When I bought my house, a vapor barrier was installed in the crawl space beneath my house. The…read moreprimary benefit was to keep underseepage water vapor from creating mold or damaging the lumber. There was a 1/3HP sump pump (with a plastic impeller) installed to convey water to a nearby drainage ditch. One January afternoon, my wife and I return home from trip only to hear the sump pump making crazy sounds. I investigated only to find the sump pump broke and had been spewing water into the crawl-space. The downside to having the vapor barrier was now the water couldn't seep back into the ground and was sitting on the plastic. I hired a restoration company who did a horrible job but eventually got the water cleared a whole other story), and I needed to hire a plumber to help me replace the broken sump pump and inspect the rest of the system. I reviewed several local plumbers and selected Jeff - firstly because he is a man of faith and I felt like I should be able to trust him. Jeff was responsive, a clear communicator, on time and did great work. I couldn't have asked for better. Additionally, I feel like he went above and beyond. He advised me on the kind of sump pump that would last longer and perform better (1/2HP with stainless steel impeller). This empowered me to compare with the 1/3HP & plastic impeller from various retailers and in the end I went with his recommendation. Jeff could have done what, in my experience, most contractors would do - buy the cheapest replacement and mark-up "materials" on the invoice. Instead, I purchased the sump I wanted and he replaced and tested it to ensure the system worked. I would do business with Jeff again and recommend him to everyone!
