Bob Evans 3961 Hinkleville Rd Paducah, KY 42001 Aug. 14, 2023 Monday - 7:45 AM for breakfast 2 Adults Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 4 stars Service - 4 stars Background - Time for breakfast while on a business trip. Atmosphere - It is a Bob Evan's, nothing really standing out. My co worker never been to one and said IHOP after getting in. Yeah I see that too. Nothing fancy, but functional. Food Drink - Coffee Breakfast - The menu picture sold me on the double blueberry hotcakes. The hotcakes, aka pancakes, had blueberries cooked in them and topped with them. So good. I could have used some more blueberries on tops. I had a side of their chicken sausage patties, those were tasty. Service - Our waitress was pleasant but was very soft spoken, thankfully the place was empty. Future - Maybe, I would not be against going back.

It should be zero stars. First time going to a Bob Evans and it will be my last. Stopped here on a family trip to St Louis for breakfast. Service was incredibly slow, waitress was rude and my daughter found a hair cooked into her pancakes.

Best food I've had in a long time. Our waitress was Samantha. Thank you for the food that makes me feel at home even when I'm away.

A delicious breakfast spot in the downtown area of Paducah. But my husband went with the Three Little Piggies (bacon, ham and sausage gravy in an omelet) with a side of bread pudding mini waffles (these were AMAZING, especially with the cinnamon butter), and I ordered a couple of sides (bacon, hash browns and corn nuggets) which were all tasty and not overly filling. Be mindful if sitting in the back room because the floor has some unusual slopes and cuts, so if you're sitting in a booth watch out when you step down. Would come here again for breakfast in Paducah!

There's nothing warm and cozy about the room-- just signs with smarmy platitudes like "if you don't like my cooking, lower your standards." Har har har. I was in for breakfast and chose a meat/eggs/side combo. The side choices are four different kinds of potatoes. I chose hash brown casserole because the other three items were fried, but what I got seemed a lot like fried hashbrowns with cheese stirred in. The eggs and ham on my plate were coated in what seemed like fake yellow butter substitute. Eggs were not fully cooked; the whites were runny. in all, not a great experience.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich with fries same hubby ordered fish and chips. The waitress brought out a basket of rolls with whipped butter. Those were excellent rolls. Yeasty and soft. The butter was perfect too. Loved the rolls. Our meal came and immediately I was impressed with their fish and chips. The menu says hand breaded. The fish looked amazing. Hubby said it very good, great breading, nice and crispy. Great tartar sauce too. I wish I had tried it. My fries were not crispy (no double fry) not crispy at all. They were hot and cooked though. My sandwich was pretty good, not excellent. It had a bit too much sauce in it for me. It had a good flavor and the toasted garlic roll was good. I will be back, but I think I will try something else next time.

To be fair, the servers were very kind and doing their absolute best, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Everyone looked frantic, which set the tone right away. The dining room was also freezing, with cold air constantly sweeping in from outside -- not exactly the cozy lunch my mom and I were hoping for. My mom ordered her favorite, the shrimp and grits, and she loved it. Clean plate, no complaints from her. I wish I could say the same for my meal. I ordered the prime rib after asking the server about it. She assured me it was juicy and looked great today. I asked for medium rare. What arrived was a dry, gray slab of meat that was nowhere near medium rare. I cut into it to show her how overdone and dry it was, and she took it back. Eight minutes later, a second prime rib arrived. This one had a tiny bit of pink, but still mostly gray, still dry, and still absolutely not fresh. It tasted like leftover prime rib from the day before that had been microwaved -- that unmistakable reheated texture and flavor. It was honestly disgusting. I choked down less than half before giving up. The baked potato was the only thing I could actually enjoy. The broccoli had a strange, unpleasant taste and went untouched. My mom would genuinely recommend O'Charley's for the shrimp and grits. But for anything else -- especially the prime rib -- I'd suggest steering clear. Or if you do go, just play it safe and get a baked potato. Very disappointing experience, especially for a $32 prime rib in a small Kentucky town.

We both are fans of "Top Chef" and since her restaurant is within reasonable distance of home, we planned a trip around it. In fact, we made reservations for two nights in a row, to take in as much of the menu as possible! Between the two different days, we tried a number of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If I were to do this again the same way, I would do one day of apps and dessert and one day of entrees, just to spread things out a bit. What we ate: - Fall pickles: I enjoyed this, with the bit of chili heat, especially the cauliflower - Stuffed Mushrooms: I love mushrooms, and these blended creamy, sweet and hot with a filling of cream cheese, berry BBQ sauce and smoked jalapeno - Pistachio and herb chevre cheeseball: a fresh cheese enhanced by nutty and Herby notes - Smoked bologna: my husband's choice; very meaty and there was a lot of it - Spicy beer cheese spread: a very Midwestern feeling appetizer with tasty veggies and crackers Entrees: -Shrimp and grits: my choice: comforting southern food with lots of flavor - Duck fried rice: his choice: rich rice offset by more delicate vegetables - Sticky ribs: my choice: the pumpkin spice and coffee liqueur glaze worked well for a cozy, wintry meal - Braised pork shoulder: his choice; served with beans and cornbread, this was another hearty, comforting meal with a Southern twist. Desserts: - Winter creme brulee: this was my favorite, flavored with mulling spices, orange and pomegranate We also enjoyed a seasonal sorbet and the fall spice cake. We had the same server both nights, Elizabeth, who was good at making recommendations, and also staggering the small plates on our small table so we wouldn't be overloaded. Chef Sara was in house the second night, bringing dishes to tables. The setting is relaxed, not overly loud, with moody lighting. Overall, we would certainly return to Freight House!

After doing some record shopping we asked "Where's a good place to go for lunch" and there was a unanimous "Parker's" from standers by. It was also, literally, about 3 blocks away. There's a menu board mounted behind the counter and they can hand you one so you don't have to squint your eyes to see all they have to offer. And this menu is ENORMOUS Parker's is a very cool throwback to the car hops of the 50s and early 60s. You can order outside on the speaker or go inside for the full-on experience. The inside is decorated with movie and music memorabilia and neon. Lots of neon. If you're eating inside you order at the counter, they give you a number, and you find a seat. The menu is hand-held/bar food. Burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, and fries, and a variety of sandwiches and a HUGE selection of sides. My wife had a mushroom and swiss burger, I had your basic cheese burger. Our sides were onion rings and fries. Our food was delivered hot, fresh, and accurate within ten minutes. My wife's burger/onion rings came on a basket shaped like a guitar. #AWESOME!! The food was tasty and delicious. I asked for tomato on my cheeseburger and they were able to add it, but was sliced probably 3/4 of an inch thick! It made the burger look a little lopsided, but it was still good. The staff was friendly and didn't look at me funny when I asked for a side of mayonnaise for my fries (yea I'm that guy). The dining room was authentically decorated, like I said, with vintage movie and music stuff down to the chrome chairs and the soda fountain seat with silver, twirly seats...even the floor tiles were like something you'd see in a movie from the 50s. Our first visit was a great experience and we had a lot of fun despite unrelenting rain. If we get to Paducah again, Parker's Drive In is definitely our lunch destination.
