Fabulous breakfast in a setting appropriate for its name. Best breakfast in the Paducah area and at a fair price.

Stopped here because another restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We don't regret eating here. The food tastes absolutely delicious and the prices are outstanding for the amount of food you get. I had Mel's omelette and had to make it a two egg instead of a three egg omelette. The waitress told me that the omelette would be filled "pretty good" and she was right. The omelette comes with bacon, ham, sausage, bell pepper and onions. It also comes with hash browns,two biscuits and gravy. I knew it was too much for me but wanted to taste all. You can order a la carte but the platter is only $1 more. The diner was packed, but the wait is very short. The wait staff is fast, friendly and very attentive. Definitely highly recommend eating breakfast or lunch here. They close at 2 pm. read more

We just recently found this diner. They have awesome dishes, from breakfast to hamburgers. The services are great. We try to go every time we're in Paducah. The only problem we have is the close at 1:00. So to eat we have to get there fast. read more

Service was great with southern charm! Crispy bacon, great eggs, biscuit and hash browns. I was really looking forward to some amazing sausage gravy, but too much pepper for my taste, so thankfully I had it on the side so as not to ruin the yummy biscuit. If you're looking for good quality food, big portions, friendly service and prices that can't be beat anywhere then come into this tiny diner and pull up a seat. My friend and I were in town for a girl's weekend. We each ordered an omelette, which came with hash browns and either toast or biscuits and gravy, my friend got coffee and our TOTAL bill was $15.55. You read that right. Two people ate a full breakfast with one coffee for less than $16!! And it was so good. If we lived here I'd be a regular for sure. read more

What a great stop for breakfast. It's off the main road but well worth the extra minute. We had the Flo special and it was great!! The best bacon I've ever had at a restaurant. Mel's Diner is THE PERFECT place to stop for breakfast in Padukah. It is a 5 min off the the interstate but my wife and I agreed it was a great experience and great food First it is a classic diner. Metal building, food prepped in front of you, and everyone knew everyone (except us). There are probably enough seats for 35 people including the bar so you may have to wait depending on when you show up. But it is worth it! The menu has the basics for breakfast...eggs, omlets, biscuits and gravy, etc. I had the vegetable omelet and it was outstanding. The mushroom were so flavorful and the tomato almost felt like it came from a local garden. I loved every bite. We also had perfectly crispy hash browns. The coffee was great and our cups stayed topped off. Now the fun. One guy walked in and one of the ladies said "I've been waiting for you to show up so I could tell you to get out.". Now that is classic, local diner vibe. We will be back each and every time we are in Padukah. read more

A classic, old school diner. You can watch the cook grilling up a storm right in front of you. She appeared totally into it, nonstop making omelets, fried and scrambled eggs, pancakes, crisp bacon, etc. The prices are a bargain, seriously. Super attentive service. We enjoyed our stop at Mel's. It's a small diner so we did wait a few minutes for a table but it was worth it. The orders came out quickly and exactly how we ordered. The bacon was so thick and perfectly cooked. We were all glad we took the few minutes off the interstate to eat there. read more

How can you not stop at a diner called Mel's?! Super friendly server (she happened to be the dishwasher, just filling in for the day) and she did a great job taking care of us. I love it when staff work together as team players under pressure! I ordered the Mel burger and hubby had the BLT. My burger was huge, but really good. I came here with 2 of the kids on a Saturday morning. It's pretty much a basic diner, so it was packed. The same way Friday night is the big night for pizza delivery, I assume Saturday morning is the big time for mom & pop diners. One kid had a HUGE omelet and the other had waffles. Both were what you'd expect. I had an egg sandwich that was simple, but only $2. In fact, our entire meal was only $14! The service was good and I appreciated that each employee was wearing a mask, even though that's not the mindset of the clientele. I really enjoyed this place. It's very similar to a Waffle House BUT it's much more personal. I met my friend and his wife there and it literally took us 10 to 15 minutes to get a place to sit. It was super busy for 7:30 on a Saturday. Which was my first clue we were in for a treat. All the food came out correct and with all three of us it was just $30. Stopped by this place on my way through town for work. My coworker and I did not want a chain restaurant and wanted a nice place to set and eat breakfast. This place was not to far off the highway so we stopped in and gave it a try. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and priced right. They cook the food right there on a grill so the place smells amazing. I would probably think twice about taking a really large party here because space is limited (hence the word dinner ), but I'm sure they would try to accommodate you. I would definitely eat here again. read more

While a young man and a middle-aged lady never heard of 2nd gear! Sad! The biscuits are frozen pucks, heated in a toaster oven. The white gravy is gloppy. The eggs are small to medium at best.
