Bobbin Along has hemmed several knit pants for me. She does good measurements, quality yet affordable work, in a timely manor.

Brought in a flight jacket to get 4 patches stitched on. $47. A lot but I wanted a professional job. Layed them out and took a picture which I brought in. Two patches were supposed to be lined up but one was 3/4" off. I asked them to move the patch but when I returned to pick it up, it was still misaligned by 1/2"and there was glue where the patch was originally located. I guess they had Ironed it on the first time. If I wanted it ironed on I would have done that myself. Also the second time the stitching was all over. Ruined the entire Jacket for me. read more

I used to take my pants to a local chain dry-cleaner who shall remain unnamed, and they too often left my slacks too long or, even worse, too short. Then I discovered Bobbin' Along, and I've never had a problem since! I've taken countless pairs of dress slacks, jeans and khakis to them for alterations and they've always done a fabulous job. You can expect a normal pair of pants to take about a week and be done right the first time at a reasonable price. If you have money to burn then this is your alternations place! They are ridiculous with what they charge for simple alterations. And, they can't explain (or communicate properly) why they charge what they charge- which is even more frustrating. I am willing to pay for a service, but to gouge someone for basic alterations is ridiculous and unnecessary. I came here to get some jeans altered. After putting the pairs on and having them win prepared for alteration the lady wanted to charge me $21 a pair! And she kept trying to explain why so much, and I couldn't understand a dang word coming out her mouth. It was so frustrating. The customer service was great. Ellie was attentive to my request for the fit on my wedding dress. The alterations on my gown were perfect. BUT...my bustle fell out. I can't tell you how frustrating this is. Walking around and having people step on it, getting dirty, and making it hard to dance. Super sad. I wouldn't send another bride for bustle work here. The best tailor I've ever been to! My two sisters and myself have gotten all of our wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses altered here. They have always been beautifully done. And the prices are very fair. I had a Casablanca wedding dress with lots of beading, lace straps and a lace train. I had to get the dress taken in and the straps shortened. I took in 2 sport coats to have them altered. The price was comprable to what I was quoted elsewhere and I was told it would take a week to have them done. I called the day after I dropped them off to see if they could rush one of them as I was going out of town and really wanted to have that sport coat for my trip. WARNING - DO NOT go to Bobbin Along! They tried to charge $68 to hem a dress. It was a simple job. The dress is an A-line polyester bridesmaid dress. There is a thin lining that can be quickly hemmed with a machine. I gave them a full week to complete the job. After asking for my money back and telling the woman that I would be taking the dress elsewhere because of the price, she told me that she would be charging me $15 for pinning. No prices are posted anywhere in the store and she never disclosed any prices before having me try on the dress. $68 is more than double what it should cost to hem a dress. When I asked for my money back the woman was very condescending and rude. read more

I had 2 pairs of Eddie Bauer flannel-lined jeans that needed to be taken in because I have lost weight. The alterations on one had to be in the seat and the legs. The other pair came in at the waist and the legs. She did an amazing job on altering them and it cost me half of what I would have paid to buy new ones. So, in my book this was a good deal for me. Her turn around time was one week which I find excellent. Now, this is her slow season because there are not many weddings this time of year. I would expect a longer turn-around during summer months. I hem my own pants, so this is the only alteration I have had done here. I would definitely recommend her for your alterations. Know going in that most alterations are not going to be cheap because it is time consuming and there just aren't many people that do it. So, supply and demand dictates the price. read more

Worst customer service ever! Took in my aunt's vintage veil just to be shortened and the headpiece made a little smaller. Ellie said it be about $80 and would call me in two weeks to confirm. I had to call her 4 weeks later at which point she told me it would be $150. Then I went to pick up my veil unaltered, because I wasn't going to let her touch it almost double what she quoted me, and she wouldn't even acknowledge me when I walked in the store. Not sure how good a seamstress she is but I know I will never give her the opportunity for my business because she doesn't respect people's time or give honest estimates. read more

I have been taking my jeans/pants to Bobbin Along since I moved to the Sedalia area over 9 years ago. I am short and always need to have my jeans altered so they fit. Before finding them, I made the mistake of taking a new pair of jeans, washed first of course, to a dry cleaner for the alteration. I pinned my jeans to the length I wanted, and left them there for the seamstress. When I picked them up, I couldn't BELIEVE what I saw! One leg was too short, and the other was too long! What the heck were they thinking returning my jeans to me in this condition?! They offered to fix them, but how do you fix when one leg is too short? I pitched a fit and insisted they pay to have these new jeans replaced. So this is when I found Bobbin Along and have been going there ever since. I have never had any issues, and Ellie is super sweet! She listens and does exactly what I ask for. She even stayed late once so could drop off three pair of jeans. I now take my purses to her to have the interior adjusted to accommodate certain needs. She does a fantastic job! I highly recommend Bobbin Along! read more

I wouldn't even credit them with the 1 star but I had no choice. I've been to Bobbin Along several times over the past 4 years and they can hem pants but that is the extent of their tailoring expertise. I've had 2 dresses taken in that were not done well but better than I could do myself. The last (and final) dress I wanted hemmed, it was mid-calf length and I wanted it knee length. After 2 weeks I picked up the dress and tried it on at home and it was still well below my knees. I took it back and told them I was not happy and they would not fix it unless I paid them again! I already paid $60 for the first alteration (which I'm not sure they actually did anything looking back at pictures of me wearing the dress) and she told me that it is tea length and if I wanted it shorter I would have to repay. I told her that I wanted it like I requested the first time and she told me since I changed my mind I would have to pay again. I was so frustrated that I told her I did not want to spend any more money on the dress and she walked to the back of the store and did not return. Like I said, I have used them numerous times and she knows my husband because he has used them quite a few times as well, if this is how they portray customer service I certainly will not use them again or recommend to anyone. read more
