    Spicy Cesar Wrap
    Sophie F.

I decided to try out Raleigh's for lunch after seeing a video online raving about their spicy chicken Caesar wrap. The setting is very casual--you order at the bar, and they bring the food to your table. Overall, the food was just okay. We got the fries, which were pretty standard, but the chipotle sauce helped elevate them. My mom and sister ordered the Brussels sprouts and chicken wings; they really enjoyed the wings but weren't fans of the sprouts, which were undercooked. The chicken Caesar wrap was definitely the highlight--it had good flavor and lived up to the hype. Mid food and mid vibes. Probably won't be returning.

Raleigh's Pub is such a sweet find. If you're a fan of Mezzo in Berkeley, you may know about this spot already since their backyard space is right next door..but if you're still reading this and looking for an outdoor spot to meet friends and enjoy the weather, a brew, and some yummy pub grub, this is for sure a fun one. Our group ordered a burger and fries, nachos, and brews..all incredibly solid. Juicy meat, crunchy fries, all the dipping sauces, and honestly..I'm always a fan of pub nachos and these were nicely executed. The interior is perfect to get cozy for a game or two, and there's also an even more cozy interior fire pit/spot to get warm. Lotsa foot traffic for CAL events and holidays, we somehow have been here the last few Paddy days (I think they still do green beer?). Regardless give it a go if you're in the mood to wind down or up. Fair pricing, fun food menu and people, and just a good time. There is a garage close-by we usually park in bc street parking is most likely a no-go, although we've been lucky a feeeew times!

Great food, good, to the point service. Don't get me wrong the service here is great, but it's a pub grub type of place and they serve you without bugging you. Everything here is tasty with burgers, sandwiches, sliders , salads and more, including a wide brew selection. If you're around UC Berkeley, try this and avoid the touristy dives. This one's for real.

Happy hour $6 wine and sangria
    Nastaran A.

Love a good happy hour and this place had $6 happy hour wine! That's right up my alley :) I got their sangria and it was delish. They have a really cute back patio area that's vibey with the plants, natural light, and also cute twinkle lights. I haven't tried their food, but I did get a sandwich at Mezzo which is connected next door and that good! Decent price for a large sando.

Nestled in the heart of Berkeley on Telegraph Raleigh's is a great option for lunch, dinner or happy hour. Great good great and cocktail selection. Outside and indoor dining. This you can choose the ambience. Great food options for all palettes

    Lemon pepper wings
    Ralph L.

Don't get the lemon pepper they salt them to the max !!! The only reason they get a five star is for the amount of chicken wings. They're lucky I wasn't picky about it being too salty because it was crazy salty however nextime I'll just try something else

Sold 3 stars but I added an extra for nostalgia. I remember when this pub opened, was sad when it burned and happy with its resurrection. If you're looking for a fun spot with a great outdoor beer garden this is your spot. Great local beer selection, decent pub food. I am a sucker for nachos and they do them well. Skip the wine stick to beer. GO BEARS!

Ambiance: There is inside and door seating both are built very comfortably and warm. The outside seating is super aesthetic, especially at night as they have string lights hung up. There is a lot of seating options so regardless of your party size you will definitely find a table there. Service: the service was super nice and it seems like they also celebrate 21st birthdays very well as we saw a group of girls celebrating their 21st birthday and they were allowed to be on top of the bar table for their first drink as per their request, which I'm sure made it memorable for them. Food: the chicken wings were super crispy and the sauce was heaven! It tasted like sweet and sour sauce and dipping it with the ranch was just the perfect combination. I would definitely recommend this place

House burger with onion rings (add avocado)
    Elsa C.

Cute place in Oakland!! When you enter, you scan a QR code to see the menu and order at the bar. Both bartenders were busy but nice, and took our orders relatively quickly. I ordered the Raleigh's house burger (add avocado) with a side of onion rings. I was surprised that it wasn't too expensive- $16ish for the whole shabang (including the add avo). The burger came out on a brioche bun and was pretty large. My party needed a knife to cut in half! The burger was tasty, but nothing super noteworthy. They did not skimp on the avocado addition either; definitely a full half avocado was on there. The sides were also decently sized! The outdoor seating was SO CUTE... honestly had a great experience here, will be back. :)

Old Blue Burger w/ fried - a little dry but still good flavor

As I get older, I'm starting to realize that being around large groups of people just isn't my cup of tea. I love people and I'm very social, but being in places with too many people is like sensory overload for me. BUT... college bars are where I bend the rules sometimes. Of course, it's dependent on the bar and my mood. Raleigh's Pub is one of those college bars that doesn't feel like a hipster joint. It's filled with hipsters, but what I adore about this bar is that they have patrons from all walks of life. It's diverse and low key. A great spot to chill at with friends, for casual dates, or even on a solo tip. Since it's a college bar, you'll get to reap the benefits of college prices. Very affordable but not at the expense of quality (at least where the drinks are concerned). They've got a huge open back patio space which is the main attraction, especially when the weather is warm. But inside has its' cozy charm too. They have a ton of beers to choose from and options for the non-brew lovers as well. Lots of TV's for your sports viewing pleasure. The food isn't anything special but it's good. Expect your typical American bar food. I had a blue cheeseburger during my last visit, and it was overcooked but the flavor was still good. Don't come here thinking you're gonna get some gourmet cuisine. Although, you could definitely get a bomb ass salad from right next door (Raleigh's Pub is combined with Mezzo). They will card you after a certain hour when the pub becomes 21+ for the evening. Don't forgot those ID's, folks! They play a stellar mix of music here too. The restrooms are communal abs unisex (everyone shares one sink and mirror). It's very hip and modern here and I like it. Can't forget to mention that the beers are pretty tasty here too. You can purchase a beer flight to sample the goods. All in all, it's a solid spot for a relaxing hangout and a hit amongst the UC Berkeley College students and locals alike.

Turns out Raleigh's is the best spot to hang out at for Taco Tuesday?! With $2.50 street tacos & $6 margs AND the great ambiance, it's pretty hard to beat. They even have flavored margs like lime, mango, and strawberry. I've always loved Raleigh's because they have an extensive beer collection, games outside, and amazing onion rings. I recently discovered Taco Tuesdays and have become even more of a fan. I will say that the service is pretty slow on Tuesday since they're so busy -- some people were waiting for food for 20+ minutes and they even messed up my order a couple times. The meat is also a bit on the drier side, but I still enjoyed my food + margs and time there!

Great college beer bar with a gorgeous back area. There's usually plenty of space for larger groups, and they have a very expansive beer menu. The "share" foods are really good -- my friends and I have tried the fries, onion rings, buffalo cauliflower, loaded nachos, and chips and guac; all of those were tasty with large portions. The burger was decent but forgettable, which is alright--I don't think I would go to Raleigh's for the food, but I would definitely go for a drink. It's the perfect spot for a happy hour, and the staff is very friendly (I once accidentally left my bag there, and they had tucked it away with a note for me when I came back to get it the next day). It's quintessential Berkeley, and always a winner with groups!

Ask the Community - Raleigh's Pub

Can I smoke in the outdoor patio in the back?

    No.

Can I go with a friend for dinner who isn't 21?

They only start going 21+ past a certain point in the night like a lot of bar/grill places. IIRC it's around 8PM, but you can probably give them a call to ask too!

I've been coming here a bit more regularly, lately - more visits in the last year compared to the previous decade, in fact. Now I wonder what I was waiting for. According to the East Bay Express, Schmidt's Pub is "basically your living room, but better" - that does sum it up, except that very few of us have living rooms anything like this, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by comfy armchairs and rustic tables beside sunny windows. Not many of us have living rooms with Old Speckled Hen on tap, or populated with an entertaining parade of quirky folk and friendly dogs. If the people and dogs are not entertaining enough then pick up a copy of Calvin and Hobbes or A History of Clay Pipes (okay, I made that one up) and have a little retreat with a pint. 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these factors: * Beer on tap (transported in reusable kegs) has a much lower footprint compared to bottles or cans. * Allows you to bring your own food, which is good for folk like vegans who are often more comfortable with BYO. * The snacks available at the counter could be a bit more Berkeley (or Albany)! They were mostly from big corps - Lays chips (PepsiCo) and chocolate bars from Mars. Would be nice to see a more imaginative/ethical selection. * A great community space with an inclusive atmosphere. Schmidt's is home to many groups (e.g., knitting) and provides a second family for many, some who send postcards from their trips! * Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a place to slow down, reflect and connect with each other a little. In that respect, Schmidt's Pub is worth its weight in gold.

I hadn't been there in what seems like forever, and was pleasantly surprised to see such a cool presence of community show up. From stand up, to live music and spoken word, it was awesome to see such talented locals. There is also on the last Sunday of every month, Kid's Music. We recently attended this event and it was so fun. We ordered Cottage Pie, Homemade Chicken Strips with Fries/dipping sauces, and of course a Guinness. They had multi-color balloons to blow up, and two artists came and sang with instruments/passed out music shakers for the kiddos/and story time too. It was such a fun and interactive experience for the whole family to enjoy. Looks like they have programming everyday of the week too! From Irish dance, trivia, Grateful Dead Jam Sesh, and more..can't wait to come back again soon for their fresh taps, community vibes, and those yummy fries. Instead we got our $11 pints of Guinness and we most certainly weren't disappointed (Photo 6). In fact, it got us in such a Gaelic mood that we decided to have lunch here and ordered the $18 plate of Corned Beef & Cabbage. It was a welcome sight when it arrived, but I have to share that the four thick slices were on the tough side. The cabbage and braised carrots were gratefully better. The standout though was probably the mashed potatoes topped with green onions (Photo 8). That was because it reminded me of comfort food from the days of yore since my yore is further back than most. The vibe was certainly convivial enough, though we were here just after they opened on Saturday. I imagine it must get quite festive when there's live music and the community gathers. We started with the cinnamon roll that is famous for a reason -- soft, warm, and finished with a passion‑fruit glaze that made it impossible not to devour. The buckwheat crêpe was another standout, layered with lemon‑ and orange‑zested ricotta that gave every bite a bright, citrusy lift. The caviar and smoked sturgeon course was beautifully done, but the real surprise was the perfectly circular potato chips -- crisp, delicate, and almost architectural. The Alaskan halibut was equally impressive: delicate, flavorful, and executed with the kind of precision you expect from a Michelin kitchen. Dessert was a finale worth lingering over. The apple tart arrived in impossibly thin, layered slices -- so beautiful you almost didn't want to cut into it. And the chocolate soufflé? Easily enough for two, deeply rich, and absolutely meant to be drenched in the Grand Marnier crème they serve alongside it. Don't skip that part.
