For our entrée, we shared the pork shoulder, and it was absolutely delicious. The fennel aioli was such a great touch, and the combination of pork, peas, and greens made for the perfect Southern bite. We enjoyed it so much I wish we could go back tonight! We took a slice of lemon chess pie to go, and it was every bit as delicious as the rest of the meal. Kyle was our server and was fantastic--very knowledgeable and helpful with our selections. The restaurant was busy with a fun, lively atmosphere, but not so loud that we couldn't easily talk and enjoy our dinner. Definitely one of our favorite meals in Paducah!

Freight House in Paducah is worth the drive from Nashville (and if you are a fan of quilting, this…read morecity is for you). We showed up right at opening, five o'clock, and there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. Make a reservation. I'm glad we did. We had a party of four and was seated at a low top that had a view of the kitchen. Lively open space with an open kitchen you can see both the cook line and the prep area. The cornbread was the unexpected standout of the entire meal. Mildly sweet, savory, light and fluffy all the way through. I was not expecting a side dish to steal the show, but it did. We also ordered the double stuffed burrata, and the bread it came with deserves its own mention. Crisp, lightly toasted, with just a touch of char. It paired beautifully with the creamy burrata and the accompaniments on the plate. For my entree I went with the grilled Caesar salad and added shrimp. It ended up being the perfect call. The portion was generous, the shrimp addition made it feel like a real meal. The romaine had this excellent crisp char on it that added so much. The dressing was heavenly. One of the best Caesar dressings I have had in a while. My favorite parts of the night had nothing to do with what was on my plate. We got to watch chef Sara Bradley working the kitchen with her team during service, and it was clear why this place has the reputation it does. I'd love to come back and try the prix fixe tasting menu next time. Overall this was a great experience from start to finish. And a must stop or destination when driving through KY.

Breakfast - While in Metropolis you need to have something named after the star. I had the Superman. The Superman is the Loaded Haystack with two eggs and toast. The Loaded Haystack is hash brown, bacon, sausage, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and topped with ton of cheddar cheese. The haystack was loaded for sure, I was full after that. Here in Paducah a working vacay. Knew I wouldn't be able to go out for lunch til late afternoon…read moretoday so I randomly searched for delivery options in Paducah and found this gem. Online ordering is super easy. Minimum order of $20 for delivery which is fair enough. Delivery fee $6.95 (also fair in my opinion). They utilize DoorDash (delivery chick was super nice and order arrived in under an hour during lunch time peak). Soooooo - I had the Fruity Fran on a bed on lettuce. "Bed" being an understatement. Bowl is quite large. Lettuce is a nice spring mix with cucumbers and tiny tomatoes. Was very fresh. Came with two dressing cups (my kinda people as I always like to be kind of heavy on dressing) but the chicken salad was so good, I haven't used the dressing. I couldn't wait and tasted the rotini salad - is really good. Fruit cup was filled to brim (as was rotini salad) and I can see the fruit is fresh. I also got an unsweetened ice tea. Plus points - crackers, plenty of plastic silverware, a pickle and a very cute cookie which was individually wrapped. TLD - CLASS ACT all the way around.
