Ordered delivery from Foodsby for lunch. I've seen Bobbee O's around for years and never had the opportunity to try it. My order was a smoked white meat chicken quarter with collards and macaroni salad. The collards were good. The Mac salad had flavor but the noodles were undercooked. The chicken, oh the chicken was so dry even the bar b que sauce didn't help. No smoke flavor was detected. I'm thinking electric smokers are used here. The sauce was decent but on the sweet side which I don't prefer. Just my take on this, and I probably will not order from here again. read more

This was my first time here. Oddly, I've been in Charlotte for over 15 years & never heard of Bobbee O's & was even more shocked when I was told that they have been open for 15 years lol. I got some pulled bbq chicken, collards, Mac & cheese & smoked lemon pepper wings. The wings literally slide right off the bone...like my man from Destination Smokehouse says "tenderism" frfr Wings cooked to perfection. What I didn't know was that the lemon pepper was a sauce instead of a dry rub. I prefer dry rub for lemon pepper wings but they were still really good (the way they were cooked made up for the sauce) The pulled chicken was a big portion & came with cornbread. Taste was pretty good as well. Collard Greens were really good, but could use just a hint of vinegar to crank it up a little more imo. The Mac & cheese isn't made with Mac & cheese noodles but the consistency & the level of actual cheese in it was exceptional. Overall I really enjoyed my meal & luckily Bobbee O's is about 10 mins from my house so I'll be back, maybe tomorrow hah. read more

Have not been in awhile and stopped for a quick bite. They do online, to go and dine in. Wide menu selection of chicken, ribs, seafood, burgers, etc. My waitress was a doll. Warm and knowledgeable about the menu offerings. Please note all chicken is cooked to order so pack your patience! Love the interior it's a cool southern blues kind of spot. Ample seating spaced out, great decor, big screen TV and just the right music playing: Bobby Blue Bland, Stevie Ray Vaughan and BB King. You want to be happy waiting for your food. Found them on Yelp. My mom wanted bbq for lunch and we had a small window of time to grab something. Located not far from Northlake mall in the same shopping strip somewhat as Tisuns Beauty Supply and Staples. Soooo this is our new bbq spot. I ordered online and the msg I got was ready in 13-15 min. Perfect because it was gonna take 10 minutes to drive there. Got there and found out that the rib tips are made to order so it's a total of 30 minutes. Noted! Waiting gave me a chance to check out the place. It appears to be seat yourself. Spacious restaurant so if you're trying to navigate with wheelchairs, babies, kids etc easy to do. They have carry out as well as door dash and uber eats. Online I didn't see desserts featured but there was a display of a variety of desserts you can expect with good soul food: peach, apple, blackberry cobbler, vanilla mousse cake, cheesecake, blackberry Bundt cake etc. Avg cost $4.99. Observed customers coming and going and served promptly and professionally. There's the story of the restaurant printed from Pride magazine on the wall. I could see the cook in the kitchen putting fresh greens into the pot. This is the real deal. They have pretty much everything. It's rare that I can find rib tips in North Carolina but they have them here. They also have a veggie plate with 3 sides from their expansive menu. Kids menu. Booths as well as tables. First thing first I love the Mac and cheese here. It is always creamy, cheesy and well seasoned. I have been here a number of times and the Mac and Cheese is always on point. I also got the beef brisket sandwich which was tender and juicy. It was really good. My only complaint is the food could've been warmer other than that the was really good. This is my go too for southern good food. They typically hit but today was a miss. I ordered fried wings with a side of collard greens. The wings were fried way hard and they were huge!!! They were able the size of my hand. You can also tell the oil needed to be changed. I'll blame it on it being the end of the day on a hot Saturday. The Mac and cheese uses too much eggs and milk but it's seasoned well. Order came quick and little to quick as I'm sure they fried the wings to quickly and on high. read more

The lady who packaged my food was the only one who seemed like she knew what she was doing. Went on a Saturday around 2 o'clock and placed our order in advance. When we arrived, the person at the computer -- albeit cheerful and pleasant had no idea how to use it. I had to wait for my order even though I'd ordered in advance. When I got home with it, I was disappointed with what I saw. The ribs looked oven-cooked, bland and tasteless and when I tasted them, they were exactly that. The greens were watery and had no seasoning. The baked beans were so sweet that they were nasty. The hush puppies were hard like little bricks. The potato salad was just OK. This place is awesome. Some of the best eastern NC style barbecue i have had in a while. There are not any eastern NC style barbecue restaurants in Charlotte anymore. The other places I have tried are greasy trash compared to Bobbee O's. The food is excellent, the service is great, the folks that own and run and work there are super nice, very friendly and fun to talk with while you are eating. This restaurant is a good old southern boys favorite kind of place. And they have awesome banana pudding and Cheerwine too. What else could You ask for. I give them a 10 out of 10 read more

I took my best friend to a sip and paint event at Bobbee O"s for her birthday. We decided to arrive early so that we could get something to eat before the event started. She ordered the Pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and I ordered the beef brisket with onion rings. I asked for my beef brisket to be a mixed of fatty and burnt...however what I got was mostly fatty and no burnt ends in it at all. My friend Enjoyed her sandwich however we both agreed that The Onion ring batter was too thick and it was not very good and it was greasy. Neither one of us finished our food before the event we just simply pushed it to the side and began the painting activity. We both thoroughly enjoyed the painting activity however if I were to do this again I would eat someplace else and do the event here. read more

I visited Bobbee O's BBQ with a travel group from Michigan called the Blackity Black Tour that supports all black owned businesses the week of Juneteenth. We showed up with a group of 40 and they accommodated us beautifully. They were pleasant, friendly and patient with our group. The food was so good, fresh and hot. I ordered the brisket with onion rings, along with ribs. In addition I had the blueberry cheesecake that I'm still dreaming about lol. Good BBQ! Love this little spot. It seems family owned but I'm not exactly sure. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was not busy at all. The lady who took our order was extremely sweet and personable. She took our order and we seated ourselves. Our food came in like 15 min. The restaurant gives really nice homey and family vibes and the food is very tasty. I ordered the brisket with macaroni cheese and coleslaw. My least favorite thing was the cornbread because it wasn't the most moist but my meal I felt was very good. Just encountered the most rude manager! Items were left off a Door Dash order and the manager acted like I forgot to put them in the bag. What's is worst he hung up on me! After telling me to take the refund up with Door Dash. Door Dash did not pack the bags, they simply picked it up. The manager did offer to deliver the food himself, however he stated the it would be 45 minutes to an hour in which everything would have been cold. And they say support black business. In a city with multiple BBQ restaurants my family and I wouldn't give them repeat business unless we knew that Bobbee O's serves good Q and sides promptly at a fair price on a consistent basis. Well your going to spend $20. BUT it will be the best $20 you have thrown down for a 3 "Bobbee" size chicken wing platter and a drink. I like to order based on recommendations. Sweetheart at the counter recommended the large smoked wing platter with a saucy glaze. My two sides were fried pickles and baked beans. They threw in some Texas toast but I was too stuffed to eat. My three things: 1) This sauce is legit. Sweet, Smokey and just a hint of spice at the end. Just what I like. 2) When I grabbed my first wing the bones fell out. Perfect smoke and not dried out like most when they try and smoke chicken. Must have brined them prior. 3) They do what they do. Pulled pork, brisket, and chicken wings are their meats. A lot of catering left the doors when I was sitting there. Pretty good sign. read more

The service deserves a star of its own the cashier today the sweetest kindest person ever, she was patient and explained the options. The loves for the platter surprised me portions are generous and the brisket is delicious, as well as the Mac and cheese: I like they to not use the tradicional American elbow instead they use penne. For a fast barbecue dining I prefer city barbecue but my step father prefers here. Nice clean restaurant with cute decor.I didn't use the bathroom so I can't speak on that. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I ordered the quarter dark smoked chicken meal which came with 2 sides and also did an add on with beef brisket. For the sides I chose greens and potato salad and both were on point with the perfect amount of seasonings. The potato salad is that sweet southern style and it had the perfect balance of creamy sweetness, yet still able to taste the potatoes. The chicken and the brisket had good seasoning. The barbecue sauce has a vinegar base which was to my surprise, yummy. The tangy with brown sugar and other spices was delicious. This meal was $20 and some change but they are a tad bit stingy with the sides so you may want to purchase additional cups. With saying all this I will return! read more

Well, we tried to eat here, through Uber Eats. The order went through, and the restaurant sent a text that the order prep would be 20 minutes. Sounds great. So we waited. 30 minutes went by, nothing. I called the restaurant and the girl who answered seemed confused. She asked me who my order was for, and I gave my name. There was a long pause then she told me "the order was coming right up". I ordered on doordash... my order is just sitting and sitting nothing is being delivered for them to call and say they dont have my address. To avoid a long wait we called ahead and ordered 2 jumbo wing dinners and 1 wingettes with a side - we were asked for our phone number - given a total and told the order would be ready in 15-20 mins. Now here is where the fun starts - we get there and guess what THEY DONT HAVE OUR ORDER - she checks checks again and checks again not there but admits she remembers our call. She asks the cooks do they have a ticket - which they don't. After ringing our order in again I politely ask what will be done for the inconvenience and - are you ready - she says I didn't have to do anything but I gave you a $3 discount - my order total was $34.97 - so uh let me get this straight I get less than a 10% discount for your mistake and you have the nerve to say you didn't have to do anything. I suggest she comp the lowest meal of our order which would be $7.99 to which she says I can't do that - some conversation ensues between her and the other 2 employees none of which could do anything So I asked for the manager after all 3 said he was gone and not available - I ask again finally one of the cooks goes storming to the back guess what THEY FOUND HIM Bobbee himself- I explained the issue he asks me for my phone number to look up the order - I remind him the order is not in his system - he's now confused lol - so he says who did you speak to we nod toward the cashier- she admits she took it but don't know what happened he fusses at her then fights with register and finally says I took $7.99 off then tells the cashier to finish the order. No I'm sorry no anything else I can do no I appreciate your patience since it's now 25 mins later - NOTHING he just walks away! Thanks Bobbee!!!! My family and I had the best bbq here in all the years we lived here. We had the sampler which we chose smoked chicken, pulled chicken, brisket, and bbq stl ribs along with potato salad, baked beans, collard greens, corn cobbler, corn muffins, slice of toast, bread and maybe more We just had so much food..They were all delicious. Couldn't choose between the cornbread or the hush puppies but the guy working the counter said he liked the cornbread better. It was a touch dry but still solid. Pulled chicken was great. First time eating here. I did place a take out order and tried something simple, BBQ smoked wings and fries. I can say the wings were top tier and slid off the bone, they were so good. The BBQ sauce was for sure not basic, it had a tangy taste but still delightful. The fries were good but even though I ordered a size small, I barely got any. 5 stars for their fried chicken wings. They are banging and it's what we always come here for. All fried chicken orders are a minimum wait of twenty minutes so call ahead for fast pick up. On occasion we may also get a hot link too because those are pretty good. It's been a long while since I have had the bbq because every time we tried it, it just wasn't for us. But it's been so long - it could be good now? The mac and cheese is okay. It's got a strong taste of celery for me and just throws me off. But it's cheesy and good, other than that celery. Service is friendly but wait times on receiving your order can be hit or miss. We placed an online order one time, came AFTER the scheduled time pickup by just five minutes and our order was still not ready. We had to wait an additional 40 minutes to get our food. Maybe that was an off night. I don't know. I do love the bbq sauce here. It's sweet with a slight tang and spice. It's perfect with their fried chicken wings. read more

Good "Q". Can't wait to try the rest of the menu I originally visited Bobbee O's at their old location on Old Statesville Road before they moved to this location a couple of years ago. Have tried to visit them at this location several times but for some reason, they were always closed when I tried. Today I was in luck. Must bigger and nicer than the small place on Old Statesville Road. Love the wall art and the Jazz feel. Walked up to counter and waited my turn to order. After looking over the menu, settled on a pulled pork sandwich with Beans on the side which I upsized. They gave me a number along with a cup for my beverage which I filled myself. In a few minutes, the Pulled Pork Sandwich came out, nice and hot and wrapped in foil. Sauce on the side as was were the Beans. The BBQ is great. Nice and moist with a slight smoky sweetness to it. The sauce was interesting. Not quite a Lexington style and the sweetness was more characteristic of Memphis style. Starts out with an intense sweetness like molasses but then the flavors blend to give an overall well balanced presentation. Beans were the one thing I was not totally satisfied with. Their texture suggested that they were not completely done. Still have a crunch to them. Could have been a bit sweeter as well and this is where the molasses would have helped. Service is pretty much self serve and the only interaction you have is when you order and the guy comes out from the kitchen with your order. Not enough interaction to really rate. Atmosphere as I have mentioned is great. Nice and whimsical and and artist flair. Will definitely be back. read more

I was in last week and ordered the beef brisket platter w/ collards & fried okra, along with some smoked wings (to go). The place is order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The folks taking/delivering orders were friendly and informative. Brisket was tender and juicy, with a nice balance of fat and lean. I got the spicy BBQ sauce to go with it for some sweet heat. Collards were delicious, but I added a little vinegar anyway. Fried okra was pretty standard. Nice and crispy! The smoked chicken wings (whole wings) that I ordered were some of the best smoked wings I've ever had! Chicken fell right off the bone, with a great smoky flavor. Cornbread was a little on the dry side (my only knock on the place). Still deserving of 5 stars though! Will be back. read more

The best thing about this place, is the cleanliness. The food is subpar. The Mac and cheese is probably the worst in the city. I think they put onions in it. It's weird. The greens are okay. But could better. The friend chicken is okay. I'd give it a 6/10. The staff is nice though. And the atmosphere is nice. Just don't go in thinking you're going to get the best meal ever.
