I have never had such a miserable experience eating breakfast in my life! It was absolutely FREEZING and had we not had a time crunch we would have left. One couple changed tables twice trying to find a warm spot and two other customers had to get jackets and even a blanket to be warm. Three waitresses were told and they all said they would speak to the ma after which they did. She did nothing. Ridiculous. It was a chilly rainy day and was warmer outside than in the restaurant. Someone needs to address this. We will never return to this Waffle House but use the one closer to our house as we usually do. The manager needs a talk. She was brunette. Totally uncalled for. Kids wanted to experience Waffle House. You could definitely tell place was understaffed and place was busy on a Saturday morning. We were lucky to snag 6 seats at the counter. Staff tried their best to keep up, but can tell they were all frustrated. Place has cheap breakfast food. Kids loved the waffles, hash brown and bacon. Sandwiches and fries were cheap. I realize Waffle House is not considered fine dining, but that doesn't mean they can't at least keep the place clean and try to provide a nice experience! This Waffle House was one of the worst Waffle Houses I've been to. To begin with, the place was dirty and we had to search for a clean table, even though there was only one other couple there. There was trash under a table that had clearly been cleared & prepped for a new guest, and the short bar where we wanted to sit looked greasy and was sprinkled with crumbs. The bathroom seemed to be cleaner than the dining area. The guy & gal working the evening shift were complaining about having to work the entire time they were preparing our food. The gal dropped a butter container, then looked up to see if we noticed. We did, so she threw it in the garbage. We can only assume she would have given it to us had we not seen her. When not attending to our food or taking our order, both employees were buried in the back and we had to call for them when we needed them. The waffles were delicious, despite the fact that the waitress dribbled syrup all over my leg as she was precariously holding the bottle! She didn't notice and I didn't realize it until later when my hand came up sticky (I didn't have any waffles). The breakfast melt (bacon, eggs, cheese) looked good until I realized it was lacking a key ingredient -- eggs!! Thankfully, the guy made a corrected sandwich and didn't charge extra for the goofed up one which they left for us. We ate our meal in relative peace as we listened to the male employee banter with a new patron about who had done the most jail time. No joke. It's Kentucky. You can't make this stuff up. This establishment deserves only a 1-star, but since the guy graciously made me a new sandwich, I'll give it a 2-star. read more

Wish we had a Waffle House in Chicago! I don't know why, but I love floppy waffles and well done hashbrowns with all the fixins! The fact that 3 people can get a huge breakfast served fresh and hot, cooked right before our eyes at 3 am (or any other time) for $30 is so awesome. The waitress has been doing this for years and you can tell. She spits out our order in their strange shorthand with a casual, but rapid fire no-nonsense grace. Served fast, friendly, hot, affordable and - most importantly - delicious! I suggest the all-star breakfast for a bit of everything. Pecan waffle (extra, worth it!), eggs, bacon, sausage, and hashbrowns. Don't you dare get them plain! I like mine scattered, smothered (onions), covered (cheese), capped (mushrooms), and chunked (ham). Taaaasteeeee! All for less than $8! I got a strange look, but was so satisfied to get an orange juice with a splash of Sprite. Virgin mimosa, anyone? AND free refills? For only $2 more, THAT right there is a miracle compared to the $4.50 you pay for a shotglass sized OJ in the big city! Aw man...why do I have to drive so far to get a good Waffle House experience? First of all, let me preface this by saying we drove over 70 miles to come to a Waffle House, on our way back home from vacation. We hadn't eaten since the night before and it was already 11:00 am. I was getting hangry. So, we come in and are somewhat relieved that there are only 2 people waiting ahead of us. We look around and there are 4 tables and several stools that are still dirty with dishes. We waited probably 15 minutes while one gal stood around and looked around. I think she was waiting on a to go order, but was doing nothing while waiting. Others were cooking, washing dishes and waiting on other customers. I was very close to hopping up and asking if I could clean off some tables! The other waitresses were not speedy, but at least they were doing something. I think my face showed how shocked I was to see her constantly doing nothing while tables needed cleared off and then we see her facing the counter shoving stuff in her mouth eating. My husband said even though he didn't own the place, he wanted to fire the girl. We were each asked if we wanted a drink refill once. We did not get any knife. We just used a fork to spread our jelly and cut our waffle. We had to ask for syrup. The food would have tasted great if it had been hot and my waffle wasn't overdone. My husband got an incomplete waffle, because they didn't make sure there was enough batter. I am a very good tipper - usually at least 20%, but I was struggling to give 15% here. I think the owner and/or manager need to step it up. Also, is it normal to charge a 20% fee for to go orders?? I was shocked when I saw the sign at the cash register. read more

Trust me, I'm not dissing on the Waffle House concept. I have been to a dozen of these and I get it. Greasy comfort food available at any time of day. There is a need for that and Waffle House has the market cornered. What I'm talking about is the struggle that I just had at this Waffle House in particular. I came in on a Saturday morning, the place was about half full. Everything took a while for us. We didn't get menus when our server came the first time. "Do you need creamer with your coffee?" "Yes, please." 2 minutes later, coffee shows up...without creamer. My daughter's waffle came out 5 minutes before anything else. Service was rough, partly the server, partly the cook. The place was also fairly dirty. Take a look at my picture of bacon sitting on the window sill right next to us! The outside of the store also hadn't gotten attention in a while. If you really crave a Waffle House, go the one on the Southside of Paducah. If you have to stick to the interstate, try the off-brand Waffle Hut at exit 3. Sorry, folks. read more

The staff don't greet you when you walk in, the smell in and near the bathrooms is of raw sewage or something, and simple instructions for your order aren't followed. OK- I realize that this is a waffle house but I have to say my experience there was pretty dang solid. I only eat at these kinds of places when there are limited options of small businesses serving breakfast/brunch. Due to COVID19 they are seating customers at every other table and have shower curtains between tables- this is super ghetto but who am I to judge? Before sitting down we sanitized the table with our own disposable wipes because the cleaning job our server did was suspect. They really shined though when it came to service and food which are what matter most to me. Our server was attentive asking is we preferred plastic cutlery over metal after seeing us clean the table. She asked if there was anything else she could do to make us feel comfortable. I took my mother with me and it was her first time- she raved how EXCELLENT the coffee was. My mother is pretty picky when it comes to food but loved the coffee. We both got the sausage hash brown bowls and we both happily scarfed them down as they were DELICIOUS! We went to Bob Evans the next morning and as soon as we got her coffee her first comment was that we should have gone back to waffle house ;) For $20 we both left stuffed and happy. I enjoyed my friendly service, very attentive waitress and very engaging cook ( he asked about the taste and the flavor of the food and based on conversation took pride in his work ). I was very surprised when I received my omelette that it looked like if I had made it myself. They was not skimpy on the ingredients and my waitress kept my unsweet tea filled to the rim every time she saw you go low (Half full). Casual but meaningful conversation was an added plus. I will be in the area for a few more weeks and I do plan on returning here :) read more

This Waffle House sucked at service and the food was absolutely horrible. The employees look awful and are loud.

So this is not a dig on the staff or the food because we never got to eat . The layout of the seating is unlike any other waffle house ive every eaten at. 2 booths in the whole place that can seat 3/4 people. ALL the other booths can only seat 2 people. There were many empty booths but we had 3 people! Nowhere to sit ? 75% booths empty but we cant sit down because there are only 2 seaters ? Oh well we opted to leave rather than wait for one of the 4 seat booths because they only had 2. Just plain Dumb! Heres your sign. read more

I've been to to Waffle Houses all over this country, and seen some awesome ones and some terrifying ones. This is one of the worst I've ever seen. Filthy floors, ants crawling on my plate. We arrived to find 4 employees 3 of which were sitting down and 1 First name started with a K. who was doing everything. Taking the order, cooking the order , serving us and then checked us out when we leave. She was wonderful. Now for the bad. One employee had her 3 children there which is fine but the entire time the 3 were screaming at the top of their lungs and running past us. Upon entering the establishment one literally ran into me. THEY SCREAMED THE ENTIRE TIME LITERALLY. The waitress even apologised a few times even though they weren't her kids. When I went to pay my bill once again one of the kids ran into me. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! The mother of the children " An empoyee" never said a word or got up to control her kids. Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I ate at a LOT of different Waffle House restaurants. Some were always so busy, they would have another one less than 2 miles away. In 2008, I took my sister and her husband to the 2100 Lone Oak Rd. location. I didn't grow up around my sister, as she is only my half-sister. Mom kept her sheltered for most of her childhood and early teenage years in Southern Illinois. Ergo, this was her first time ever stepping foot inside a WH restaurant. Her husband had eaten at a Waffle House in South Carolina with his mom ans brother long before he had met my sister. My sister was a little apprehensive about it, at first, mainly because the very few times Mom took her out to eat, it was at Olive Garden (if they had the to spend) or KFC. Back to my story, we went inside and I told my sister that most Waffle Houses, you seat yourself. She wasn't even past 1/4 of the menu, and she had already found so many foods that sounded "yummiee." I told her cash was not a factor, and to order whatever she wanted to eat. Again, this was her very first time in a "diner setting." She had never watched anybody, other than her mom, make her food. She had a Chocolate Chip Waffle, Eggs Over Medium, Hash Browns/Scattered, and Toast. We had an explosively friendly server, who started up a conversation with us (Waffle House is famous for this). The cook also joined in on the conversation as he was making our food. Talk about multi-tasking. These guys and gals multi-task and they do it well. When all the food was done, she took her first bites of everything and she was instantly hooked! "Mom never took me anywhere like this. That was delicious!!" So, along with the crew members who made it a point (and made it well) to make us feel welcome in their house, and the scrumptious food, My Sister's apprehensive feeling of eating in a diner setting flew out the window at record speed. And between 3 people eating a "YUGE" breakfast, we only spent $18.77 + tip (and we tipped both of them $5.00). To this day, my sister WANTS and NEEDS a Waffle House nearer to us. We love Waffle House and this location was 5 star service at a 2 star price, but between her having a 1 year old, and a 3 year old, it had been 2013 since we last ate here, but on June 10, 2017, she and I secretly came back here (she didn't want to tell her husband, because he wouldn't have wanted to drive with the kids 70 miles (worth every mile) from home, so she lied and said we were going to *Walmart. When we got there, she could scarcely contain, and barely able to control her glee. I ordered my usual Double Waffle (just 2 waffles,) 2 orders of BACON !!! and a Sweet Tea. Our waitress started a basic topic, and my sister ordered her BIG Breakfast, except this time, she got her Hash Browns /scattered/smothered/and covered. They were a little short staffed on June 10, so our server was also our "Chef de Cuisine." ... by the end of our meal, my sister was ready for our server/cook/cashier to "Shut up, and take HIS money. " We had all eaten at this location several, several, several times before this day, but this was the very first time she and I had gone without her husband. (who only didn't mind because he thought we were going to boring old *Walmart.) Had he known where we were REALLY going, he would've given either me, her, or both of us the "Oh no you don't, I WON'T STAND FOR IT!!" speech. To this day, August 08, 2017, he still doesn't know we went to Waffle House without him. I can't say I know what he would say now, after the fact. I imagine he would A) get upset for going without him (and not bringing him back so much as a bacon crumb), B) lying about it (and keeping the lie going for so long), or C) All of the Above. All I can say is, it is unlikely she and I will do that to him again, but OH MANNNN, the food is delicious and the servers/cooks/even Management are wonderful towards the guests they bring into their "House." We keep going back as much as we possibly can (which isn't as often as we'd like it to be) and will continue to do so for many more years down the road. read more
