaurants in the Southland. So, in my estimation, the important things - the food and the service - raise this location to 4 stars.

Chili size
Larry O.

The chili size--an open faced hamburger covered with chili and cheese--used to be fairly common in American diners, but not so much anymore. We tried the chili size at Bob's Big Boy, and it was delicious, the best I've ever had. The chili was not spicy, and I like spicy, but still I wouldn't change anything about it. The top of the bun was a thick slice of bread, grilled with cheese, crunchy and cut diagonally. They didn't scrimp on the chili, and it was so filling, I regretted ordering the onion rings. I'll go back again. And again.

This is a newer Bob's Big Boy and not your dad's era. Located southwest of Northridge Shopping Center, it is located on the east side of Corbin and can't be missed. My go to Big Boy Combination was good but not great, as they forgot my request for a side of ranch for the fries. I've to the Burbank and Downey locations recently and feel this location is not as good as the others. Another item I ordered was the Country Fried Steak, which was okay, but forgot the bread. Probably more attention to detail is needed to improve to go experience...

Food in trash

First and Last time coming here. Came in during my lunch time. Just looking for fries nothing special. Upon completing my order, waiter asked if I wanted napkins and utensils, I said yes please. Once I received my order I requested for ketchup, waiter said give me a second. I waited there for couple minutes and nothing. I left the place cause I was on a short timeframe. I opened the bag inside my car I realized they gave me raw potatoes with greasy bell peppers. I was like wow this is not what I was expecting but let me give it a try. So I started looking for napkins and a fork, too my surprise there was no napkins and forks. So now here I go back to restaurants requesting ketchup, napkins, and a fork. Once again same waiter said give me a second but proceeded to sit other customers after having me wait again. Now that she gave me the requested items I left and gave the food a try. All I can say is I spitted the food right back. Potato was not even cooked and bathed in grease. Never coming back here.

Patty Melt Combo 10/10

I still really like this place due to the fact I have been many many times and most of their food options are delicious. However their chili was just not good at all. It was watery, flavorless, and I did not enjoy the tons of raw onion on top. I do not recommend getting this item, their burgers and fried chicken is way better. Service is amazing, the sweetest people, very accommodating without complaint, friendly and fast, I like the location because it's right next to target haha and kohls. Overall I do like this place I just think that one menu item was not very good.

We almost didn't go in after reading some reviews. I'm so glad we did! Our memories growing up eating at Bob's Big Boy from the 70"s were great. First off on the Door was a A from an inspection. We walked in and 3 different workers greeted us with smiles and welcomed us. The place was clean. Laid back atmosphere. Lots of history on the walls. Big dinning room. Only 4 other people were there. In the back there was a round table with elderly women playing cards. They got up after while moved to a new table to eat, then went back to finish their game. It made me smile most restaurants want you in and out quickly. The food was really good. I had the good old fashion Bob's combo. It came with a salad and fries. The salad was fresh and the thousand island dressing, it was the thick old fashion kind. The fries I normally would pass on but these were cooked just right and a side of really good buttermilk ranch. The burger was perfectly cooked with the special sauce. It was way too much food so of course I had a to go box. My husband had the French dip. He said it was just like he remembered as a kid. He also enjoyed his salad and fries. He never uses ranch on his fries but he tasted mine and was sold. He also ordered an Orange Creamsicle shake and it was soo good. They use real ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top. It comes with the old fashion metal cup so there's plenty. So glad we went in. We figured we could always walk out if it was dirty. It was clean and the wait staff were all very helpful and happy. Clean bathrooms. Our bill was about $40. It was a great walk down memory lane. Too bad Bob's is closed in our town. Great diner food.

Pappy Parker's Fried Chicken Includes: 2 sides, side salad & toasted bread $21

Came here on a Monday around 4pm. The place was pretty empty, but service was a little slow. There were only 2 servers at this time. The place does feel dated and old as the booth I was seated at, you can see that the upholstery was worn out and had tears in them. I ended up ordering the fried chicken dinner. You get 2 sides and a salad with this. I ordered the onion rings and mashed potatoes for my 2 sides. The food actually came out faster than I thought it would. Most likely because it was empty. The fried chicken had a thick coating on it, but it was seasoned well. You get 4 pieces, but the pieces are on the smaller side. I would have like more meat on the chicken to be honest. The mashed potatoes come with country gravy. The gravy was pepper forward, but was good. The onion rings were probably frozen. Overall, the food was decent, but not the best fried chicken I've had. The chicken from Country Deli is way better better than at Bob's.

Absolutely huge burger and I took out a fork to eat it. The root beer tasted perfect and the fries didn't need seasoning at all. By the way the bbq sauce made the meal 10/10. Came here on 14th of May 2025 and I was greeted right away. The host sat me and told me the waitress will take your order. She made me feel special. She took time to make eye contact. She was extremely friendly and every request I asked her for she did it and was very polite.

I haven't been to Bob big boy in many many years and found out why. I ordered the fish sandwich which looked absolutely delicious in the picture, but what I received looked NOTHING like the picture advertised. I took one bite and had to spit it out, it was so bland and the fish looked and tastes like it was frozen.

Different menu than the Burbank Location but very similar

We came here because we were craving Bobs Breakfast. Sadly it's not the same as the one in Burbank. It was just ok. Place was empty around 9am. Service was Great and attentive but food was missing a Je ne sais quoi, but for the price it fills the craving

This is a close-up of the booth where we sat

We were a little apprehensive about eating here once we saw the terrible state of disrepair of the booth seats. There were literally large holes in the seats & in the back rests, and the fabric was significantly worn in virtually every booth. My wife and I were very hungry, so we elected to stay and order lunch. I will say that my All American Burger and my wife's Big Boy combo were very tasty, and we enjoyed our lunch immensely. The service was very good. Thus, my only criticism is they really need to spend some money and fix up their booth seats. I'm not picky, it really looks terrible.

Bob's Famous Hot Fudge Cake with lukewarm fudge :-/

We used to have a Bob's BB in Oxnard when I was a kid and my family went 2-3x/week (every family has their place, and that was ours). It closed down and I was left heartbroken. I've been wanting to relive Bob's forever and today was my chance... at least I thought. We stood in the front for a while before being sat. Noticed the inside was dingy, could use a deep cleaning I'm sure. Waitress came by: no greeting, no smile, just "are you ready to order?" Wanted to get a few things a la carte but I was told no. We ordered a club sandwich to split and a vanilla shake. There were two tables in the restaurant and the fries were cold. Do restaurants really think customers don't notice this?! Club was just meh, nothing special. Chocolate fudge cake is now half the portion and served in a bowl?! Fudge was lukewarm warm, just a bummer all around. Best experience was getting a pic with Bob outside but I hope they do something to refurb him. I'm going to try Bob's in Burbank soon in hopes of a better experience.

Country boy plate and a side of sausage links. Yummy.

Is the franchise still supported by their creators or has the brand died? The reason I ask is if the quality standards are watched or just a free for all... Burbank gets higher reviews than Chatsworth

I do not know the business aspect of this restaurant, but the food and the Bob's big boy theme has not changed. Just dined here on Thursday.

Don't even get me started on their little fruit bowls with the cream ball thing and Nutella sauce dip they serve with the breakfast! Drinks are phenomenal. I'm a huge sweet cream type of girl, so the butterscotch is my go to. I'm a creature of habit and I highly recommend this drink to anyone who has a sweet tooth with a coffee addiction. Don't get me started on how nice the place feels and looks inside. Like a lot of people described, it is super cozy and welcoming. They have a big mirror near the entrance you can take pictures with your friends at, and as a girl, I looove it haha. There's two levels, like a loft area you can chill at if you like towering over all the other customers. I love high places so that's my favorite spot to chill. The store itself is very well themed and the decore is pretty cool. Service was even better. The good looking guy with curly hair (I think his name is Luis) who serves me on occasion is always so sweet and polite, great customer service skills. Too bad for me he has a gf, but we looove a loyal king who loves his girl! The other employees are great too btw everyone has a great attitude every time I've been, they handle the stress of the rushes well and are easy to relate to. They make it feel less as a transaction, and more like seeing a friendly acquaintance you get to catch up with. Clearly Yellowhouse has employees who know what they're doing with being not only efficient, but delivering quality drinks and service. Great all around, 10/10 would recommend.

If you cannot get street parking in front of the cafe, you are better off parking in the Harbor Freight parking lot off Nordhoff and taking the 2 minute walk. Yellow House is nestled between other small businesses but you won't miss the entrance as it is highlighted by a big yellow wall. Ambiance: The exterior of the building almost plants the idea that the cafe will be small, but once entering the building you get a different feeling. The interior is spacious even having 2 stories. The interior exudes a calm, cozy, minimalistic feel. It really does feel like you are walking into a warm inviting yellow home, albeit a little loud and busy. There is a good amount of natural light coming from all the windows and depending on the time of year, they also decorate for each holiday. Drinks: We have gotten the tiramisu iced latte, creme brulee matcha, Earl grey Matcha, and Strawberry matcha, and sea salt caramel americano. Order all drinks half sweet or you'll get a cavity- heed the warning of this tooth fairy. But in all seriousness, their drinks are SWEET so be aware. All of the drinks taste like what they advertise though which is amazing! If you're looking for top tier matcha quality this isn't the place, this isn't Rocky's matcha but if you're in sheer desperation and ache for some green drink derived from leaves, it'll work. Service: Everyone is nice and the drinks come out pretty quickly considering their crafted nature. Overall: There's a reason we keep coming back! It's reliable, has lots of cool varieties, and consistent! Although I will say a bit overpriced, but that seems to be everywhere these days so eh.

We decided to come back with friends but on a Wednesday night at 6:30 instead. Sat at a table in the area where the music was but it was very loud and tightly packed with tables and guests. I could barely hear my friends due to the loud conversations, loud laughter, and just the acoustic affects in the restaurant were bad from that. We ordered steak, sides, and thought baked potatoes but got mashed instead. After we ate dinner we asked the manager if we could seat outside for dessert instead due to the loud noises around us. He brought us there but we had to wait at the bar outside till we were seated took an additional 15-20 minutes. After seated it was better than inside with a nice decor too instead. Dessert was ok service good. For such a high-ended restaurant and pricy food it's only avarage, inside decor pretty but very and tightly packed with guests and loud especially for a week day night kind of unusual, I was disappointed think it's a bit overrated sorry to say. I think Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Morton's are better food wise for the same price and dining experience and not as loud too. Think what could make it better is to thin out the crowded packed affect in the main inside dining area would help a lot too, or, if we ever go back sit outside instead I recommend. The service and staff there were very nice, friendly, and attentive and worked hard during service though. So overall raiting is a 3. Tuesday music night inside was good though think because the band is set up where tables of guests would be so less talking and guests listening to the music instead. Hope they make some changes to there inside seating there for improvements will and could help overall.

FOOD 01. squash blossoms ($21 for 5 pc): 8.3/10 these were crispy and light, delightful to eat on their own without the tomato marinara sauce served on the side. casalena's squash blossoms had a strong, lovely hint of lemon that wasn't present in mother wolf's rendition. 02. chicken piccata ($29): 7.5/10 this main was served with a generous helping of potatoes mashed into a delicious velvet. 03. vodka lumaconi ($25): 9/10 this dish was the standout of the evening! the pasta shells were cooked al dente and coated in a slightly spicy, perfectly savory vodka sauce! casalena does not skimp on the sauce in any of their dishes! 04. tagliatelle ($29): 7/10 this pasta dish was not nearly as impressive. 05. tiramisu ($15): 7/10 since we mentioned the dinner was for a special occasion in our reservation, this dessert was served with a candle. while its presentation was lovely, its taste was underwhelming. the espresso was extremely subtle, and there was more madeline than mascarpone/cream. overall, our party of 4 was fully satiated after splitting 1 appetizer, 3 mains, and 1 dessert. service was lovely throughout! and as another yelpie mentioned in their review, their matchbook is very nice.
