I haven't tried Boba Square in awhile, and now I finally remembered why. The drinks are kind of inconsistent and underwhelming. Let me start with the positives. The place is clean, and it never seems crowded despite the fact that it's near Zion Market which always seems to have a line. It also seems to stay open later than other boba shops in the area as well, which is unusual given that Irvine is the type of city where 90% close for the day at 8pm. And that's where the positives stop, honestly. As for the drinks, there's some issues. At 25% for their matcha milk tea, it was underwhelming to the say the least. After a good shaking, I couldn't taste the matcha... nor the tea... nor the milk... and the boba was too chewy. I think too much powdery taste on the first sip ruined the drink. This has happened to me before the last time I tried it so it seems to be formulaic. There's definitely better boba shops found elsewhere in Irvine so I would recommend saving your cash and going to boba shops like Sunright for speed, Orobae for tea, or Omomo for sweet mixed drinks. read more

Drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. My favorite is the brown sugar milk boba tea. It's so delicious it's kind of similar to a cream brûlée drink but not as sweet which I like. Popcorn chicken is delicious and you get a lot of chicken. I got medium next time I'll probably go spicer since I really enjoy spicy food. But 10 out of 10 recommend it's good. read more

Okay, I had to make a slight adjustment after my most recent visit. House milk tea still deserves the 5 star rating with the perfect balance of sweetness, however, other drinks are not on par with expectations (in comparison). Not sure if it was from the sugar/sweetener or the fruits but their peach mango smoothie was "way too sweet to handle" while the passion green tea was flat-out disappointing. read more

I ordered the taro milk tea & the house milk tea as recommended by one of the staff members, Chris, and they didn't disappoint. The taro milk tea had a great creamy taro flavor while not being too sweet. The house milk tea had a nice strong tea flavor while also not being sickeningly sweet which I appreciated as well. The boba tasted fresh and not like it had been sitting for hours which is good. Overall, I would want to come back and try a few more drinks! read more

Heard a lot of good things about this place and decided to stop by today to see what they were all about. I gotta say is.... BOMB!!! I couldn't stop munching on their crispy flavorful popcorn chicken. For the drink I got the mango tea and it was so refreshing!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone. I've only had one drink at this Boba Square location. I see it quite often after shopping at Zion market, but I never felt like trying it with the huge selection of boba places in the area. My eyes rested upon the strawberry cheese foam and I really wanted it. So I ordered it. It wasn't great... at all. It was warm and I had to ask for more ice. Pretty good boba! Their concept is that they give you double the boba that other places give but I felt like it was a pretty standard amount. My husband had the regular milk tea and I got the guava at 25% sugar with boba. Both our drinks were good and I particularly liked the milk tea- it tasted like traditional taiwanese boba milk tea. We also got 2 bomba (ice cream bombs)- the spumoni and the exotic. Both were absolutely delish! I would definitely get them again! I left a review a year ago and would like to say again today, that this is still our favorite boba place. The new owner Danny and Minh were so kind and willing to give back to the community after they took over. This year, they sponsored AWISH, this favorite annual cultural/heritage event of my kiddos' elementary school and it was a huge hit! Everybody loved their boba and the long queue proved it. Whenever I visit this store, the staff is always friendly and ensuring the drink is to our satisfaction. On last day of the school year, I continued my little tradition of ordering from Boba Square for the class I served as room rep and my class definitely got all other students jealous! I came back and they are now serving popcorn chicken. It was crispy outside and juicy inside. Ask for extra spicy If you can handle it. I can't believe how good their honey green tea is. We've been trying a few different boba tea shops around Irvine recently. We saw Boba Square on our way out of the shopping center a few days back. It's easy to miss because it's tucked away on the end, facing away from the rest of the entire place. The prices are a bit steep, but it's pretty much inline with other Irvine boba shops, which all undoubtedly necessarily charge a lot to help cover their sky-high rent. We visited the shop twice in two days, both times getting a taro smoothie with boba. It was a good drink if you enjoy taro. It wasn't really anything extraordinary, but pretty much exactly what was expected. The boba itself was decent. We might or might not return. It's convenient because it's not too far, but there are a few other places with better offerings, such as Presotea and Sunbright Tea. There's also Omomo, but we haven't tried that yet because they always close too early. read more

My daughter liked her green apple Boba slush, but the purple-haired employee seemed put out that we were there. She was cold and acted annoyed by our very presence. In addition, the POS system is in Japanese, and the only items In English were the tip amount buttons. She didn't deserve a tip, but we had no choice as non-Japanese speakers but to press a percentage tip button to get to the next screen. And, she watched me press 15% and seemed disappointed. Terrible service. The girl with the purple hair who worked Sunday, 9/25 is super rude not only to customers but also her coworker. I haven't been to this location in a year but I finally visited this week and it looks like they are under new management. This place has gone down hill since new management. Staff are terrible, drinks are made all wrong. Cheese foam is suppose to sit on top of the drink not at the bottom, why did my cheese foam melt to the bottom of the cup before I was even able to poke my straw in? The house iced coffee was sour and watered down. It seems like the new owners hire just anyone and not actual quality workers like the previous owners did. All the workers here seem a little weird too. This place use to be so good before new owners took over. Please just go to the Boba Square in Tustin, drink quality is way better there anyways. read more

Popcorn Chicken - SO GOOD, I am SO glad went the extra mile to come here. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Really good flavor. The spice isn't too spicy, so medium spice works really well. The popcorn chicken is better than most boba places! Fries (BBQ Flavor) - Fries were cooked well, crisp and good texture. Barbecue is good, but I think plain would be good too if you're already getting chicken. Mango Tea (w/ mango boba) - Super refreshing. Huge burst of mango flavor (I love mango) and I liked the mango boba a lot. Black Sugar Milk Tea - SO GOOD OH MY GOSH. Recommended. I have a sweet tooth, so this was so delicious and caramel-like. I'm getting this again. Winter Melon Milk Tea - Make sure to mix it with your straw. It was really good flavor and I love winter melon always, so this met the mark. read more

No tea flavor...actually scratch that, no flavor at all. I tend to go for just simple milk teas at boba shops and this place was definitely my least favorite.
