Inside Rueben sandwich

Service was slow. Rueben sandwich was not good. Bread was so crunchy it scraped the roof of my mouth. Brought half of it home. Here are Photos. The onion rings were tasty

I need to purchase some new catchphrases. Until then, I'll re-use one of my stock ones: "Where have you been all my life?!" Chugiak is an easy town to miss. It's between Eagle River and Wasilla/Palmer. Most locals blaze right by it, let alone tourists. However, it has not one, but TWO breakfast places. The other has very limited hours and I still haven't been. This one is a crisp, clean diner-style restaurant. What it has in common with classic diners: - bread is always pre-buttered - little single-serve jellies - hearty portions - country fried steak - gravy - various meat/egg/potato combos - coffee is functional and utilitarian, merely a vessel for caffeine-dosing What it does not have in common: - you pay at your table, not at the front! (I prefer this) Service was fast and friendly. I got a a meat and egg combo. Bacon was above-average, as were the hash browns. I'd definitely return!

Best breakfast in town. Great customer service. The food is always great and coffee cup always full. Not to loud or super busy.

Farmers breakfast is really good as are the burgers. The french fries are the skinny kind and terribly bland.

I've been here a few times already, and each time has been a great experience with delicious food…read more This time we got breakfasts plates, but definitely stop by for the other items like the tacos and carnitas. The meats are always tender, beans and rice are seasoned well, and they offer more salsas and condiments near their register.

The parking lot was packed so we weren't surprised to find a busy dining room. We were told it would be a 15 minutes wait but it was actually closet to 5 minutes. Service was friendly and attentive - I ordered a coffee and it was refilled constantly throughout the entire meal which I appreciate. You'd be surprised how often that little detail gets ignored at other breakfast/brunch places. I ordered the Birria hash and it was a lovely surprise - very flavorful with tender, juicy beef over crispy fried potatoes. I loved the different sauces, salsa, pickled onions, and even sour cream self-service bar from which I helped myself to some of their delicious avocado sauce and molcajete sauce. My companion said her crab Benedict was delicious and very filling. Food portions were generous, I had enough food to take home with me for a second meal. The ambiance of the place was impressive - sort of a modern Mexican feel with some fun details like the grocery items lined up on the wall above the registers. I will definitely be back to try some of the intriguing menu items I didn't get a chance to try. I didn't have any room left to try dessert so I'll have to do that next time!

A lunch review. In…read moreand out in under an hour worked great for us. Prime rib dip was what I enjoyed. Adult grilled cheese the other enjoyed. We both enjoyed the HUGE pile of fresh cut French fries and appreciated they kept our water glasses full. Friendly and prompt service, reasonable prices (for the state) and appears a great selection of beer (was a work lunch so will need to return for a cold one later)

Not only do they have a TON of taps. Pay no attention to some of the older reviews that specify the number of taps. The current number is now: 64. I'll say that again SIXTY-FOUR taps. If there is a place in the state of AK with more taps than that, I would like to know where it is. Currently, to my brain, this place is the current Sourdough Tap King. Anyway, not only do they have the MOST taps. They have some really unique stuff. There were beers on tap here that I've never even seen for sale at the larger Brown Jug warehouses! There are beers on tap I didn't even know were distributed in AK! Most impressive. The food, was just OK. I got some tacos and they were alright. They filled me up but weren't much to write home about. Given the Gambrinian fortitude on display here, I will definitely be back. It makes an excellent post-hike stop if you're up near Twin Peaks.
