The maki rolls came with 6 rolls, with the sushi being 1 pc each. The spicy tuna roll was very affordable with fresh high quality fish. I like how the sushi was fairly simple, which amplified the deep flavor of the fish. I also ordered one fatty tuna sashimi, which was melt in your mouth! Miso soup, which had homemade tofu is rich, but the tofu was average. Gyoza was average, more on the dryer side. The salmon taretare was very good, coming with different sauces. I tasted a bit of my coworker's unagi bowl, which came with seaweed to create a roll. I thought the unagi was grilled well, but the marinade on top was too sweet. The sweetness of the sauce overpowered the natural flavor of the eel. A highlight was their dessert lime sago. It was not too sweet and came with ice cream. There were pop rocks sprinkled in that gave a unique texture.

Morimoto Napa: A deeply disappointing dining experience…read more My wife and I recently returned to Napa, one of our favorite places, and decided to try Morimoto while celebrating 40 years since we first met. We ordered the $180-per-person omakase and added the $95 A5 Wagyu supplement for each of us. With drinks, tax, and tip, our final bill was over $800. We were perfectly comfortable spending that kind of money for a special occasion, but unfortunately, the experience was a tremendous disappointment. And to be clear, this isn't about the money. Even if the entire meal had cost $50, I would have been disappointed. The food simply wasn't good. The omakase nigiri was particularly bad. The rice was atrocious, and the preparation of the fish was hardly better. Sushi rice is fundamental to good nigiri, and getting that wrong undermines the entire dish. Several of the other courses were excessively salty, with little of the balance or refinement we expected. The presentation was also surprisingly uninspired. My wife commented on how ordinary everything looked, especially for an omakase experience where you would expect some thought and craftsmanship in how each course is presented. Then there was the A5 Wagyu. Before ordering, I asked our waitress about it, and she described it as wonderfully buttery. We've had excellent Wagyu in Japan, so we had a reasonable idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, this wasn't remotely close. The appearance was unappealing, the flavor disappointing, and the texture lacked the richness and tenderness we were looking forward to. At $95 for a small portion, it was a particularly poor addition to an already underwhelming meal. My wife is Japanese, and we travel to Japan regularly, so we're familiar with excellent sushi and Wagyu. But I wasn't expecting Morimoto to replicate a traditional Japanese restaurant. I knew it was fusion, and I have no problem with that. Good cooking is good cooking, regardless of the style. What I expected was quality, proper technique, balanced flavors, and some genuine attention to detail. Unfortunately, we found very little of that here. The service didn't help matters. When our waitress asked how we enjoyed the nigiri, I told her directly that it was terrible and explained why, particularly the rice. I made clear that I wasn't blaming her personally. She seemed genuinely surprised by the criticism, but there was no apology, no meaningful acknowledgment, and no attempt during that conversation to address our dissatisfaction. She was pleasant enough otherwise, but there's a difference between being superficially pleasant and actually caring about a guest's experience. What bothers me most is the disconnect between Morimoto's reputation and what actually arrived at our table. I've had far better food at small, unpretentious restaurants where the people preparing it clearly care about what they're doing. A celebrity chef's name and an impressive bill don't substitute for craftsmanship. We went there to celebrate something meaningful, and instead we spent the evening wondering how a restaurant with this reputation could get so many basic things wrong. Perhaps others have had better experiences, but ours was genuinely awful. I wouldn't return, and I certainly wouldn't recommend the omakase. Not because it was expensive, but because the food wasn't good. The price just made the disappointment that much worse.

I always stop by here here after I get my car serviced. My car gets treated, then I get a treat! I…read morefound out that it's cheaper to order at the kiosk, then order pick up from the apps. I wish their scoop of boba was more generous. I had to come back after I drank half my drink and buy another scoop. Btw, the photo is just one scoop. Other positives: oat milk option, perfectly chewy boba pearls Street parking is always a challenge. There are interesting characters that walk along the street. Some folks who you'd do a double take... I don't usually linger for long, and book it back to my car.

3.5 STARS there…read morearen't too many options for boba right now in san rafael, but i think oddcha is one of the best ones! you can order at the pickup window or on the kiosk next to it, and the drinks come out pretty fast. it's located on a multi-lane one way street, and i haven't had too much trouble finding street parking on the right side, although the road can get busy. oddcha has a pretty interesting menu with less traditional drinks. - jasmine green milk tea (5/5): this drink had a really great jasmine tea flavor without being too bitter, and it was my favorite milk tea by far! it was light for a milk tea and perfectly sweet at less sugar - peach oolong milk tea (3/5): it definitely had an artificially peachy taste, but i thought it was a little too fruity for a milk tea. i do like fruity milk teas when they have a good balance between fruity and creamy flavors - this one just didn't work as well for me - wow winter melon (2.5/5): very creamy and light! the winter melon flavor was very subtle, so it tasted like a lightly flavored milk. the winter melon glavor needed to be way stronger. i still enjoyed the drink, and the butterfly pea added a pretty effect - fancy matcha strawberry (3/5): i enjoyed the strawberry jam with bits of strawberries, which added sweetness. it had a good ratio of jam to drink, but it could've used more matcha flavor. the matcha was very subtle. i liked the creaminess of this drink - it wasn't grainy at all - thai twister (4/5): really good, but i wish the thai tea flavor was a little more prominent. it surprisingly wasn't too sweet, which was great, since these types of drinks tend to be sweeter. i liked the cream on the side and oreo bits, which added a good texture to the drink - mother of dragon (3.5/5): the mango and dragon fruit bits were tasty, but i couldn't really taste the mango in the drink. i thought it was pretty sweet at less sugar but also a little too sour at the same time, kind of like a tart lemonade - marin refresher (4/5): very refreshing, similar to a passion fruit tea without the tea. i loved the crunchy passion fruit seeds in it. it wasn't too sweet at less sugar, although some sips were a little watery. the crystal boba paired well with this drink! oddcha offers interesting topping options, like popping blueberry, dragon fruit, mango, and strawberry boba. i always get the regular boba though, which is good and chewy, although it leans on the harder end. the drinks at oddcha are solid and consistent, and the menu has some unique options. i would definitely recommend stopping by for your boba fix!
