What a great pub. Aesthetically off the charts and friendly service. Such a great place to meet up with friends or grab a quick drink and a bite. Out back there is a great games area with Cornhole boards and ample seating. So inviting with the dogs and kiddos enjoying their afternoon. Four of us ordered drinks and originally had plans to trek into Oakland for dinner but we ended up just staying here to eat and boy are we glad we did! Veggie pizza and the tacos are FANTASTIC. Walked in on a sunday evening with my boyfriend and my dog, they checked our IDs and gave us a wrist band (I thought that was weird but ok) and we sat down at the bar. The bartender was so cold, didn't acknowledge us and didn't offer a menu or anything. It was clear we were not welcome. She was talking with the other two customers at the bar and came over eventually to get our order and once she came back with our drinks she asked my boyfriend if he wanted to keep the tab open or closed and he said "close me out please" and she said "yes I think that's for the best". We were confused. Bad service is a big no for me, and on top of it the cocktail was unbalanced and overly sweet. Will not be back. read more

Raleigh's is a Berkeley classic. They have the commonly mentioned Taco Tuesday specials with $2 tacos and $5 margaritas. But they also have good happy hour drink specials as well. Raleigh's is a great place, it's a fun environment, the servers are nice, there's multiple TV's playing multiple sports channels, the music is good, the place isn't disgustingly dirty, and the outdoor area is really pretty! It's a great place to either chill in the day and study, go watch a game, meet some friends, or have a quick bday drink. What I also love about Raleigh's is that the food is cheap and they serve huge portions. The menu is small but has a good amount of diversity without being overwhelmingly extra. I've tried so far the: 1. Nachos ($11) - Toasted nachos that come with all the fixings. Massive portion, definitely worth it. 2. Avocado Bacon Swiss Burger ($13) - A massive classic BLTA burger served with a generous portion of fries. Cant go wrong. 3. Vegetarian Pizza ($12) - The pizza is big and they use really fresh ingredients! The dough is perfectly thick and the crust is nice and chewy 4. Sangria ($8) Raleigh's is the best. A lot of places in Berkeley get hype just bc of its location to campus and thus the easy accessibility but Raleigh's is genuinely the best. I'll definitely be coming back soon read more

Come to Raleigh's on Tuesdays for $2 street tacos! Super famous spot for Berkeley students. Mezzo sandwiches next door is the same owner, so they share their spaces. There are fun bar games at Raleigh's too, and plenty of seating. I thought the food would be mid since they're known for their drinks, but it was actually solid! Chicken wings (8 pieces) were $12 and there were a few different types of flavors. The ranch is home-made so always a plus. Service is easy - you just order at the bar and they give you a number and bring out the food. I also tried the onion rings & fries, can't ever go wrong there. Will be back. read more

I don't understand the new non-service model--you have to order at the bar now. The menu seemed hyper limited, but maybe we got the wrong menu since we had to find a dirty one ourselves. Plus we had to wipe down our own table. I barely saw staff except for when they brought food to a table. Half the beers we asked about were on the menu but not on tap. But with all of that in mind, I have been going here since before the fire and rebuild, and I love the patio, nachos, and beer selection. You can order a salad from Intermezzo and your friend can get a beer from Raleigh's, and you can meet and enjoy them in the middle. During certain hours, it is fine to take kids to the outside area. For Telegraph, there isn't another restaurant with this lovely seating, beer selection, and price point. Do I love the new changes? No. I am hoping the service issues the last few times was just due to lack of staffing and that they will hire the appropriate number of people in the near future (they are busier than ever). read more

Raleigh's is my favorite place to hang out on Tuesdays because tacos are $2.50/each and margaritas are $6/cup. It might take several visits to get used to this place because it gets rowdy and loud, which is perfect for group hangouts but maybe not for intimate or serious conversations. The service can be dicey--some tables have QR codes from which you scan and place mobile orders, while others do not and you have to order at the bar counter. Raleigh's is a great pub within the Berkeley area. It's definitely a college bar, especially on their taco tuesday's for their $2.50 tacos and $6 margs. Coming here for Taco Tuesday is a UC Berkeley right of passage. If you're trying to avoid the crowds, don't come on a Tuesday. Their drinks and food are worth a try any other day too! Their nachos are great for sharing, I like mine with carne asada. I've gotten their buffalo cauliflower wings before as well. They weren't as crispy as I'd hoped, but decent. As for their cocktails, I really liked the Garden Gimlet! It doesn't have a strong alcohol taste and is really refreshing. The interior is great -- plenty of seating everywhere. They have a fireplace that keeps the place toasty, as well as a shuffleboard table near the entrance. The outdoor patio has a bocce ball court towards the right and a whole section of additional tables with more fireplaces. Everyone orders at the bar and that is a joke. 2 bartenders to take orders for everyone. 2 food runners on a Saturday - packed. Raleigh's is one of my favorite spots to go visit in Berkeley! It's right next to the equally great lunch spot Mezzo in the same building, so I've been to one or the other several times. During the day, I love going to Raleighs just to relax with a beer and do some work on my laptop, as they have pretty good Wi-Fi (inside - it can be a bit spotty on the outdoor patio). In the evening, it's one of my favorite hangout spots to come with friends and meet new people, especially on Thursday's and Friday's! It's always a blast and there's usually someone chugging a beer on the counter to celebrate a birthday! The employees are all very fun and engaging, with activities such as the aforementioned birthday celebrations occurring almost nightly. It gets rather busy, but it's a really good space both indoors and outdoors with ample room. The patio outside is awesome and has an outdoor bar and fire pit area, although they usually close it around 10 PM. The indoor space is also very spacious and has both communal tables, booths, and other seating. There's something for everyone! I usually come for a few beers, but I've gotten the food a few times as well, and it's equally as great. I especially love the wings here - the sauce is delicious!! Portions are great and the pricing is very reasonable. There's also Taco Tuesday specials on margaritas and $2 tacos! This is one of the best places to come hang out at in Berkeley and have some fun. Came for TACO TUESDAY!!! Super packed at 6:30pm and it kept getting more crowded so definitely come early because service becomes super hard to get. Had Left around 9pm and the place was so packed it was hard to walk around the place. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but the amount of people that come makes it very hard to find spots. Venue has a nice atmosphere and interior design and decorations. There's a bar inside and outside in the back, cornhole, shuffle board, and bocce ball! This is outside of UC Berkeley's Campus so many students come here! Parking will be hard, but you can find free parking off the side streets and walk less than 5min to the place. Ordering is from the bar (at the end near the door to the back area) because they are understaffed. Tables aren't wiped down after another party so it might be sticky and napkins are not refilled. I got birria, carne asada, carnitas, fish, and al pastor tacos and a margarita, and nachos. Tacos are $2 ea and margaritas are $5 after 5pm on Tuesdays. Nachos are $11. Tacos were all good but meat is a bit dry! Margarita is NOT worth it even for $5. It is very small in size already, and most of that is ice, and also alc content is low so taste is closer to lemonade. Nachos were bomb!! Super cheesy and loaded with toppings (sour cream, guac, olives, tomatoes, beans, onions, etc). Food comes out pretty quick like 10-15min and hot! read more

One of the local Berkeley spots to go to if 1. you're a student and 2. you're at least 21 years old! I've came during COVID and can say that this place is definitely not COVID friendly for those that are SUPER concerned. Most of the people here are obviously drunk and wonder around without their masks on. When I came (8/31/2021) on a Tuesday for the $5 margs and $2 tacos, me and my group were the only people with masks on. Not even the bartenders had masks. Anywho, I'm deciding on 3 stars because the food and service are not the best. Maybe I always come during peak hours so service sucks, but the food isn't the best quality or taste. Also, the bathrooms are filthy. Why can't Berkeley students (since they are the majority of the population that come here) clean up after themselves? Idk. Their drinks tho - that's why I come here. I love spiraling here and their cocktails are super good. It's the $5 margs on Tuesdays that are the best though. For only $5, you get super drunkies after a few rounds! (Especially if you're a lightweight like I am with alcohol). All you 21+ folks - bring your ID's because the drinks and outdoor patio are the move here! read more

Spacious place, tons of seating outside. The outdoor space was much larger than I expected it to be. Good place to watch the a sports game (although it definitely got crowded well into the superbowl)! It's not for everyone though. We arrived earlier to reserve a bench outside. Bathrooms were porta potties that day because their regular bathrooms were not available. They had superbowl specials on the menu, which was nice. Conveniently, there is a bar outside as well. I really liked their long island tea, which is what their tamarind non alcoholic drink tastes like. I really loved their wings too. I think we tried every flavor and each was nice (even though I'm not a big fan of buffalo wings I liked these)! However there was a lag from one tv from the other, so scores were kinda "spoiled" by the crowd on the other side of the terrace. Servers were great, but bartenders weren't as attentive. I could tell they were students because they chatted with friends before acknowledging customers and pretty sure I saw a girl dancing on the bar when we exited. Even though it started getting cold at night I'm glad we sat outside because when we left, the inside of the place was still packed, the floors were sticky, it was stuffy and smelled bad (like vomit) after the superbowl. This place was not very kid or senior friendly, but for a college bar on a superbowl day I guess that should be a given. Not sure how it is on other days! read more

This place is a hidden gem! It's hard to identify from the outside as you could walk by it...But when you walk in, it is MUCH BIGGER than you expected. As I walked in i was greeted with a friendly hello as I showed my ID to the gentleman at the front The overall vibe was very welcoming coming in. As I proceeded forward I came to the counter and met Ashton, Angelica, Alex , and Morgan. Whom addressed me quickly and understood I needed some time to figure out my order and gave me the "No worries at all! Please, take your time". I then discussed the menu a bit more with then who by then had already identified my pallet as well as the hops I enjoy most. After my first beer, they continued to provide a delicious selection of beers for my flight. I was satisfied with almost all of them. (How could you not with 36 taps of beer!) After drinking a half of my flight, I meandered to their outside patio that had bocce ball and corn hole as well as beautiful outside patio decorated for the holidays! This to me meant a lot as it shows us how much the company cares about their customers. Aside from that you can also see how much the staff gets along and how they work well together thus creating a great customer service as well as quick service. Fires to keep warm, great selection of beer, friendly and knowledgeable staff with a great ambiance.. definitely made my decision to make this review... I will definitely be back to show my friends! The ambiance is beautiful, it's just like a nighttime pub with a pretty purple flower tree in the middle, it has a relatively classy college pub feel and the margheritas are strong. The chicken and fish tacos are also a perfect distribution of ingredients, and they are not big enough that they fall apart in your hand. The wings are also really good, they are grilled very well and the outside is crispy and the inside is soft, and I would eat them without the sauce, but the buffalo sauce is really good. The fries are crispy and soft inside, but a little big for my liking. Reminds me of ski lodge fries, but the food is great overall and would definitely come here again! Cute little pub in Berkeley. We stopped by here while waiting for dinner nearby on a Friday. Walking in you definitely get the college vibe of students there with their laptops, studying, meeting up with friends for a drink or grabbing something to eat. They strictly check ID and they have both indoor and outdoor seating both with bars indoors and outdoors. I feel like they were playing music inside and it looked like they had a wide variety of brews and drinks to choose from. We got a couple of rounds before dinner and it wasn't too expensive. If you're looking just to grab a drink and an area to catch up with friends this is a good spot. We got the flavored margaritas and like a pear drink, all which were pretty fruity. As for parking, you always have to struggle for parking in downtown Berkeley, it's probably easiest to park residential and walk. read more

Probably my favorite bar in Berkeley! Cute ambiance outside. Wide selection of drinks. Very solid snacks (including some vegetarian options). On Tuesdays, there are $5 margaritas and $2 street tacos. I think the $2 tacos are smaller than their tacos on other days, but I still find them to be worth because two tacos can be enough to make me full. I usually eat tofu or fish tacos. I have low expectations for any tofu tacos, but I think their tofu tacos are pretty good. The tofu tacos can be a bit dry, but they're alright with lime. I also like eating their fish tacos. The fish is fried and comes with a more creamy sauce on the side. If you arrive 5-7pm on Mon-Fri, you can get the happy hour drink deals. Beer, wine, and sangria are $6 during happy hour! There is a wide selection of drinks that they update occasionally. There is seating both inside and outside. The outside shares space with the restaurant next door, Mezzo. On Tuesday, it can be very hard to find a seat past 6 or 7pm. Sometimes it is unclear if there will be table service or if you have to order at the bar. Overall, can get pretty crowded as the night goes on, but great option for chill drinks. read more

his is one of the popular bars on campus that many of the students would go to back when everything was back open. The ambience inside is nice, with a decent amount of indoor seating and a really nice outside patio at the back. The bartenders are pretty knowledgeable and friendly, with recommendations for navigating the variety of items they have on their large drink menu. Since I hadn't really been here that much, I ordered their beer flight so I could get a sampler of the different beers that they offer. The beer flight comes with four drinks, including ones like Old Rasputin and Nutty Beer. While I'm not a huge fan of beer in general, some of my other friends who like beer come to this bar often and really enjoy it. However, out of the four beers in the flight I actually enjoyed the Nutty Beer, since it had a distinct nut aftertaste that I haven't had before with alcohol. I would recommend trying this beer as it seems to be one of the unique drinks that they offer here. Overall, this is a good place to come with friends and for drinks, especially if you are a big fan of beer! read more

thank you to @emilykchien for taking me here to have my first legaldrink. we came on a friday night and it was absolutely PACKED with mostly students. the bartenders were working super quickly to get drinks out to folks, so props to them! i loved how they had a beautiful outdoor patio area, which is where emily and i enjoyed our drinks! however, it's a shame that the patio itself closes at 10pm sharp, so everyone had to move back into the bar which was pretty chaotic. the inside was dimly lit and bustling, though definitely more of a laid back vibe than a raging club. the drink menu was extensive, ranging from cocktails to different beers, so there's definitely something here for everyone. -- -- -- pictured: " blackberry bramble cocktail ($10) // this was...delicious. the aged rum paired so nicely with the sweet blackberries and refreshing lime, and honestly, i could barely taste the alclol. it was a refreshing drink that i'd totally get again! Raleigh's is a fun - hole in wall large dive bar near downtown Berkeley campus. Went here with some friends on a Friday early evening and it was bumping! The patio area is huge with lots of seating and an additional area / back deck for tables and benches surrounding a bocce ball court. There is another mini bar serving the outdoor space. It wasn't too hard to find seating despite how busy it was on a Friday night. Love how the interior was decorated and organized, very cozy and intimate setting. We ordered a round of the Tequila come down drink, with strawberries, agave, and lime. It was really good and I watched the bartender make it with a generous amount of tequila. Super tasty and not too sweet! I made a mental note to come back for taco Tuesday, you can't beat $2 tacos and $5 margaritas! I came to Raleigh's on the evening of Cal Day. They were out of every single fruit. My friend ordered a spicy pineapple margarita and it was just straight tequila water. The drinks were not good. I'm not sure if it was just because they had a busy day earlier but I would come again to see what the hype is all about. Cute setting though. read more

This review consists of two separate visits. The first time, I went around lunchtime on a Friday and originally intended to order a roasted vegetable pizza, but not long after ordering, the server came back and told me they are all out of pizzas and asked if I wanted anything else, so I switched to ordering onion rings and two tofu tacos. The tacos were fine, I liked the tofu but I'm not really a fan of avocados/guacamole and I would've preferred the taco shell to be a bit crispier. The onion rings were juicy and thick, and it was actually very filling - even sharing my food with one other person, I got pretty full and still had some rings leftover. The second time, I came on a Thursday after work shortly after they had opened but there was already a line to get in since customers were being asked to show their ID to get a red wristband. I was told I still needed to show my ID although I said I was not going to order anything with alcohol. I then went out to the back to order from the bar, they didn't have the non-alcoholic drinks listed on the wall but I was told they offered iced tea, a tamarind cooler, lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and probably something else that I'm forgetting. I went for the strawberry lemonade since they put fresh strawberries in it, which was nice. The only real downside was that since it was a Warriors game day, there were a ton of people there gathered to watch the game on the TV, and it seemed like the receipt machine had also glitched, so ultimately instead of trying to stand waiting indefinitely for the workers to get to us (I felt bad, they probably didn't have enough staffing for the crowd) the person I was with just left his card and will come back eventually to pick it up. read more

A group of us hit this pub up before a concert at the Greek theater last weekend. They don't quite have a full bar (couldn't make a Moscow mule), but they have plenty to offer. A variety of beers, ciders, kombucha, wines, and I guess you would call them mocktails? Their food menu was solid too. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and also shared an order of their garlic wings. Both were on point. I love a good burger and this one was a 10/10. The atmosphere is really nice too. A big indoor area and then a good sized outdoor area as well. We sat outside and there was a long fire pit next to our table, which was nice, because it was a chilly night! We all had a great time and were able to walk to the show from there afterwards. I'm pretty underwhelmed by Raleigh's Pub. The inside and outside patio area are LARGE and they use the space wisely. The decor is aesthetic and hip. I will say all the wires hanging around on the benches on the walls is a safety hazard. I ordered a charcoal cider and it was salty. I wasn't into it at all. I was kind of put off at the sheer amount of fruit flies all over the bar and they were also all over the inside area. Their salads looked good but the fruit flies ruined any chance of me wanting to order food from there. The bartenders were nice enough, but a little disengaged and chatty with one another. I went when it was basically empty in the mid afternoon on a Monday and couldn't find anyone to close out my bill for 15 minutes. Maybe it was an off day for them, but I wasn't impressed by Raleigh's Pub at all. read more

Update on my faves: - Charcoal cider for you sour lovers - Raspberry parfait for those who want a fruity drink that's technically a sour ale but tastes like juice - the chicken nachos! definitely shareable among 2+ people, though you may not want to - spicy garlic wings aren't very spicy and you can dip them in either ranch or generic sweet and spicy sauce for fun even though they don't need it. They also aren't breaded so it's a healthier option if you're looking for it What I considered to be lackluster but will probably order again sometime: - shrimp artichoke dip was meh but my meal companion loved it. The pita was warm and delicious but I found the dip a little bland - dragons milk stout was ok. not as flavorful as their other stouts yet more expensive For next time: - their salads look HUGE.
