The food was AMAZING!!! Found this place by chance and I'm definitely coming back, they give samples and they are such sweet people with great service, running this place, 100 stars if I could, feels like I'm at a family members house and everything is cooked with love you can tell

100% worth the calories. Delicious food cooked with love from amazing people. Very friendly and get to know their customers while you wait also serving samples. Creamy, spicy deliciousness in every bite with the fish, grits and of course overload. So much food for an amazing price! Will definitely be back for more when I'm in the area!

OMG! This place is a MUST! If you're looking to pick up some home cooking, this is the place for you. To say the food is top notch is an understatement! This is a hole in the wall you don't wanna pass up. Don't let the store front fool you! Believe me when I say it's a MUST TRY! We got the hot topic & overload combo. Chef's kiss! Pasta, with white sauce, sausage, shrimp, & blackened fish. Perfection! I got fried fish on the side. OMG! Fried to perfection. 10 out of 10! We forgot to take a pic of the entire plate before we dug in. Husband/Wife owners- they were so sweet and a perfect pair. We will definitely be regulars!

I've been wanting to try Bobobs for quite some time. We have family in town so we decided to order to go. We were told the order would be ready in 25 min. We got there with 5 min to spare but it took an hour for us to get our food. Bobobs is located inside of a gas station and is very much a hole in a wall which can be charming but in this case there was nothing esthetically positive. The area at night is roughhhhhh. The food itself was ok. The Hot topic was very salty. They also forgot our fries. That being said, they included a lot of shrimp, sausage, and fish. The main flavors you got were salt and butter. The gumbo was a bit more balanced but not mind blowing.

    The overload

So Yelp provided me this suggestion and it looked so interesting, soul food out of a gas station. I consider myself fairly adventurous so why not? Walking in, you really wouldn't think much of this spot. It is literally inside the Valero gas station store but walk on towards the back and you'll start smelling various spices and food. I came on a Saturday night and there were a few people already waiting on their dinners. The chefs provided me some samples (which were amazing) and took my order and sent me on my way with a hefty portion of delicious smelling food. There is very limited seating available. I got the overload and it was so good (and just as good leftover). Its a lot of food and I echo someone's sentiment that it's a tad salty but you eat it with rice and it is perfect. The rice soaks up all that wonderful creamy sauce, you get chunks of chicken, andouille, and shrimp and again, they do not skimp on the protein. Between the mom and pop shop, wonderful chefs, and amazing food, I can't wait to come back and get more food. They have gumbo and fried foods that I need to get! This is the epitome of do not judge a book by its cover so please bring the kind folks at bobobs your business.

Left, Blackened fish and shrimp. Right, The Overload, all served over white rice.

It was great, but I think I was given someone else's order. I did not receive the extra spinach I asked for, nor was I given catfish. This looks like the plate of someone who doesn't like vegetables. Lol The food was seasoned to perfection! The restaurant is located inside of a gas station and is situated in a tight area, but they do have a few tables for seating. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, which you made for a good experience. I will be back and I'll remind them to give me extra spinach!

Hot shot and broccoli/cornbread shrimp and cheese (something Cush?)

Between the impromptu prix fixe tasting in sauce cups all the way to the blackened and tasty char on the shrimp, this was a cultural experience that is second to none in my life thus far. Home. Style. Goodness.

    Hot Topic

So, you walk to the back of a gas station convenience store, that kind of atmosphere I think is always promising. It's a family business, and all of them were there. Super friendly. My husband told them it was our first time, and they immediately insisted on giving us samples. So nice. We had looked at the menu on yelp before going (as we all do, if you're still reading), and I held fast to my choice to get the Hot Topic, but my husband was swayed away from his decision on their fried food, and got the Overload. The pictures do not do justice to how delicious everything was. Rice is not my favorite starch, I'm more of a potato person, but you could put the sauce they make on a rock, and I'd probably try to eat it. The portions are really large. We will definitely be back, everything was fantastic!

The gumbo I had was awesome, so delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was great and I think the owner might be my biological father. Not sure, either way it's great and especially for a convenience store.

Cocktails, delicious. The daily food specials make it refreshing. The oysters never disappoint. We've rarely had to wait long on any ordered items and servers are all top notch. We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!

Their lobster roll is my favorite. Clark's knows how to make the best lobster roll around Houston. It's a 10/10. Nothing else needs to be said. It speaks for itself. Although the restaurant was not very crowded, the atmosphere was still very pleasant. The space is beautifully decorated, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but overall, I am unsure if the experience was strong enough to make me want to return. To start, my mom and I ordered the Crispy Calamari and the Charred Octopus. The octopus was easily the standout dish of our meal. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, and it paired well with the other components on the plate, including the crème fraîche, chili crunch, potato, and chorizo. A staff member also came by to cut the octopus for us and recommended that we eat it with everything on the plate, which elevated the experience. That said, I would have liked a bit more of the chimichurri to help brighten the dish and cut through the richness of the cream and potato. Unfortunately, the calamari was very average in comparison. While it was fried well in terms of color, the batter was overly thick and overwhelming, especially since the calamari itself was overcooked. The excessive batter made it tough and difficult to chew, to the point where it was hard to cut with a fork. The seasoning was good and the portion size was generous, but the texture ultimately took away from the dish. We also ordered the Angus Cheeseburger, though by the time it arrived, we were already quite full from the generous portions of the appetizers. We still gave it a try, but it was fairly ordinary. The bun was very soft and there was plenty of sauce, the fries were soggy, and while the smashed patties were cooked well, nothing about the burger stood out. Overall, while the service and ambiance were enjoyable, the food was inconsistent and did not fully justify a return visit. Aside from the excellent octopus, most of the dishes were forgettable, making this a place I would likely skip in favor of more reliable options nearby.

Parking ended up being easier than expected--street parking was free after 6 and we found a spot pretty quickly. We asked for a booth, but they told us the only one available was still occupied. The hostess gave us a couple options--either wait, sit in a more busy/noisy area, or go to what they call "the library," which is quieter and more intimate. We chose the library and I'm glad we did. It felt a lot more relaxed and away from all the noise. The place itself is really nice--very chic, good vibes. The bar area was pretty packed and the crowd was super diverse, which I liked. We ordered the crispy squid (calamari) to start--I'd give it like an 8/10. Flavor was good, just not as crispy as I expected. One of the hostesses actually came by and gave us complimentary Prosecco, which was a really nice touch. For mains, I got the 12 oz ribeye (asked for medium rare) with shrimp scampi--I'd say 7/10. Good portion, good flavor. My husband got the cowboy steak (medium), and we shared the gratin potatoes and creamy spinach. Both sides were also around a 7/10--solid, good portions, well-seasoned. The only thing was I think our steaks' doneness might've been switched. Mine came out medium and his was more medium rare. We told our server and we just ate it anyway, it was still good. We ended with crème brûlée--probably a 6/10 for me. It wasn't as smooth and velvety as I usually like, but still decent. Overall, I'd give the experience an 8/10. We enjoyed our time and I'd come back to try other things.

Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough.
