Had the moco loco. First time ever having it and it was tasty. The gravy was excellent and rice cooked well also. The meat was good; however, there was a weird aftertaste you get with charbroiled meat on occasion where the aftertaste is a little stinky, but only a few bites and there was a little cartilage/ bone in the meat ( not a cardinal sin with BBQ). This place is no frills bbq. Husbands meal was good also, would like to try again when in town to find my best BBQ dish. So many to try and choose from. read more

Guarantee this place will make you full. Really good BBQ and meats. Located at the intersection of Dillingham Blvd and Waikamilo Ave, you can't miss the outside seating and big sign that says "Bob's Bar-B-Que" located on the top of hut which is the kitchen. The parking is small and maybe hard to get in and/or out of, but it is well worth trying to figure out how to get to this destination. It is a little pricey, but they make your food when you order. Personally, I'm always skeptical when I see a menu with plenty of different foods but the grill is always on and the food is cooked to perfection. Ribs, local moco, chicken, etc....ALL good to go.....in your belly. I usually don't eat mac salad, but this one is on point. You can easily share a plate with your loved one, or if you're really hungry, this place will curb that feeling. When I'm a carnivore, ribs are on of the first meats I run to! I heard about Bob's so from reading all the reviews, I needed to see what the hype was about. We came here on a rainy Saturday around 11am. It wasn't crowded so there was lots of parking in the private lot. The menu contains so many options for locals and visitors alike. I got the baby back ribs and fried shrimp combo with baked beans on the side. My friend got the hibachi chicken and kal bi and my boyfriend got the full baby back ribs. It all smelled so delicious. We took it to go and by the time were were leaving the place, it was getting kinda crowded. We got home and dug into the bbq plates. I was expecting the portions to be a little bigger or maybe the ribs to be bigger but it was still a decent size. The food I've had has been pretty good. I had the Kalbi and I remember it being alright but my coworker said she really likes the Kalbi. I've also had the Bob's meal which is the cheeseburger deluxe with fries and a drink, and it's also pretty good. They have chocolate malts and I got one today. It was also pretty good. I've also had the bbq and it was pretty good. Not really expensive but definitely not cheap by any means. This is a Small little place with some beat up benches our expectations were low. We all got an assortment of food, kalbi ribs & shrimp, Kalua pork, hibachi chicken & even a burger and fries. Don't be fooled by the rough exterior or scant seating - it's wonderful. Price is great, too. Cheaper than any of the other chain takeout places. I live in Texas, so of course anything claiming to be "bar-b-que" is right up my alley. If you're visiting or live here and haven't tried Bob's, stop reading this review and go straight there. I got the Special - Pork Lau Lau and Kalua pig. Let me tell you how tender and full of flavor this pork is. We in Texas need to learn about how this is done. It doesn't taste like seasoning, it tastes like pork bred to be the tastiest thing you've ever eaten without adding anything before cooking. My husband got the Teri Chicken, which was also very good. Portions are HUGE - two people could easily share a plate. Rice was the perfect accompaniment to the two pork dishes in the special. I've always passed by this place for years driving along Dillingham Blvd and finally tried this place out. There's a lot of familiar local "plate lunch" dishes on the menu like chicken katsu, BBQ chicken, teri beef, burgers, fries, etc. This place looks well loved but don't let that deter you. I got the Kalbi combo with shrimp and hubby got the chicken katsu. First off, the prices are really reasonable. Kalbi combo was only about $14 and came with 3 pieces of bone in Kalbi, 3 pieces fried shrimp, 2 scoops rice and your choice of side - corn, Mac salad or tossed green. I appreciate that the side came in a separate container. The chicken katsu was pretty food. I prefer a specific katsu sauce so if you like the food old ketchup and Worcestershire sauce then you'll love the chicken katsu here. read more

Most of my visits to Bob's lately have been strictly for their malts....oh boy do I love their chocolate malt!!! So good when an ice cream cone from Mcdonald's from across the street just wouldn't suffice. Great deal for the size and price. Of course the best thing to go with the malt is french fries. MMmm...Anyway, this time I opted for onion rings. I know, I know..onions does NOT go with a chocolate malt but I'm a fan of a good onion ring. Boy was I disappointed with this decision. The taste was fine. Typical crunchy, oily rings with soft onions inside but my complaint is for the price. 4 rings for $3.25?! No, No, No. Not worth the price. If you read my other review on Bob's, you know that our problems there stemmed, in large part, from not taking the advice of other Yelpers. So when we went last night, we arrived determined to follow through on the research. That meant ordering at least two of: Kalbi, Hibachi Chicken, Pork Chop. The discipline is harder that one might think; the menu is full of so many fun sounding options. But we ordered the Kalbi (a regular came with 3 strips), a Hibachi Chicken combo (with fried shrimp), and a bacon cheeseburger with their seasoned, curly q fries. The outcome: excellent. Portions were good; food taste was very good. The only complaint was the rice, which was mushy. That's a serious demerit for me (I like my rice done right). But it was not enough to dampen our evening. Parking was decent in their lot at 9p on a Friday night. There was a bit of a wait, but at least the food was fresh. They do pretty good business at that hour. Plenty of seating in their outdoor seating area, and in mid-March, the temperature was very comfortable -- didn't use the sweatshirt I had brought. My family and I were recommended to stop by Bob's by our Uber driver, and boy are we happy that we did. We (thankfully) stopped by Bob's on our first day there, and we returned two more times before leaving Hawaii. Bob's is nothing super fancy, but the quality, portion size and price are beyond worth venturing into the industrial part of town. It is literally a small little shack, on a corner lot, surrounded by mostly big buildings and a few fast food restaurants. The woman at the counter was very friendly, and recommended a few plates to us when we were a bit overwhelmed at the quite extensive menu. I had the hibachi chicken, it was fabulous! It came with one scoop of perfectly sticky rice and the best mac salad I have ever had. I had this same meal twice, actually. I also tried the pancakes, oh boy were they tasty. I ordered the baked beans with the Polish sausage and I would say that the beans are the bomb !!! The sausage was a little salty but it had a nice smoked flavor. I also ordered the BBQ beef ribs and they were ok. I think Tony Roma's a lot better but these were passable. They don't reheat well though. They get tough and have a gamey aftertaste. The person that ordered after me seemed like she was a regular. She knew exactly what she wanted and ordered two orders of the baked beans and two orders of the pork chops so I think I'll try the pork chops the next time I'm in the area. Did you ever notice the aroma of teriyaki when you're passing through the intersection of Waiakamilo and Dillingham? Has it made you hungry? Blame it on Bob's Barbecue! It's a go-to place for me when I don't feel like cooking. They're open early on Sunday mornings too, so it's great for me when I get invited to go trolling on my friend's boat. I just call ahead, and by the time I get there, it's ready! No need to wake up extra early to make everybody's lunch! While I don't ever recall having anything I didn't like, my absolute favorite would have to be the Teri Chicken. The perfect blend of suger, garlic and shoyu... The portion they serve seems to be deboned chicken thigh, not breast. I guess that's why it's never too dry! Just the other day, I stopped in for a mixed plate, and it made the car smell gooood!!! After a failed attempt at surfing at Sand Island, 6 of us came to fill our bellies at Bobs. So driving by this place you wouldn't think it would be anything great. It's basically a window you order from and you have to eat outside on their picnic tables. The day we went it had been raining all day off and on but we got lucky and found covered seats. It definitely looks like a hole in the wall place and personally I wouldn't have chosen the place myself just based on that alone. It doesn't give off that welcoming vibe if you will. One thing I am learning here in Hawaii is you can't "judge a book off it's cover." One of the guys with us loves it and recommended it so we put our trust in him and I am so happy we did. When we arrived two of us had to use the ladies room-there are not bathrooms so keep that in mind. We walked next door to Taco Bell and they were kind enough to let us use theirs. The line wasn't very long and we got to order and the food came out in a decent amount of time. They are a cook to order place. There were some people that were waiting on food when we got there and we got to see some of the dishes they ordered. This one lady had gotten a massive order of ribs and they were HUGE! lol I couldn't believe my eyes. The friend who took us here recommended the grilled Ahi Tuna so of course 4 of us got that. It's nice you can order a small or large and I am SO glad I got the small because it was still such a big portion and it was only like $7.50 if I remember correctly. It was served with white rice, mac salad, a wedge of lemon and holy moly the BEST dipping tartar sauce everrrrrr. I was super impressed. The other dishes ordered were some sort of pulled pork sandwich and another pork dish wrapped in bamboo leaves. I don't eat pork but they said they thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. They did have a variety of sauces on the counter that you can help yourself to. We had this house made ketchup I believe for the curly fries and regular fries that other people ordered too and that was also delicious. I would come back in the future. My kids and I love the Bob's Meal, which is a cheeseburger, fries and a large drink. It's made fresh and inexpensive vs getting it at a fast food drive-through. My hopes were not high when we pulled up. My husband found this place on Yelp. We needed a spot to eat before dropping some people off at the airport. It's not clean, that's for sure. I don't know if everything they sell tastes good but what I had did. I got the bbq combo plate, I'm not sure which number. I think it's pretty standard but I was satisfied. It is covered in sauce which is very salty but tastes good. Not a fan of Hawaiian style Mac Salad, too mayonnaise-y. This place isn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Despite this being so close to work this is my first time eating lunch here! My coworkers and I all had different yummy plates of food. There was Kalbi ribs and Teri burger with fries the fried fish plate and I got the grilled Saba. All very good and everyone cleaned their plates. There were some pretty grimy houseless people that were malingering about but they kept to themselves. If you're bothered by that sort of thing you can just get it to go. Well.... the picture says it all. This place needs a thorough cleaning and fixing. I was craving some bbq ribs and we ended up here. I hadn't been here in years. I ordered baby back bbq ribs and the bf had mixed plate with kalbi, bbq chicken and teri beef. He says he didn't know why he ordered that because the teri always is tough. It was tough...lol. Kalbi wasn't very flavorful but tender and juicy! I didn't taste the chicken. Oh yeah, he also had some fat boy teri burger too...lol! It was a teri burger with an egg...I took 2 bites and liked it! My ribs were good... wished I had just a tad more bbq sauce on the side or something. Now... the Mac salads included with our plates, which comes in a small little Styrofoam container we're both sour! I felt like it was improperly refrigerated or something. The whole place looks very very very very very neglected....grungy in 2020 is no longer "charming and homey" is just screams "germ ridden". I think this is the last time I'll be patronizing here. First time in Hawaii. Pleasantly surprised by this place, looks alone would detoour most first timers but the food changes opinions very quickly. We shared the kalbi rib and chicken katsu plates. I'm so used to getting thin cut, chewy and mainly fat pieces however this was quite the surprise. Genourous portions, thick and meaty the katsu was well fried, not overly coated with breading. Delicious local spot. Huge portions and so flavorful. This was recommended by our tour guide at Kualoa Ranch and it did not disappoint.
