Stopped by Bobby G's before a Cal basketball game. I arrived at Bobby G's around 5pm on a Tuesday night and was surprised by how quiet things were inside of the restaurant. I dont think there were more than five people in there. This had me a little worried. My daughter and I decided on a small cheese pizza. After a short wait, our pizza was ready and brought to us. While taking our slices from the pan we noticed how much cheese was on the pizza, so we were off to a good start. Upon first bite, there was a nice crunch of buttery crust, followed by just the right amount of sauce and gobs of tasty seasoned cheese. After finishing all but one slice of our small pizza my daughter and I were both extremely pleased with our decision to stop by Bobby G's before the game. read more

At $5 a special slice, I decided to stop in this pizza joint after attending a festival nearby. The solo bartender and waiter was patient as I decided what to order. I chose the special slice today - pepperoni, olives, and garlic in traditional marinara type sauce and cheese. I paired that with a can of Coke. Mid-day, this place wasn't very busy. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor tables, benches, and bar seats to choose from for seating. And although a football game was on the tvs above the bar, the noise level was decent. I stopped here after work to meet a friend for dinner. We ordered pizza by the slice, I had mushroom and they had cheese, we shared an order of chicken wings and a Caesar salad. I really liked their Caesar salad, and will return to order that. We each ordered an IPA to drink, they have a nice beer selection on tap. The football KC vs. Chargers game was playing on the big TV screens. While we were there a dj was setting up and people started singing karaoke. This seems like a nice spot close to the UC Berkeley campus that would attract lots of students and people who want a place to watch the game! read more

(Figured out later that it's changed owners again.) I ordered a The House IPA and a slice of pepperoni. Totally what I wanted. It hit the spot. I wanted a second of both but staff was socializing, so I had to wait. Once I drained my beer, staff was there immediately to check on me. Second round delivered, consumed, and then I was on my way. Second time at Bobby G's. First time was December for concert at UC theater as was this latest visit (Exodus!!!). Very close to theater, welcoming and friendly staff. Buddy ordered large pizza with salami, olives, and Italian sausage. Came out amazing with excellent crust that was perfect throughout. Was a bit big for two of us but plan was to save half for the three hour drive home to Fresno. As it would happen, I have a leg in a brace and use a wheelchair as well as crutches and the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Often available in case I needed a helping hand. Great beer selection as well. Frankly, I'm trying to think up an excuse to come back even without a concert there! read more

Ambience is to be expected for a pub next to a music venue, lively and fun they were playing sports when my wife and I attended. The brews are great. I had the passion of the fruit super delicious. Excellent pour. However, the food was truly abysmal. My wife got the basil pesto gnocchi, and I got a simple chicken Alfredo. Both of our dishes were around $17/18after we added chicken. Which the chicken was your typical Sysco food systems pre-cut chicken that was terribly, terribly dry and unseasoned. The pasta was overcooked and Alfredo sauce tasted more like pasta water than Alfredo. Great staff, other patrons were wonderful, just truly terrible food. However, some of the pizzas looked good that others got around us, but unfortunately, we won't be able to try it on this visit. read more

This place is infested with roaches. I don't mean there's one roach occasionally which would be understandable for a joint in downtown Berkeley. I mean they have a serious problem. I used to come to the bar for their popular trivia night and it was an awesome place to hang out. One night in 2025 I went there and sat down and saw about 10 cockroaches in the hour I was there. I pointed it out really discreetly and politely so as not to freak other patrons out. The staff's response told me everything I needed to know. They were used to it. Get help, guys. read more

This place is super fun! They have so many special events almost each and every evening (BINGO, karaoke, etc.), but what you really have to come for is TRIVIA NIGHT on Wednesdays. Free to play, and it's super clever and well done the way the rounds work. Make sure you have a good team name. And get there early because it fills up before the game starts at 7. I am 82 yers old and love this place. You can get a gruyere or goat cheese pizza and just about any topping you can think of. Of course it's expensive for these ingredients. This is hands down the best place to watch a game from any seat in the house. Wall to wall to wall to wall big screens. Two bars with great TVs. An awful lot of college kids but almost nobody would object. Stay away on trivia night because you won't find a seat. read more

Bobby G's looks like a casual fun place to have a meal with friends and family. The menu is pretty basic Italian foods you would expect at a casual dining restaurant. It has tv's around to watch a game and enjoy your food. For me, the food was just ok. I did not really enjoy my food. I ordered the chicken Parmigiana, stuffed breadsticks, and the Ham & Gruyere Panini. The best out of the 3 was the panini. It had thick slices of ham and crisp bread. It was a little dry and could have used more of the garlic aioli. The Chicken Parmigiana looked great with a good sized cutlet but it just lacked in flavor. As for the breadsticks, it looked great but once again lacked in flavor. I love stuffed breadsticks or stuffed crust but this was just bad. It was too much bread versus stuffing and the cheese had no flavor. TBH, Pizza Hut's stuffed crust was far superior to what I ordered here. It also did not help that this was the last to be served to us despite it being a "starter." I asked about it after having been served the main dishes and although they said that it sometimes takes a while, I frankly think that they simply forgot. If the STARTER takes that long, first they should inform the customer upon ordering AND they should perhaps ask if they want their main courses first AND they should perhaps not list it as a STARTER. The staff were all very friendly but just lacking in service. No one checks on you nor provide refills on drinks. It was more self service in that I had to repeatedly go up to the bar for help. Ordered a large pizza was the definitely OVERPRICED . I ended up paying about 50$ for a large pizza. I will not be coming here again. It was nice to give it a try but there was nothing special about the pizza . I have gone to places that make their own mozzarella from scratch still the pizza is not as expensive. I haven't been in years which is somewhat surprising. I took out the fried margarita pizza last night with ranch dressing. I was extremely tired last night after driving in from LA. They made it with tomato sauce and no fresh sliced tomatoes. Although, I wasn't expecting that, it was still good. I don't know how they make the dough but it's somewhere between pizza bread and a deep fried wonton. Just wonderful. We recently went there and ordered an 18 inch Combo Pizza by the door on a rainy, cold day. I would have given this place 4 stars if the employee who took our order did not forget about us and hand our order to the kitchen! It took us 20 minutes standing outside under their outside patio roof (still was SO COLD btw) until we decided to ask about our order. Only then did we see another employee look at the register and then hand over a receipt to the kitchen! Then we got our pizza in 5 minutes...[unless ofc the pizza actually had to bake for 25 minutes ..which I do doubt] As for food... This was my first time coming to Bobby's. We were going to a show at the UC theater. Thinking this place would be packed unfortunately I can see why it wasn't right before a large show. You walk in and there is really no signage or direction in what you're supposed to do, where you're supposed to go? The menus are above you and that's great, but where is the cashier? Waiter? Etc? Can I sit at the bar? Are there reservations for tables? It was all unknown. We finally found a person and ordered at the bar. We were given a number and sat down. I went with two slices of cheese because I'm of the notion "you can't fuck that up right?" Wrong. Was not a fan. The crust tasted burnt on the underside of the pizza and the usually fluffy pizza handle we all love, was rock hard. The cheese was limited and honestly it came out so fast that I think they just have cheese on deck and then they throw whatever toppings on and reheat it. It wasn't great. I can't say that I'd come back here if there was another show. I get why the Thai restaurant next door had a wait over this place. Hoping for better next time! read more
