Tacos
Wesley L.

Been here a few times after banquet events and it's always a good experience with pitchers of beer and a casual environment. Their food is a little on the pricier end, but they have some solid options that taste good in spite of the cost. Went here with some friends for a drink. Saw they had a taco special for 2 tacos and a beer for $13 which isn't the cheapest, but booze and food was something I couldn't pass up. The chicken one was more flavorful than the beef one I got, but I wasn't expecting gourmet tacos and was still happy with what I ordered. Had trouble deciding on the beer & the bartender was nice to let me sample a few. Settled on their rice lager since I wasn't the biggest fan on IPAs. Fire alarm for pulled mid eating and I had to leave, but eventually everything got sorted out and we went back to their outdoor patio. Wouldn't go here alone, but it's a nice place for friends & groups

Honestly pleasantly surprised by this place! I actually heard about it at the very beginning of college 4 years ago, but never ended up coming. On the last day of classes 4 years later though, my friends and I decided to come here for a late dinner and potentially drinks. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and we got a table outside. You seat yourselves, and then a waiter / waitress comes to take your order. We got the brussels sprouts to share and I got the bbq chicken wings. The wings themselves were fine, nothing special to them but nothing really bad either. However, the brussels sprouts were soo good. I think they first fried them, and then coated them in a delicious sweet and savory sauce that made them so addicting. I think I could've just eaten that as my entree alone :) We didn't end up getting drinks, but I did really like the vibe here!

Major dark academia vibes! But I wouldn't expect anything less than a pub right across the street from the Cal campus. Definitely a great place to meet up with friends for a quick bite and drink. I'm absolutely in love with the vibe in there. There's a long tables, small tables for two and a fireplace. Whether you're with a large group, a date or need to unwind solo, there's a spot for you. Service here is phenomenal. Our server was very knowledgeable about the different brews they had on tap and was able to recommend something that tickled the pallet of each person in our group. I honestly felt like he went above and beyond and despite the very busy evening, he was able to check in on us and keep the drinks flowing. The food here is honestly pretty basic, I wouldn't say its terrible but it's nothing to write home about. However, I'm still giving this place 5 stars because of the aesthetic, extensive tap selection and amazing service. I would definitely come back here, I would just eat beforehand.

I've had a great time every time I've come to free house, but I think that's a better reflection of my company than this establishment. Here's why: Pros: - happy hour 3-6 wooo - great draft beer selections - IPAs, sours, ciders, and lagers always on tap - great Brussels sprouts ($4 during happy hour!!) - lots of fries options (garlic, sweet potato, plain) - many seating options indoors and outdoors Cons: - service can be slow, even when it's not very busy - portions can be small - disappointing nachos and bland fries (not even salted) 3.5/5 for being a good place for happy hour that's not too far from campus, but room for improvement with some of the food and the service. I'll still be back! :)

Freehouse isn't free and there's no freedom in USA these days. You will be caught in Korea's trap. hahah.. I got a pretzel and I have to pay them back soon in a week. Thanks Abraham and sorry about it really but my college didn't bank on their business plan. It's their fault.

Always a great time coming here for meals with good friends. The food is fairly priced, and it is always a hit. I LOVE the interior, as it gives a gothic, collegiate vibe. I also love the outdoor seating area in the back and the game rooms on side. My personal tip is to come on a warmer night with friends, so you can eat either in the back or the front patio next to the fireplace. Although I wasn't a fan of brussel sprouts before, this place changed my mind on that with their roasted brussel sprout sides (absolutely delicious). Service is always stellar, and this is definitely one of my favorite gems of Berkeley.

The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I also tried the beans, which were full of flavor. Overall, this restaurant really stood out in my memory, and I definitely want to return someday to try more moles.

This was an impromptu restaurant choice, so no one has time to go home and clean up. The service was also excellent. Emmanuel was our server and he was kind and attentive. I'd thought the place had lost its touch, but maybe it was just an off day. Today in May of 2026 I've managed to visit while it's a slow day, and I was pleasantly satisfied with my food. I ordered a Carnitas burrito, and it was just as delicious as I'd remembered it one decade ago. While I was eating the first half of my burrito I was thinking "this is good, but burritos are good.. is it better than other burritos I've had, and why?" Something is different about burritos at Tacos Sinaloa, the food reflects that of some regional tacos trucks scattered throughout the East bay, but they're very distinct in how well they're capable of doing this style of Mexican food. As I said earlier- burritos are good. I think they are good because everything tastes good together, but not all burritos are created equal. The first thing that stood out to me about my burrito was the tortilla. It's not your standard tortilla, and it's nothing extravagant, but it seemed intentional. The tortilla is softer, thinner, and it holds up, but it's not chewy. It's there and it soaks up the oils and it doesn't take away from anything. In my experience, a bad tortilla can make a burrito less enjoyable. This tortilla adds in that it's barely there and it's pleasant because it soaks up the flavors without detracting. On the insides, the beans and rice can give or take away depending on where you get your burrito from. At Tacos Sinaloa on this particular day, the beans and rice did not take away from the burrito. The pinto beans were plum and creamy, and tasted like pintos. No nonsense- they added because they didn't subtract, I could go on about grainy beans or starchy over seasoned bean liquid, but NONE OF THAT HERE. The rice had perfect texture. It almost like 'al dente', but not in a chewy way, it had just enough rice texture and didn't get in the way of the other ingredients. It was mildly seasoned with your classic Mexican rice (aromatic tomato broth like flavor). No nonsense, no unnecessary spices, not over saturated in liquid, or turned to mush. Just good simply season rice. Cheese and sour cream- Salty Mexican cheese, presumably Oaxaca or something similar. Adds little salty flavor explosions throughout the burrito. Sour cream, added tangy acidity that cuts through the fatty ness making it taste more lively. Of coarse, the lovely creaminess. If you're not having your burrito with these I'm very sorry for you. The star of the show- The Carnitas here is just done right. It's not over seasoned with anything, it just tastes like melty delicious braised pork shoulder, then fried to accentuate it with crispy mallard bits that surprise you throughout the burrito. Towards the end of my experience I came to the conclusion that what makes a Tacos Sinaloa burrito good is that its ingredients forward- each ingredient tastes good on its own, and that can't be said for all burritos. It's not a burrito for the sake of being a burrito. All the ingredients seem intentionally chosen so that none get in the way of one another. I want to say they make the meat the star of the show, but even if you were to have a bean and rice and cheese + sour crème burrito here it would be an exceptional burrito, which is a testament to their culinary philosophy. Last but not least- yes they have salsa, and of coarse it's good, and I love that they give lemon slices with your food - it's another small intentional detail that they offer lemon instead of lime. Carnitas burrito 5/5. Sinaloa overall 4/5 because of inconsistency.

Like their other permanent locations, here you will also find tacos with various fillings, lunch plates and other items. Walk on in and you'll find an airy clean open interior with high ceilings and plenty of seating and tables all around. Scan the laminated paper menu at the counter. The menu isn't big, but it's rather focused. No burritos here, just tacos, sandwiches (tortas) and big plates! Vegetarian/Vegan? There are several tofu-based offerings and a bigger salad too. Order up at the counter, grab a pager, find a seat, enjoy the Latin music over the speakers and before you know it, your order is presented before you. Trying to stay "healthy", I decided against my all-time favorite Baja fish tacos, and ordered the Pollo de Cholita plate. With this you get a big boneless chicken thigh marinated with herbs and mild spices with white rice, beans (black or pinto), a side salad of fresh mixed greens and three delicious fried plantains. The chicken thigh is flattened thin, but was totally moist and tender and most importantly flavorful and not overly marinated on the tongue. The rice with black beans and mixed greens in a light vinaigrette were the perfect neutral companion to the chicken, with the plantains providing a lightly fried sweet contrast and finish to the meal..
