Located on 145 North King Street they have garage parking you enter on Nimitz Hwy before River street if you want to park in the garage if not I had my wife turn up River street and take a right on to North Nimitz and less than 20 yards on the right side there was Chun's Meat Market and I got out and my wife went around as I ordered the char Sui. Today her price was $13.99 per pound and Fong which is located the stall next door was $17.99. The Char Sui pork was moist and tender and flavorful, she mentioned if you like after warming it up in the microwave you can drizzle some honey and it is also delicious. She also put on some crispy fried pig skin so I asked her about it and she recommended it so I bought some of that also. The crispy pig skin was still nice and crispy and light and crunchy, which was very good. The lady at the counter must be the owner was very nice and friendly and they also have a fresh seafood market also which sells a lot of different seafoods from fresh lobster, crab, Geoduck, Cheery Stone Clams, and Manila Clams.

When shopping for my part time job I'm often tasked on getting things that sends me on somewhat of a goose hunt that is challenging and stressful. The employee meal was going to be a large pot of rice soup (jook) and the chef wanted all sorts of pork items, including innards. There are some stalls that carry innards but limited variety as I noticed one by one selection was minimal. After going to my go to stall, I was short a few items so I made my way over to Chun's Meat Market (CMM), which is located Makai side of N King Street, not too far from the corner of Kekaulike Street, with the iconic Oahu Market sign above. CMM has been in business for several decades, dating back to the late 80's. They have a variety of fresh meats and seafoods, along with roasted meats. Upon arrival I checked out their display case and immediately found the innards I was looking for. I asked for about a pound of small intestines and fun cheung (don't know what it's called in English but in the photo attached). Service was friendly and efficient. It's quite spacious, bright and clean. However, there was some questionable foot traffic that can make people feel uncomfortable but hold onto your personal belongings. Overall, above average experiences at CMM where I see myself coming back again. Large selection of offerings and perhaps I'll look into their seafood and perhaps their roasted meats. 2025 #40

First time buying from Chuns. I liked that they have a menu posted right on the plexiglass. Since Nam Fong closed, I've been trying to find good duck wings. I was excited to see them at Chuns! However I would not buy them again because they were salty and tasted like they were just boiled - didn't care for the texture. Also ordered half pound of roast duck. They had a huge slab, a smaller slab, and a tiny end piece. I was disappointed that she gave me the end piece because it was very fatty. But it was not salty so I might try them again. Service was okay - lady was passively kind, she upsold me, which was fine, but then grumbled to her daughter as I walked away.

An unassuming stand in Chinatown on S King with amazing roasted meats! The service was so friendly and welcoming and smells mouthwatering. I tried the roasted pork and duck...the crispy roasted pork almost didn't make it home and I couldn't help myself. So crispy and moist. I did refrain myself from temptation with the duck but it was also delicious! Will definitely come back ao!

[Food] - Roasted Pork ($13.99/lb): Never a miss, always a hit for me! Pork is juicy! A great balance of lean and fatty pieces with an addictive crispy skin. I love grabbing a small box and taking it to a nearby Pho restaurant to indulge in noodles and roasted pork! Or sometimes I'll even come by for a box to take with me to the beach as a snack or even as another dish for dinner! [Service] - Fast, friendly, helpful - The nice lady gave us a few extra yummy pork skins to add to our box, thank you! (: [Overall] - I always come back here when I'm in the area! Super delicious and nostalgic for me since I've been here multiple times with my family as a child during the holidays. - I hope they stay there forever as it's one of the best not just on the island but even better than most places in Bay Area, CA! - I've also tried the Char Siu and Roasted Duck, which both were just as delicious, just not as amazing as the Roast Pork

Ordered a whole pig for a party, and the look on my mom's face says it all. Overall, it was a big hit with everyone at the party.

Ordered a whole pig for a party, and the look on my mom's face says it all. Overall, it was a big hit with everyone at the party. The guys at Chun's are always super nice and a pleasure to deal with. I asked them if they opened on New Years Day, and he said, "We're open everyday." Haha. I think it's good to know of spots that will be open everyday, including all holidays, when you're in need of something good to eat.

......Chinatown Honolulu....rich with variety and tradition...located in the heart of Chinatown and nestled in the old Oahu market....Chun's has deep roots here. Early Sunday morning, when all the flavors and products are fresh, is when I enjoy shopping at this venue. Chun's has raw meat as well as fully cooked products for sale. I ordered a shoyu chicken, one that was hanging in the glass showcase, for our party. The server asked me if I wanted the whole cooked chicken cut into pieces and I replied yes please. She chopped the chicken into nice portions and arranged them into the box. I also ordered a 1/2 pound of char siu and a 1/2 pound of roasted pork. As I bite into the piece of shoyu chicken, there is a complex layer of flavor to the meat. Nestled in there are the star anise taste, a Chinese spice flavor and of course shoyu. You get the feeling that this recipe has been passed down through the generations! The char siu is rich in flavor and texture. The sweet meaty piece has that distinctive char on the outer edge. The leftovers will accompany any Saimin dish or fried rice serving. The roasted pork is meaty as well...meaning more meat than fat. A beautiful crusty crunch blended with a satisfying moist bite. Parking in this area is a challenge in itself. There are no tables or chairs to sit on.

If you're looking for the most affordable Chinese roast meats, as well as raw meats, and do not care at all about quality, preparation, and freshness, then by all means, this is the place for you! But if you want roast meat that is prepared well, tasty, clean, and fresh, and is willing to spend just a couple of dollars more per pound, then avoid this place! Chun's Meat Market has been a staple in Chinatown for a long time. It's located next to Oahu Market along South King Street. There's parking at the Municipal parking garage behind it with all metered stalls, entering from Ala Moana Blvd. Or come on Sunday and you can park anywhere, loading zones included. I've had roast meats from here many, many times throughout the years, and it's never by choice. Never once did I have a good experience. Roast pork was the most often, and it is terrible. The pork belly isn't the best quality or have been in frozen storage for ages. There's a slight off-putting taste, which is more pronounced because the pork has zero taste. The skin doesn't even crisp properly to a nice, crackly, puffy bubbles. You're often left with rubbery, hard roasted skin that's inedible. What's also odd is the skin doesn't even stay on the meat! Compared to all the roast porks in Chinatown, this one ranks at the absolute bottom. Even restaurants that deep fry their roast pork to reheat them taste better! Recently had pork stomach, and it was gross and inedible! The stomach was not cleaned and poorly prepared. The awful and unpleasant smell and taste of organ meat that wasn't cleaned well or at all was obviously there. No one could eat any of it after one bite. I couldn't waste it, so I cleaned it myself and I could see the fat and other impurities stuck on it. After boiling it for over an hour, and a good rinse, it was fine. Can't stand offal meats not cleaned well! Their roast duck is very subpar. There is no "roast" at all. The meat is tough, dry, and bland, and the skin isn't even crispy! It's soft and the fat didn't even render off at all. Awful! Take a close look at the photo, and you can see what I'm talking about. Don't even bother with the duck wings with fingernails on. They're old, bony, tough, and one more taste. There's no meat, just skin. Pass. Last one I'll talk about is the Char Siu. Again, no "roast" at all. It seemed like they were just boiled to a well over done and soaked in a bland, tasteless sauce with red food coloring. Moving on for the roast meats, Chun's does offer a variety of raw meats and seafood. Whatever you're looking for, they'll probably have it from frozen rabbit to live frogs and fish to frozen chickens to pork blood cakes to king salmon, and etc. These fare better since they can't "butcher" it from cooking. Timing is key for the meats as you could get super fresh meat or very old meat, but take a closer look or even a smell of they let you. The seafood section is much better with so much variety and they're all fresh and well-kept. Overall, it's a big operation here with so much variety of meats and seafood. The staff here are aplenty and they're all generally friendly and helpful. They can kill, clean and prepare any meat and seafood to your liking, except for the roast meats apparently. The prices are cheaper than most, with the quality rarely a hit and usually a miss. Just stay far, far, far away from the roast meats!

Chun's Meat Market has a large variety of meat to choose from and it all looked delicious. Although I did not get to try it this time, the roast chicken with its glistening skin in the window looked mouthwatering. My friends bought the the roast pork and the roast duck, which I was able to try to get an idea of how some of the roast meat taste. The roast pork was too glutinous for my taste. Its skin wasn't very crispy and tasted a little burned. The roast duck was solid but the skin also not as crispy as I'd like. Chun's Meat Market a good choice if one is in Chinatown, but Asian Mix on Beretania still wins for some of the most succulent and crispy roast duck and roast pork in the city. I will return to Chun's Meat Market to sample some of its other meat including that roast chicken.

My goodness, talk about perfect green beans, this was still crisp and not over cooked. Nicely seasoned and not too oily...I could eat that everyday! If you enjoy Honey Walnut Shrimp, they do an excellent job here. I like that it didn't have an abundance of mayonnaise. In fact, our batch had an added bonus for a nice crunch effect....kettle potato chips, whole and not crumbs. Might even have been the Maui Onion flavor, not sure but it was good! Last but not least, our family dinner enjoyed the House rice noodles and steamed fish. The thin rice noodles had generous portion of shrimp, beef, and vegetables. Quite hearty, here's to long life :) Easy to find, lots of free parking, not in Chinatown, and BYOB. What's not to like?

The first thing I saw when I walked in was the owner making dumplings by hand. That immediately gave me the feeling I was in the right place. Growing up I watched my own Mom make our version of dumplings, so seeing that kind of care and craftsmanship felt familiar. The owner was warm and very welcoming, and as each dish was completed she brought it out fresh from the kitchen, which gave me a chance to taste the food while it was still steaming. It was hot, but I could not stop myself from sampling it :) Everything I ordered was delicious and clearly made fresh. I'll be honest though, watching the dumplings being prepared right in front of me was a real highlight. I'm sure that some of you out there can relate to this. I also had the chance to meet owner's mother and another gentleman who I believe may have been family, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but it did not feel rushed. We had a good time talking story while the food was being prepared. It was a challenge for me to drive home with all that food in the back of my car. I was tempted to pull over and just indulge, but I remembered that I had to share it lol My summary? Good food, genuine hospitality, and a great first impression. I will definitely be back.
